《Winter Sovereign》Chapter 68: Tournament Start

Serra listened intently.
How amusing... So, he thought that far? If so, he must've anticipated the time when he would have to leave or that something would happen to him. He knows it himself that he only rose through the conflict and became such an overlord of his generation because of the chaos and war.
He thought to himself.
Conflict may give birth to tragedy, deaths and despair, but also gives birth to hope.
Along with the rise of new heroes.
Only heroes who faced adversity could hope to rise to greatness.
After all, a smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.
Isn't that so for me?
"Well then, let's end it here and rest. We should make preparations for the tournament."
Lilia said then left through the door.
"Hm. This tournament... I hope it's interesting."
After that, days passed.
Lilia and the rest gathered information and prepared for the tournament.
Serra prepared potions and various medicinal pills for the team.
Of course, he stayed within the limits he set on himself.
It wouldn't do at all to go beyond them.
That would break the balance of the game.
Finally, the day of the tournament would start would officially begin.
An announcement was released throughout the city.
"All participants of the tournament are to head to the tournament grounds before noon immediately! Any team not present before the start will be removed from the tournament!"
The various teams were alerted.
At once, they stopped whatever they were doing and headed to the tournament grounds.
They gathered together and moved.
There were a myriad of expressions gathered on their faces.
Some were worried.
Some were excited.
While others showed confidents expressions as they moved along.
Regardless, none of them held fear whatsoever.
They all had confidence in themselves and aimed for glory.

"Lilia!"
Luisa also heard the announcement and immediately went to find the rest.
She immediately went to the inn.
"Luisa! You heard the announcement?"
Lilia said.
Luisa nodded.
"Where are the rest?"
She asked.
"They're should be gathering here."
Footsteps were heard.
Serra and Aies came down.
"It's finally time!"
Aies excitedly claimed.
"So it is."
Serra nodded.
"Let's go then."
"Wait. Seileen isn't here yet."
Lilia stopped them.
"What? Where is she?"
"She should still be at the shops looking at weapons."
Aies spoke impatiently while Serra remembered where she went.
"There's no way she didn't hear the announcement. Let's wait a bit."
Lilia dissuaded them.
Aies pouted but calmed down.
Serra merely nodded in understanding.
In that moment...
"I'm here!"
Seileen came bursting in.
She was sweating.
She must've rushed here immediately.
"I came here immediately after I heard!"
"Since we're all here. Let's go."
Lilia spoke.
With a nod, everyone left.
At the tournament grounds.
It was a grand sight.
There were thousands of people.
It was literally a sea of people.
Furthermore, all of them were cultivators!
There plenty of grand characters who ruled as overlords of their regions.
Powerful cultivators rarely seen were as plentiful as grass here.
They were all respectfully sitting in their respective seats.
Waiting patiently for the tournament.
Down below, there were a few thousand youths participating in the tournament.
They were wearing proud and excited expressions.
None were arrogant.
All present understood that everyone present here were their peers and were by no means easy foes.
They couldn't allow themselves to be the slightest bit arrogant.

It was truly a harsh world. And in this world I've promised myself to do everything but ordinary. I shall do the extraordinary, I shall resolve me heart and dare to do the impossible. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Author's note: Writing a story is like giving birth to a child. Even though it was your work that brought the child to this world but you will never know the end of that child. Even if you're the one who teaches him, molds him and make his personality but that child will still learn some things on his own. That child will still form his own personality and thoughts. Similarly, I might right this story but eventually the story will move on its own and I would merely write it down. The rules that would be created of this world I shall create will be of its own which myself as a write, I cannot change. I hope you stay with us till the end of this journey.

Molting the Mortal Coil
Reincarnated as a child in a new world a mild mannered programmer, named Sage, finds himself struggling to survive. The road to immortality is paved with danger, treasure, and conflict. This mystical eastern world is filled with Demonic Beasts, Treacherous Cultivators, and Extraordinary Legacies. Follow Sage on his journey to adapt to this new world, and find out if he can overcome the limitations of body, mind, and soul. Will he rise to the occasion and become a hero? Or maybe he'll turn to the dark side and end up a villain? Molting the Mortal Coil is more of a slower paced journey. It's not about endless battles and conquering the next bad guy who spits on the main characters shoes or sends him a funny look. There's also not a treadmill of tournaments or love interests. It's more of a slower burn with lots of, and hopefully not too much, world building. It's still supposed to be stuffed with action, but that won't pick up for a while since we start with a weakling. The first 30 chapters have a lot of time-skipping, but stay with me it gets better. I plan to re-write and add more to the first 30 in the future, but if you can push through I feel it gets much more fun after! Updates will be weekly.
