《The Software Detective》1.25 Get a lay of the land

"You know Tom, I was weary when Brett told me he would send someone else to complete the job." August said, leading me out of the building into the outside garden again. "But after I thought about everything that Brett has done for me over the years. I realized a recommendation from Brett is worth considering."
"Thank you. I appreciate it, Mr. Walters. Brett is the reason I became a software engineer and I still consider him a mentor."
August threw his arms outstretch from side to side and threw his head back. His spikey salt and pepper hair moved rapidly in the wind. "Perfect and acolyte of Brett. You have reassured my confidence. Come, let me give you a tour around the house and show. I'll point out the different places that you will need to check if the cameras are working correctly."
As we walked through the garden, August pointed out to various topiaries and trees that had cameras inside. He made a mention of how the cameras get a 360 view of the surroundings. They angled the cameras in a way that you can see inside the house. "Don't worry, you won't have to memorize any of this because Nelka asked Kuzma for placing every topiary on a map for the gardeners." August stopped in front of a topiary in the shape of a Chikwawa on its hind legs. Its front paws were on its hips, and it had a disappointed look on its face.
When stopped admiring the bizarre foliage, I noticed August had his hand on his face. That's when I noticed there were tears rolling down his face. I looked over at the butler with an eyebrow raised.
Bennet, clearly not amused with his boss's theatrics, mouthed the words "He said his wife's name."

Ah should have guessed. I walked over and put a hand on his shoulder. "Hey Mr. Walters, I heard about your wife and I'm sorry that she passed so soon. I went through something similar just recently." I said.
August wiped the tears from his eyes and blew his nose into a tissue. "Thank you and please just call me August. What did you go through, my brother?"
"I was on the run from the mafia and the Muffin-Man helped me get away. But he died."
Both the Bennet and August laughed hysterically. "I see even Brett's associates are comedians." Bennet said.
"Yes, we should all have a drink sometime." August said, now wiping a tear of joy from his eye. "Come, let's finish the tour."
We made our way through the rest of the garden we walked towards the house. "Ah, I forgot to mention that we have turned the cameras on for the last week or so. You can see the recordings in the security room. If you have any recommendations on their placement please let me know. I'll inform the staff to make the adjustments. A battery that is charged by a solar panel on top of the camera powers them." August clapped his hands. "Bennet, can you have the chief prepare an extra plate for lunch? By the time I finish the tour, it will be lunchtime."
"Yes, Master Walters." Bennet said
"Okay Tom, you are with me. I'll show you the rest of the house." August said, guiding us to a back door of the house.
