V2 Chapter 177
When Cian and the Manticore finished fighting, the Harpies stared at them in shock, as well as fear. They were trembling and shaking. However, one of them, the one who was the last to be caught immediately snapped out of her gaze and kneeled in front of Cian, as if she was worshipping him or something while saying gibberish things.
No, it was actually not gibberish, but they were talking in a strange language, which Cian had heard for the first time. It’s like, an American first time hearing Japanese or Chinese in that manner. He couldn't help but frown and thought about the language barrier, worried and annoyed, when suddenly—
He was stunned, his [Night’s Eye] glowed dimly, and some abstruse knowledge surge inside his mind. However, before he can try to understand it, it then elapsed his mind and disappeared. Even trying to recall what they were was impossible.
What was that?
However, what happened next caused his eyes to widen.
“…A, ano…T-Thank you for saving us!”
The Harpy that was kneeling before him suddenly said.
He can understand them…?! Cian was dumbfounded. This must be one of Night’s blessings…! He smiled wryly, calming immediately while praising Night's convenience inside his mind.
“These creatures are…?” he asked.
“They are monsters called Grakilis… they, they, they uwaaaaaaahhhh!!” the Harpies started crying, bawling out in front of him like little girls, causing him to feel awkward.
It seems like the brush of death had truly caused them to fear that they almost break down. Cian was somewhat disturbed by the scene, but seeing one of the girls kept on grabbing his legs even with Leona’s menacing glare, his ice-cold heart somewhat disappeared to somewhere. Smiling wryly, Cian started consoling the frightened Harpies. However, his attention was once again caught by another situation.
“Airah?! Airah, are you okay?! Wake up! Airah!!”
“It’s no use…she, she’s gone…”
“No, no, please, Airaaah!!”
The other Harpies were sobbing and crying as they hold one of the Harpies with the heaviest wounds. Judging from the wounds, it was the Harpy that had her abdomen pierced through during the fight. Indeed, her injuries were far heavier than the others. Even the Harpy that was clinging to Cian turned around and wailed in front of her friends.
“Let me see,”
He muttered as he walked over and took the bleeding Harpy.
“Can, can you save her?”
“I don’t know… but I’ll try,”
“Please save Airah! Please, I’ll do anything you want!!”
“You’re disturbing me, so go away!”
Cian was annoyed and glared at her, causing the Harpies to fearfully step back in fear.
“Hey, you’re still awake, are you?” He called out to the limp harpy, but there was no answer. He then put his face close to the girl’s mouth and looked toward her chest. It was motionless—the Harpy indeed had already stopped breathing. He couldn’t feel any breath from the girl’s nose or mouth, either.
She should have died already.
However, since he still can feel some bit of life force from her, then, there should still be a chance of reviving her—

“...She’s unconscious. Respiration’s stopped as well. And she also has no pulse. I don’t know much about Harpy’s physical structure, but it should be almost similar to humans. Judging from the life-force still present in her body, she should be in a cardiac arrest.”
Cian was already at the Harpy’s neck, taking her pulse. Then, he tilted her head and cleared her airway. He doesn’t know why he was doing this, nor was why he was trying to save this girl…nevertheless, his mind was completely focused on what he was doing.
“I’m going to begin CPR.”
Cian muttered in a habit. What he was talking about, or what he was even doing, no one knows or can understand. However, not one dared to even breathe as they watched him trying to save the Harpy. The three Harpies and even Leona and Lamia stared at him, somewhat entranced by what he was doing.
Finding the Harpy’s sternum, Cian placed both of his hands vertically on top of it. Then, he pressed down on it repeatedly, applying pressure.
Cian was not a doctor, especially one that specialized in monster medicine, but he still had the fundamental knowledge required to treat humans due to his upbringing and lessons from his mother. Since he was supposed to become a doctor in the future if this kind of thing didn’t happen, following the baton of his mother. He certainly had the know-how necessary to perform emergency first aid.
He then coated his hands with faint lightning magic. Small electric sparks appeared around his hands. Although they were not strong enough to kill, in this kind of operation, they are sufficiently enough.
Aside from Death Magic, he can use another Element, and that is [Lightning]. However, since there was no proper teacher for him to teach him [Lightning Element] Magic due to the elemental’s rarity, his mastery over it was inferior compared to his Death Magic. He only knows several basic magic spells under the Lightning Magic System through self-creation and reading books, and this is one of them: [Lightning Clad].
This is not the first time he had done this.
During these two years, whenever the people within the [Garden of Eden] become injured after each mission, sometimes he would move and saved them using his modern knowledge of medicine, which injuries that cannot be saved using mere magic. Especially internal bleeding or Hemorrhage, which the magic follows and works only by what the user only understands theory applied most.
The study of medicine and how the body truly works, along with its parts and internal organs were pitifully low, backward, and inferior to the modern world. They rely too much on magic, that they all depend on it even in healing people. Open wounds are easy, but those complex and hard to understand injuries, they rely on magic to do most work. Therefore, it's like playing gamble. Either can heal, or cannot.
