《Legendary Elemental Knight》Chapter 22: Spilled Blood

After that hate and rage filled proclamation, that man’s body flashed and disappeared. I stared slack-jawed at that. That is TELEPORTATION… and it has been done without any advanced equipment. I remembered that the knowledge of many advanced skills like teleportation has been lost in the Dark Age.
Can I build something like teleporting devices in this world? What about some other advanced stuff from Earth? The information on this world is still too low. All I know is from the books I have read from the library. I have to explore this world…
As my thoughts went off on a tangent, the scene in front of me changed. My sight changed from up-close to a bird’s eye view. Down below, a kingdom lay in ruins, with fires raging the city and cries and helpless sobs resounding all around. Bodies lay around all over, seemingly filling the entire area with scattered parts and splashed blood.
The mysterious man I have seen before, is leading a small regiment of around 200 warriors of both genders behind him, was looking coldly at the ravaged city. He lifted his head to the skies and let out a roar filled with vengeance and grief. The warriors behind him all let out their voices in support to their leader. The combined might of their voices filled the air, shaking the earth and the hearts of the few lucky or unlucky survivors.
The mysterious man's silhouette flashed once again as he disappeared. Along with that, the scene changed before my eyes too. The same situation repeated number of times, countless cities and tens of kingdoms were razed and destroyed. Not even a blade of grass was left untouched wherever that man and his group of warriors set their sights on.
Finally after a long streak of rampage, that mysterious man and his group met with a resistance. A vast army numbered according to my estimation around 5-6 million, comprising of mostly humans as well as small groups of various mythical races, surrounded them from all sides. From my view all the way up here, I could not clearly identify each of them but I could somewhat tell from their faint silhouettes. It felt as if a huge colony of ants were surrounding a strong snake.

The mysterious man fearlessly roared and jumped head first into the huge army. The group followed him with their own challenging roars. Even thought the strength of the mysterious man and his group was strong individually, but when faced with the seemingly never ending umbers they are facing, the battle ended as predicted. Suffering huge losses of almost half of their numbers, the army defeated the mysterious man and his group.
The mysterious man was the last to fall, his body riddled with huge gashes from sword strikes, pierced by countless spears, even charred and damaged by various elemental arts from the cultivators. But even with all that, he rampaged across the army increasing the ferociousness with each of his comrade who fell before him.
Even though I have seen wars on Earth, the war I am seeing right now can no way be compared to them. Wars on earth are more about territory, strategy, tactics, even considering about the political influence at that. But the one in front of me is just… power… unyielding raw power… terrifying and awe inspiring power… the vocabulary I have is not enough to describe the feelings I am feeling whenever I saw that man fighting with all he had till his last breath.
With the death of that man, the scenes flashed past before my eyes like a fast forwarding movie, depicting the aftermath of that army. The re-establishment of kingdoms, the rise of prominence of the Church, the hunt for remaining Dragons and Draconians…
As they ended, I was once again seated on the cliff edge where it all started. The flood of information and the feelings those fights and wars I have seen, left me with an uncertainty within me. The questions that raised because of that uncertainty, and I know that the way I answer those questions will decide my path in this world.

After a long time, I have decided on my course of life. I was simply attached to my life on Earth. My research, my achievements, my accomplishments, my painful moments, lonely moments, love, depressions, and all the life I once lived as a carefree scientist standing on top of a part of the society, is gone.
I have a new life now. A loving mother, a cunning but good father, LILY… these are the ones that are closer to me than anyone in my previous life… these are the ones that will love me and standby me… moreover this place will be like an uncharted territory, which will surely provide me with new challenges and obstacles. The knowledge I gained from a life-time of research will gain a new face in this world and this life.
I will live a life where I can protect those close to me. I will live a life where I can be carefree. I will live a life where I can proudly roam all over the world without anyone obstructing my path.
And I know the only way I can achieve is with enough strength. Only those with strength can stand at the peak and rule over the world. Only then can one live with freedom and free will. The strong will rule and the weak will have no choice but be trampled below the feet of the strong.
I also know that one day I will have to kill. I will have to kill not only beasts but also fellow humans. But I will kill only on one condition. The condition will be the same of the mysterious man I have seen before.
If someone endangers something or someone I hold dear, then they will die. If one doesn’t ruffle my feathers, they will be ignored. But if they point their blade in my direction, their heads will have to roll.
Once I decided, it felt as if a huge burden has been lifted from my heart. I felt refreshed and a warm feeling swept through my entire being, as if invigorating me. The words I spoke were branded in to my soul itself, and I felt as if some shackles binding me were released. The feeling felt akin to floating in a free space.
All of a sudden, I was pulled down into my body leaving that Dream World. I slowly opened my eyes. A myriad of colors burst into my eyes searing them. Gradually, a familiar scene appeared.
The huge cavern the splashing lake and a man with a concerned face looking at me. Before I could open my mouth, another familiar voice sounded in my mind.
“[MASTER...]”
“[LILY, why are you shouting like that? It has been mostly a few hours. It’s not like you miss me or something, right?]”
“[A few hours? It has been 23 days, since I lost connection with you. TWENTY THREE DAYS… Wuuu…]”
“………”

Paladin
When the first derelict alien spacecraft fell to Earth, humanity took what was found in it and propelled themselves to new heights. In their new Golden Age, humanity developed technology that they had only dreamed about. The following years saw hundreds more ships crash into the planet, spurring even greater technological leaps. An unassuming spacecraft, one of the dozens that fell yearly, descended on Siberia in 2021. The world took no particular notice of it. However, this one contained something beyond the miraculous technology that had made humans so prosperous. Three years later, in a top-secret underground facility in eastern Colorado, the automated construction of an army of Paladin Mobile Infantry Suits was underway. With this new, state-of-the-art weaponry, the military would turn the tide against the alien incursion that was consuming the planet. Humanity fell before that could happen. Sam was an engineer responsible for overseeing the facility. Now alone, he lives in utter boredom and near insanity, his only company the base’s pseudo AI and an army of empty Paladins. With the world gone to hell around him, and the things that caused it still living above, he decides that he is much better off staying exactly where he is. Unfortunately for him, that is no longer an option. This is the first novel I've written. The first fifteen or so chapters are going to be a little slower. I want there to be time to get to know the characters before they start blowing stuff up. Also, though the MC will be strong relative to the world, he won't be OP, and won't win every fight. Not every fight will be physical either. Currently, I'm aiming for something like 5 fairly short chapters a week, after the introduction part is done, but we'll see how that goes. Thanks for reading, and please let me know if I've made mistakes!

Prime Magus of Earth
"In the beginning, I had no idea what was going on. My brother and friends were gone, my sight was gone, and yet I still saw things, things about this world that no one else knew. I'm not special, or gifted, anyone could have done what I did. I just got lucky, especially after everything that happened afterwards. Magic already existed, it always had. Humans just didn't know how to do it, didn't know how to nuture that small spark in them. Now you do." - Prime Magus of Earth, Alexander Sorin. November 2021 Update: So, it has been four years since I stopped working on this. Reading back, the first "book" is finished. It has what feels like an ending to an arc. Now it isn't a perfect story but I still like it and I can see myself starting the second book, might even this on Amazon or something. My biggest regret was never coming up with artwork for the cover though. Maybe I'll look into it.
