《Re:Asura》Chapter 10: Elemental Synergy

"Huff... huff.. huff.. Unbelievable!" Asura panted. In front of him, a portion of the once lush green forest had been totally decimated, and all that remained were molten stones and ashes. "This Burning Gale... is simply too powerful!" Asura looked at his burnt right hand.
An hour earlier....
"Sanzu, stop!" Asura patted Sanzu on his head. After flying in the skies towards the south for five days and nights, he had become exhausted and thirsty, and had been looking for a water source.
During the last two days, the pair had flown over a desert, thinking that it was only several kilometres long.
Asura had feared that he would die from thirst before reaching a water source, but was extremely relieved when they had finally reached to the end of the desert, and into a marshland.
"Pong!" Sanzu landed heavily onto a stone boulder. Asura quickly got off Sanzu's back and clambered towards the marsh, cupping up some water with his hands and slurped noisily.
"Ahh... So refreshing!" Asura's dried lips were starting to regain some moisture. He then sat down a stone boulder and decided to take a look at the scrolls. Other than the 'Mana Sense' scroll he picked up, he did not know what the contents of the other scrolls were. Taking out the six scrolls he had, he laid them on the boulder.
"Let's see...." Asura picked a scroll at random and quickly unrolled it. Written in it were big black fading ink words "Elemental Synergy". Asura continued reading. "Elemental Synergy is the technique of combining two or more elements, thereby creating a 'Fused Elemental Spell'!
The four elements are, Fire, Water, Earth and Wind.
Fire is strong against Wind, but weak against Water.
Water is strong against Fire, but weak against Earth.

Earth is strong against Water, but weak against Wind.
Wind is strong against Earth, but weak against Fire.
Even though these elements are vastly different from each other, it is possible to synergize them!
For example, a basic 'Fused Elemental Spell: Sandstorm' can be created by manipulating Earth elemental essences into Sand, and Wind elemental essences into a storm, and then combining them together!"
Asura was already thinking of what he could do, as he had not just two elements, but four! He continued reading.
"By converting Water elemental essences into water and Wind elemetal essences into strong winds, it is possible to freeze the water into the 5th element, Ice!" Asura couldn't stop reading for the next hour, before deciding to test it out.
"For starters, I'll use my two favourite elements, Fire and Wind. Convert fire elemental essences into flames while converting wind elemental essences into strong wind at the same time...." Asura mumbled, trying to use two different mana techniques at the same time.
"Arghh... This 'Elemental Synergy' spell sounds really powerful, but it is actually not easy! It's like trying to draw a star with one hand and a hexagon with the other!" After multiple failed attempts, Asura felt that he was getting closer to success.
The difficulty of trying to use two different mana techniques at the same time was getting less and less.
Finally... He could feel the elemental essences of two different mana techniques colliding with each other in his 'Origin of Life', ready to burst forth!
Raising his right palm forwards, he released the mana built up within his 'Origin of Life'....
"RROOOOOAAARRRR!!!" It was as if a mini tsunami of flames spewed out of his palm!
While Asura was engrossed with 'training', Sanzu had already perched himself on a nearby tree and went to sleep. Upon the unleashing of the 'Fused Elemental Spell', Sanzy who had just started to dream woke up with a start, cawing loudly from shock.

"CAWW! CAWW!"
"Crrisppp.... Crracckkleeee...." the trees and grasses affected by the flames were instantly burnt to a crisp, leaving only ashes in its wake.
Even the night skies were slightly lit up from the flaming torrent and the burning marsh.
"Dayum..." Asura's right palm had suffered third degree burns from using this powerful technique. "It's like a double edged sword." Asura realized. Converting mana into water elemental essences, he used a basic water technique 'Healing Water' on his burns.
While Asura was healing his burns, he had not noticed someone sneaking up onto him...
[Author's Note: I know some of you feel that my chapters are really short, but its for a reason! Why? Because...... ITS MY STORY MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Nah, just kidding. It's because when the sitation starts to change, I will promptly end the chapter and start on a new one. I think I have enough time to write another two chapters, look forward to them!]

