《Songs of Legacies: Cavaron [Complete Draft]》Chapter 72

I have an exam in twenty hours.
Shameless begging:
Spoiler : Also, like I said before and on my signature, I am shamelessly begging for money for a PC. Although I am writing Cavaron on a phone (and will probably finish it on a phone), I expect to type faster with ten fingers than with only two thumbs. Better quality, too, with spell checks and grammar checks (I only have spell check, I have no grammar check) especially since I organize better seeing all my references, notes, and stories side by side on a screen with RAM greater than 1 GB.
Songs of Legacies is not just one story. The other people you've read about within Cavaron have stories of their own. Even the worlds Cavaron had visited: Ladenras and Belfron. Of course, in a different era, either before or after Cavaron. Carne, the gem girl from Edeortha, also has a story to tell, although not entirely hers. Even Cavaron's Cipher friend has his very own story. These are not mere side stories, but full length, many-chapter stories especially for one story (that would have been an RPG. Hell, they would all be.) that I've been picking up and dropping for the past three years (eight years, if I include the chuunibyou moments).
One could imagine the amount of text I could put out if I have a PC... Or the games I could create once I get a copy of RPG Maker MV (I already have VX Ace) or if I could run Unity without crashing.
Here's my PayPal email:
[email protected]
A friend of mine told me to mention to you to send money as "Friends and/or Family" instead of "Goods and/or Services" since I heard PayPal takes a fee.
My ultimate goal is an equivalent of $500 +/- $50, unless I find a cheaper but powerful alternative.
Of course, you are not obligated to send me money for me to churn out chapters (like a few authors do). I am not writing for money but for fun. I want to put my stories into writing before I turn them into games, and even the games would likely be free since I don't really want to deal with commercial creative commons and copyrights. Maybe I will write for money if a publisher becomes interested, which I doubt and will likely heavily revise the story, but the web novels will remain for free.
For an idea of what I've done when I still had a PC, here are some maps that I've done before.

Cheers.

Aimi and her father, Daichi, were tightly embracing one another. Daichi, who was in tears, pulled himself away to inspect his daughter.
「あんたは何が起こった!?」 shouted Daichi, 「何処に行った!?」
「っ、あ..... えっと..... 説明するのが難しい.....」 replied Aimi as she stuttered looking down. Slowly, she turned her head towards Cavaron and Maguro, "Ah, what should I say? How do I tell him about our circumstances?"
Daichi followed Aimi's gaze, and found Cavaron on the other end. He then heard Aimi speak to Cavaron in Japanese, but Cavaron replied in an unknown language. Seeing that his daughter seemed to understand Cavaron, he asked Aimi a question.
「あの人、彼は誰?」 said Daichi.
Aimi faced Daichi once more, 「えっと.....カバロン先輩だ。」
「先輩.....?」 exclaimed Daichi, 「どういう意味?」
Cavaron watched the Aoyamas' exchange. When Aimi asked him what to say, he replied, "I could make this easier for all of us." Hearing Aimi say his name and seeing her get flustered after Daichi said something to her, Cavaron sighed.
"Fuck it." he said, "I can't understand a thing you're saying. Step aside, Aimi."
Cavaron's finger released a soft blue glow. Aimi heard Cavaron and looked at him. Finding the blue glow around his finger, she understood immediately what he had in mind. As for Maguro, when he felt the mana around Cavaron's finger fluctuate, he hesitated whether he should let Cavaron do as he pleased or stop him at all costs. Maguro chose the former as he simply turned away.

「お父さん。」 said Aimi, 「ちょっと待って下さい。」
Aimi took a few steps back, and was replaced by Cavaron who had begun to raise his mana-infused finger as he approached Daichi. Daichi was wondering what Cavaron was planning to do seeing Aimi unhesitatingly give way. Within his mind, he wondered about the relationship between the two of them.
When Cavaron was already within arm's reach, Daichi had opened his mouth to speak. However, before his voice had left his lips, Cavaron's hand blurred before him, and he felt a strange sensation on his forehead.
