《The Blood Prince》Chapter 47

Chapter 47
The wind blew powerfully. The clock strikes twelve while a lone boy, stood on the roof of a building to conceal his body using shadows of the night--he squinted slightly.
The street lights did not reach the Mansion a ways from the center of the city. With the black of the river running below as well, the area seemed to have sunken into darkness.
*Pata, Pata, Pata—drips of water echoed in the surrounding.
— Ice cold rain. Rain accompanied by a squall.
The pain seems to go deep into the marrows just by being drenched by it. It was as though crystallized ice had rained down...... That was how icy the downpour was.
The crazy torrents were like tears of heaven, that nearly chiseled through the roofs. From the surrounding came the sound of rumbling water, which had exceeded what should be the sound of rainfalls - calling it a waterfall would have been more appropriate.
For how long had it been raining?
The rainfall from the distant borders of the sky had already broken all previous records. However, the rain did not seem to be waning at all.
*da*
The sound of the dripping water reverberated in the cold, bright night sky.
Cian stood at the top of the rooftop of the Mansion, as his lips curled upwards with a slight, yet sorrowful smile. He lifted his head to look at the pitch dark sky that was releasing rain.
—A mysterious scene.
The rain bounced away from his body while shining in the bright light before it even managed to strike on him.
As though there was an invisible barrier of light that separated him from the rain.
“All around me are familiar faces
Worn-out places, worn-out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head, I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow”
… Suddenly, Cian’s mouth opened and words came out one by one. Solemn, soft and somewhat sorrowful… his voice echoed in the place, along with the sound of raindrops.
He continued singing softly.
“And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had—”
[ Mad World ] A 1982 song by the British band Tears for Fears back on Earth. Written by Roland Orzabal and sung by bassist Curt Smith. The song was influenced by the theories of Arthur Janov, author of The Primal Scream, and the lyric 'The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had' suggests that dreams of intense experiences such as death will be the best at releasing tension.

Though, it achieved a second round of success 20 years after its release, when it was covered by Michael Andrews and Gary Jules. Today, Cian was particularly sincere and couldn't control the emotions in his voice. Some of his pitch changes were all over the place as he didn't even try to control his voice!
That was because Cian liked this song very much… after all, it describes Cian’s world quite well—a [ Mad World ] all while thinking that one can fool oneself into thinking everything is great. Furthermore, this was the very first day after two years of abstinence from killing, did he took someone’s life…again.
“—I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad world, mad world”
Far from the Mansion, The Demon Empress Sitana and the rest of the people stood there,
Everyone was stunned with their mouths agape!
All of the people waiting for Cian and watching what he was going to do next, had seemingly gotten their tails stepped on as they nearly jumped up in shock!
He was singing…!
Sing…
Singing?!
He is Singing??!!
What is he doing… singing in that kind of place…?!
The Empress Sitana was shocked. Ruka was shocked. Roathuaria and her daughters were shocked. The Vampire Lord and the other generals who were present were all shocked.
Who had ever heard the Second Prince sing? Absolutely no one, k?!
“Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday, happy birthday
And to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello, teacher, tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me”
Cian grit his teeth. A complex swirl of emotions seemed to roil within him!
His life so far had been very difficult. He just wanted a peaceful life but why is he always dragged into chaos…? Even to the point of breaking through logic and dragged him into this strange, mad world…?
Flowing Time gasped!
Different expressions were shifting and running across the Infamous Prince face!
Currently, all of their reactions were similar!
Shock!
Enthrallment!
Astonishment!
Disbelief!
The prince who cared nothing but women and sex, who doesn’t have any interest in arts and literature whatsoever, was actually singing a song…? And damn it, although it has no musical accompaniment whatsoever, it was, unexpectedly, good.
Such a deep, low, authoritative voice. It sounds just too good!
Misty-eyed.
Such amazing resonance in his chest voice!