Midthalion Saga
+++Working on new chapters. Share what I've posted with your friends and family! Be sure to build strong bonds with those who are important to you. We only have each other in this world for so long!+++ Can Roderick XXIII gather together and train a party of adventurers to clear out Madeon Caves and bring peace to the wildmarches of Midthalion? Sent from his home monastery in the west to the wildmarches of Midthalion, Roderick the Holy Avenger is devoted to living out his oath to bring the Holy Light to the dark corners of the world. He enlists the help of an old friend, Ulrich Vogelbrandt the dwarf druid, to train and prepare a fighting force capable of defending the west from the evil they both see gathering and growing in the east. Eoroth is an ode to Tolkienesque epic fantasy, Robert E Howard and H.P. Lovecraft's pulp fiction, and Gygaxian Dungeons & Dragons. I like to write about serious topics because I think it's fun. I hope it makes for a fun read. Place: Eoroth, a vast, flat world with many continents set in oceans that reach out and mingle with the Celestial Sea. Our story takes place on the continent of Thalion in the middle, unsettled region called Midthalion. Peoples: Races in Eoroth aren't different species; the species of man is just incredibly diverse, consisting of many known races (and perhaps some unknown). There are no humans in Thalion. Thalion's races include variations of elves, dwarves, halflings (billowits), pierros (clownish men), bergeracs (long-nosed and swarthy men of honour), orcs, trolls, goblins, and hobgobs. The Church: There's one dominant religion in Westhalion. The faith of the elves is an analogue to Roman Catholicism while the dwarves practice an Eastern Orthodox analogue. (Forgive me for not having figured out names yet.) The practitioners worship a triune god (the All-Father, Son-of-All, and Holy Light). There are many powers in heaven, all created by God. These include the Twelve High Thrones, individual, created beings who take on the role of guiding mankind in different aspects, drawing them closer and closer to God. (That should be the essentials. I could write pages on the theology. Comment where something's unclear in the story.) Natural World: There are plants and animals in Eoroth, but the world is also inhabited by spirits called aeons. Aeons are transformative beings; in the wild, they'll change based on whatever is happening nearby. Pollute a pond? Expect to see toxic toad-men running around. Leave a bunch of dead bodies strewn across a battlefield? Expect the place to become haunted with ghouls and ghasts. Druids are important for making sure that the aeons are pacified; that their needs are met so that they don't become rampaging monsters. Where the wilderness becomes overgrown, so too do the aeons. Aeons and People: Long ago, men learned how to trap aeons in stone tablets and use them for war. Now, anyone can capture an aeon into a special staff made by a druid. Men train, raise, and bond with these aeons. Druids often build entire ranches devoted to raising healthy aeons as allies and companions. Aeons are divided into twelve known families, and the church sees these as corresponding with the Twelve Thrones in Heaven. Direction: My goal is to get the story to one million words by June next year. I have tons of content in mind for the world. I want to release novels set in different ages of the world depicting different historical events. I hope to expand the setting into a tabletop role-playing game as well as a series of old-school JRPGs. But, it all begins with writing some stories and publishing my novels.

Fabrication
Welcome to the Winter Sector. This is your first time here, isn’t it? Waking up in the lands of snow with little to no thoughts of your past must be rough. Don’t worry, you aren’t alone. The vast plains of snow hold dominant around here, little to no bumps to be seen, no hills or craters. A white desert. Mountain ranges can be seen from afar. A forest somewhere down a cliff. Rare caverns here and there. Also, structures can be found abandoned. Going through these white lands is dangerous alone, perhaps get yourself a guide, or hold a map and a compass. But no matter how better you traverse, the abstracted distance would never change. If you had the unlucky start of waking up here, then let’s hope you find someone to give you clothes and shelter. The is beyond survivable. Unlike the other sectors, the Winter Sector doesn’t care to make things easy for newcomers. There are going to be tons of questions, most of which would be unanswered until you reach the end of the road. Unnatural things, abnormal dreams, anomalous scenes. This isn’t the world you were born in. Though it might look it, it won’t act like it.
