Chapter 41: Wrong Class
This was one of few times Fang saw her face turn so downcast – her relationship with William’s family shouldn’t be simply colleagues, but more. It obviously didn’t appear to be a good one, though since he brought up the topic, he could only continue. “Well, I met William earlier today, and exchanged some words with him; he said to give his father’s regards to you.”
Valeria coldly muttered, “Give his regards? I’m fine without seeing his face again!”
Curious, Fang asked, “What went on between you and William’s father?”
“The current chamber of commerce and their family’s business used to be firm industrial partners. At least, that was when my father got elected as the head of the chamber of commerce!” She put down the food. “But everything changed in the wake of that event!”
The event she referred to could be the one and only event: the raid that led to her family’s death.
“Before it happened, the relationship between our families was very good as my father and William’s father were close friends. They grew up together and became comrades, deeply trusting in each other. Their company was based off of transportation, which fit in with the needs of the chamber of commerce that Valeria’s father was in charge of. Eventually, they became the financial giants in Minuet City. There came up an important, urgent delivery that could catapult their wealth higher; however, it required transport across the Blue Sea. Again, William’s father arranged the carriage for the goods, and although it was through the Blue Sea, my father had trust in him and hastily put together an escort of the strongest he could find.”
She paused for a moment, then continued. “Their team was very powerful, and it looked as though the rewards outweighed the cons. There was some risk by heading into the treacherous area, but the route chosen was known to be relatively safe, just with some reports of some ragtag minor pirates that they could easily deal with. Nevertheless, an accident happened – they met the brutal pirate group that led to their deaths, yet, that pirate group rarely appeared in that area, so I’ve always thought it was strange!”

“You think someone intentionally leaked information and lured the pirates to there? And that person was from William’s family?”
“Yes, I didn’t suspect anything at first, because my father was so friendly with him, but… after that happened, he displayed no remorse or consolation. He went to claim that there was no cooperation between his business and the chamber of commerce; the reputation plummeted and all our old customers left, adding insult to injury. A new branch appeared from his business and competed for the former spot of goods and services – it was then that I discovered the route given to my father was ‘graciously’ plotted by his closest friend. However, he denied it all. Hypocrite, through and through, he only appeared to be my father’s trusted confidante, yet, planned this from the very start to dominate the entire city with his company!”
At this moment, furious hatred rose on Valeria’s face. Her father and brother was killed, but the hypocrite that caused it all was relaxing contently on top of his wealth.
“The company you keep with can be more dangerous than the battlefield, you can’t trust even the best of friends; many ‘true’ friends are willing to turn to money and power for anything.” Sullenly, she stared at him. “Fang, remember what happened to my father, carefully make friends and always be cautious, else you’ll be stabbed in the back!”
Uncomfortably, Fang nodded, “I’ll keep that in mind.”
Regardless of what Valeria said, he thought it was just misfortunate; a single scarring experience had caused her to be so paranoid. Thinking of his friend, he was sure that Blue, although odd, was sincerely his friend.
However, Fang was wrong – his roommate hid a big secret from him as well.
Valeria asked again, “Fang, what else did William say?”

Fang slightly hesitated. “Two months later, he said the chamber of commerce would be sponsoring a competition where a representative from each class would go. He and I are both prefects of our respectively classes, so there’s a chance that we might be opponents in the tournament.”
Instantly, Valeria said, “No, absolutely don’t participate.”
“Why?”
“Although in name, the competition is sponsored by the chamber of commerce, the actual sponsors are from William’s father’s connections, and judging so far, he already knows my relationship with you. He’ll make sure to arrange an opportunity to put you and William in the same bracket.” Valeria tightly grasped Fang’s hand worriedly. “Listen, you might have made a lot of progress now, but you’re no match for William – promise that you won’t try to be brave, there’s no knowing what might happen. There’s no doubt that something will be arranged to either cripple or kill you as an accident, so, throw in the towel and don’t bother with this.”
Family takes after family, William was the same as his father; acting as the perfect student to his class while harboring malicious intents, with nothing standing in his way of ambition.
“I understand.”
Nevertheless, a cold glint flashed in Fang’s eyes.
--- --- ---
After returning back to the college, his plans completely changed.
On the Monday morning after the first class was over, Fang turned to Blue. “Blue, go to the next classes alone, okay?”
Blue frowned. “Why, are you suddenly bored with me?”
“Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely don’t think that,” With difficulty, Fang tried to explain, “I’m going to go and try learning something difficult, but I feel it’ll be a waste of time if you go. So, I’ll go alone and after the classes are over, we’ll meet again.”
Doubtfully, Blue agreed, and Fang rushed into a different hallway.
What’s he doing?
Blue felt there was something up, and curious to what it was, didn’t go towards the next class. Quietly, she quickly followed behind Fang.
Taking multiple twists and turns on the campus, Fang finally arrived at a certain place. This wasn’t a class that Blue had seen before, Fang never visited this class as far as she knew.
But the most eerie thing was, even past the starting time for classes, there was no one inside the classroom, not even a single student!
A quiet teacher sat leisurely inside beside the podium. Of all the teachers in Garden College, he had taught the least. Most of his classes consisted of a lazy nap, as no one ever was present inside the classroom, and left after his delegated class was over.
Well, the teacher thought, it seems that today would be full of dreams again.
Just then, he heard the sound of footsteps, and a person walked into the classroom.
He looked like an inconspicuous teenager.
Frowning, the teacher looked at him closely. “Student, are you sure you didn’t come into the wrong class?”
“No, teacher, this is the right class,” Fang moved into the room. “If it’s fine with you, I’d like to learn Meteor.”

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14

The Wild Touch
The world of Delmathar has many conflicts and plots that span over the whole world and even into the war torn oceans. That’s not even taking into account that the world is a candidate in the Realm wars… but that’s a story for another day. Instead we will follow the story of how a goddess’s botched attempt of using a weak earth soul to make powerful Grafter for her mother, ends up empowering an unsuspecting little boy. The boy who is called Nosal Brownwhisker, who happens to be a peaceful little buttonless-shirt loving little Capyban. And as the Brownwhisker family tries to juggle their everyday lives on their monster ranch and hiding little Nosal’s secret, more and more developments keep popping up in the village of Pancreedy that makes life more.. interesting. Author’s notes:This is my first fiction and I understand it will suck. Hopefully you will find it to be enjoyable enough to hang around. There’s not going to be any epic world-ending fights or any stuff like that, just some shenanigans generally with the story progressing very slowly as it changes from many viewpoints. The world of Delmathar may seem funky for now so I will promise a glossary every 15 chapters. The wild touch will be updated at least twice a week, with me having no backlog of chapters. So if I get mobbed at work or get sick I will let you know in my notes on a short chapter. I hope you enjoy, and thank you for the people who support me, give me encouragement and pointers.
