《DIVE》Dive 34: How to Beat a Slaver

I've been thinking about changing the POV to permanently be from Voice. What do you guys think? The story is obviously focused on him, but it would be more like he was telling the story. I've realized i can make a lot more character depth that way. Or would it be to difficult to change the way you read it? If you guys want, i can also just try it out for a chapter.
Short summary of the last chapter:
Spoiler :
Voice escaped the sewer. He killed several slavers, and earned a new class. He also learned a bit about manipulating the mana that permeated Solun.
Also, let me know if anything is wrong with the chapter! Be sure to comment!
Voice cloaked himself with the shadows. Since the sentry couldn’t see him, he had ample time to act. He plotted out a path that connected to the man, the path he chose had shadows connecting all the way to the man.
Once Voice was confident of his cloak and path, he started to slowly move forward. His mana was draining at a slow but steady rate. The dark mana cloak only cost about 10 mana per second, but he was also using his shoes of air.
His biggest concern was making noise, so he thought to fix that. When he used the shoes in the realm of Mirror, they hadn’t produced any sound. He had realized he could use this while he practiced with his darkness mana. Even if he was guiding the darkness mana around himself, he could still use them.
He assumed that the shoes worked on a different principle than manipulating mana. After all, no matter how good I become at wind magic, they always take the same amount of mana.
Voice stealthily moved toward the sentinel. When he was close enough he deactivated his shoes, and directed a bit of darkness mana to climb up the man. That’s right, Voice had figured out to indecently control two flows of darkness mana. It had its limits though. He could only manipulate a certain amount per second, if he tried to do more it was taken from one of his other ‘spells’.
He also could only do two things at once. Any more and all of the things he was trying to do would fail. Although he felt like he could improve on this, if he trained his concentration.
He sent the tendril of darkness up the man’s leg. It was slow moving, so it wouldn’t be conspicuous to the other slaver guards. It finally reached the man’s eyes. The man started fumbling, trying to tear off the obstruction. While flailing about, he fell off his rock.
Voice sprang into action. As soon as the man fell to the ground, Voice collected water mana in the air. He had let the darkness magic release. The air, the ground, even the slaver, were all covered in thin lines of water mana. We are in the middle of a river after all.
Water slowly circle the slaver’s head. The slaver stood up, unsuspecting of the water coalescing around the back of his head. Well, he has at least some training.
The man reached for something inside of his jacket. Fuck. That’s not good. Voice expected some sort of tool to let the others know there was a problem. Voice sped the water collection up. He ended up pouring half of his mana into it in an instant.
Suddenly all of the water mana in a five foot area of the slaver disappeared, only to surround the slaver’s entire head. The slave, caught off guard, released a gasp.

Bad move, buddy. Voice watched patiently as the slaver tried to free himself of the water ball. He thrashed around for several seconds. The two skeletons stealthily went to the man. As soon as they got there, they held the man down.
Feeling the pressure around him, he thrashed more wildly. Should have stayed calm, you can slow your breathing that way. 5th weakness: Can’t think calmly under pressure.
Voice had a nice little amount of weaknesses recorded. Honestly he had expected this to be a bit harder, what with it being a goddess given quest and all. Voice shrugged. He did enjoy seeing the slaver thrash around in hopes of escaping. After the man had laid still for several seconds, the group left.
Voice had a conversation with Kretchof as he revived him. He took away the undead’s ability to lie to him first off. Kretchof could instinctively feel the dark mana in the world, and could even harness some of it. Without any training, he was capable of casting dark magic up to Adept level. Kretchof could only tell Voice about a few superficial things, since the slavers were not told why to do something. They were only told what to do.
He could use ‘Raise Fresh Corpse’. That was the main reason Voice chose to do what he did. ‘Raise Fresh Corpse’ was a spell that automatically activated when the user killed any living creature. It would automatically force the corpse to bend to the will of the user, as long as the level of the target didn’t exceed the level of the caster plus 3. The corpse started to decay immediately though, especially during the day. The corpse could only last until it was touched by the sun or for 24 hours, whichever came first. The spell took a permanent 10 mana per level of summoned creature.
