As the light began to clear, Abrum’s eyes became wide. He couldn’t believe the scene which lay in front of him. The two white foxes had undergone an astonishing change. No longer were these foxes pure white. These little ones, well, not so little any more, were no longer small timid and afraid. They were majestic. They had gold, swirling patterns that traced their bodies until they connected at the gold tipped tail and ears. They looked a bit confused.

*Ding*

The sound of a skill being learnt. Abrum checked the box that appeared in front of him.

Skill Name:Skill Rank:Skill Level:Skill Experience:Mark of the AngaellisBeginner356.8%The mark given by and Angaellis. Will protect the bearer from any kind of subjugation class magic. Some creatures will be offered the ability to shift into a more humanoid form. To apply this mark, one must have a high intimacy with the markee. The bearer of the mark will gain properties of the Angaellis that gave the mark. Whoever or whatever is affected with the mark will have the ability to respawn after 4 days if killed. These benefits only apply if one continues to serve under the Angaellis that gave the mark. The bearer of the mark will have an increase in experience. The amount of the increase is dependent upon the level of the mark. The higher the mark level, the higher level creatures it can affect. Allows communication between the Angaellis and the creature. Unlike subjugation magic, the bearer of the mark retains their free will. Does not work on players.

Abrum’s eyes bugged out at this message. He reread it a few times and then looked at his hand in amazement.

‘This is the power of an Angaellis?! What?!! I am so happy I picked this race. THANK YOU GOD! But isn’t this a little over powered.’

The foxes were sitting down in front of him, looking up at him. They cocked their heads to one side cutely, and together as if synchronized. Their green eyes stared up at him questioningly.

“Master? What just happened?”

Abrum looked around searching for the voice.

“Master? I’m right here.” Came a voice from the foxes.

“Yeah master, stop looking around like an idiot.”

That last comment hurt just a tad bit. Eh, you could call Abrum fragile.

“Is it you two that are calling me?”

“OBVIOUSLY! Baka……”

He looked at the foxes with a bit of disbelief. He wondered why the mob of hunters were chasing them. Usually, mobs like that only banded together to eliminate monsters with high infamy, and judging by the colors of their base auras, very bright white, it didn’t make sense.

“Why was such a huge mob chasing after you? Usually only monsters of high notoriety are hunted with that kind of fervor.”

At this point Aleqe had walked over and was observing the situation with mirth upon his face, though his face was completely absent of any signs of surprise. He was still wearing that stupid smile he always wore.

“Fancy you can talk to animals now boy? C’mon, there’s no time for that. We still have to get you trained.” He said as he began to walk away. Without a single care, he just walked away. No congratulations or anything of the sort

Abrum thought this was odd and began to follow, and so did the foxes. Abrum was surprised. He asked the foxes while walking

“Why are you guys following me? Not that it is unwelcome company, I’m just curious”

The foxes looked up at him with their cute lil green eyes, and one of them sighed and said,

“You saved us from those hunters, gave us a mark that will protect us, so I guess you could say we view you as our benefactor and master.”

“Don’t you guys have a family to return to? Some mother or father worried sick about you? What about a brother or sis—“

“Dead. All dead…”

He looked at the foxes with a sympathetic face and asked quietly

“Do you want to talk about it…?”

*Sigh*

"We had been running since morning. Me and my sister, running away from those humans. Despicable. They hunt us for our fox fur, for our eyes, for our claws, but worst of all, for slaves.

Those humans took our father and mother away from us.

We had been out the morning hunting for food. When we came back to the glade we called home to find the remains of our father. He was nothing more than a bloody mass, barely recognizable. He no longer had that soft pelt he was so proud of. That soft pelt that my sister and I used to lay our heads against as we slept. His eyes were also gone. Those beautiful deep green eyes that looked at us so gently. That reassured us that everything was alright.

All that was left was a bloody mass in the middle of our glade. His blood was spattered all around the glade. The crimson liquid that used to fill our father with such life was seeping back into the ground. The hunters were inexperienced, that much could be inferred from the carnage.

I looked, and turned to my sister. I looked into her eyes, seems something had broken inside of her as well. I then saw the fire in her eyes. The utter grief, pain… and then, something else. Anger. Pure, righteous fury. How dare they take away our beloved father who had cared for us even though, we were not in fact his biological children. HOW DARE THEY DO THIS?!

I saw the resolution in her eyes, and at that moment, we decided to take revenge for our dear father.

We found tracks leading away from the glade. Definitely inexperienced hunters. We followed the trail, it wasn’t hard. If we ever lost sight of the footprints, we could always pick up the smell of blood. Our father’s blood. The stench was clear. We trailed the humans to another glade, where they were proceeding to destroy another family of animals. I watched as a mother rabbit was cornered and slaughtered. That didn’t bother me. We hunted these types of beasts. What I couldn’t believe was the one that cornered the rabbit…. Was our mother. We looked in disbelief at our mother. How could she side with the humans that had slaughtered her husband, our father? She trotted over and sat down by a human with

silver armor with golden accents.

Then I noticed something that made my eyes widen in horror, and, hopelessness. Around my mother’s neck, was a silver collar with a blood red gem in the middle.

Then the worse realization of my life hit me when I saw, no smelled, the blood from our mother’s mouth, It was…. Our fathers…

It took me a second to process, and then I finally recognized what that collar was.

Subjugation magic…

They had taken my mother’s mind, played with it until she was just a broken doll. After all that, they used her to kill our father… Rage swelled up within me. How could they… I looked at my sister and we attacked together. White foxes are known for their magical capabilities. Needless to say, my sister and I are both adept in magic, particularly fire magic. We use our tails as other creatures use wands or other implements to channel magic. We are both adept at fire magic. We began to start our fire magic. Balls of flame began to form at the tips of our tails. As we looked at our mother, or the broken husk of our mother, we were determined to free her from her slavery. The rage at our father’s loss and the destruction of our mother’s mind fueled our fire balls. Once we were done, we hurled the fire balls towards the group of despicable humans.

The result was spectacular. The flaming balls of fire hurtled towards the group. When they made contact with one, they exploded outwards in a blossom of flame and blood. The flames caused the droplets of blood flying through the air to sparkle like a million crimson stars before they were evaporated. The carnage was beautiful. We saw our mother before she was blown to pieces. It almost seemed like she smiled before the fire ball hit her painting the surroundings red. The glade was on fire, the grass danced with flames, a picturesque scene of the flames of vengeance.

We bawled at that moment, but were satisfied. All that remained of that wretched hunting party was the ash and the smoke. OR so we thought. As the smoke cleared, we saw a big blue sphere, about 4 meters in diameter. Inside were the mob that was chasing us, and the man in silver and gold armor. His long blond hair was filled with soot, but he was otherwise unharmed. He turned look at us, in those eyes were pure malevolence. He dispelled the shield and ordered his underlings to go take care of us.”

As she was finishing her story, she looked back at Abrum, but jumped back as she saw what state he was in. His eyes…. Were clouded in grief. He was nearly tearing up at the story. The foxes looked at him incredulously until he said

“Make no mistake, at the very least, I will hunt down the man in the armor, and kill him.”

He bent down, and picked them up. He held them up and said,

“I will name you Bella, after the Latin word for war, and I shall name you Tella, after the Latin word for weapon. Together, we will bring the man responsible to justice.”

After saying so, he tenderly hugged the two little foxes with tears in his eyes, yet his eyes were full of resolve. The two little foxes were surprised and looked at each other, and smiled.

‘Master is a good person’

‘Maybe not all humans are bad’
