Hm... didn't expect it to be this short... eh, well. I have 10 weeks of summer left, aside from looking for a part-time job.

Have a chapter.

Inside the Mana Pylon.

Agrithos led Cavaron to the room where Wynn was recuperating. Inside were a team of medical staff tasked with taking care of the patient. Other than the medical staff, Tania was also there, seated next to the bed where Wynn is sleeping.

Agrithos knocked on the door before entering and leading Cavaron inside. Tania stood up, "Cavaron, are you well enough to walk?" and asked as she came closer.

Cavaron gave Tania a head pat and smiled, "I'm fine, Little Tania." This made Tania blush and tried to hug him, only to be pulled away by her father who just arrived.

"My dear, control yourself." Pietr said to his daughter.

Cavaron just shrugged it off and went to Wynn, while Tania was flailing around to get her father to release her. Cavaron used > to inspect the condition of Wynn's soul. Her soul was glowing weakly but steadily regaining strength. Turning to the others, "Her soul is just weak. Give it some time and she'll wake up on her own." he said. "Hm... Shamira, come inside."

Cavaron called for the elemental outside the room. Shamira shrank herself a bit more and hid her wings to fit inside the room. Now, she looks like an ordinary human aside from the fact she emits a faint golden glow.

"What is it, Cavaron?" she said. Tania, seeing Shamira's beauty outside of battle, couldn't help but fidget uncomfortably.

Cavaron faced the elemental, "Do you have an ability that may help in recovering a soul's vitality?" and asked.

Unfortunately, Shamira shook her head without a second thought, "Many pardons, This One's abilities can do nothing outside of revival. Revitalization of the soul itself is left to others, mostly by the self. Although, it may be best to call for Culverin for his > to strengthen the body." and replied.

This made Cavaron frown a bit, "Hm... not sure if a week's worth of mana is enough to summon him. I may have to do nothing for another day or two."

Agrithos then cut in between them, "Cavaron, how about this, we will both wait for Wynn to wake up and have you regain your mana to summon a contract. Whichever comes first will be the priority, either Wynn wakes up first or you call another summon. Is that better?" and proposed an idea.

Cavaron looked at his teacher then at Wynn, "Well, it is possible that she may wake up before I reach Culverin... okay. Whichever comes first will be the priority." and accepted his teacher's proposal.

Thus, days went by waiting for either Wynn to wake up or Cavaron regaining enough mana. Tania, however, took this as a chance to get closer with Cavaron. During these days, Cavaron closed himself up within the altar area to absorb large amounts of mana. The only time that he leaves the place was to eat or take a bath, of which Tania tried to ambush him during bath time forcing Pietr to accompany Cavaron.

Pietr was soaking in a tub next to Cavaron's, "So, Cavaron. What do you think of Tania?" Cavaron, who was relaxing in a tub of hot water nearly slipped down deeper at Pietr's question.

"You ask me that now when you were against having her come closer to me!?" he retorted.

"Well, during your summoning, you wholeheartedly refused her offer and, well, I do think that was a bad time since everybody was very busy with work. Then, suddenly, my daughter, the Premier, summoned you out of nowhere and proposed to you."

Cavaron's mouth went agape at Pietr.

"Well?" Pietr followed up.

Cavaron was silent for a while before answering the question, "I don't think I could bear loving someone again, even if the person in question loves me more than I do to the other." and looked up to the ceiling, "Tania... Tania is very beautiful, now that twenty years have passed but..."

"But what?"

"I can't help looking at her like a little sister that clings to her elder brother. I have told you before, right? Twenty years ago, I told you about my life 800 years or so long ago before I became a champion. About my family, my beginnings, and how when I returned to the place I was from, they all disappeared."

*Splash*

Cavaron splashed some water on his face before continuing, "I can't bring myself to love a person whom I know will be gone before me."

Pietr went silent for a while and thought about the past, "Then, what about that person you met a hundred odd years ago?"

Cavaron lazily turned his head towards Pietr, "My final mistake." and just smiled before getting out of the bath.

Pietr just sat in his tub as he watched Cavaron leave. When Cavaron passed the door leading to the corridors, he found Tania standing nearby with tears falling down her face.

"You heard it all?" he asked her. Tania just nodded silently while looking into his eyes. Cavaron brought his finger to wipe away her tears before saying, "I'm sorry." and left the Rusvichs behind.

---

A week has passed and Wynn has yet to wake up. Cavaron has now regained enough mana to call a summon. As planned, he will summon Culverin to aid the healing of Wynn with the > to hasten her recovery.

Everybody was in the altar room awaiting the summoned contract. Shamira was just standing at the side, and was not dismissed because she was also tasked to eliminate any remaining undead with the Rusvich Army. Cavaron stood at an open place and gathered mana to summon Culverin. Tania wasn't with them and was with Wynn instead. Pietr was out with the Rusvich Army to patrol the area.

Cavaron now began the chant, "Passionate flames of the ever burning Scarlet Goddess!" but, right in the middle of the chant, Tania came running inside, shouting,

"She's awake!! Wynn has woken up!!" and made Cavaron cut the chant short by freezing the mana flow. "Urgh! Phew... Cut off chants really hurt..."

Without a second thought, Cavaron, Shamira, Agrithos, Tania, and the other Archaeologists went to where Wynn was.

Back inside Wynn's room, there were the medical staff were running tests on Wynn to make sure she was well. Wynn, who was sitting up straight, was being bombarded with questions about how she feels. Tania, seeing the panicking Wynn, ordered all of the staff to leave. When the last one left, only Cavaron, Agrithos, Shamira, and Tania were left inside. This time Tania dived into Wynn and hugged her in tears.

"Waaaaa!! Wynn, you're safe!!!" she cried.

Wynn winced when Tania hugged her, "Ow! Tania, get off me!" and tried to push her off. While she was struggling, Cavaron approached. Wynn noticed the familiar blue armor and red cape. She stopped struggling against Tania and went for her glasses which was in her inner breast pocket, still intact. Upon wearing her glasses, her sight became clear enough to see him.

"It really was you..." she said, covering her mouth in disbelief as tears fell from her eyes.

"Hey, Little Wynn. Long time, no see." Cavaron waved at her.

Tania stopped hugging Wynn, stood up, and left for a seat, "He saved you, you know?" and said.

Wynn looked at her friend, back to Cavaron, "Yes, I know. I mean, I shouldn't but I felt him. I felt his power while I was gone..." and stood up.

Wynn came closer to Cavaron and placed her hand on his cheek, "It really was you. Thank you." then hugged him.

"Sniff... ahh... waaaa... thank you! Thank you for saving me!" she cried and cried in his arms. Cavaron just caressed her head and let her cry all she wants.

After a long time of crying, Wynn parted from Cavaron and sat back down on the bed. "You should go back to sleep and rest some more." Cavaron said to her, "Don't worry, I won't leave yet. Just take your time, and I'll take mine. Hm... maybe we should call for Baby Lucas?"

Wynn let out a chuckle when she heard the last one, "Come now, we're all adults now, and stop calling us 'little' or 'baby', okay?"

"Compared to me?" Cavaron pointed to himself, "Heck, with my age, I should be calling Pietr and Teacher 'little' as well!"

"Ahem! Okay, let's have Wynn rest." Agrithos interjected, "And don't even think about calling ME 'little', my dear student."

Everybody in the room laughed, and left to let Wynn recover in peace.

'Cavaron...' Wynn thought of him once more before going to sleep.
