《Towards the Light》Back in Town

Author’s Preamble: I guess most people liked that Lilith was back. It made me pretty happy as well. Now, I noticed LengZai wanted a pov of the Veila Moon, so I thought: why not? To Mr. Sunderkeenin, they will get their just deserts. Abrum will personally make sure of that with his Tsuki. Also, there may not be many chapters for the coming 2 weeks. I’m applying for a job that will require me to work 9 hours a day, 5 days a week. But, hey. That will provide money. Anyway, Rate, Comment, tell people about the fic, and leave a GIF. (This chapter is kinda a teaser like the last chapter.)

{{Abrum’s POV}}

Abrum was strolling through the streets. He was in a very good mood. Lilith was wrapped around his arm as they strolled down, and in their wake were the two fluffy vassals. Aleqe had told Abrum the fox twins were at the Adventurer’s guild because they had been taking requests as of late, putting their training to good use. Abrum had to turn in the Mad Vampire quest anyway, so he decided to cash it in and wait for the fox twins there.

They had arrived without any trouble. The adventurers were all in a frenzy about something.

“Did you hear?”

“Seems like the weekly escortation team was wiped out.”

“So… no elves?”

Abrum’s face transformed from one of happiness to one of determination.

‘Even the players take part in the depravity…I guess the capital will have to literally burn.’ Thought Abrum as he walked up to the desk for his reward.

“I’m here to receive compensation for the Mad Vampire quest.”

“Of course sir. Is the lovely lady upon your arm a part of your party?”

Abrum had to ponder that for a second. She had set out with him, but had not made it to the vampire part. He wasn’t sure what to make of it.

“I was not in the party at the time of completion. I was incapacitated upon our way there.” Said Lilith with a great amount of technicality.

“That is still grounds for compensation. I will be right back.” Replied the clerk and went into the back. She came back with two bags that jingled when it shook

Abrum smiled a small bit when taking the bags and sat down at one of the tables with Lilith.

“Now, how did you know about that?”

“I’m a very smart girl. Now, why don’t you tell me what happened after we were… separated.”

“Well, do I have a story for you.” Abrum said.

He began to recount the events that had happened from the purification of the guardians, him changing into a Silver Angaellis along with obtaining a new class, the fight with the 200 wolves, the destruction of the vampire, the encounter and subsequent swallowing of Veila Moon, to the destruction of the slavers. Lilith made a few comments here and there such as:

“11 guardians? 10 of them are female?!”

“Blood of the Silver Angaellis? So it’s an even more powerful aphrodisiac at night… fufufufu…”

“You trapped an elf in your shadow? How does that work?”

When he told her about the slavers, he got the most interesting response.

“So, when do we start?” she asked with a curious look in her eyes.

“Start what?” Abrum asked confused. What in the world could she be talking about.

“Destroying the city of course. You wouldn’t let that poor elf’s death go unavenged.”

Abrum was taken aback and smiled a big ol smile.

He picked up fluffy Ugothir and put him on his lap. He held his two forepaws and made him stand on his hind legs.

“We have to wait till the rest of these come back.” Abrum said. Ugothir yipped cutely as he lay on Abrum’s lap, getting his belly rubbed.

Lilith was about to say something, but then looked down suddenly. Orthir was pawing at her shin with her soft leather paw. And she was cheating. Orthir used the puppy eyes. Lilith just smiled and picked up Orthir and started to rub her tummy.

“How are these fluff balls going to help take down the capital?”

“Quite honestly, I’m pretty sure that I could destroy the capital right now with this.” He brought Tsuki out from under the table and showed it to Lilith. “However, if I were to destroy the capital now, I would kill many innocents, and then, I wouldn’t be much better than the nobles. It will take time to prepare the measures to spare the innocents.”

Lilith nodded and continued to rub the fluffy Orthir.

“When do you think the twins will be back?”

“Probably not for a while. They usually come back around late evening, so, maybe another hour?”

So, Lilith and Abrum just sat and talked. Until… something its head on the underside of the table.

{{Veila’s POV}}

As I saw my last glimpse of day, I swore to myself to destroy that incompetent b*stard. He just took away what my ancestors had worked for centuries to obtain. He must have used some trick. He had to have. She swore to end him. End him and all that were related to him.

However, that promise seemed null and void now. Ever since that day, I have been surrounded by darkness, left alone with my thoughts. The darkness seemed to go on forever. There seemed to be no concept of time and space. I had lived 165 solar cycles before coming into the shadow. Now, I do not know how long it has been. Hours, or even full cycles. There is no concept of time. Only the Black Cloud that comes and attack relentlessly. It has taken away my will to keep the promise I swore to myself.

I have lost count of the times the black cloud has visited. At first, I dreaded its arrival. Dreaded it like the day of destruction. It never brought pain or harm to me, it brought something much more dangerous. The mind shattering, leg wetting pleasure. That is what it brought.

I lasted maybe 4 or 5 visits from the black cloud before my will started to break. Looking back, I’m amazed that I lasted that long. I can only attribute it to the Yurati training that I endured my whole life.

(Author’s Note: Yurati is the elven equivalent of a shinobi / kunoichi)

Around the 10th visit, I started to look forward to the cloud’s visits. Now, after innumerable visits from the cloud, I can’t even think of a life without the cloud. My Nimbus. Nimbus would sometimes talk to me as well, whispering sweet honeyed words into my sensitive ears. I believed everything it said. It said Abrum was my lord. I have no idea who this Abrum person is, but I don’t care. Previously, I would have been cautious, but it is the Black Cloud. It is the only thing that has stayed beside me for my incarceration, no, my liberation, so I will believe it, whatever it tells me. I will always be able to tell. The black cloud has a specific pleasure that is different and more decadent than anything I have experienced in my 165 cycles.

My vengeance seems so unimportant now. So foolish.

I could enjoy the life of darkness. With Nimbus. Even now, it’s coming back to bring me back. The cloud is descending. Take me sweet cloud. My Nimbus.

{But the sweet pleasure she was so accustomed to wasn’t in this cloud. No, this cloud had a different purpose. The cloud had become more substantial and now lifted her out of the dark room. The ceiling opened into light and she was thrust out into the world again, right in the middle of the adventurer’s guild, which was where Abrum was.}

{{Abrum’s POV}}

The sudden noise startled Abrum and he rocked back in his chair.

Ugothir stood upon his lap and raised his fluffy hackles, and growled at whatever was under the table. Orthir on the other hand, had a great big grin on her fluffy face and she jumped under the table. Abrum looked at Lilith with a quizzical look and bent down to look under the table.

There, under the table, was Veila Moon, in a position unbefitting of a Trelay’s head. She had her face pressed against the floor where Abrum’s shadow was. She had her rear up in the air and he was using her hands to scrape at the floor.

“…n-no… Take me back… I-I’ll be good… please… Take me back… N-nimbus….” She pleaded to the floor, or rather, to the shadow. It was quite a pitiful sight, her scraping at the floor. Lilith looked up at Abrum with an interesting expression. Abrum just had a flabbergasted expression.

“So that’s how it works…” Lilith said with an odd expression.

Abrum ignored that comment and reached out and touched her on the shoulder, with only good intentions in his heart.

“H-hey? Veila was it? Are you alright? You shouldn’t be on the floor like that.” He said, as he moved her out from under the table. However, as soon as his bared hand touched her bare shoulder, her back suddenly arched, bending her lithe, well-proportioned body.

He let go suddenly and backed away. He thought he had hurt her, but it was the exact opposite. She looked up at him with clouded green eyes. She then opened her mouth.

“NIMBUS!”