「あんた、何を......っ!?」 uttered Daichi.
Daichi felt an intense burning sensation spread throughout his head. Both of his hands grabbed hold of his head, his body dropping onto his knees, and his entirety squirmed in pain.
「っ.....く.....うわああー!!!」 screamed Daichi.
The soldiers around them became alarmed. The sentries with Daichi immediately charged towards Cavaron to restrain him, and the others aimed their weapons at him. Before the sentries could touch Cavaron, his body flickered slightly and reappeared crouching next to Daichi. His ungodly fast movement dumbfounded everybody around them.
「あんた.....」 said Daichi angrily, "What in the world did you do to me!?"
Hearing this, Cavaron smiled. "Hahaha... Good. I can understand you now." he said, "Can you understand me?"
"What...?" uttered Daichi as he stared in shock, "H-h-h-how...?"
Cavaron, while crouching next to Daichi, brought his arm over Daichi's shoulders and grinned. "Long story, short..." he told Daichi, "I'm a god. Well, not really a god, per se."
Daichi stared at Cavaron, unable to say anything. The surrounding soldiers had no idea what was happening, but could do nothing due to Cavaron's proximity with Daichi. Suddenly, two red dots appeared on Cavaron's head, and someone spoke through a public address system.
"Step away from the colonel." said the voice, "Obey or you will be shot."
Cavaron, of course, noticed the red dots on his face since there were red lights directed at him from a tower. Inside the tower was a woman with the Russian Federation flag embroidered on her uniform, and wielded a Dragunov (SVD). Next to her was another woman with the United States flag embroidered on her uniform and wielded an M14 Enhanced Battle Rifle.
The two snipers were side by side as their fingers remained firm off the trigger. Behind them was a man with a pair of binoculars in one hand, and a microphone in the other.
"I repeat, step away from Colonel Aoyama." said the man, "You have three seconds to comply."
Cavaron smirked, "Try it, if you dare!" and loudly said as he stood up with open arms.
Of course, none but Aiko, Daichi, Maguro, and Aimi, understood what he declared. Maguro, having heard Cavaron's declaration, could only cover his face with his hands and let out a deep sigh. For Aimi, she just sat next to Daichi's stunned self. As for Aiko and Daichi, the two had no idea how to react with regards to the current situation.
"Three... Two... One..." counted down the man, "Time's up! Bring him down!"
The two women in front of the man placed their fingers on the trigger and immediately pulled it. Gunfire tore through the air, and two 7.62 bullets discharged from their rifles' muzzles. In an instant, right before the gunfire faded, the bullets were already before Cavaron and only needed a blink of an eye to pierce his head.
However, Cavaron had his entirety already emitting a soft blue glow, visible only to Maguro and Aimi. His entire body had been infused mana, and his eyes had turned blue due to Mana Sight. To Cavaron, the two bullets were like butterflies slightly flying through the air. With an outrageously swift wave of a mana-infused hand, he parried the two bullets away from his face. The two bullets ricocheted off into the air until they lost momentum and subsequently fell to the ground.

In a split second, the soldiers within the fortress had witnessed a heaven-sundering feat as they watched two battle rifle bullets clatter away.
"M-monster!" a soldier shouted.
The surrounding soldiers trembled at Cavaron's imposing, grinning figure. Cavaron returned to the gobsmacked Daichi and spoke in his ear.
"Do you believe me now?" he said, "Oh, by the way, prepare the base. There is a load of entities approaching from all directions. About two hundred are coming here. I expect a base of six hundred seventy eight elites should be ready."
Daichi snapped out of his stupor when Cavaron told him about an incoming attack. "How do you know this?" he asked.
"I just showed everybody here my capability of deflecting bullets, yet you still doubt me?" said Cavaron with a frown, "Since you're a Japanese, I take it that you're familiar with the cartoons and comics your country produces, yeah? You could say that I am like those fantastical beings your people thought about. Aimi, as well, actually."
Daichi snapped his head towards Aimi, then back at Cavaron, then back at Aimi once more.
