Finally got in, fucking PH net.
And I am back~
From outer space~
So... "Cavaron" means "to dig" or something in Spanish. Maybe, instead of the Flame of Chaos, I should have given him the Earth of Temperance. Then again, he'll have a redundant personality.
Have a rewrite of a chapter.
-------------------------------
Game mechanics:
This is a two-player board game that simulates war. Each player has 21 game pieces on a 72-square game board, 8 rows by 9 columns. Players place their pieces to whatever formation they wish on the first three rows of their side.
The pieces represent the military hierarchy and are as follow from the highest rank to the lowest rank and special units:
1 x 5-Star General (5G)
1 x 4-Star General (4G)
1 x 3-Star General (3G)
1 x 2-Star General (2G)
1 x 1-Star General (1G)
1 x Colonel (Col)
1 x Lieutenant Colonel (LCol)
1 x Major (Maj)
1 x Captain (Cap)
1 x First Lieutenant (1L)
1 x Second Lieutenant (2L)
1 x Sergeant (Sgt)
6 x Privates (Pvt)
2 x Spies (Spy)
1 x Flag
Neither player can see the identities of the other player's pieces thus simulating a fog of war. Higher ranking pieces, officers especially, can kill all pieces of lower ranks except for the two spies. Spies can kill every piece except for the six Privates. If two opposing pieces of the same rank challenge one another, both pieces die. Often times, a neutral Arbiter participates in judging the challenges. As an uwritten rule, the eliminated pieces are not divulged to the opposing player, ensuring secrecy.
All pieces have the same move: one square forward, backward, or sideways, as long as it is not blocked by the board's edg. Also, a piece cannot move onto a square already occupied by a friendly piece.
The game ends if either Flag gets captured or the Flag safely reaches the opposing far side and remains unchallenged for one more turn. All pieces can capture the opposing Flag, and the Flag can challenge the opposing Flag to result in the challenger's victory. Any Flag that challenges another piece that is NOT a Flag is commiting suicide.
...
Within Cavaron's subconscious remained the flame-enveloped Cavaron, seated on one side of a lone table. Across him, however, was no longer his earlier opponent, Hideki, but a surprising challenger. This challenger wore a distinct male Terrain military uniform with medals and badges pinned onto his chest. The military man was Daichi Aoyama, Colonel of the Japanese Army and leader of Combined Task Force 143.
"Interesting." commented the flame-enveloped Cavaron, "Seeing as you had no tactical or strategic skill, you delegated your task to a more suitable person. Haha, I have to commend you for doing so rather than stupidly charging forward in vain."
The flame-enveloped Cavaron gave a pleased expression towards a Japanese man standing behind Daichi. Hideki stoically stared at the flame-enveloped Cavaron's face. This lackluster reaction made the flame-enveloped Cavaron frown.
"Che, would be nice to see you grovel again." sneered the flame-enveloped Cavaron, "Then again, fuck me if we get wet inside here. Haha! Well then, Colonel, are you up for a match with freedom as a prize? I had explained the rules to you, and all we need to do is to place the pieces on the board."

Daichi picked up one piece after another, inspecting them while occasionally glancing on the board where the flame-enveloped Cavaron's pieces were alreaded set up. The pieces, black in color, had their rank insignias hidden from his sight. His own pieces, however, were white in colo and displayed the rank insignias. Currently, he was holding the 5G piece.
"These ranks..." said Daichi, "Their insignias' designs seem familiar, but I can't recall where."
"Of course they would remind you of something." said the flame-enveloped Cavaron, "This game is, after all, a Terrain game, albeit not well-known to those foreign to its origin but its origin is well-known to many well-informed individuals."
Daichi eyed the flame-enveloped Cavaron before replacing his pieces. He had looked over how the flame-enveloped Cavaron arranged his black pieces. A 3x3 formation at the very middle, and two 2x3 formations on both flanks with each being a space apart from the central formation. Daichi had then begun to place his pieces to a formation he felt satisfied with. He filled his entire third row, left the middle of the second row empty, and had filled the led and rightmost flanks of the first row with two pieces each. He only had a hollow triangle within his formation.
