Chapter 45: Fated
Once the weekend was over, the daily classes continued as usual. In the evenings, Fang and Blue discussed what was taught in the class earlier, and he slowly realized that it wasn’t just to help Blue learn this technique.
From the supreme masters, Fang studied various theories and methods, which gave him these unique insights into Meteor. However, Blue had the skill to refine each step further, detailing the theory into actual energy practice. Due to this, his progress became much faster than he had expected.
As for Blue, though she had no use for this low level skill, it was an interesting exercise in interpretation. Many of the aspects that Fang pointed out were things she had never thought of before, and her narrow vision of what energy should be greatly increased as she spent the days absorbed.
Both sides made up for each other’s weakness by displaying their strengths to fill in – time quickly passed like this, and several weeks flew by.
--- --- ---
It was a Monday morning when the teacher suddenly came up to the front of the class on the podium. “Today, there’s something that this class must decide on. The chamber of commerce, sponsored by some businesses from the city is hosting a competition next week in this college. Each class will send a representative, and the winner of each match will receive a hefty scholarship. Unlike the intention of many tournaments, this one is to promote friendly rivalry between the classes and nothing more. So, the results, victory or defeat will not matter. Keeping that in mind, you’ll be electing a representative today to participate.”
Two months!
Fang was shocked, he had been so immersed in constant practice that he forgot about how much time had passed.
Everyone’s vision lined up on Fang as Hershal’s voice trailed off.

Usually in any sort of event that involved the classes pitted against each other, the class prefects would be selected.
The entire class recognized Fang as the strongest, as he defeated a student from class two even with a lower level of power. As well, the help he offered to his fellow classmates brought widely shared admiration from class eight, so naturally, there was no other candidate.
“Fang, you should go to the competition!”
“Yes, you’re the prefect of class eight and can proudly represent us.”
“With your strength, there’s no doubt that you could take off a match from the other classes too!”
Throughout the class, the sentiment was one and the same. Blue lightly poked Fang with her elbow. “Well, prefect, it seems that you’ve just been getting more and more popular!”
Slight embarrassment ran through Fang’s face. “Blue, don’t tease me about it!”
After several minutes of discussion, Hershal waved his hand and the chatter died down. He looked at Fang with a faint smile. “Fang, the class thinks that you’re the best representative for class eight, do you have any objections?”
He should go, no, he needed to go.
For the sake of what he was important to him, Fang decided he wouldn’t shy away from anything.
Therefore, Fang shouted without hesitation. “No, I’ll definitely perform to the best of my abilities!”
--- --- ---
An announcement rang out inside Garden College two days later, and a large crowd rushed towards the main hallway. This event concerned the reputations of all the classes, hence, everyone paid close attention to the single poster on the board.
Alarm coursed through class eight as they struggled through the crowd to read a bracket: class two against class eight.
“I’d never expected that we’d be clashing with class two again!”

“The old saying that enemies often cross each other’s paths is unluckily true; we’ve been at odds with class two ever since that incident with Ray.”
“William, the prefect from class two I heard was extremely strong. Plus, it’s rumored that his father is directly sponsoring the chamber of commerce for this competition!”
Unlike his surprised classmates, Fang had a calm expression.
Valeria really guessed correctly, William and I were arranged in the same bracket!
“Fang!” A piercing voice turned heads towards a figure in front of the board. “It seems like we’re fated to meet after all. But unfortunately, who would’ve thought you doomed yourself so early in your life?”
Fate?
Fang blinked; that was complete nonsense. William’s father was in charge of the businesses sponsoring the chamber of commerce, it wouldn’t be difficult to create a lucky accident where two names were picked together.
To arrogantly declare the result before the match had happened left a bitter taste in class eight. “William, you shouldn’t be so sure, our representative is also very powerful!”
“Remember Ray? Your classmate that proudly strutted himself, and look what happened to him.”
“Though you might be from the top class, we’ll carry ourselves with dignity regardless of victory or defeat – Fang isn’t intimidated at all.”
William smirked. “Really, this is a group of pathetic fellows. Putting me at the same level as Ray? Don’t make me laugh, he’s one of the weakest people in our class, and it was only a fluke. Face the truth, your strongest representative will only suffer a disastrous, miserable defeat.”
The insufferable conceit that William showed caused more anger among the class, but just as they were about to retort, Fang cut in. “Don’t waste your time, you’ll be the one to lose.”
A frown appeared on William; he thought that with his strength, Fang would concede or at least, become timid. However, he didn’t expect the opposite to come true. It didn’t bode very well, and seeing the confidence on Fang’s face worried him a little.
But then he shook his head.
This blind fellow has no chance of winning!

Life in Zora's Domain
An AU about Mipha's and Link's life together post Calamity. I tried to have some fun with this story, taking it in different directions, developing Mipha's and Link's family, making up some adventures, and creating some connections to other Zelda stories. But the main theme is Mipha's and Link's love for each other and building a happy life together. I'm sure I don't always succeed, but I try to keep the story light hearted and generally opt for happy outcomes. The first 2 chapters now incorporate the prequel stories 'His Future is in the Past' and 'Beginning Life in Zora's Domain', so this AU is self-contained in one story. If you've already read the prequels just jump to Chapter 1 - Studying. Cover art where available is by Nurple(twitter dot com/nurpleynurple) and used by permission. Spoiler Warning: This story has spoilers! On the other hand, if you haven't played the game this story won't make sense. This writing is a work of fan fiction using characters and events from the world of The Legend of Zelda TM: Breath of the Wild, which is owned and copyrighted by Nintendo. I do not claim any ownership of the world or its characters. It is a work of my imagination and is for entertainment only. It is not part of the official Nintendo storyline.
