《Winter Sovereign》Chapter 17: Panic and anxiety
Advertisement
While Serra slept, panic and chaos spread amongst the humans and demonic beasts.
It was much calmer on the demonic beasts' side however.
The Demon King was aware of Serra's existance and gave the order for all of them to calm down as this was merely the power of someone the Demon King knows and therefore is not a threat towards them.
This calmed down the demonic beasts but they were wondering in their hearts who this person the Demon King knows but they were much more relieved to know that it was not their enemy whoever this being is.
On the human's side on the other hand, they were full of fear and panic towards this unknown being that unveiled that tremendous amount of power and raised a new continent.
Upon the rise of the new continent, various experts from both sides flew towards the source and were dumbfounded upon the sight of a new continent.
With some research, they immediately identified the continent as the Meis continent.
However, they knew that the continent was buried beneath the seas for countless years.
Why would it rise now of all times?
Furthermore, the entire continent was barren with only lakes and mountains but no patch of grass anywhere.
The various major powers investigated the continent and found a city from the ancient era.
However, it was perfectly intact.
The various experts guessed that the supreme expert responsible for raising the continent was there and they hesitated on what to do.
If they press forward, they might offend that expert and it may lead to the extermination of their clans and sects.
So they retreated and reported it to their superiors.
The various major powers were discussing this and linked it to the withdrawal of the demonic beasts.
They were in panic over this unknown being who might be their foe.

Immediately, a few major powers held a discussion in a private location.
Within a secluded mansion, there were several figures.
They each exuded a powerful aura and were in a circle discussing important matters.
There was a fiery man with a red robe, three figures wearing golden robes and various other experts.
"I believe that the rise of the new continent is linked to the withdrawal of the demonic beasts and it may be our enemy."
One of them spoke out.
"What you say is indeed possible, however, that would spell disaster for our side. What do our scouts say at present?"
Another spoke.
"According to our scouts, they don't dare enter the city and they feel no aura whatsoever, however, they still feel the remnants of power lingering in the region."
This made the faces of everyone present quite grave.
"Hopefully, the being responsible for this is not our enemy but if it is... I'm afraid we have little choice but to bend our heads."
A grave voice sounded.
"What nonsense! As if we, who lead humanity to prosperity, would bow our heads!"
The fiery man spoke in an enraged voice.
"Calm down. It is indeed infuriating for us to bow our heads, but we must do so for the survival of our race."
The one in the middle of the trio of men in golden robes spoke.
"Elder brother is correct."
"We should bow our heads now, then retaliate later."
The other two men approved.
"Tch! If I have to bow my head to some shitty beasts, then I'd rather fight to the death then die."
The red man spoke again.
His voice sounded final.
"I won't stop you if that's the case, but we aren't certain yet. We should sent out an envoy to invite the expert present there and discuss what our final decision should be."

The man in golden robes spoke again.
"He's correct. However, we can't represent all the major powers in this venture, so I suggest we contact them and host an Alliance Conference."
"Indeed! We need to stand united to determine a proper approach."
"So it shall be."
The red man looked irritated but consented in the end.
"If that's all, I'm going now."
He left in a bad mood.
"Hmph, that man still haven't calmed down his temper."
"Enough is enough, let's leave already and prepare for the Alliance Conference."
"He's right. Let's go."
One by one, they left filled with fear and unease in their hearts.
They each began to prepare for the alliance conference to address the issue of the withdrawal of the demonic beast, the rise of the new continent and the person who may be responsible for all of this who may be resting in the ancient city.
They also arranged the conference to be within three days and sent letters to all the major powers.
The Alliance Conference... shall be held in the Recquir Empire.

Homeland
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER -- In Cory Doctorow’s wildly successful Little Brother, young Marcus Yallow was arbitrarily detained and brutalized by the government in the wake of a terrorist attack on San Francisco—an experience that led him to become a leader of the whole movement of technologically clued-in teenagers, fighting back against the tyrannical security state.A few years later, California's economy collapses, but Marcus’s hacktivist past lands him a job as webmaster for a crusading politician who promises reform. Soon his former nemesis Masha emerges from the political underground to gift him with a thumbdrive containing a Wikileaks-style cable-dump of hard evidence of corporate and governmental perfidy. It’s incendiary stuff—and if Masha goes missing, Marcus is supposed to release it to the world. Then Marcus sees Masha being kidnapped by the same government agents who detained and tortured Marcus years earlier.Marcus can leak the archive Masha gave him—but he can’t admit to being the leaker, because that will cost his employer the election. He’s surrounded by friends who remember what he did a few years ago and regard him as a hacker hero. He can’t even attend a demonstration without being dragged onstage and handed a mike. He’s not at all sure that just dumping the archive onto the Internet, before he’s gone through its millions of words, is the right thing to do.Meanwhile, people are beginning to shadow him, people who look like they’re used to inflicting pain until they get the answers they want. Fast-moving, passionate, and as current as next week, Homeland is every bit the equal of Little Brother—a paean to activism, to courage, to the drive to make the world a better place.
