V2 Chapter 31
“What!?”
“Take the Boss life!? Did I hear wrong?”
No one was able to understand what was happening. This was the Bloodhole Gang’s domain, and someone dared threaten to take the life of the Gang’s leader? Were these words that a normal person would say?
Not just that, but this was said by a single man. Even though his momentum was formidable, just what would he able to do?
“Mister seems to be joking,”
“… oh do I look like a Clown?” Cian under his mask grinned and when he waved his hand, a powerful shockwave was emitting, as if the air was being pushed, sending the man blasting away.
“Ah! What?!” When the other people saw this they immediately retreated back several steps and shouted, “HELP! HELP! Someone is here to wreck the place!” Within a few moments, a group of people came out. When one of them saw Cian's black-clothed figure, he shouted, “Do you know where you are?! You bastard you’re courting death!!”
“Blah, blah, blah~ I’m just carrying an invitation, why so much fuss?” Cian’s words echoed in the hall and then, he disappeared only to reappeared just before the acting leader and his fist punched out, hitting the pit of the man’s stomach with his full might. The man’s blue hair swayed and his body was caved in the wall, fainted. Dead or alive, no one knows.
Unable to understand the situation at hand, the people around him were momentarily dumbfounded. Their hostilities then turned into real bloodlust and pointed their weapons at him. Well, although it was intense bloodlust and killing intent, for Cian, on the contrary, the serious bloodlust that turns to him becomes like soft warmth for the moment.
When was the last time he had felt countless killing intent pouring onto him like this before?
While being assaulted by nostalgia, Cian’s body reacted and rushed over to them.
“Eh? Wh-!?” The group was startled but Cian didn’t care. Under his mask, there was a blood-crazed grin. He then stepped on the foot from someone close to him, the foot was turned into meat paste in an instant, as if being stomped by a thousand ton and then before he could scream, he struck his elbow into his throat, carrying all his weight. He didn’t hold back in any of his movements.
The poor guy went flying, slammed into the wall, with a partially crushed windpipe, and was now foaming at the mouth. His body loosened and he was stumbling.
Seeing this, Cian was quite surprised, “Eh? The neck was not blown off. Errr~… Was his neck protected by magic strengthening? Or his body was just that strong, amazing… truly amazing,” With a half-hearted praise, Cian tilt his head to the others and his body…disappeared.
Baaaaang!!! Before anyone could react, Cian’s figure appeared just in the center of the group and when they were about to attack him, their body was sent blasted away one after another, without knowing what had happened. It’s as if someone had punched them, kicked them and even rammed a hammer on their head, chest, and legs.
Chaos appeared in the once lively tavern. Everyone started to flee randomly causing the scene to be extremely chaotic.
Without caring about his surrounding, the helm of his black clothes fluttered; “ARGHH!” A mournful shriek resounded through the entire building. Cian once again launched himself at one of the men still breathing and like an eagle, slicing the unfortunate man all the way from his neck to his waist from behind using the sudden appearance of a black sword. Then, Cian twisted his body in the air, and the sword, turned into a small dagger, striking into the skull of the man closer to him, from under his chin.

Cian showed absolutely no remorse.
He started dancing…
Blood spewed, painting the walls and floor and even rivers and pools of blood appeared. Cian then plucked his sword from the dead body and sent the corpse flying with a kick, then from his waist, he pulled a small ordinary-looking dagger out and threw the dagger straight at the other man. It landed in his chest and pierced his heart. But it should not be dead yet, so with a kick, he breaks the demon’s neck.
Some immediately chanted low-class magic spells; fireballs, fire lances, wind blades and whatever kind of spells they know, they throw at Cian without care. However, when they think they succeeded, the spells they throw only prove worthless and even a mistake, as these spells just bounced off Cian as if it was a ball made of rubber and instead, attack those near him.
“Mo, Monsterrrr!!”
“Hiii!! A monster!!”
So rude… Cian frowned. How dare they call him a monster!
“You, you monster……!” The warrior pulled out his greatsword and slashed at Cian from above. “DIEEE!!” Clang! Cian drew ghostly lines in the air as he parried the incoming attacks easily with his black dagger. With a leisure air around him, Cian sidestepped as he sliced the man’s torso with his sword after the demon’s three-hit move ended.