As soon as Daichi lifted his hands off his pieces, a coin appeared in the middle of the board. One side was black, the other was white. This coin flew high up, and flipped around, then landed back with its white side facing up.
"Hmm, you first." said the flame-enveloped Cavaron to Daichi.
Taking it as a cue, Daichi brought forward one of his vanguard pieces. In response, the flame-enveloped Cavaron had his Sgt meet it. The first challenge, this early in the game, was done by Daichi and challenged the black Sgt. Once Daichi moved his piece and lifted his arm, both black and white pieces went up in flames to oblivion. This surprised Daichi, but made the flame-enveloped Cavaron smile.
"Both Sergeants dead." he said, "Two turns, three phases into the game, and we both lost something already."
Daichi maintained his silence.
"Well, no matter." said the flame-enveloped Cavaron, "The thrill of devouring each other's pieces begins in earnest."
Two turns had passed until Daichi had successfully eliminated a black LCol. The flame-enveloped Cavaron raised a brow.
"That was a pretty high-ranking piece." he commented, "Now I'm curious about that piece you have there. Heh heh heh... Hey, why are you maintaining your silence? Come on, taunt me a little, eh? Or... or are you the silent calculating type? Hahahaha!"
"Words are cheap," replied Daichi, "but silence is golden."
"Silence is boring." refuted the flame-enveloped Cavaron.
Six turns quietly passed, maneuvering each of their pieces, until the flame-enveloped Cavaron's 3G was challenged. Daichi moved his piece into the black 3G's space, and both were sent to oblivion.
"Hahaha! Good, good!" cheered the flame-enveloped Cavaron, "That's the spirit! Both our 3-star Generals are dead! Hahaha!"
While the flame-enveloped Cavaron was laughing, Daichi had an unpleasant face. This was noted by the flame-enveloped Cavaron.
"Well, let's continue." said the flame-enveloped Cavaron.
Three turns later, the flame-enveloped Cavaron moved a black Pvt to challenge Daichi's piece but solely went up in flames instead.

"Oops." said the flame-enveloped Cavaron.
Daichi glanced at his opponent's expressions and back at the board. Another two turns passed and a black 1L died in vain after challenging a white piece.
"Goddammit." cursed the flame-enveloped Cavaron, "I'm losing more, huh..."
Although, one turn later, a black Spy successfully eliminated a white piece that was dangerously next the the black Flag. Including the next turn when a white piece challenged the second black Spy.
"Finally!" cheered the flame-enveloped Cavaron, "Haha! Now, I wonder wha they killed."
Five turns later, Daichi moved a white piece onto the first black Spy. Sweat formed on his brows as he placed the piece and looked at the flame-enveloped Cavaron's face without lifting his hands off the piece. As soon as he did so, flames shot out from beneath the black Spy, destroying it. The flame-enveloped Cavaron's face twisted into wild glee.
"A Private!" he exclaimed, "Good job, Colonel! Hahaha!"
Relief washed Daichi's face momentarily, but the flame-enveloped Cavaron still maintained his gleeful expression despite having a white Pvt threateningly close to the black Flag. Such is the game, however, as Daichi himself had no idea that victory was just a move away. A chance taken, or a chance lost?
A chance lost, as Daichi moved his Pvt back from being surrounded by unknown pieces.
"Aww..." said the flame-enveloped Cavaron sadly, "Too bad, so sad."
Daichi raised a brow as to why the flame-enveloped Cavaron said so, but paid it no heed. Two turns later, a white piece challenged a black Spy leading to both pieces going up in flames.
"Damn... No more spies." cursed the flame-enveloped Cavaron, "Time to step it up? Weeheehee~"
The flame-enveloped Cavaron tried to chase the white Pvt a turn later with a black 2L, but was killed instead by another white piece. After that, the flame-enveloped Cavaron's demeanor changed.
"Charge!!!" he shouted, "Go forth, Raging Mad Bull!"
For four turns, the flame-enveloped Cavaron sole moved his black 5G. The black 5G was unimpeded that, by the fifth turn, eventually killed a white piece.
"Haha!" laughed the flame-enveloped Cavaron, "Yes! YES! YES!!!"
