《The New Start By Sudar》Chapter 2 Strange Dreams

Proof Read By DemonWing
The next morning I woke up and started planning what to do. So far I have a pretty good idea where I am but I still don’t know most of what is going on, so I am thinking of studying to increase my knowledge. The question is: will I be able to go back to the room with the books? Sure one, or four, times I’ll get there but I need to stand up on because it is impossible to crawl over.
As I was thinking Mother woke up, dressed, and was ready to go. She picked me up and did what she always does: feed me, wash me, and so on. I feel like I’ve been crippled all over again. Well, let’s forget about it.
As the day passed I didn’t get the chance to go into the other room so there wasn’t much for me to do other then to observe my surroundings. Another thing is that all letters move around and translate into English for me. I noticed this when I saw a piece of paper on the table this morning. Just like with the books the letters started moving and changing. It is strange. Mother doesn’t seem to notice the words changing. She must not be able to see it. I will hang onto this bit of information for later.
And so two months passed by. During that time I managed to get into the workroom 16 times. I read all the books from the first to the fourth shelf. I couldn’t get any higher up so I decided to look at the other rooms.
And another thing is that the books are mostly all magic related. Ranging from beginner magic to master level. I am still in the intermediate level of reading and I don’t have any practice yet but I will eventually.
The books contained stories of ancient times. I didn’t understand some of the books at first but soon realized the books also contained information about monsters. Yeah, monsters, at first I thought it was just a storybook but then it turned out it was an encyclopedia of all monsters discovered so far. There were a lot of monsters I knew from games in my previous life and many that I didn’t know about, but that’s for later.
Out of the entire house I have only been in the dining room, living room, workroom, bedroom, bathroom, alchemy room, guest room and research room. There are still two rooms I haven’t been in yet: the basement and the room at the end of the hall. The mysterious room at the end of the hall always seems to be locked and I am very curious of what might be inside. I figured the basement is probably just used as storage, assuming this house has a lot of stuff.

Well, first off the alchemy room. The first time I went inside my mother had been in a hurry and picked me up along the way. When I entered the room I could see more bookshelves. I couldn’t help but think to myself.
-How many damn books does this house have?
After a while Mother calmed down and was working around a pot slightly bigger and rounder than average. A little flame was burning under the pot. When I looked closely I couldn’t see what the flame was using to burn. The flame looked like it was floating. I only realized that the room was used for alchemy after she put weird items in the pot. Some of the items she pulled out were a strange liquid, some random leaves, flesh, and so on. At first I thought that she was going to make me her guinea pig for a new type of food and I panicked a little.
I’m not going to lie I was little excited for when I could learn alchemy but I knew I would have to wait until I was older.
The next room was the research room. After about two months I had attempted to walk multiple times. In the end, I finally managed to walk but because Mother always seemed worried and would watch me so I refrained from walking. When we are together she always plays with me it’s quite creepy.
Anyway, when I first discovered the research room I was also with Mother. In there she tinkers with all kinds of things. I saw a lot of blueprints and papers spread everywhere. There were even some creations with wooden and stone parts. I also noticed there was a bunch of stones glowing with different colors. When I saw those stones I was fairly certain that they were filled with magic.
My magic knowledge continued to progress quickly. I would often read the books in the workroom and discovered that most of the books were books about how magic works and what it is for, in short it was simply more just magic related books.
After some reading I discovered what magic was. It was something like a power that can’t be seen by the naked eye. In order to use magic we need mana. Mana is basically everything that has life, or in short something that has a soul can produce mana. I also figured out that mana is everywhere even floating in the air, its sounds really confusing if you ask me.