The Demon was a careful person. He was an Elder of the Gang and had a quite large influence. He was confident in his strength and speed, but for some reason, he couldn’t pinpoint or predict then person’s movement and even couldn’t land a hit. And every struck he would with the enemy’s sword, his arm starting to go numb. Just what is going on…?
“Guh?!” Blood oozed out of the man’s waist. The injured warrior covered the wound with his hand, but he soon felt a sense of numbness.
“This is…?! Poison! You coward!! You use poison?!” The Man’s expression paled as he felt his body losing out in strength. Then, he heard a chuckle, “Well, I am not a warrior. I am a Killer, so why do you think I wouldn’t use poison? Don’t tell me you’re one of those, ‘If you’re a man, fight me fairly’? That’s amusing~” Cian chuckled and seem to be having fun.
“You!! Just where did we offend you?! Who ask you to pull this shit?!” The man cried out in anger and despair.
“Ask me? No way, I’m sooo expensive and so no one has the capability to hire me. You lot just pricked on my nerves, you actually insulted my servant, in front of me? Haha, that is signing up King Yama’s death certificate, you know. Besides, I also came here in order to pull out roots of any unwanted weeds~” Cian patiently explained. “…for future troubles. Just blame that idiotic imp on the afterlife, bye bye,” Cian’s body flickered. And before the Demon could defend himself, his vision suddenly turned upside down… his head was severed on his neck and his headless body retained kneeling on the ground.
Turning his head towards the front, Cian scrutinized the two people approaching, one from the front and one behind him. In fact, Cian had already noticed them the moment they appeared. However, because these two didn’t seem to have any plans to sneak attacking him, Cian paid no further attention to them and just killed those around him.
By this point, the two middle-aged men, one came from a beastman race due to the fact that his head was that of a leopard while the other has some similarities to that of an undead—probably a high ranking zombie. He’s not a Ghoul, though, just a bit similar. They halted their steps ten meters away from Cian, a bit wary as they stood still.

The leopard-faced man’s eyes inspected Cian up and down while his lips arched in a friendly smile, “This Lil’ Bro, may I know which faction you’re from, how shall I address you?”
“…hm, ah that’s right, although I did come for your boss, I still should have introduced myself, right?” Cian nodded his head. “Well, you can call me, Killer—nice to meet ya’all, fellas~”
“Ho, Killer is it… then, may I know why is Little Brother wreaking our place and causing chaos? Don’t you know what kind of place this is…?” he leopard-face man frowned a bit.
“Ah, well, actually, I did come here peacefully. But your manager is just too rude—he actually wanted me to get beat up when I just came here to kill your boss, isn’t that unreasonable~?” Cian sigh, “…right?”
“You want to kill our boss?” Hearing those words, the leopard face man’s expression fell. Although he had already planned to capture Cian after seeing his appearance which was extremely identical to the one sad to have killed the son of the Second Leader, he was in no hurry to do so before he has an idea about Cian’s background, for instance, which faction this daredevil belonged to.
The Bloodhole Gang wasn’t weak by the Okmahun Demon City’s standard, but still, before certain hegemony existences, they were no different than an insignificant ant. By chance, this young man was one of those existences’ people, or worse, someone with a special status, the leopard-faced man, as the Elder of the Bloodhole Gang, would surely think twice before making a move.
Otherwise, if he mistakenly provoked a tyrannical existence without knowing, he risked being turned into slag.
Cian had already known what two these were thinking by the look on their faces. Sneering secretly he repeated in a taciturn manner, “So, will you also stop me here? Or lead me happily to your boss?”
The zombie-faced man revealed a kind smile but its eyes revealed a cold smile, “…don’t you think this is just a misunderstanding? And also, kill our boss? I don’t think that would be possible…”
“Whether it’s possible or not, you wouldn’t know it—or are you saying that you can stop me?” Cian cut in. Cracks appeared on the floor beneath him.
Both the leopard-faced and zombie-faced middle-aged men were stunned, neither expected Cian would be so ‘arrogant and direct.’ Exchanging a glance between them, there was faint doubt in their eyes as their attention fell on Cian once again.
Is he that confident on his power…? Who is this man?
Where does this man’s confidence come from? Both of them could tell Cian was just a youth who might know a bit of combat power but does he really think that he can mow down an entire organization this easily. With them joining to attack, this man would have no chance to escape.
“Make your move.” While both were still stumped, Cian spoke again, “I’m giving you one chance, letting you make the first move. Otherwise, you might regret it not showing your secret move in the afterlife, I would be feeling guilty~” Hearing this, the two of them frowned as they stared at Cian, confusion, and vigilance spiked as they exchanged another glance. Yet, no one still moved.