Voice really wanted that spell. He had been a little sad when he realized he couldn’t ever use it. Since he would have to concentrate on it to activate it, and there was no way to use a spell automatically if you had to concentrate. Still, he was going to try to find something similar later. When Voice was done setting the limits of Kretchof he got a notice.
For declaring full ownership of: Minor Lich Kretchof, Kretchof will benefit from your darkness affinity. Minor Lich Kretchof’s mana is set at ([player mana] * [Darkness Affinity]). Mana set to: 1150.

Voice left when he noted that the man suffered from Apnea. Apnea is when someone stops breathing for a few seconds. It often happened when people were drowning. After making sure the slaver wouldn’t wake up, the group went to the next target.
After about thirty seconds Kretchof came and finished the job. He ordered the corpse to follow its normal routine until called upon.
Voice’s grouped the next two watchmen. The reason being that if they did, the people watching the next sentinel wouldn’t have seen what they had done. The next woman was looking straight out at the sea, although she could still see two other people.
Voice didn’t even conceal the group while they walked this way. The sentinel in charge of watching this area had been taken care of already by Voice.
The woman was again standing on a small tower made of stone. Voice pushed her off of the tower with a large gust of wind. When she fell to the ground Voice covered her head in a water orb. She flailed around just like the guy before.

Too easy. Voice was getting a little over confident. Hold on. Don’t get too cocky. Pride comes before the fall and all that.
After another few minutes the lady was down. Unfortunately for the group, this was going to be the last ‘easy kill’ of the island. All of the other sentinels watched each other in too complex of a web. Voice left the girl to Kretchof.
Then next step of the plan was much harder. After hiding for a while, they needed to follow the path to the River-Gate.
The River-Gate was a place that allowed for boats docking. It ran under the city, like the sewer system, but was housed on the inside of a giant cave. The cave allowed for even galleons to dock. The gate could be lifted or lowered by a simple lever on the inside. The gate had a small stone pathway on each side of the tunnel.
The reason they killed those two specific guards, was that the second person had the only line of sight to the River-Gate from the angle they would be attempting to get in through. The first had a job to do in step 3.
Voice covered the entire group in a shadow wall. It was intended to just disrupt the view of the only guard that could see them for a few seconds. After that they would be in the area only the lady they killed could see.
The group made it to the river gate unaccosted. Voice looked inside the gate. Two guards stood watch. They were standing beside a door, which was right next to the lever.
Shit! Elvina said there’d only be one! Ugh. Can’t trust anyone nowadays. Voice knew it wasn’t her fault the slaver put extra personnel here, but even one mistake could lead to the failing the quest. Voice really wanted to succeed.
Voice focused on the metal mana in the air. The gate itself made it hard to look past it, but Voice persevered. He was trying to flip the lever from his position, about thirty feet away. He finally managed to pick the presence up, but could not manipulate it. Even after expending all of his mana.
The group waited for Voice’s mana to regenerate. There were two more options at this point. First Voice was going to try to bend the metal of the gate itself. This would make a lot less sound, but he would eventually need to fix it. If he left it bent it could cost the city its security. The third option was to destroy one of the skeletons, but throw the last bone inside the gate.
That would be a dead giveaway to the people watching, that something was happening. Voice concentrated on the mana in the gate. Elvina said it had been enchanted to be resistant to magic, she wasn’t lying. The mana in the gate seemed to constantly repulse any mana he sent towards it. He could send mana past it, but not target it.
After several fruitless minutes Voice had to come up with some other idea. He really didn’t want the skeleton to reform in front of two people. Voice tried to heat the bars up, but to no avail.
Voice shrugged. He nodded to Elvina. Elvina took one of the bones from one of the skeletons. Voice decided to try out some new sort of magic. He created a cube around the skeleton that was missing a bone. After the cube was created, he forced the walls to shrink.
The walls became smaller, and thicker, every instant. After only a few seconds of shrinking, the skeleton inside was crushed into bone meal.
Elvina pushed the bone through the gate, at the same time that Voice pushed the bone meal into his pocket. Alchemy ingredient? Guess I’ll find out.
As Voice pocketed the bone dust, it began to disappear. Awww.