Sometimes, when the injury was fatal, they would even give up saving them, saying magic cannot do it. They didn't know how to perform surgery, and thus, most often those that could still be saved by medical operation can only die.

Cian massaged the Harpy’s heart with the electric sparks. Proper and accurate control was needed for this. However, with mastery of magic power due to his [Magic Eye], barely anyone could compare to him in this world.
Not much time had passed since the Harpy had stopped breathing. Cian continued to repeatedly press down on her chest. After doing so over twenty to thirty times, he went to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on the girl, when—
“Glaugh!”
The Harpy spat out a breath with a strong retch.
Cian got sprayed by the spit when she woke up, but he didn’t mind—what mattered was that the girl was breathing again.
The three Harpies shrieked and cried out in happiness when they saw their friend once again woke up. Even Leona roared in excitement—it’s as if she was declaring on the world, that’s my master, right there!
Even the gaze of the small snake coiled at the top of Leona seemed somewhat impressed as she watched Cian’s actions in full interest. In fact, she also knows that even with healing magic, that harpy is already a lost cause. But to think he can still save her from the jaws of death. What an intriguing performance.
“Wh, what…ha, happened? Who, who are you?”
The Harpy who had awakened looked at Cian with a pale expression.
Looking at her closely, she was actually quite a beauty—well, looking at the other harpies, it seems like their race was quite blessed with an appearance just like the books say. She had long brown hair and fair white skin, with a slender body and a beautiful face. Though her build was quite petite and even her beauty was child-like.
It was shrouded with grace and strong will, with contradicting qualities playing in her expression like trick art. Though, her pale expression can evoke tender care from men, as if trying to awaken their urge to spoil her and take care of her.
“Don’t move yet, your wound still bleeding. If you fainted again, even I wouldn’t be able to save you,”
Cian pressed his palm gently against the Harpy, trying to lay her head again on the ground.
The most problematic right now, now that he was able to bring her back to life, was her wound. Cian was not that proficient in healing magic, as most healing magic was under [Water] and [Light] element. Although he can use [Life Drain] it would be of no use if there’s no living target to drain the life force from.
I should have left one alive…
What to do?
Hunting now wouldn’t make it in time…
Cian sigh and decided to withdraw a Healing Potion from his Storage Ring.
“Drink this,” he muttered as he softly pressed the tip of the glass bottle on the Harpy’s mouth, and slowly poured the contents.
The Harpy looked down and a shade of red spread across her face. However, she still did what he wanted, though a bit confused—what’s going on here? Since she can feel any hostility or malice from him, the Harpy knows that Cian wasn’t an enemy. In addition to that, she can also see her friends looking at her with worried expressions.
Cian looked at the bottle that was slowly being chugged down.
A 3rd Grade Healing Potion is quite expensive.
Healing Potions are divided into several Grades, with Grade 1 being the most inferior type of recovery potion and 5 being the highest. In the current era, Grade 1 to 3 was the only Potions remaining in the world, while those beyond that have been lost for centuries already. The method of making it as well as the ingredients had been lost in time.
Of course, Grade 4 and 5 can still be found anywhere in the world, though deep within the ruins and labyrinths. And whenever they appeared in the market, even a Royal Family would empty their treasury just to obtain it.
Nevertheless, their appearance is one in a million chance.
They are treated as priceless treasures.
Grade 1 and 2 were the common ones, while Grade 3 Potions are expensive and only high-level Alchemists could make them. That is why it’s quite rare for a Grade 3 Potion to appear in the market. Even Cian only has several of them. In addition, the Materials to make them are hard to find.
When the Harpy finished drinking all of it, Cian stored the bottle. Glass Bottles are expensive. They are not similar to those clay ones. Then, Cian once again withdraws a potion bottle, but unlike the Healing Potion, the liquid inside the glass bottle was dyed in yellow.
“Drink this as well…”
“This is…?”
“Don’t ask, just drink it… you’ll need it,”
Cian’s voice seemed to have some charm on them as the Harpy did what he wanted and slowly drink the yellow potion, even without him forcing her. Her expression soured, though, as she felt it was too bitter.
What kind of medicine is this?
“All good medicines are bitter,” Cian said with a grin.
When she finished drinking all of it, the Harpy’s consciousness turned blurry and she fainted.
As expected of Sibylla’s work, it’s extremely effective.
Cian mused as he checked the Harpy’s condition. With the healing potion, her life-force had now been stabilized. Now, there’s already no danger that it would die down so suddenly without warning. Although Healing Potions are miraculous, it wasn’t actually that amazing.
Yes, lighter injuries would heal in no time. However, it would still take time and not instantaneous.
Only the legendary Grade 5 Elixir could have such effects.
Hence, even though the harpy had drunk a Grade 3 Healing Potion, her life was actually still in danger. The hole in her stomach was not so light it would easily close down. If not attended, she would bleed to death even after drinking a High-level Potion.
The wound was quite large and fatal even—thus, it must be closed if he wanted to save her.
