《Red Harvest》Chapter 5 - Basics

It hurts, actually saying ‘it’ doesn’t really justify what I feel as everything hurts. As far as Rafael's training goes if this is how it is going to be my future looks quite bleak. Right now I’m lying on the floor sprawled out in agony, so my first real interaction with Rafael consisted of him beating me up, it could have been worse, maybe. “Well you did better than expected” I turn to see my attendant standing there looking very relaxed clearly having not broken a sweat and looking a little smug, which was a first for me as he always looked like to brooding serious type. “Hey now no need to be angry I just wanted to gauge a bit of your natural ability of which I was quite impressed, your form for a beginner was quite good, you didn’t overextend and even though you knew you couldn’t win you tried your best which I am most impressed about” The smile on his face spoke wonders about what he was feeling clearly he was feeling quite proud while I was just disappointed in myself, my will to win clouded my judgement and I used my old training to try and win a pointless battle, Its a good thing he already thinks I’m a genius otherwise I wouldn’t know how to explain this. “What time is it?” I ask mainly because I want to know how much time I will waste having to recover from this. “Its only 8 young master, we’ve been training for 2 hours, don’t worry this is the end for today I will let you recuperate for today” What a joy I get to lay in my room for the rest of my day, pulling my self together I'm able to stand up and start making my way out with my attendant following closely behind. As I enter the training field I’m able to see my siblings practice for the first time. My sister is taking up dagger arts and is being trained by her female attendant Shardi a slender scout and is currently practicing her flexibility, while my brother was being trained in great sword arts by his attendant a warrior named Elric there was nothing to say about him other than the fact that he was a mountain of muscle and it seemed he was trying to turn my brother into one as well. “What do you think of their training methods?” I am stopped by the sudden question from my father who was waiting outside. I take a look at what sort of training they are doing and how it relates to their chosen weapon. “Anita is currently studying dagger arts so increasing her flexibility would be perfect for her arts as it would increase her range of motion and mobility in close range, while Noah is increasing his strength as that would help in his great-sword arts because of the weight of his weapon” “What is the foundation of our blood moon arts?” His question made me think because while our arts was considered a copper rank martial arts considered even lower than the goupe ghoere martial art which was also a copper rank, but father and his father insisted on having their own martial arts for the family, was it pride that made them stupid. “I don’t know I haven’t studied our family's art yet” “Balance, having skill in all areas, being a jack of most trades so to speak. It is the reason why these two will only be training them for 2-3 more months then I will have to move them on, can you tell me why?” “I can understand why you might not be happy with Elric as his muscles might not help his range of motion and will make it harder to learn different weapons but Shardi is just teaching her flexibility I don’t see how that will make a difference.” “It won’t, it will just be beneficial but Shardi is training her in the mindset of a scout not a warrior, that is where she has went wrong.” my father leaves it at that before starting to walk away. I turn to look at Rafael wondering if this was in some way a warning to him for how he wanted my training to proceed. Instead of overthinking what my father was saying I decide to make my way to my study room. It was my own personal area more private than my bedroom father only allowed my to use it because of my progress in my general studies. The room itself was neat there was a rug with the family crest on, a half crescent moon on a red banner, multiple book shelf's filled with books that by now I have already read and a office desk where I can do my homework or other learning like today.
