《Winter Sovereign》Chapter 77: Poison

Lilia's team faced off against the enemy team.
It was the morning of a new day.
The strange thing about this team was that their figures were the same. If anything to differentiate them, it would be their voices and their height.
Their weapons were also the same.
Two daggers.
As per their agreement, Seileen went out first.
One of their opponents came forward to face her.
Since they knew their plan, Seileen decided to end this battle swiftly to conserve her strength.
Knowing this, the opponent calmly fought defensively.
Seileen had great difficulty.
The opponent's speed and skill is quite considerable.
After some time, Seileen decided to go all out.
The clash of blades intensified.
Seileen took some small cuts while the enemy also bled.
Aies looked on at the battle curiously.
"Hey, Seileen is disadvantaged if you think about it."
She said.
The rest nodded.
"In terms of weapons, Seileen's spear is at an advantage due to it's long range but once he gets close that advantage becomes a disadvantage."
Luisa nodded.
Seileen was indeed disadvantaged but she was by no means lacking and used her fists and legs to deal attacks forcing the enemy to back down.
But not before dealing a blow or two.
This stalemate continued on until the opponent made an error.
In a critical moment, Seileen discovered a chance and dealt a critical blow.
However, that was the enemies plan.
The moment he was dealt that blow, he rushed forward and heavily injured Seileen.
Gazing at him in shock, she turned furious and unleashed a strong skill that heavily injured him the same way.
Severely injured, he collapsed on the ground.
"Seileen!"
Her team called out.
"Neil!"
Their opponents called out ins shock.
Though they planned to deal a heavy blow and attain victory, they didn't expect her to retaliate viciously.
Seileen used her spear to continue standing.
The referee immediately rushed forward to treat him.
"Winner, Team Sky Blossom Sect!"
He called out.
Both teams rushed to their companions and carried them back.
However, they glared at each other's team viciously as well.
After this event, the two teams fought intensely.
Aies went next and ruthlessly injured the next foe.
Serra came forward next and fought the enemy to a draw.
Luisa faced off against their strongest combatant and loss.
She was also severely injured.

Lilia fought next and in a vicious move, she severely injured her foe.
Her team was announced the victor and they rushed their injured comrades towards the base.
"What a blunder... To think that I was prepared for any underhanded attacks but was still severely injured."
Luisa called out.
Her opponent, Grey was very strong.
She ultimately lost because she tried to conserve her strength.
"Don't feel too bad about it. Didn't you also severely injure him as well?"
Seileen called out.
"True... But to think he'd be able to stand up and still claim victory... How tenacious..."
The mood in their team was bad.
"Urk... This is bad."
Lilia called out gravely.
Another challenge letter came out next.
They might've won the first but they would have difficulty fighting the second match.
Despite their victory, they felt no joy.
Only anxiety.
"When will we fight?"
Serra asked.
"Since it's already past the time to fight, tomorrow morning."
Lilia spoke gravely.
"Here. Let me help."
Serra came forward to treat them.
"I'll treat their injuries. For now, let me try my utmost."
He spoke to reassure his companions.
"Take these potions for now."
He passed them some bottles filled with blue liquid.
"What's this?"
Aies asked.
"This will help heal your injuries and replenish your stamina."
He said.
"I see… Serra, we'll leave Seileen and Luisa to you. Ask us for anything you might need later on. Let's go everyone."
Still worried, the rest returned to their rooms reluctantly while Serra treated both Luisa and Seileen.
As they left, Serra looked at Luisa and Seileen and said seriously.
"I'll do my best to treat you."
Hearing this, the two felt relieved.
They did get injured a few times before and Serra treated them all.
However, the injuries were merely small scratches or minor burns and the like.
This is the first time they suffered a heavy injury.
As the saying goes, if you can't do the minor matters, they can't entrust you with important or major matters.
Since Serra healed the minor injuries right, they can trust him with this task.
That said, they lack the time to find another expert doctor at this time.
They merely have a day left.
Thus, the task falls into his hands.
"For now... I'll have to check your injuries."

