《Flame-Eyed Immortal》Chapter 16

If you guys like the way I describe things from the point of view from Owen who was blind let me know. I'm trying to make it as refreshing and interesting as possible. This is an interesting chapter for sure I'm sure you guys will love it! Enjoy!
Osena had left as fast as she had arrived. She didn’t talk about anything in particular and only wanted to have a look at her friend’s disciple. As much as Kovinth tried to deny it, they had been through many life threatening situations together. There was no way he was able to refute that. That was why there was the slight playful attitude from Osena even though they were both millions of years old they still retained their playful sides.
For then on Kovinth continued to patiently watch over his student diligently. Although he wouldn’t spoil his student, and although when he left he wouldn’t protect him either, until then Kovinth would do everything in his power to cram all of his knowledge into Owen’s head. At this moment in time Owen was still trying to grab that certain warmth flying through the air. It wasn’t a physical object and thus no matter how much he tried to grab it with his mind he wasn’t able too. The feeling using his mind to grab something was more like he was trying to approach a crow that always knew exactly where you were at any point in time. If you got closer it would hop away a few more steps.
The most worrisome part was that because Owen instinctively felt like if he forced it it would fly away forever and he would lose that feeling. As he was already immersed in this feeling, as he was a person who needed to complete everything until it was done thoroughly and meticulously. He didn’t, and couldn’t fail here now. Thus as the sweat started to flow down his cheeks, and his breathing started to speed up he couldn’t even manage a bit of his thought process to complain.

His entire subconscious was working towards the same goal of this feeling. Once again, and more than likely his last attempt Owen tried to feel his way to the Essence. As he did he suddenly realised something. As he did he halted his attempt to chase after the Essence and thought of a different approach. Because he was no longer forcing himself to chase after it the burden on his mind lightened and as he thought to himself.
‘If it’s like a crow, maybe I only need to have to approach me on its own?’
As soon as he his way of thinking changed Kovinth was immediately able to tell. He couldn’t help but let out a sigh of admiration for his disciples cleverness. After all he had chosen correctly. Although Essence was not a living thing, it was able to feel the emotions clearly of all life forms. It was the very reason that if one wanted to continue to walk on the Path that would only get wider and wider as you went, it would acquire one to absorb more Essence. However because of this problem it required people to have a more pure heart. Only then could one absorb the Essence infinitely.
As soon as Owen stopped chasing after the Essence, like a child who was no longer being chased in a game of tag ran back over. It approached Owen slowly but surely, it felt that Owen’s heart was pure and then that was when the miracle happened. As the Essence started to spiral into Owen’s eyes he was actually momentarily worried he would feel that excruciating pain again however to his surprise, a warmth he had never felt before swam through his body.
It was hard to describe but if Owen had to put it in words. It was like every spec of his body was being washed by a small stream of water. Each and every muscle, tendon, bone, organ etc was all washed lightly by this warmth. As the warmth finally started to dissipate Owen felt a surge of energy. But luckily Owen was able to hold it in, as he slowly stood up breathing in all the air he could.

But the air he was inhaling was no longer the stagnant air that filled this dark crater. Now it was full of Essence with every breath, revitalizing his lungs as slight tingles of warmth was felt.
“What a wonderful feeling.”
Owen couldn’t help but speak in admiration. His opinion of Pathwalkers had definitely risen after feeling this. He once again confirmed that he would do his very best to get his sight back and so he could continue to feel this feeling. It was a little selfish but Owen was allowed to be selfish every once in awhile right? After all it was an incredible feeling.
Seeing that Owen was successful on his first attempt Kovinth was incredibly happy for him, as if his disciple’s achievements were his own. He didn’t worry about such things and instead prepared to give him a present, as he wanted to give it to him right away he quickly called out to Owen.
“Owen, come here I have something to congratulate you on successfully stepping onto the Path.”
Owen walked out of the crater, he was momentarily blinded by the light but it wasn’t nearly as bad as when he first gained his vision and thus he only had to blink a few times before he adjusted. He then walked in front of of his master and bowed.
“Thank you Master for this wonderful chance.”
Owen spoke full of respect, but even these words alone were unable to speak how gratified Owen truly was. Nodding happily to his gesture Kovinth quickly picked up his hand and placed his fist into Owen’s palm. This was a usual custom to those who were blind. Someone wishing to gift them something would fully place their fist into their palms and only open when they felt a grip back from the other party. As Owen realized that Kovinth was performing this tradition he slightly gripped onto his master’s fist.
Kovinth didn’t waste anymore time as he giant rough fist released it’s grip lightly dropping a cold metal object onto Owen’s palm. Because Owen was blind he knew that instead of looking at the object because he naturally wouldn’t be able to, he instead closed his fist onto the metal object. He then closed his eyes picturing what the object was inside of his palm. It was round, had a small opening on the bottom but wasn’t large enough for a pinky to fit through. Attached to the end of the round metal object was a string like material. Suddenly from just this alone Owen looked up towards Kovinth and spoke.
“I thank master for the bell.”
As Owen opened up his palm he saw a red coloured bell attached to a black string. It was majestic as it was calming. But as a gift for Owen, there was nothing better. He quickly attached to his other ear as both of his ears were already pierced it did not complicate anything.
Kovinth tightened his rough fist and gave a deep nod full of enthusiasm smiling happily.
“Good! That is called the Wildfire Bell. It will help you control Fire Essence later on. For now it can only help you locate things when you lose your vision again.”
Owen, lightly caressed the bell as it sung a melodic tune. Both he and his master were happy for such an outcome.

It is the last of these that control the hit entertainment show, “Demon Hunters”. A chance, perhaps, for the ordinary man or woman to rise up, and change their fate...