"Aimi, what does he mean?" he asked his daughter, "Did it have something to do with your disappearance?"
Aimi smiled at her father. "Yes." she answered, "I became like Cavaron-senpai. I became something like a magician."
"A magic archer, to be precise." added Cavaron, "Uh-oh, better hurry. Those two hundred will be arriving soon."
However, even though Cavaron had warned them, it was already too late. Sirens erupted all over the base, and a voice shouted through the public address system.
"Red alert, red alert!" shouted the voice, "Incoming attack from all directions! I repeat, incoming attack from all directions! Oh, shit! Saizensen has fallen! Saizensen has falle— kshh..."
A series of explosions and gunfire erupted all around the fortress. The civilians outside the fortress panicked and stampeded their way into the compound, the coalition forces scrambled to their battle stations, and the towers and walls lit up with gunshots and cannon fire.
Cavaron watched the chaos around him. "Well, that was quick." he commented, "Hey, Aiko. Bring your boss somewhere safe where he could observe and direct the base."
Aiko stepped forward to bring Daichi and Aimi towards a building but Cavaron prevented her from bringing Aimi away. "What's wrong?" asked Aiko.
"Aimi will be grinding for experience with me." replied Cavaron.
Immediately, Aimi brought out her mithril bow from the bag she received from Cavaron. Seeing a large bow come out of a small bag surprised Aiko but pressed no further. "Fine, but you make sure she ends up safe." she said, "The repercussions Colonel may have if she dies will be disastrous for us as well."
"Ha! I doubt anybody in this world could kill her!" replied Cavaron with pride, "I am her mentor, after all! Maguro, do what you do best."
Maguro silently shrugged, and ran off to a building with a red cross painted on its wall, and outside this building were soldiers with a red cross on their helmets as they ran in and out while carrying injured people.
"I doubt he will reveal his power here like I had." commented Cavaron, "Too bad, I would love to see their reactions when their injured and dying suddenly spring to life, ready for action. What are you looking at?"
Cavaron noticed Aiko stare at him. "I just noticed this but, is Hirosaka-sensei like you?" she asked.
"Hirosaka?" wondered Cavaron as he raised a brow, "You mean Maguro? You know him?"
"Yes, Hirosaka Maguro-sensei is a well-known shamanic healer in Japan." she replied, "We first knew about him a decade ago. However, to see him not age at all was baffling. We always thought he dabbled in mysterious age-defying arts but looking at a freak like you made me realize that the two of you are the same. Now, even Aoyama-san became the same as you."
"Huh, he never said anything about that." said Cavaron, "Then again, I never say much about myself as well. Interesting, that means there will be a party in the infirmary. Hahaha. Now then, get Daichi to a command room or something."
Aiko spoke no further and escorted Daichi to another building. The building had a robust architecture, and its concrete walls seem like they could only be penetrated by specialized weapons. Cavaron looked down on the ground after Aiko and Daichi disappeared into the building, and felt a mass of entities down underground. To him, he felt at least half of the people in the fortress were underground.
"Now then, how to divvy up the kills?" he wondered as he looked around. Aimi was next to him, waiting, "Well, I'll take this side, you take that. Feel free to use mana and call yourself a magical girl."
"Okay sen— what?" replied Aimi, "How do you know that? No, never mind. Forget I asked."
"Strictly speaking, you are one, though." said Cavaron, "A magical archer girl."
"Shut up, senpai." replied Aimi, "Let's go, Aomi."
"Gyao!" roared Aomi with a raised fist.
Cavaron and Aimi split up to the east and west respectively, and began their grind for experience points. Aimi had arrived atop a wall and found what they were to defend against. Aimi found a large company of black monsters accompanied by a smaller group of two-meter tall bipedal mechs. The black monsters were made up of giant black dogs, giant black cats, and giant black birds. The bipedal mechs were also black in color, but the people operating them vastly contrasted. The people inside all had white hair, snow white skin, and gleaming red eyes. This shocked Aimi as they bore resemblance to Cavaron when she first witnessed him use the black flame.