Serra said.
He first took a look at Luisa's injuries.
"Hm... The injuries can be treated easily but the poison is the problem."
Serra observed her injuries.
Luisa is a more important fighter than Seileen.
Thus, Serra prioritized Luisa first.
The injuries Luisa suffered were a bit deep.
Fortunately, healing them wouldn't pose a problem.
There are herbs and potions that could heal them within an hour.
However, the poison is quite potent.
"Next, Seileen."
He headed towards her.
"Hm... This is a bit more troubling."
Seileen suffered minor cuts against her foe earlier.
Each blow had poison.
Because of the nature of shallow cuts, the poison spread at a wide area through multiple parts of the body.
"Luisa suffered a severe single blow. The poison is located within that area. But for Seileen, the poison has spread through a wide area through those cuts..."
Serra frowned.
"The poison isn't fatal. But, it's a long-term poison that weakens, paralyzes and confuses the mind. It's known as the Cataract Poison."
Serra noted.
Luisa and Seileen heard.
"Cataract Poison?"
Luisa asked.
She wasn't familiar with poisons. Though she did knew common ones, some specialized poisons that were quite deep weren't in her knowledge.
"The elders must've checked their weapons. If the poison was fatal or something that could cripple one's cultivation, they would be disqualified immediately. Thus, they used a mild poison. This poison is quite irritating mainly due the fact that the ingredients required to cure it poses some difficulty for us... Still, there's not much of an issue with the poison itself. Even without a cure, it'll fade away by itself with time. Merely, it only fades within 3 days..."
Serra spoke.
"By that time, we would be down to 16th place or even lower..."
Luisa said gravely.
"I'll speak with the others, you two should rest."
Serra said.
The two agreed then Serra went off to speak to the rest.
..............................
The remaining members in good condition were gathered here.
Serra, Lilia and Aies.
"3 days... Can't we find a cure quickly?"
Lilia asked.
"It's not that simple. This Cataract Poison is very troublesome and requires some rare ingredients to treat it. These ingredients are quite rare and since it fades away within 3 days, most people would just bear it and let it fade away within that time."
Serra answered.
"Then, let's gather the ingredients!"
Aies spoke swiftly.
"She's right. Since that's the only way to treat it, let's do so. Tell us the ingredients."
Lilia quickly came to a decision.
"Fine. The ingredients are..."
Serra listed the ingredients clearly.
The faces of the two paled.
"What...? Such a mild poison requires such rare materials just to cure? How could there be such an irritating poison in this world?"
Lilia said with fury.
"The only reason a cure was found was because a certain stubborn doctor was determined to find a cure for it and spent a vast amount of time using up any and all materials just to develop a cure for it. That person also had a great and powerful cultivation and had many resources at his home. He persisted in it wasting great amounts of resources just to cure it. The expenses... were so great that once the cure was found, everyone decided to never even once consider it."
Serra said with a sigh.
"We have no choice... Let's try finding them right away."
The rest nodded and went out.
Thus, the three separated and each went to look for the ingredients.
Serra decided to head to the main street.
"There might be a chance there's a few I could get there. So, I can't dismiss that chance. I'll also gather the common ingredients for it there. You two should focus on the other ingredients. Once I buy the ones easily found, I'll start searching for the rest."
Was what Serra said to them.
They agreed quickly and departed to their destinations at once.
Within an hour, Serra managed to buy the common ingredients and crossed out few from the rare ingredients at a rather expensive price.
"I couldn't find anything else there... Did the other two have better luck?"
Serra thought to himself.
He could use his abilities and traverse the entire world within a moment but that wouldn't be fair.
It would be a simple matter to freeze time in this world and take his time gathering the ingredients for it or use his powers directly and cure it but that would be overstepping his bounds again.
"For now, I should speak to them."
Serra decided.
And so, he headed off towards them.

Summoner's Journey
[Before you read - the story is officially dead. The reasons behind it are posted in the last chapter.] In a magic world on the verge of an industrial revolution, Ari Ragnarsson must uncover the truth behind his parents' disappearance. They were part of an organization known as the Order, which protects mankind from various threats - both human and supernatural. Now, after Ari's brands finally manifest, he leaves the safety of his village and travels to the continent. Strength is all that matters in this world and he must learn how to control his powers. There, he meets a man from another world, who's being hunted for merely existing. Their fates become intertwined, but not in a way either of them would appreciate. Author's note (contains minor non-story related spoilers about the MC and setting) This is a progression fantasy with LITRPG elements sprinkled on top. The main character is not a spellsword, but a summoner/support mage hybrid. Since he wasn't ambushed by a random god, there's no cheat item/spell and he has to rely on his skills and wits to survive in a world full of monsters. The story tries to show the moment when the old starts to be replaced by the new, with a healthy dose of magic and a little steampunk in the background. Also, it revolves around a party dynamic akin to RPG sessions. No health/mana bars. Numbers are secondary and the LITRPG elements focus more on classes/spells/runes and their evolutions. Tables are sparse at the beginning, but from chapter 7 onwards they appear more often. Still, I won't be copy-pasting the whole character sheet dozens of times per chapter.

Re:Mento Mori
When Ryuji, a disgruntled salaryman, is supposed to reach an unfortunate end, he is instead thrust into a new world, inhabiting a body that isn't his own. Forced into a world filled with strife and death, can he claim freedom and happiness? Or will his turbulent new life only lead to suffering and pain? As with every time-loop story written by an amateur author, this is heavily inspired by Re:Zero. If I had to explain my book, I would say imagine Re:Zero, but the main character can actually fight people instead of just getting merked every time he meets someone with a weapon. The themes of this story are dark, so be forewarned. This is my first story so keep that in mind while reading it.
