Chapter 57: Snob
Back from the dead!
---
It wasn’t that Fang was dressed badly; he had clean, sharp set of clothes that accented his toned body, a contrast to the show of vanity rampant around the party. Tracy’s contempt didn’t escape Blue’s eyes though, who couldn’t help but narrow her eyes at the shallowness of it all.
As the people slowly flowed in, Tracy turned her attention towards Blue – lukewarm words spat out as she attempted to secure ‘him’. Unsurprisingly, this resulted in disgust on the part of Blue, who quickly excused herself to find Fang. Though it clearly looked like Blue was uncomfortable, Tracy passed it off as shyness, and trailed behind Blue, devoting her eyes at that face.
Soon enough, the entire hall was crowded. Some friends, some classmates, some strangers, but they all had a common characteristic: wealth. Among those were several students from the magical academy, clad in fashionable clothes. Clearly, by the amount of preparation that went into their appearance, it wasn’t solely to celebrate at party.
To them, it was an opportunity, one to get closer to the girl that had rejected everyone.
Only minutes passed when they caught a glance of the girl, yet, she wasn’t alone. Jealousy arouse from their hearts as they looked at the scene of Mii and Fang happily talking away.
Her boyfriend is him? A no name didn’t deserve to be next to that blooming flower she was, instead, she deserved to be with someone more outstanding!
A smiling, confident face approached the two figures. “Hello friend, are you Fang?”
“Yes, and you are…?” Fang felt something was off, as he had never seen this person before.
“My name is Kerry of the magic academy, it’s nice to meet you in person.”
Although he was slightly suspicious, Fang returned the greeting. “It’s nice to meet you too, and this is Blue, my roommate.”

His goal wasn’t simply introductions, so Kerry briefly gazed at Blue before turning his attention back.
Even if Kerry didn’t recognize Blue, she recognized him.
The son of the most prominent families in Minuet City; Kerry was infamous for both his talent and his sins. Effort could’ve catapulted his reputation forwards, but he was rumored to have spent the majority of his time on wine and women, trapping him inside mediocrity.
He definitely regarded Mii as his next target, though by the looks of it, it hadn’t gone well.
A false smile continued to brightly shine at Fang. “Why don’t you come and play some games together?”
Right after those words had left his month, Tracy added on, “Fang, you should go and play. After all, the atmosphere should be active for my birthday, right?”
“That…” It wasn’t as if Fang was blind, yet, there wasn’t really much he could do.
He turned towards Mii. “Mii, you can rest for a bit, I’ll be back quickly.”
Seeing that Fang agreed so readily, Blue narrowed her eyes. There wasn’t any friendly intentions from inviting Fang into a game, so, she’ll see for herself how it turns out!
Besides Fang, Blue and Kerry, several of the male students from the magic academy also joined in the game.
The card game was quite popular throughout the country, known for its element of luck due to the supposedly unknown cards in the hands. But when the cards in each hand were known, it was extremely easy to win. And of course, the target of the losses would be Fang.
As the game started, Fang lost the first game. The second game also ended up in a loss, and then the third, the fourth… it all seemed like a coincidence, and as with all games, there were stakes. Since it was a ‘friendly’ game, a drink per loss for the loser was the condition for this one.

Shortly within tens of minutes, Fang had drunk through several bottles of liquor.
With a smile, Kerry apologetically said, “Fang, it seems like your luck is really not good, but it might get better – you’ll keep playing, right?”
Luck?
A cruel smile snuck up on Blue’s face. Their goal was to get Fang drunk and make a fool out of him, though, that would never happen. All wishful thinking, she thought, cringing slightly at the recollection of her very own plan.
For some reason, she couldn’t tolerate the other plotting that was going on. She’d like to see Fang drunk, but it’ll be on her terms, not someone else’s.
Well, as he said, luck can take a turn for the better!
Several round of cards had gone by when the loser ended up being Kerry, rather than Fang. It was slightly bewildering, but he couldn’t see anything wrong.
After all, the difference in ability was too large to bridge out a reason. However, these losses only happened occasionally, so the game progressed forwards.
In the end, Fang had lost the large majority of the games, but the other company ended up drinking more than a several cups themselves. Almost in disbelief, the students refused to accept that the boy in front of them was able to keep his composure with so many drinks.
Countless cards were dealt, until suddenly, a student’s complexion turned strange. He quickly rushed off from the table towards the far sides of the hall when without warning, vomit spewed across a table of sweets.
!
Turbulent anger stormed across Tracy’s face as she screamed at a waiter to clean up the waste as fast as possible.
Covertly, the other students from the magic academy took a look at each other, startled yet glad that it wasn’t them passed out nauseatingly on the floor.
However, if the drinks were to continue, there was no guarantee that they wouldn’t be the next. With those thoughts in mind, the remaining players hastily excused themselves from the game.
Kerry’s face turned ugly; he never expected Fang to have such tolerance for alcohol.

If I can deliver on all that is another question, but I will give it my best. As a further note, I am not using any of the usual strict realms and extreme power differences. It’s more about gathering and refining qi. Whoever uses his chances, sneak attacks, intuitions, and skills in a better way wins. However, having more or better qi will help, but I am not at a point where I have written a lot of that, so I might promise too much. Thanks for reading so far and checking my synopsis out, now you might give the story a try. Have fun. The picture is from JCK5D (Pixabay)