"Why are there kids here!?" shouted a soldier behind Aimi, "Hey, little girls, it's dangerous here!"
The soldier tried to grab hold of Aimi, but she easily evaded the soldier's hand. "Hey! Stay still!" shouted the soldier.
Aimi ignored the soldier and drew her empty bow. The soldiers around her wondered what she planned to do without an arrow. "Since senpai told me to do it anyway, then do it I shall." said Aimi, "Aomi! Beast form!"
Aimi's mithril bow emitted a soft blue light, and a blue arrow formed on her bowstring. The soldiers were taken aback by the fantastical sight of a Japanese girl perform magic. As soon as Aimi told Aomi to transform, she let go of the blue arrow. Aomi, hearing her command, leapt forward then fell down below the walls. The soldiers screamed in panic as they watched a little girl jump down to the battlefield. The soldiers ran towards the edge of the wall and stared in shock at the sight of a large blue bear-like monster down below.
"You really grow fast." commented Aimi, "Is it because of Halrimaw's blood?"
"ROOOOOOAAAAAARRRRR!!!" roared Aomi's giant, imposing one and a half meter tall body. All four of her legs dug deep into the earth when she leapt down.
As for Aimi's arrow, a column of five black monsters were skewered with one shot. They didn't disintegrate unlike having received a hypersonic bullet. Their bodies immediately dropped dead instead. Seeing this, the soldiers and the attackers stared at the young Japanese magical archer girl standing on the wall with her bow drawn once more.
Four red-eyed people looked at one another. With a nod, they aimed their weapons at Aimi. Eight giant guns were pointed at Aimi, and each revealed a bright green light. In an instant, their giant guns released a ray of crackling green light.
"VVVVNNNNNGGGG!!!"
The green light lasted for a second before disappearing, and a large cloud of steam left the mechs from their rears. The green light had actually hit Aimi and created a large cloud of dust from the destroyed concrete, and the surrounding soldiers had scattered. In their panic, they remembered that the girl was Daichi's daughter, and frantically searched for any trace of her.
After the dust had settled, they red-eyed people's eyes went wide, so did the soldiers. Aimi was found still standing with a wall of flames erected before her. The wall of flames had protected her from the attack, and receded into a thin veil that covered her body.
"That... scared me." commented Aimi, "Too close, too... close. If senpai hadn't had his flames cover me, I'd be dead."
Aomi, who was down below, saw Aimi to be safe. Immediately, the Azursa faced the black monsters. Seeing a giant black cat about to pounce onto her, she took the initiative and tackled the giant black cat. A giant blue bear versus a giant black cat, with the blue bear winning by a landslide as she crushed the cat with her powerful maw and claws. Aimi, seeing Aomi able to fend off attacks effortlessly continued on raining down a hellstorm of blue arrows with support from the frenzied soldiers.
...
To the east where Cavaron went, the man in question was atop a bombed out concrete tower and was looking down at the battlefield.
"How the hell did they get that technology?" he wondered as he watched bipedal mechs lay waste to the coalition soldiers with directed energy weapons, "Judging from Daichi's equipment, this world shouldn't have perfected that branch of science yet. Something's amiss... Well, I guess I should match their technology seeing as conventional kinetic weapons hardly damage them plus those monsters."
Cavaron opened a portal ring to his inventory, and pulled out a giant metal box.
"It's been three hours since I dismissed them." he said, "I guess I shouldn't disturb their rest for a few days. Meanwhile, I'll just use the weapons from my collection since I want to see their reaction when I use this baby especially since I can't expect to last long receiving one sonicboom after another."
Cavaron smiled and laughed mischievously as he caressed the metal box.

Beta Test
I'm sure I'm in for some colorful criticism, But if even a few people enjoy this, I'd be happy. As of right now the story is set in Delaware around 2005'ish'. A young man from the streets, aquires a beta test invitation in an unorthodox way. The plan is to have a comical adventure in an experimental virtual reality game. I can easily transition it to a full story if its well received. If not I hope atleast one person kinda likes it. P.s. This is a work of fiction, with made up characters. Any likeness is coincidence.