Daichi was shocked at the sudden spike in confidence that he wondered what that sole black piece could be. A trap? But both black Spies were already eliminated. Two more turns, and the black 5G eliminated another white piece. This, coupled with the flame-enveloped Cavaron's confidence, wavered Daichi's morale as he began to sweat.
Afterwards, the black 5G stopped, and a black 1G moved in the next turn but was eliminated four turns later.
"Hmm!?" uttered the flame-enveloped Cavaron disbelievingly, "........................ Well, whatever... Go, Raging Mad Bull!"
The flame-enveloped Cavaron's black 4G jumped onto a white piece, and occupied the space. This surprised Daichi seeing as there was another "Mad Bull" on his farthest right flank. The next turn, he moved a white piece to challenge the unknown black 5G in vain.
"Woohoo! Mad Bull! Mad Bull! Mad Bull! chanted the flame-enveloped Cavaron while pumping his fists.
Daichi became panic-stricken. For the next three turns, the black 5G moved around, looking for another delicious meal until, out of peculiarity, a lone white piece was seemingly running away from it. The curious sight made the flame-enveloped Cavaron, well, curious and sought to test it out. Three turns of cat and mouse with the lone white piece, a smiled formed on the flame-enveloped Cavaron's face and a frown floated on Daichi's face.
"Heh heh..." snickered the flame-enveloped Cavaron, "Is that what I think it is?"
Daichi didn't answer, still trying to maintain his cool.
"Delicious." commented the flame-enveloped Cavaron as he licked his lips like a predator stalking a prey.
Two turns later, another white piece was frantically chasing the black 5G. A curious sight that went unnoticed. The flame-enveloped Cavaron released the black 5G and let his black 4G resume being a Mad Bull destroying the rest of the white pieces. With one white Spy out of the way, the flame-enveloped Cavaron took a gamble to test the two curious white pieces.
Only when the reinforcing white piece arrive next to the black 5G did the black 5G move away. The targeted white piece, the prey of the black 5G, ran to the reinforcing white piece.
"Flag and spy, found!" announced the flame-enveloped Cavaron, "Whatchu gonna do, whatchu gonna do when I come for yoo!?"
The jig is up, as shown on Daichi's frustrated expression. Not willing to concede, Daichi kept going.
"Good! Good!" cheered the flame-enveloped Cavaron, "Struggle and let me crush your hopes and dreams! Hahaha!"
For the next five turns, the black 5G was quiet. Instead, a black Pvt openly went after the remaining white Spy.
"Kill!!" roared the flame-enveloped Cavaron but fell short when the black Pvt was intercepted at the last moment, "Fuck!"
All remaining white pieces converged to reinforce the white flag in the next 10 turns seeing as there was no piece that could threaten the last white Spy. Thus began the long game of cat and mouse, with the black 5G and another black Pvt chasing the white Spy and white Flag.
"Let's spice things up a bit." announced the flame-enveloped Cavaron, "Those two pieces of mine? That there is a 5-Star General, and over here is a Private."
Six turns later and the white flag escaped the black 5G, only to come with sight of another black piece: a black 4G.
"And that over there is a 4-Star General!" announced the flame-enveloped Cavaron, "Haha! Come on! Gimme, gimme! Gimme, gimme! Gimme, gimme! Gimme more!"
Eight more turns of cat and mouse with the black 5G, 4G and Pvt, and white Flag, Spy and other pieces. During the eight turns, though, another piece was moving around: the black Flag. On the ninth turn, though, the flame-enveloped Cavaron got careless and got his 4G eliminated by the white Spy.
"Aw, shit." he cursed, "Now what?"
The black 5G moved, now it was Daichi's turn to get careless as HIS VERY SPY CHALLENGED THE BLACK PRIVATE. Well, it died... in vain. Daichi's jaw dropped at his own mistake that he finally spoke out.
"God-freaking-dammit all!" cursed Daichi, "Shit! SHIT!"
With no more chances to redeem himself, he trudged while still keeping his flag safe. As soon as he was distracted by the black 5G, he failed to notice the lone piece that sauntered forward unimpeded in the next two turns.
The black Flag revealed itself upon reaching the opposite side ending in victory for the flame-enveloped Cavaron.