The bone dust began to pour onto the ground. As soon as a piece of dust hit the ground, it would start moving towards the whole bone. The dust began to fly around the bone, and to form more bones. One of the guards noticed it and pulled out a whistle. He blew the whistle as soon as it touched his lips.
The guard that didn’t blow the whistle, ran into the door they were guarding. Hurry Skele! Voice urged his skeleton to quicken its regeneration pace. Voice sent the ok to Kretchof. He heard another whistle from far away. It was the first guard Kretchof killed. His job was causing an uproar to provide cover for Voice and co.
The slaver that blew the whistle saw the bone being formed by the surrounding white dust. He drew his short sword, and attacked. He slashed at the dust repeatedly, only to have the dust reform a moment later. Seeing this tactic fail, he went for the bones themselves.
As he slashed the bones, they came back together. He couldn’t keep up with the speed of regeneration. As the slaver attacked, Voice forced a massive amount of water mana to circle the man’s head. The man moved realizing some magic was being cast at him.
Voice had to move all of the water mana towards the man. Since the man kept moving away from it, Voice was having trouble. It took a long time to move the slow water mana. Luckily Voice didn’t have to wait long. The man tripped as he saw the small water ball following from behind.
The skeleton had finished regenerating, and went to the lever. The slaver jumped towards it, he knew that if the skeleton opened the gate that something bad would happen. Even if he didn’t see Voice and his crew outside.
Voice heard a multitude of whistles go off at once. Voice didn’t know if that was Kretchof’s distraction or not, but he decided they had to hurry. The slaver blanched for just a second as he heard the whistles blow. That was all the time the skeleton needed to pull the lever.
The slaver rushed to the lever, trying to close it before anyone got through. The skeleton blocked his way. Voice dispelled his water ball, and dashed towards the slaver with daggers drawn.
Voice’s other skeleton did the same, while Elvina went to shut the gate. With the small distraction Voice provided, his two skeletons decimated the man. They didn’t pay attention to any injury they incurred. Skele A was to the right of the slaver, Skele B to the left. The slaver slashed at Skele A with his dagger in his right hand. Skele B grabbed his hand before the knife connected. The slaver pushed Skele B, Skele A grabbed that arm before the hand connected. The slaver had both of his hands pulled on the opposite side of his body.
The slaver went to kick Skele A, but Skele A jumped and wrapped its legs around the slaver’s waist. Seeing the fun, Skele B jumped. It twisted its body to wrap its legs around the slavers neck, with its head pointed to the ground. The slaver feinted after only a few seconds of no air. Voice watched the entire thing with amusement. He went over and slashed the slavers throat for good measure.
Ancestor spoke to Voice. “Your inspect skill says you can hear three guards running this way.” Thanks, I didn’t know you could actively see my skills though. Ancestor mentally shrugged.
Voice took the advanced notice, and used it to his advantage. Focusing on the earth mana on the stone floor, he created a small ramp from the door to the water. After he was done he had barely enough time to make a little water go up it from the river.
Three burly men ran through the door with swords drawn. Three burly men slipped on the unexpected wet ramp in front of the door. Three burly men were pushed by Voice’s wind mana into the water. Three burly men were thrashing as two skeletons dragged them to the bottom of the river. Three burly men died a pitiful death by drowning.
Voice raised the ramp back up as they waited for his skeletons. The skeletons climbed out of the river. It was almost like watching the dead rise from their graves. The crew went through the door, and into the city proper.
Voice really wished he had his staff, but nothing could be done about that at this point. When they exited the small hallway, they noticed a fight in the streets. Two slavers were slashing at each other with short swords. Voice saw that the two were under the effects of ‘minor compulsion’. It didn’t matter though, as long as he got his revenge it was ok.
Voice wished he could start a fire to incite mayhem, but all of the thatched roofing had already been burned away. Elvina was out of breath again, so the group had to wait. Voice ordered the two skeletons to go on a killing spree, but only kill slavers. If they had eyes, Voice was sure they would be gleaming.