Cian saw their wavering and shook his head. He smiled sardonically watching these two people’s hesitation “Weren’t both of you wanted to stop me? Capture me? What you scared? Should I make the first move…?” The hooded figure tilted his head. Although it looks like an innocent gesture but for some reason, under the two people’s eyes, he looks menacing. “…then, here I come~”
Before they realized what happened, Cian leaped up, his two hands formed into claws and slashed out in opposite directions. From Cian attack, two huge arcs of invisible blades that look-like wind blades tore across space. A fissure runs through the ground like a sword was running and cutting it. It was followed by a piercing cry as if scraping metals.
Watching the two huge invisible wind blades targeting them, the leopard-faced and zombie-faced middle-aged men were alarmed, instantly jumping back to dodge, releasing their magic powers at the same time, aiming a fist to counter Cian’s attack.
“Leopard Break!”
“Feral Undead!”
Both men shouted at the same time. Their attacks were shrouded in a perceivable death aura, accompanied by a nauseating smell that withered the air, akin to a hundred-year-old rotting corpse laid bare. In a split second, their fist imprints collided with Cian’s wind breaking blades created from controlling the vector of the wind. Boom! A loud impact resounded like the crackle of a vengeful thunderbolt. Air currents shook violently, blasting out in all four directions, sand and dust rose as crack lines zigzagged on the floor and walls of the building, deepening into fissures.
What horrified the two men most was that Cian’s wind blades did not dissipate after the collision, instead, they continued towards them.
Just when they wanted to swerve away, the wind blades already arrived before them, striking their torso accurately. Both men plummeted to the ground with a tragic scream, raising another screen of dust and sand. Poof! Crashing into the ground, blood spurted from their mouth, dyeing the floor dark red. A horrifying cut like that of a sword appeared on their chest.
When they were about to jump back to regain their bearings, suddenly a slender hand suddenly reached out and grabbed on the leopard-faced man’s wrist. “Let go of me you bastard!!” the leopard-faced man cried out in anxiety and fear while trying to pull his hand back. However, he suddenly realized he couldn't even move his wrist. He tried continuously using his strength to break away but to no avail.
What's happening...
How is this man so strong?
One must know, he was extremely confident on his strength as a beastman. It was no less inferior compared to the Demons. However, it was as if he was being restrained tightly by an iron claw. After many attempts to free himself, the leopard-faced man’s expression changed slightly. He was suddenly assailed by a strange feeling that seemed to cause his strength to slowly wilt away inside of him. His head becoming lighter as he was assailed by a drowsiness that is hard to fight against with. What’s happening…? The leopard-faced man stared at the eyes glaring at him back and the world slowly distorted—
“…you’re strong, so I hate to kill someone like you… why don’t you sleep for now…?” A mischievous voice reached his ears and before he could answer, his vision turned blank and fell down on the ground. Seeing his companion suddenly fell down on the ground, his life and death unknown—a terrified expression appeared on the zombie undead.
“You, you cannot be!” he looked fearfully at Cian, there was a shock, disbelief, and discernible fear in their eyes. Both of them can be said to be powers comparable to at least Baron Class Demons of the Demon World ranking, yet in a joint attack, they were the ones being gravely injured by a single man so easily! This is something he couldn’t believe. Among the warriors within the Okmahun Demon City, he can be at least considered decent but now… in front of this person, he felt helpless…!
Cian approached slowly, ignoring the shock on his face, his cold voice sounded, “As I’ve said earlier, I gave you a chance to attack first but you didn’t appreciate my good intention. I’m hurt~”
Struggling to get up, he hastily moved back in panic. “You, what do you want to do?!” the Undead repressed the fear in his heart, asking the approaching Cian aloud.
“What do I want to do?” Cian chuckled in amusement, “…that’s a very funny question at this very moment. Is that something…like, you know, a novel-like flow…”
“You, don’t you know where you ar—” Before he could finish, Cian’s silhouette blurred in a flicker, disappearing in mid-air. In the next instant, he appeared right in front of him, hands poised for another attack, the zombie raised his hands in defense half a beat too late, as Cian’s fist once again struck their chests, sending him flying. Guha?! The zombie man spouted blood as he slid down from the cracked of the wall.
