《The Man Ruined by The Gods》Chapter 18: The Original Plan

“Head!”
“Boss!”
“Master~”
Xenados was simply strolling around the town but whenever someone see’s him he is greeted or called. The people would either wave or bow towards him. He may only look to be a kid but the people in this small town all respect him.
“Seriously they should not be that respectful towards me… it’s not like I will be staying here forever”
Those were his thoughts that he said out loud, it’s a good thing that no one heard it because if any of the people living in the town did they would be devastated.
But next to Xenados is Antionia, it’s been three months since they took the beastmen in and in those three months nothing significant occurred.
Everyday they would fix problems and small fights and quarrels, while managing the other important parts of the town such as the farms and the plumbing.
There were a few problems about plumbing especially when the beastmen humans came. Most of the beastmen had trouble with the toilets that Xenados introduced as such the shades were made to create new brilliant idea’s for their toilets.
Of course the farms were also a problem, with the increase of the towns population the job of the town head is to ensure that his people are well fed.
The job is easier said than done especially since Xenados would have to extend the town to accommodate farmlands. The crater made by the dragon had enough space to create a town. But Xenados had to start farming to support his people.
Hunting is indeed a good source of food, but that has its demerits as well. To be able to support that many people hunting 2 to 3 beast is done every day. Although that may seem to be an insignificant amount Xenados knew very well that that amount would slowly pile up and soon he might cause the destruction of the ecosystem.
To counter this problem he had to extend the land and to d so he had to clear forest.
The job was done fairly easy, with the help of his “trusted” system he managed to gain a hectare of farmland. Well that hectare of land was divided into two.
Half is for farms the other is for grazing animals. He had to have a field for both, hunting is important and is great and all but to manage his ever growing town he’d have to make a stable source of food.

The land had to have protection of course, with that for one month he and the architect shades built a wall to surround the village and the farms.
The jobs were done efficiently and by one month a twenty feet or two storey tall wall which is ten meters thick was erected. At first Xenados thought it was too much but when he thought about the dragon he fought he decided it was the right decision.
Of course many of the elves wanted to correct his way of thinking some even wanted to tell him to not use the dragon as reference but when they thought about it.
“It’s safer this way right?”
“Yeah and we could easily protect the city in case some sort of invasion arrives”
“Hahaha! We’ll show them what we halfs could do!”
Of course the people all had varying responses but in the end they were happy that they didn’t have to live in constant fear of monster attacks.
Now Xenados was looking down on the farms, the seeds that were cultured using magic and the assistance of the system as well as some “farmer” shades(which are actually mages excelling in nature magic) the town is able to grow potatoes and a few fruit bearing trees.
“Seriously to be able to engineer potatoes that only need a month to grow and apple, peach and banana tree that could grow here and even take only a month to grow fruits….”
[This is the result of nature magic and science mixing together, as well as my and the shades expertise]
“Yeah if it weren’t for m-”
[Your beloved system and shades...]
Xenados was silent as he stared at space but in truth he was making an expression as if glaring at the system.
[The truth is after all without me and the shades you wouldn’t be able to even build a house, much less a wall and farmlands]
To the systems reply Xenados could only stay silent he had nothing else to say. The fact may be that they are his servants or whatnot but it’s the undeniable truth that all this town has become is due to the system and the shades.
In fact the current state of affairs the logistics and all the other managerial stuff that needs to be done is being accomplished by a shade.
[But you would need not worry, I am a part of you that will assist you in your plans, also it’s not like you are useless, in fact you have the greatest talent that I will never have]

“What is it?”
[If I told you then wouldn’t that only hinder your growth? Instead of asking the answers from someone isn’t it far better to find the answers yourself?]
Xenados could only sigh to the system.
“But… even if I did successfully make a safe haven I still want to find out the truth about that father of mine and how do I destroy that god”
[The answer is simply, you only need to become a god yourself]
To the answer of the system Xenados once again let out a long sigh.
“Well since that’s it I have a question, what do you think of my father?”
[...]
The system didn’t answer, Xenados knew very well that this was the sign that it can’t give out an answer to. But just as he was about to give up the system did answer him and the answer left him speechless.
[Sabien… a noble vampire and your father… if anything he would be a target]
Xenados was shocked, target? He knew something was wrong with his father but he can’t properly point it out. But for the system to place him as a target, Xenados could not help but shiver when he thought of what the reason may be.
“Could you specify the reason for this?”
Although he didn’t want to know not for him but for his mother. Antonia loves Sabien very much but if Xenados were to tell her that he intends to kill him… he could not imagine what his mother would do.
But before he could think of retracting his question the answer already came.
[Sabien the noble vampire and your father, his emotions ever since your birth have been nothing but fake. Even his emotions and his love for your mother is fake, through the various life experiences in more than a thousand worlds immortals, beings that have an almost infinite lifespan would love playing with races that have shorter lived lives than them. A prime example of this is the god Vincentius.]
[To this the vampire Sabien has most likely took your mother the demoness Antonia to bear a child and toy with her, if not for this why else would a Noble Vampire with so much power marry a demoness who doesn’t have any redeeming trait]
[Also as your memory suggest your father should be the highest ranking vampire in this continent. If that is placed into perspective the other vampires would never dare to attack his beloved family]
Xenados was continuously shocked and he was shifting from shock and rage the whole while. Shocked at how cunning and manipulative Sabien is and rage at how he dared to toy with his beloved mothers innocent heart.
[In this scenario it is easy to perceive that Sabien has plotted to play with you guys till your death but for him to throw away his “toys” this may prove top show something.]
“What is it?”
Xenados of course didn’t let his anger consume him and fail to notice this, he realized that there was something wrong with the statements and the conclusions that the system has made.
If he and his mother were really just toys to that Vampire then why would he throw us before getting to the good part, it can’t be that he simply wanted to play house now, can it?
[The reason is varied but among all the various conclusion but among them all one would be most likely, and that is, a powerful enemy has made him to do so]
“Then that would mean”
[That there is a power that even an immortal Vampire ruling over his race in an entire continent would fear]
“And a power like that...”
[Would be one that can or already attain godhood]
“But...”
[That possibility can’t b e ruled out and to make an immortal powerhouse fearful his enemy would more or less likely be god]
Those words put Xenados deep into contemplation, it is true that a god could make his father do that but why would a god do so? No his thoughts are, what does the god intend to do by helping me?
With this Xenados instead of fearing for the future looked up and a smile showed on his face.
“If that’s the case then all I need to do is increase my strength much that I could go against god!”

Determined to carve out a new place for herself and make the most of her good fortune, Lee Jia dives head first into the world of magic and martial arts. Fates Parallel is my first serious attempt at writing a story, and a personal love letter to Eastern fantasy and xianxia stories. It's heavily inspired by East Asian culture, folklore, and mythology, with what is likely going to be a decidedly Western artistic license. I try to write every day, with a goal of about 45,000 words per month (~1500 per day). Chapter lengths are around 3000 words on average, releasing on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