After Elvina had rested a while, Voice reminded her of the next part of the plan. “Alright. I’m going to call Kretchof over. When he gets here, we are going to make a dash for the castle. I’m going to have Kretchof raise as many undead as he can during the dash.” Elvina nodded. She hated the idea of dark magic being used in her city, but she rationalized it well. If it’s only slavers that we will kill anyway, it doesn’t matter. Right? Elvina was very conflicted, but she still had no hope of victory without Voice’s help.
After Elvina had caught her breath, they continued forward. Voice saw his two skeletons nearby. They each had a short sword, and were fighting one opponent together. Seeing them contort while remaining in a perfect position to attack astonished Voice. They could be Olympic gymnasts or something! Voice made a mental note to have at least several skeleton guards around his city. Of course he could only do that without Mar’s knowledge, so they couldn’t be too close.
He would probably station them in a nearby forest. The best situation would be if I could build a city in a small clearing in a forest.
Instead of making a dash to the castle, Voice and Elvina had to stick to the shadows. Elvina was in no shape to run for any length to time. Voice cloaked her, and himself, in shadows. They went as quickly as Elvina could stand. Voice even had to carry her a few times.
They arrived at the castle in only an hour’s time of sneaking.
The city was in turmoil. While they were sneaking to the castle. Voice was happy to see it. Slavers were killing each other left and right. Some slaves were occasionally caught up in the fighting, but for the most part, they didn’t interfere. Most slaves didn’t have enough will power to fight anymore.
Sometimes when a slaver was killed, the body would explode in a green/black mana explosion. Anything touched by the explosion would start losing health. Poisonous Corpse Explosion!? I have GOT to learn that! Voice made a mental note to force Kretchof to teach him all of his dark magic.
When the corpse didn’t explode, Kretchof would some come up to it. He would cast some resurrect spell, and the body would go do his bidding. When Voice got close enough to the castle he sent a message out to all of his undead.
“Gather at the castle! Kill anyone in the way, but GATHER AT THE CASTLE!”
The undead, after finishing off any enemy they were fighting, started walking slowly to the castle. Some of the more decayed ones shambled. This wasn’t a powerful force, and didn’t have enough numbers to really take on anything big, but they were good for a distraction.
By the time Voice had made it to the castle, many undead were already gathered. They were banging on the wooden door, demanding entrance. The slaves saw this travesty, but were to scared to do anything other than hide in their homes. Good thing too, the undead had orders to kill anything in their path. The undead were attacking the door, while Kretchof casted his withering magic on it. Since it was made mostly of wood it could be made to wither after enough time.
Voice made steps to the top floor of the castle. He was standing right beside the wall, so didn’t hide himself. They would be looking too closely at this point anyway.
He forced part of the castle to come out, forming a small step. It was just big enough to hold one person. Every time he made a step, he would step on it and make the next. He heard the wooden castle gate break apart under the onslaught of the undead. The castle shook slightly. It almost shook enough to throw Voice off, but he casted wind to push him against the wall. Luckily Elvina managed to save herself from falling off.
Voice had to stop once to regain his mana. During his break he got a message from Kretchof. “Master, we are being decimated, what do I do? At this rate we won’t be able to stall them for very long.”
“Make the undead with the lowest level sacrifice themselves with the poisonous corpse explosion, while the rest fall back. Heal up, and raise the undead I’ll prepare for you.”
Voice sent a message to his two skeletons. “Gather the bodies of slavers for Kretchof to use. After that kill any slavers in the city that is still alive, and bring back those bodies. I want a steady flow for him to resurrect.”
Voice continued up the castle. If anyone looked at the side of the castle, they would see a direct line of stone steps that led to the third floor from the ground. The head slaver is most likely sleeping in Elvina’s old room, since it’s the most ‘luxurious’ one in town. It took Voice half an hour to actually make enough steps to ascend to the third floor.
When they finally got to the room, Voice noticed the glass window was locked from the inside. He shook his head as he coated his hand in a small amount of iron. He punched the window, and cleared out enough of it to squeeze through. He released the fist, and healed himself from glass cuts after getting in the room.
He healed Elvina when he saw the cuts on her. His Sense Mana Crystal, part of inspect was triggered. He could see that three rooms down, was a large amount of Mana Crystals.
“I think he might be in the room three rooms to our left.” Elvina shook her head.
