《The Software Detective》1.18 I should probably do something about this

Great, do I stay and take my chances with getting murdered at this hotel of doom or do I venture out quickly, try to find a hotel with vacancy and eat the cost of the hotel? Thunder clapped, causing the lights to flicker. I am walking over to the window and opening the blinds. The storm was raging, as if the fate of the universe was being decided. Trees were being tossed back and forth in the wind as if they were tether ball being passed side to side. There was so much rain that the storm drains overflowed and flooded into the streets, causing some cars with poor traction to skid and nearly hit the ones In front of them. I peered over to the interstate and saw that things were not much better. The cars were lined bumper to bumper, moving at a snail's pace. In a series of unfortunate events, I have found myself between a rock and a hard place.

Well, first let me see what my options are for staying. Rolling my suitcase to the desk laid it on its back, opening it to grab my laptop. Opening turning the laptop on my desk, I opened a few webpages. They quickly opened and were very responsive when clicking a bunch of links. Okay fast internet, so I will work in the morning.

I walked over to the bathroom. It was very nice and spacious, with a waterfall shower. There was a large mirror, and the sink water was very responsive, turning hot quickly and then back to cold when I switched the nozzle. But I needed to know one more thing, the toilet pressure. Okay, the bathroom is really nice.

Everything was falling into place. It almost seemed as if I found a gem in a puddle of blood. The Mini fridge was packed with many mini bottles of alcohol, drinks and even some ice cream. Plus, if I took anything, there would be no extra cost. What a steal. Cracking open a coke, I took a large sip. I guess spending the night here wouldn't be the worst option, but there is one last thing I need to check before I give my final verdict. Staring to disrobe. I untuck the covers and slide inside like I was hand fitting snug into a glove. The receptionist wasn't kidding. I'd be fine dying in this cloud.

After watching a movie, I was ready to get some sleep. With the storm raging outside, it was soothing to her, the thunder cackling, the rain patting across the window, the blood-curdling screams... wait.... oh, it's probably nothing.

Turning over, I laid on my side. I closed my eyes again and listened to the sound of the hotel. It was mostly quiet throughout the hotel. There were no footsteps outside my room. The elevator wasn't moving. "Help! He's stabbing me to death!" someone screamed throughout the hallways. Oh man, they must have some weird thunder in this part of the city.

Turning over to the other side of the pillow, I tried to focus on sleeping again. Just focus on happy thoughts. Cinnamon buns, hippos that don't have clowns inside of them, a nice normal life. "Oh, my god! He's taking my liver!" She screamed again. He's doing what!? Okay, I am not leaving this bed, no matter what. I prefer to keep my liver.

"Dear god he stepped on my cinnamon buns! They were fresh!" she screamed again. That bastard is gonna die! Leaping out of the bed, I grabbed my room key and bolted out of the door.
