《DIVE》Dive 25: The Battle

Short summary of the last chapter:

Spoiler : Voice was sent into the realm of the gods. He received many boons from them, but the second to last boon that he got made it so he couldn’t use the blessings of the other gods, only Davros’. He gained a few skills, then he fell into the blackness.

Days until Ether Realm Battle: ???

Voice awoke in a familiar room. He was back in Susan’s shop. He sat up. Looking around he noticed Heather sleeping beside him. EDI had nodded off in a chair near his bed. He gently nudged Heather. She opened her eyes scooted towards him. She started rubbing against him.

“We thought you wouldn’t wake up!” Heather’s shout woke EDI. EDI looked around for a moment, alarmed. When she noticed Voice sitting up she gave him a hug.

“Oh Voice! I’m so glad you’re ok!” She tightened her hug.

Voice coughed. “You’re choking me EDI.” Cough, cough.

“Oh sorry.” She released his while blushing furiously. She was just excited that he was ok.

//

EDI had actually carried Voice all the way back to Susan’s. She had used her only two healing potions for Voice and Heather. On the way she had been attacked by a level 30 bear. She was already in the low level 20 area, so it was pretty weird.

EDI set Voice down. She pulled the bear’s attention, while Heather went in for a quick kill. The bear swiped at EDI. EDI easily dodged to the side. Heather bit the bear, dragging him to the ground. EDI stabbed both of her Sais into his eyes. She had realized almost as soon as she had met Voice, how powerful stabbing out an opponent’s eyes was. Not only did it always deal critical damage, it also blinded the enemy. An enemy that can’t see can’t hit.

With its eyes torn from its sockets it was easily killed. EDI picked Voice back up. She noticed that his stomach had turned metallic in color. Voice had also gotten seriously heavier. He was at least twice the weight he was earlier.

The rest of the journey to the city was uninteresting. EDI and Heather managed to easily take Voice to the city gate, although they were just about dragging him when they got to it. EDI wasn’t strong enough to carry something that heavy for long.

The guards stopped her at the gate. One burly intimidating guard pulled out his sword. “Halt! The battle for the future of Mar’s religion is tomorrow. Who are you? Are you from the snake Davros?”

EDI shook her head no. She probably wouldn’t tell them if she was though. The guardsman looked at the body she was carrying. He eyed it suspiciously.

“Why are you carrying a dead body?” EDI hurriedly explained the situation. They had been training in the woods when he was attacked and fell unconscious after saving Heather.

The guard looked closely at the body. When EDI happened to mention his name was Voice the guard called over a couple of other large men.

“Sorry about that ma’am. Where were you taking him?” The other two men were instructed to carry him. EDI told him to bring Voice to Susan the alchemist’s. They sat him down on the makeshift bed upstairs and left to get a priest.

EDI called for Susan. She didn’t really know Susan that well, but she did buy quite a few potions from her. Through the course of the game she had come to learn about Voice’s sleeping arrangement with her.

A priest came in a few minutes later. He examined Voice, and casted some healing magic.

It had been over an hour and Voice still hadn’t waken up. Eventually EDI found a chair and started dozing off.

//

Voice got out of bed and went downstairs. He saw Susan talking to a priest. Susan had her back to the stairs so she didn’t notice him coming down. The priest saw him, and gave a deep bow.

Susan turned around. When she saw Voice she breathed a sigh of relief. “Oh thank goodness! The priest was just talking about your condition. EDI said you had gone berserk and killed a wolf that was attacking Heather. You are too sweet for your own good!” Susan rushed over and gave him a long hug.

Voice blushed slightly at the sudden affection. “Yes, well I’m ok now. Thank you for worrying so much about my Susan. You are always so nice to me.” He gave her a very sweet face, accompanied by his excessively alluring tone.

“And thank you sir priest. For making sure I am fit to battle the dark god’s chosen.” Voice inclined his head slightly. The priest quickly told him that it was no problem. “Well I actually require something from the church. If you would like to accompany me?” Voice motioned toward the priest who energetically nodded his head.