Magic stones are objects that can store mana like a battery. They can be used and recharged with your own mana. The stones can also recharge itself. I think that is how it works, but I still couldn’t completely understand so I decided I would figure it out later.
As I had been saying before the research room has a lot of interesting stuff. Lately Mother sighs frequently and it seems like she is stuck on a mechanism for a machine she is building.
When I looked at the blueprint for it I realized what she was working on. It was an oven, or in this world would it be a magic-powered oven?
Because I had a wide understanding of mechanics and magic, I secretly (when she fell asleep) drew the blueprints for it. Magic is like electricity and it was quite easy. I had to know how an oven worked in my previous life so it was not a big of a deal. Charlie always got mad when his oven stopped working so I had obtained a little info about it.
When mother woke up she looked at the blueprint and screamed out of joy. Even though she was so happy she seemed to suspect me, but it wouldn’t be helped.
-Hey look Damon I made the oven! Now I can smelt ore with it. Yeah I am a genius, hahahaha!
Well, she looks happy, I don’t need to tell her that I think.
And so another month passed by and I read the books in the alchemy room and in the research room. I gathered quite a lot of knowledge in alchemy and discovered out that the dwarves are the best artisans and craftsmen. That wasn’t anything I hadn’t known previously but what really caught my interest in the research was a record of a tinker who created an automaton wolf. I don’t know how he managed to make it, but it sounded cool. Even though I had already seen robots from my previous life in this world it was very rare.
And so another day passed and I fell asleep. In my sleep I could hear a voice ringing inside my ear it said:
-Hello young lad how are you?
I was confused for the sudden question so I answered.
-I am okay.
Strangely I didn’t any problem speaking, probably because this is inside of a dream.
-Good, all should be good.
-What do you mean?
-I mean nothing.
-So why are you here is this a nightmare?
-No young lad it is not, but at the same time it is.
- You are confusing me.
-Hmm, yes, I shall explain.
-Well you owe me that at least.
-You have to choose young lad.
-Choose what?
-Choose what you desire.
-Come on you give me options of what to choose how so how should I know?
-Oh yes young lad, choose between fate or destiny.
-Still no clue what your talking about here.
-The path opens to those–
In the middle of his speech I interrupt.
-Screw this I am out off here.
The moment I say that I try to pinch my arm. It’s the best way to wake up. But then the voice starts panicking.
-Wait! No, I am sorry boy, I was just joking, do you not understand the joke?
-That wasn’t even funny.
-If you have a better joke then tell me.
-Sure
I couldn’t understand why he was here or why I was talking to him, but whatever.
-Okay I’ll start. Have you seen the clown near the shop in the village that hides from gay people?
-Yes.
-Well I failed, nothing to be ashamed about.
-Was that your joke? Even though Harold doesn’t like gay people you shouldn’t just make fun of him.
-What…?
-I had enough I am leaving.
-Wait!
-What now?
-You still need to choose.
-What the hell are you talking about?
-Choose between what is more important to you: fate or destiny.
-Destiny!!!
-Wait you, ohhhh… Whatever I give up.
After he said that light began to shine from all my surroundings. My body felt like it was getting burned all over, and then I woke up.
-What was that? How strange.
I heard myself talking and was astonished.
-What!?
-My hand is bigger my legs and body are bigger…
I couldn’t understand what was going on, first was the dream, and now this strange body. I was stuck in my fenced bed and when I finally got myself free I looked into the mirror and saw that I had the appearance of a 7 year old kid.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

RETURN, A Dark Lord story.
Return, Synopsis In the Triangulum Galaxy, one of a number of galaxies controlled by the Empire of The DARK LORD, JENNA OF CHRISTOS finds herself on the run after she killed a patrolman. Becoming pilot on a pirate craft, several years later she and other pirates are devastated by attacks of the Imperial Legion and are now trying to regroup. Seeking funds that will help them hide out for a time, their leader THURGOD DRISTA and JENNA meet with a PROFESSOR of galactic history who gives them information, a map and an ancient artifact described as a singing stone. He tells them that this could lead them safely to a legendary treasure trove, called THE DARK LORDS HOARD, on the forbidden planet TRILLA. The hoard is supposed to belong to the ruler of the empire who vanished close to one thousand years before and is presumed to be gone. The treasure is believed to be hidden in a tunnel accessible from the planet surface but no one who has gone into the tunnel has ever come out alive or sane. Leaving the pirate hideout immediately after the meeting and avoiding a major attack by the legion, the pirates travel to the galactic rim for supplies and to leave a false trail. With them they take the PROFESSOR and ILISA, a serving girl. However CAPTAIN TRASKA the commander of a Legions task force called Detachment T, has guessed the pirates intentions and tracked them to the rim. The pirates leave on their next leg to TRILLA unaware that CAPTAIN TRASKA with his force of heavy cruisers, is already there and lying in wait for them. Allowing the pirates to land, including an unexpected second pirate ship, CAPTAIN TRASKA sends a force of troopers to capture both craft and their guards. Before they can do this, THURGOD, the PROFESSOR and others, numbering thirteen altogether and led by JENNA entered the tunnel complex. JENNA, warned by ILISA that she must be the one to hold the singing stone, carries it in the hope that it will guide her and her companions past the many dangers in the tunnel. Shortly afterward, VIS VISTRICER the Legions overall commander travels to Trilla in an armoured planetoid, a spacecraft as large as a moon. On his arrival at TRILLA, VIS VISTRICER meets with CAPTAIN TRASKA but before they can do much, they are both surprised by one of the LADIES OF THE CIRCLE who is waiting for the outcome of what is happening in the tunnels. In the tunnels, JENNA leads THURGOD and the rest of party through many dangers and tests. Four are killed in the tunnels but the rest finally come to their goal where, to their surprise, in a cavern they meet the DARK LORD who is alive and very well. He has been waiting for them so he can return to the Empire. JENNA finds out that the patrol officer is alive and that she and many others have been manipulated all this time by the DARK LORD. She also finds out that ILISA, whose real name is JURA, is a member of the CIRCLE OF LADIES and was sent to teach JENNA many years before on her home planet of Christos. The DARK LORD restores and fulfills a promise to release JURA from her service as a LADY. He next has each pirate declare their own fate and takes them to the surfaces of TRILLA. There, at their election, he executes two of the pirates while JENNA is pardoned and some have the death penalty reprieved. The rest will face the courts of the Legion. VIS VISTRICER is raised to the rank of STAR COMMANDER, the highest rank in the Legion while TRASKA becomes a COMMODORE. The DARK LORD returns to Tihab, the administrative centre of the empire. There he takes up his residence in a surprised and disconcerted imperial palace. JENNA is returned by COMMODORE TRASKA to the planet Christos where she is welcomed by the planets rulers and her family, some of whom were aware of some of what was happening.