Then the suddenly, the atmosphere seemed to have changed, as the Second Prince suddenly laughed!
His current impression gave the feeling of someone standing with arms crossed as an onlooker over the world.
He laughed without restraint—though, for someone listening to him, they would feel as if he was crying!
“—And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had,”
The chorus came to an abrupt halt. Echoing through the surrounding, the singing suddenly became speaking. Cian’s voice turned solemn and full of ice cold: "…Thou know'st 'tis common; all that lives must die,”
“--Passing through nature to eternity."
Quoted from William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Then, Cian sigh and continued, "…He that dies pays all debts.” and from The Tempest, in the 3rd act, he quoted last. “Thus, old friend, your debt has been repaid. Let me give you a farewell, fitting for your status.”
Though not need to forgive me for what I have done, but let us see each other in due time, at the deepest part of Hell...
“…The start and end can't be changed, anyhow. In Hell, let’s share a drink and drowns on our past…”
Today you lose, thus I shall carry your baton with me… and live…
Cian’s voice resonated throughout the area!
When they heard the last verse, the Empress and the others were suddenly enlightened!
This song… the poem… is for those who he had killed today…?!!
For what…?
Guilt…?
Conscience…?
Oh my god!
What's happening with this world?
...this mad, twisted world...finally truly gone...insane, for reals?!!
They felt as though that this world had gone crazy at this moment!
The emotions and impression coming from the Second Prince were completely diverging from their original understanding. Cian’s cruel and cold persona a while ago seemed to be a completely different person from what they are seeing right now!
“…I didn’t know he had the talents for singing…”
Everyone looked at one another and could see the shock in one another's eyes!
As a royalty, a Prince nonetheless, his etiquette skill would undoubtedly not be bad. After all, even if they are demons, they know how to act properly, unlike the savages and barbarians from the ancient times. They have honor, pride, nobility, and society. Although cannot be compared with humans, Demons had their own unique culture and arts that they loved and adore. Thus, the Second Prince knowing a bit of an art is not really that exaggerating.
But at most, it should only be not bad. For him to be able to sing and compose such lyrics and uttered a poem to the highest level was practically impossible.
This is because singing and composing poems requires a large amount of time and practice to accumulate skill and experience, talents and artistic sense and requires a person to fully invest their heart and mind into it. So what was happening right now was something that was not explainable by the Second Prince's status as a renowned Casanova and scum who don’t have the least bit of interest in such gentlemanly skills such as Arts and Literature--in which, borrowing his words--'Extremely Boring!'?
The Second Prince was like an unfamiliar strange they had never seen before as he stood at the top, alone, his figure extremely sorrowful and lonely. He momentarily paused. The night wind blew on Cian’s bangs making them wave like a nameless flower blooming in a graveyard. And the icy cold rain wetted his appearance, turning the sorrowful impression stronger. Then, suddenly, he lifted his arms above his head like he was trying to grab the invisible moon.
With a roar, the flow of the wind started to swirl around.
In an instant, under the Empress and the group’s dumbfounded expression, a large atmospheric swirl that looked like a hole had opened in the world had taken a spherical form above Cian’s head. Rubbles and trees in the area were swept up with it and that giant swirl of destruction with a radius of a few dozen meters gave its joyous birth cry. Even the icy cold rain swirled like an icy cyclone!
Just like a certain Accelerator, Cian’s power allowed him to change the vectors of anything he touched. Motion, heat, electricity. Whatever kind of power it was, he could freely control it as long as it had a vector.
And now, the wind that gives the world life turned into a weapon in his hands!
“I don’t have fireworks… but let me give you something similar… Rest In Pieces… Old Friends…!” Tooh!! Cian leaped into the air and, that sphere of destruction created from the world’s atmosphere sliced through the air as Cian swung down both his hands towards the direction of the Mansion of once one of the infamous Dukes in the Demon Empire.
The Mansion exploded as if it had been smashed into pieces by an invisible fist of a giant…!

A Requiem For The End
Yuga wakes up on a cold, frigid land entirely covered in snow. Where was he? Who was he? Neither of these could he remember but he didn't have time to think of it, he could tell danger wasn't far. A quick death if he failed to avoid it. It was fast approaching and much as he tried to escape, it quickly caught up with him. Luckily he had survived, but was he just lucky or was there something more to him.....? A Requiem For The End is a fantasy story set in a world.......well, quite different from most stories you might have seen (I honestly don't know how to better describe it). Early into the story (prologue) the world feels elusive because you slowly learn about it through the eyes of Yuga. As you read on questions may arise in your mind and mysteries will present themselves. The answers to them will come the further you read. I'd like to think the plot is a bit larger than the average and same goes for the world building. If you find this story intriguing then all I can say is - There's a lot for me to tell, hop on?