“Susan, I know I have put you through a lot, but could I trouble you for another favor?”

Susan shook her head in slight disbelief. “Of course. You know you only need to ask.”

Voice smiled at her. “Thank you. Would you prepare a stack of 99 bandages, also if we have some mana potions I would like to buy about two stacks of them.” (one stack of potions is only 9 if you remember.)

He left the shop as Susan got everything ready. Heather had hurried downstairs and was following him to the temple. Once there the head priest greeted Voice. “Hello Chosen of Mar. How may I be of assistance to you?”

Voice inquired about the healing plants area. The head priest had a large smile across his face as he answered.

“Well, we might not have been able to increase the amount of healing each plant does, but we are managing to keep it the same! With the help you showed us last time, all of our worries about decreased healing, and not being able to plant enough are gone!”

Voice smiled as the head priest shook his hand heartily. “Good, good. Well I was just thinking about a small exchange.” The priest adopted a look of contemplation while signaling Voice to continue. “I was thinking, I could do another harvest for you, and I thought I could keep some of the potions I made to determine which the best is.” The priest thought for a moment.

“Yes, I think that would work admirably. If we can get another increase in power from the plants it would be very beneficial. The current level of potions we can make only heal for about 40 points apiece. I guess it’s to be expected since we only follow the recipe you showed us before.”

Voice gawked at the priest. He was amazed at the fact that they could make potions so powerful.

I guess that means some sort of evolution happened, and the plants are more powerful now. I am going to sit down and look up gardening after the fight.

With a new plan of action decided Voice went to start harvesting the plants. While he was working he realized the priests had started helping. With their help it only took him twenty minutes to harvest the entire garden. He had multiple stacks of each plant. He went to Susan’s.

Once there he went straight to the lab. He followed his exact pattern that he used last time. He separated the seeds from the plants, and then put the seeds into groups. He used critical strike six times per potion. He had hundreds of materials to go through, but was managing them extremely quickly. He ended up with 40 Ops that healed 5k each.

*Attention*

The game has registered an excessively high numerical value from materials unable to provide sufficient potency. The game will begin a complete sever update in 24 hours.

Voice didn’t pay attention to the notice. He had other things to worry about right now. His alchemy skill didn’t level up except when he made the OP, not just drying or making regular potions.

He ran to the temple. He only had an hour and a half before midnight. He didn’t have enough time to do everything on his list.

I shouldn’t have been so greedy with those potions. Well at least I got forty on top of what I gave the church. After donating the potions to the church he planted the rest of the seeds he had. He kept one hundred of each seed. He gained some piety, but didn’t have time to read the notice.

His inspect skill and alchemy skill had each leveled up a nice bit. He even gained one dexterity. He went back to Susan’s. He was going to get some bandages for his auto aid. He ran inside and saw a pile of goods on the desk. He didn’t question what they were. Instead he just grabbed the bandages he saw. He got a notice. Tired of getting so many he read it, he was going to turn off the update thing after.

Automatic Nursing has fused all 40 Over Potions with the medium level bandages. You have traded in 40 Over Potions and 40 Stacks of bandages for 40 stacks of Over Potion soaked bandages. These bandages will keep the healing effects of the potions for 48 hours. Every hour after that the healing will degrade by 2%.

The minimum length of alchemically treated bandages is 1 inch.

Ps. You should remember your skills dude.

Voice had forgotten about his automatic nursing skill. He stared blankly at the blue box. He tilted his head, and rubbed his eyes. It was still there.

Keeping calm he thought to himself. So not only did I just USE ALL OF MY FUCKING POTIONS! THE MOTHER FUCKING SYSTEM IS MAKING FUN OF ME!!!?!!!? Voice was pissed. He was ready to kill someone. If it weren’t for the promise of the massacre to come he might have actually done it. He pulled at his hair in frustration. Every bandage unit held about five feet of bandages that meant each foot healed about an addition 1000 health. So every inch healed about 83 points. That meant that he was wasting some unless he got hurt for at least that much.