“My room was two to our right, and across the hall.”
“Well I just have a feeling we need to check that room out. Are you coming or not?” Voice knew he was being more pushy than he needed, but this whole thing had drained him of any patience. He had already spent more than a day as a slave to these damn slavers.
Voice went up to the door, and listened for footsteps and breathing. Several people were running towards where the stairs to the throne room were. He continued listening. He heard shallow breathing from the right side of the door. The door opened left, so someone wanted to get a backstab in.
Voice concentrated. He used his own mana to form an earth orb around the attackers. He forced a small hole, and sent all of the water mana he could into it. After he was out of mana he stopped. He made sure he had just enough to close the hole.
He waited forty seconds, the amount of time until his mana fully regenerated while he meditated. While meditating he absorbed some water mana in the air. He noticed the air started to get dryer, and slightly harder to breathe in. He purified what water mana he could, in the forty seconds he had.
After regenerating all of his mana they left. They opened the door to a stone hallway. Several wooden doors lined both sides. They went to the room Voice had indicated. Voice listened at the door. He didn’t hear anything inside, so he entered. He went to a bookshelf that his inspect indicated.
He knocked the bookshelf over. A crude safe was behind it. He opened it by forcing the iron lock into the ‘opened’ position. Voice was glad he had the time he needed. Although he was getting better, it still took two entire minutes just to force the lock open.
Inside was a plethora of Mana Crystals. Voice smiled as he pocketed them all. Elvina was about to speak, the Mana Crystals could benefit this city far more than one man, but she kept silent. If he wanted loot, he was entitled to it. After all, she hadn’t even wanted to come into this room, and he didn’t need to save her in the first place.
After taking the crystals Voice received a notice.
You have obtained an entire vein of Mana Crystal. Gnome looks upon you with pride. You gain 5 Earth Affinity.
Voice watched as the Mana Crystals in his inventory floated in front of him. They began twirling around each other. They began to spin on their axis. When the spinning and twirling made the crystals move at an insane speed, the crystals crashed into each other. A small blast of earth mana escaped the blast.
You have obtained Completed Mana Crystal.
Completed Mana Binding Mana CrystalThis crystal absorbs any mana in the form of spells in a ten foot orb around it.
Hidden Attribute: Mana Absorption
If you consume this Mana Crystal you will absorb 50% of all hostile mana directed at you, including mana not structured in a spell. You must be blessed by Gnome to see this attribute. You must use Gnome’s blessing to consume this Crystal. You are cursed. You cannot currently use Gnome’s blessing.
Voice put the crystal into his inventory. As soon as he finished this island off, he was going to get that extra Earth Affinity.
Voice and Elvina went to the Evan’s room. Voice undid the earth orb, and collected a small amount of loot from the slaver.
You have fully dissected Humans. You will deal double damage when against Human opponents.
Voice told Kretchof to put as much heat on the slavers as possible, even if it meant losing his entire undead force. Voice also told the skeleton twins to rush to Kretchof’s aid.
When Voice and Elvina walked into her room Evan wasn’t there. What was there, were four semi-attractive looking slave women, ranging from 15 to about 25 years old. They were underfed, and had no souls in their eyes, but at least they were alive. They were completely nude, and each had a metal collar on their necks. The collars were each attached to one of the four bedposts. They bedposts went up several yards. Voice got close to the four. They invited him into the bed, by opening their arms.
Voice’s anger flared again. Rapist SWINE! Voice cracked the iron on the collars, allowing the slave girls to run free. They didn’t seem to understand that they could run away. Voice’s face contorted with rage. The four girls shrank back. Voice stalked through the door. Instead of opening the door, he blasted it with the full force of his mana in the form of wind. He yelled at Elvina, “GET ME AS MUCH FLOUR AS YOU CAN! BRING IT TO THE THRONE ROOM!”
Voice tried to calm himself as he walked, but to no avail. He was pissed, and now Evan was going to suffer even more for it. Voice ran, he ran down two flights of stairs, and saw Evan sitting on the throne. Voice stopped himself from attacking. Voice was hidden in the corner of the throne room. The throne room was about fifty feet by thirty feet. It had pillars that lined the edges, and had a moderately high ceiling.
