《Legendary Elemental Knight》Chapter 25: Dragon Trait

With a loud crack, my Dantian collapsed from the charge of that Energy Dragon. But contrary to my fears, only a small part of the Dantian was damaged. The remaining Dantian is not influenced by that damage in the slightest.
I calmed down my pounding heart, and observed the Dragon carefully. The liquid Energy Dragon immediately rushed towards that crack and started integrating into that crack like glue. Along with that new information appeared in my memory.
It felt like it was related to whatever the hell is going on in my Dantian, so I hurriedly retrieved that information from my memory and inspected it. As expected, it was one of the major changes a descendant has to undergo due to the Blood Legacy Awakening.
It cannot be considered an Inheritance, but it can be called a Race Trait. This Trait is activated randomly based on the Inheritances that descendant receives. Majority of the Traits will be physical manifestations in one or the other part of the body. Many Traits like horns, fangs, claws or even scales all over the body will appear, depending on the Race as well as Inheritances.
According to the information, what is being activated in my body is called ‘Dragon Dantian’. The Dragons are existences that first cultivated Spirit Energy, different from the Fiend Gods that cultivated Body Refining Techniques. Naturally, the Dantian will be more active as well as vast in a dragon when compared to the Fiend Gods.
But a Human body cannot directly possess the Dragon Dantian. So a Special Mark will be branded into the present Dantian that can act as a storage house for the Energy. The mark’s capacity will be thrice the original capacity of the Dantian. As the cultivator progresses in the cultivation Realms, during the break through, the Mark will also increase in its capacity.
I was more than happy to receive this Trait. First of all, this is an Inner Body Trait, so there will be no major changes to my appearance. Second, the extra energy will give me a huge edge over any cultivator of the same Realm. HAHAHAHAHA…
But as they say, nothing comes free; there is a drawback to these advantages provided by the Race Trait. It may be true that I can store three times the energy any normal cultivator can possess, but, at the same time, to advance a level, I have to cultivate three times more energy than a normal cultivator.

As to why, there is no explanation in my memory. After thinking about it for a while, I can only speculate that only when the storage space of the Mark is filled to the brim, can the free Energy in my Dantian be used for the breakthrough. Otherwise the shortage of Energy will make me unable to achieve the break through.
As I watched, the Liquid Energy Dragon slowly integrated into my Dantian. It finally changed its appearance from a life like 3D Dragon to a tattoo looking Mark on the wall of the Dantian. As it branded into the Dantian, the usage process of the Mark appeared in my memory. It’s pretty simple actually. Whenever I cultivate Spirit Energy, I can allocate any amount of Energy within my Dantian to be absorbed by the Mark. I can freely access that energy as well with a thought.
With this, it seems that my Awakening of the Blood Legacy is finally over. I gained a Body Cultivation Technique of Fiend Gods. From my Dragon Family, I gained the Energy Veins of Dragons as well as Dragon Dantian. It can be said that my entire Spirit Energy Network has been changed into that of the Dragon Race.
I slowly opened my eyes after a long time. My body creaked as I tried to move. *pop* *pop* *pop* sounds came from my joints as I stood up on my wobbly legs. That feeling instantly vanished and a comfortable energy spread through my body. Even though there are no external changes except for longer hair, I could feel the power brimming in my body.
I laughed loudly feeling the power coursing through my body. By my estimation based on the time I progressed in cultivation, with only my physical capabilities, I can be on par with the cultivators of First Level Spirit Sense Realm.
I could feel my senses being keener than before. I could see the droplets of the greenish blue water in the cavern, my hearing got sensitive enough to hear the faint buzzing of insects in the cavern, my sense of smell, touch and even taste. If a normal human had such a huge input from these kinds of sensitive senses, their brain will definitely overload from all that white noise. But it felt that my brain can process all this flood of senses pretty easily. I think this is the result of the ‘Dragon Sense’ I inherited.