“Actually, I’m thinking of ‘collecting’ you as well, but too bad… you’re an undead. I don’t have that high of a chance of enslaving an undead…too bad, I don’t need you…”
“Wai—!” But Cian didn’t want to hear whatever he wanted to say. A black figure shot towards the zombie man and under the demon’s widened eyes, its head sprawled on the ground, rolling half a meter away from the body. Cian stepped forward and stomped on the head—with a boom! the head exploded into a flesh of meats and brain matters. When Cian raise his foot, a green crystal-like thing could be seen, broken into two.
Undead like zombies would not die that easily even if you decapitated them, even if you pierced their hearts, it’s no use—the only that could kill them, the thing that which is important to them was the Mana Crystal similar to every monster located in their brain. Undead like zombies is treated not as demons but monsters instead…!
“Boss Fang! Boss Dye!!” As Cian was crushing the zombie man’s mana crystal, a loud voice suddenly rang out, it was then followed by several heavy footsteps. When Cian turned around, he saw that from the staircase towards the third floor, several people led by a pig-headed man with greyish skin rushed out. When they saw the second floor’s situation as well as the leopard-faced man and the zombie man’s condition, the pig-headed man couldn’t help but call out in alarm.
Cian stared at the pig-headed man. Looking at its skin and appearance as well as its aura, it seemed to be a High Orc. Several people behind him have lizard heads so they must be lizardmen… hm…
“You bastard!! I don’t care who you are but you will leave your life here tonight!!” The pig-headed fatty cried out in anger. “What are you still doing?! Kill him for me!!!” With those orders, the people behind him, probably over twenty people or something, they all charged forward like devils and monsters towards the black-clothed man wearing a plain mask. He has black hair and from the slender figure, the pig-headed fatty immediately thought of him as a kid.

Paths of the Chosen (Rewritten, Revised, and Reinvigorated)
Daniel Stewart was chosen to alpha test a brand new Immersive VR game, "The Realms". What he doesn't know is that he has also been Chosen by one of the Powers of a far-off world, and is now a pawn in a game much bigger than any he thought he would ever participate in. Will he survive and thrive in this strange new world, or will he stumble and fall, shattered by the ambitions of another? Does he have what it takes to walk the Paths of the Chosen?---Inspired by the Chaos Seeds novels, TheDespaxas's The Gamer, and a wide variety of games and books, although the world, characters, and systems are my own. Expect high fantasy, magic, combat and intrigue, love and loss, grief and passion. This story is intended for adult audiences and contains explicit sexual content, profanity, and violence (including sexual violence, although not by the protagonist and not as a focus of the story). Chapters with such content will be clearly marked, and all explicit sexual content will be behind spoiler tags. I prefer my stories to have happy endings, and especially in these uncertain times, I feel that it is important to maintain hope. While this tale will reach some dark places, I promise to you that, when all is said and done, the villains will be justly punished and the heroes will prevail and prosper. Remember: it is darkest before dawn, but dawn always comes. Please note also that although this story does not have the [Harem] tag, it does have an extremely slow build into a polyamorous relationship. Additionally, starting with Champion (book two of the series), the [Multiple Lead Characters], [Female Lead], and [Non-Human Lead] tags would also apply to varying degrees. This is a complete, ground-up rewrite of the original Paths of the Chosen, following feedback from here and elsewhere. It is now written in the third-person limited omniscient perspective and in the past tense. In addition, while the major plot beats are unchanged, most of what comes between them has been reconsidered and rewritten, with pacing and characterization as a special focus.---Update schedule: 2 chapters per week (Monday and Thursday), not counting bonus chapters. Chapter length is roughly 2,500 words on average, +/- 1,000 words. Chapters with explicit content tend to be longer so that they are still worth reading for those who would prefer a fade to black. --- Cover art by Agri Karuniawan (@artofagri). The Adventurer's Guild(master)
In a world of adventure, magic, and kingdoms, only one man can keep it all from falling apart. As much as he wished that wasn't the case. This is the story of the man who became the guild master of the most prestigious adventurer's guild in the kingdom, and then came to completely regret that decision, as he is forced to keep the peace, file paperwork, and babysit adventurers. The life of a guild master is not as great as it once seemed. Note: The prologue is an extended -probably should have not took it that far- joke and is completely skippable from the rest of the series. This is my first work on this website, or on any website to be honest, so criticism is more than welcome. Feel free to leave comments on any chapter, not just the latest one.