This isn’t going to be like last time, where someone stops me. Voice concentrated on the mana in the room. He had an idea, if it worked it would be gratifying.
There was only tiny flares of fire mana, quickly overcome by the massive amount of water mana. Voice concentrated on the water. Earlier when he moved all of the water mana into on area, all of the moisture in the air went with it. He was going to do the same thing here. He told the undead ‘army’ to move in as far as possible.
The fighting between the slavers, and the undead, was intense. Many undead died by the ninja, but they took just as many of the normal slaver warriors with them. Whenever a slaver warrior died, it was instantly resurrected by dark magic. The undead filled the hall by about 20%. It seemed as if every dead slaver in the city was fighting. There were at least a hundred undead attacking the slavers. The slavers only had about thirty left, but half of those were the ninja.
The water mana in the room slowly drifted to Voice’s location. First the center of the room dried, then a wider portion. The dry are kept increasing, but it increased slowly. He didn’t even pay attention enough to be surprised by the fact that his mana manipulation stretched much further than it had before.
Voice cleared the room out of water mana in about half an hour. All of the slavers in the castle seemed to already be fighting the undead. Evan just watched, as if it were entertainment. None of the slavers were even patrolling the castle anymore. The only reason they had taken the city in the first place, was sheer numbers, and surprise. It damn sure wasn’t the planning!
After clearing all of the water out of the room, the slavers started faltering. It had become harder for them to breathe, and their energy seemed to deplete more quickly. Even the ninja people started to kill less quickly. When Voice had finished clearing out the water mana he looked at the fighting. Almost all of the slavers were dead, they only had one fighter and six ninja left. About half of the undead was left. Thank Davros for resurrecting the dead! The main benefit of necromancy was, the more you kill the more battle potential you have.
After Voice regenerated his mana, he started injecting fire mana into the room. He imagined the unused, unfiltered, mana leaving his body. He kept that up until his mana was empty.
The increased heat of the room, slowed the slaver ninja even more. They only had two ninja left, the one fighter was still there as well. Voice made sure to increase the heat to an unbearable amount. The undead would only rot a little faster, but the slavers would be extremely tired out by fighting in a strange environment. Evan started looking around when he noticed the heat rising. He didn’t leave the chair though.
After Voice had filled the air with fire mana three times, Elvina finally showed up. She was huffing, and as soon as she handed him the two sacks of flour, she fell on the floor. Each sack looked to hold at least twenty pounds of flour a piece. The room wasn’t completely filled, only about ten percent, but even that was enough to make Voice and Evan start sweating.
Voice took the bags from her after letting his mana regen again. Evan had gotten off the throne, and was walking over to where Voice was. When Voice’s mana reached about half it looked like Evan saw him.
Voice stepped out of the shadows, holding the two large sacks of flour on his shoulders. “Hello, Evan. Miss me?” Evan looked confused.
“Who the hell are you!? You’re not one of my men!” Voice had forgotten he was still disguised. He toggled it off. Evan blanched.
“How the hell did you get out!?” He drew his sword and slowly walked to Voice.
“Well,” Voice threw a sack at him, using wind mana to accelerate it. He easily sliced it in half, covering himself in flour. The flour puffed into the air, as it slowly floated around. “I broke your little cuffs.” Voice showed him his wrists. Evan stopped walking. He gaped at Voice’s bare wrists.
“HOW!?” Voice threw the other bag when Evan asked that. Evan again cut the bag with ease. The fine powder mixed with the earlier flour. Voice sent a small gust of wind to even the powder out.
“Simple. I… am… better… than… yooooou!” With that, Voice cast the biggest fire ball he could. As soon as the fire was as big as his head, he threw it at Evan.
Bit of science here. Flour, and many other forms of fine powder, are extremely volatile when in the air.
Evan smirked as he dodged the clumsily thrown ball of flame. It almost seemed like Voice didn’t want to hit h-, Evan looked back. It was already too late. The fire from Voice’s fire orb had met the fine flour powder in the air. With the air being so warm, and dry, it instantly created a huge explosion.