I have to consolidate all these new experiences with LILY so as to get a clear picture of my current condition. Then I heard a small voice calling my name from my left. As I turned my head, I felt a brush of air, before I was locked into two powerful arms tightly hugging me. Even with my heightened senses, I couldn’t follow the movement of that figure.
“Ah, Azalon. You woke up.”
“Hahaha, Dad.”
After all that intense strain on my brain from the experiences from the Awakening this loving gesture from my father released the tension. I could feel my mind clearing and my tense body loosening up.
My father lowered his head and passed his gaze all over my body with a scrutinizing look. Surprise flashed across his eyes, as I could see that he sensed the loss of my cultivation.
“So, have you succeeded? But why are there no signatures of energy in your body? You should be at Spirit Sense 3rd level. What happened?”
Facing that barrage of questions, I could only helplessly sigh thinking back to that time when that Dragon Seed sucked my Dantian dry. But as I opened my mouth to tell what happened, the muscles in my throat tightly constricted.
No matter how much I tried, I couldn’t even bring out a single sound from my mouth. As I tried harder, I saw a flash of red before my eyes and a figure with a spear on his back appeared. As that figure appeared, an irrational fear spread through my body. He suddenly moved and slashed fiercely with that spear on his back. I only saw a flash of silver and instantly my mind went black.
I woke up with a thumping headache. It felt like my head is going to split, which made me groan. I turned my head to look around me only to see that I am still in the huge cavern. The cold from the floor made me slightly clear headed, but the thumping still made my head hurt.
I looked around to see my father laying against a rock, snoring lightly, a small line of drool hanging from the corner of his mouth. I chuckled involuntarily looking at that. That roused my father from his sleep, which made me amazed at the sensitiveness he maintained even in deep sleep. He looked around alertly but then immediately relaxed when he saw me. He hurriedly came to my side, and another barrage of questions assaulted me.
I lifted my hand to stop his continuous inquiries and slowly sat up. I massaged my temples to relieve some pain, before turning to see my father’s concerned face. I lightly smiled and said in a low voice.
“Dad, I can’t talk to you about the Awakening. I seems like trying to talk about it will trigger a backlash in my body.” I smiled at him and jokingly said. “It feels like someone has been dancing on my head”, as I lightly massage my temples again.
My father sat down with a pondering expression on his face. After some time he lightly smiled and said, “It seems like your Inheritances are not normal. I remember my father once told me when he was talking about our Lineage that some of the Blood Legacies upon Awakening will grant some powerful or surreptitious Inheritances. So there will be some restrictions placed on such Legacies, so that their secrets or origins cannot be spoken freely.”
His eyes suddenly blazed with pride and happiness, so much so that I felt as if he was the one who awoke them, and not me.
“HAHAHAHA, as your mother said, The Spirits did indeed bless my family, HAHAHAHA…”
I watched with a dumb look at my father who was roaring loudly with a mad laugh mixed in, before joining him with a laugh on my face.

8 90The London Phantom: A Superhero Webnovel
London is an old city. It has survived floods, fires, plagues and the man-made smog of industry. It has stood firm against the armies of Vikings, Saxons, Normans and the aerial might of the Luftwaffe. It has borne witness to dynsatic feuds, civil wars, military occupation and the sin of regicide. Through all these disasters the city has survived not through force of arms, though its walls were once the envy of the world, but through adapting to the times. Enemies become dependant on the city, and the wealth of the world that flows through it, and so become new allies. If the rulers change, then the city welcomes them with open arms, and open lines of credit. In this way the city seeks to preserve its ancient rights and position of power. Superheroes are a new phenomenon. The first superpowered man walked out of the Nevada desert in 1950, and the world was forever changed. Across the planet, men and women with exceptional abilities made themselves known. At first, they were little more than another source of fear in the era of Mutually Assured Destruction, but over time attitudes changed and the concept of the Superhero was created in the city of Los Angeles. From there the phenomenon spread across the globe; superheroes went from being feared arms of the state to a symbol of hope in these maddening times. Times have changed. Sixty years from the emergence of the first superhero, the City of London stands on a precipice. Two years have passed since the madman Fawkes nearly brought down the United Kingdom and the remnants of the Bow Street Runners, London's premier superhero team, are struggling to keep order in a city that seems on the brink of collapse. London stands on a knife's edge, with criminal organisations that once stuck to the shadows becoming more bold, and ancient powers from myth and legend making themselves known. Alexander Laszewski has recently 'awakened' and has become entirely unremakable, effectively making himself invisible to the world. He must use his newfound power to navigate a city on the edge of collapse. If only he could figure out how to turn it off.