The orb of flame hit the flour. One could seen a thin fiery shockwave appear from where the fireball met the flour. In less than a second the shockwave had encompassed all of the flour. As soon as the shockwave met air with no flour, it exploded.
Evan was facing the explosion. Voice casted an earth orb as soon as he let go of the fire ball. His mana was gone, but they would be slightly safer from the fire.
The explosion filled the entire room. If Voice’s ears hadn’t been deafened by the explosion, he would have heard the remaining slavers groaning in pain. All but a handful of his undead were gone. The ones that weren’t, were on fire, as were the slavers.
The fire caused Voice thirty damage, even with his earth orb. The ambient temperature caused by the explosion caused the orb to turn into an over. Voice let his orb fade away. If he didn’t have the extra water mana cushioning the fire, he might have died even with the orb.
Evan was screaming in pain. Voice got quite a bit of satisfaction from that. Beside Evan was a man that seemed to have had his face scarred by fire.

The fire was causing steady damage to them both, but their health was too high for Voice to win. He had hoped he would at least do enough damage to destroy Evan’s chance at victory. Voice called for his undead, but the ninja were standing up, prepared to lay their lives down to stop the undead. Voice’s skeletons were even being pushed back.
Evan stood up. Anger gleamed in his eyes. Voice smiled back.
“Sol heal me.” Sol didn’t respond.
Ancestor spoke to him. “I’m sorry Voice. Since you used a powerful dark artifact, I don’t think your fairy is going to be able to help you for a while. You will most likely have to wait for it to regenerate its power.”
Voice frowned. His mana manipulation was the only hope he had in winning this battle, but he had to heal himself. His regen speed was too slow. He quickly dumped his unused stat points into int. He healed himself using the mana it gave him. He was full, but only had 20 mana left.
He got a message. Not the usual message from the game either.
My beloved Chosen One. I have seen your plight against slavers and undead. I have seen how you sacrifice yourself for others. I grant you a piece of my power.
Light Affinity plus 10.
Mar has given you the ability: Selfless Sacrifice.
Selfless Sacrifice
By sacrificing at least one level you cause direct damage to all evil aligned targets around you. You deal full damage to all targets. The damage is equal to your total, health, mana, and stamina times the total levels you sacrifice. Health spent damages health, mana spent damages mana, and stamina spent damages stamina. If mana or stamina damage exceeds individual’s total mana or stamina, the excess amount will damage health.
Consumes at least 1 level. You lose all health when this ability is used.
Ancestor summarized the info for Voice. Kronah was already coming in to attack Voice. Kronah sliced at Voice’s chest. His sword cut through bone. Skeleton bone.
One of the skeletons had managed to escape the onslaught of the three remaining ninja. The ninja now numbered only two though. One had succumbed to excessive wounds.
Voice sent a secret message to his skeletons, and lich. “Get out if you want to live! I’m about to use an ability that might destroy you for good!”
Voice had no doubt that his mana at least, was higher than the slavers. One of the skeletons, and the lich, ran outside. Voice figured that losing two levels was much better than losing the quest. Although he might still lose the quest for dying.
Voice activated Selfless Sacrifice. He used two levels, just to be safe. Suddenly a wave of light blasted through the area. Kronah, the undead, and the two ninja turned into dust. Evan glowed in a golden light.

Evan started laughing. He knew Voice had just lost. “HAHAHAHAHA AHAHAHAAAA!”
Voice fell to the ground. The last thing he saw was some sort of red blur streak past the entrance door to the throne room. Voice wanted to make the man suffer, but in his state all he could manage was a whisper. “make suffer…”

Friends stumble onto something that redefines what it means to be a One Percenter.
8 200My Isekai
For those not familiar with the isekai genera, this story is about a man waking up in an unknown world. The story follows his journey and life in this world, which does not only look different on the surface, but the common norms and values of this world are very alien to the modern western mindset. How will this average western person respond to such a world, and how will it change him. For those familiar with isekai, this is a western take on a predominantly Japanese story format. It draws a lot of inspiration from Japanese isekai, but it also tries to tackle a lot of tropes that might be annoying to the western mindset. The story is not written for young boys as the story tries to take a mature take on some typical clichés and assumptions made by both the typical writer and reader of the genera.