He wanted to cry over how everything was going wrong, but he didn’t have time. He saw a note beside the bandages saying Susan left more bombs with Evan. He went to Evans and asked how many more bombs he had.

Evan thought Voice looked like a rabid animal. His eyes were red and swollen, he had minor cuts and bruises everywhere. His hair was a mess, and he gave an overall impression of ‘mess with me. I dare you.’

Evan gave him all of the bombs Susan had left with him. Voice promptly went to the training hall after pocketing the orbs of destruction.

Once there he waited for several minutes. He wanted to get this over with, but if he pushed the teacher he might have come here for nothing. After about ten minutes the training instructor walked over to him. “What is it you need?” His tone was a bit gruff, no doubt a little peeved that Voice had quit the training when he was almost done.

“I broke my staff, I was wondering if I could use one of yours, and if I could practice here a little more.” Then man gave him a blank stare.

“I don’t just give my equipment to anyone. Maybe if you had stayed to train, but you left part way through. Now I didn’t even charge you out of the goodness of my heart, but you squandered that.”

Shit he’s mad. OK gotta salvage this.

“I’m sorry. Truly I am, but my battle with Davros’ Champion is in less than an hour. I will gladly pay you whatever you wish for the lessons and the staff, but I do need one. The only reason I even left was to level up so I wouldn’t get killed with only one hit.” Voice tried to look as apologetic, sorry, and most of all sincere, as he could.

He looked up after producing a miniscule amount of tears in his eyes. Steve started stammering, while the practitioners of the dojo looked at Steve with scorn. One of them spoke up. “Come on man! He had to level! Not to mention he was almost done with the staff training anyway. He even made us some incredible food a few times.”

Voice’s ears perked up at the second to last sentence, but his outward composure remained the same. Steve quickly instructed one of the students to get a staff. When he was handed the staff he held it out to Voice.

“Alright, you can have this, but you must finish your training. You had almost finished anyway. All I need to do is teach you the first ability of the staff.”

Voice nodded greedily. He was going to get a free ability!? Steve took him to the center of the dojo. All of the students gathered around, forming a complete circle around him. Steve picked up a staff and showed Voice what to do.

“First aim the bottom of the staff at your opponent.” He continued to show the entire process until he thought Voice could try it. The move wasn’t horribly difficult, but it took a lot of dexterity to pull off. First he had to point the bottom of his staff at his enemy. Then he started doing a side spin. After three spins he had to switch to the opposite direction. Then switch sides and do it again.

It looked very simple from far away, but when he tried doing it he saw the advantages. By switching sides and directions constantly it became harder to figure out how to block. Furthermore you could mix up the cycle and make it even harder.

After another few minutes of practice Steven nodded his head at Voice. “Good, the ability is called Consistent Fury.”

Consistent Fury

Attacks the enemy several times. The attacks become more devastating as the chain progresses. It costs 50 stamina to start, then 5 stamina for each hit. Every ten consecutive strikes stun the enemy.

You have learned the skill Staff Mastery.

“Inspect: Staff Mastery.”

Staff Mastery

Current Level: Apprentice Level 25 Exp 0.00%

By training with a staff you have learned the skill.

Staves are now more comfortable for you to wield

You gain an additional 10% damage while using a staff (Melee only).

To level this skill you must become more attuned to using staves.

Proficiency in arms and armor may be trained by someone of higher skill level. In that case starting level and rank of these types of skills would be higher.

After trying it out a few times the world went black.

Voice felt himself being poked. He tried to open his eyes, but they were too heavy. He swatted whatever was poking him away. This time he felt a hard jab into his ribs.

He managed to open small slits in his eye lids. Everything was blurry. He pushed himself up. He closed his eyes again as pain seeped into his body.

The world was still blurry. No blurry was the wrong word. The area around him was completely black. Light only came from the many colored swirls, which seemed to appear and disappear without any warning. Even the ‘ground’ was made of this emptiness and swirls.

As he was looking around he noticed another figure. The other was in a dark robe, with dark smoke coming from his feet.

Voice jumped back and equipped his spear. His inspect told him that this man had a level of 32.

The figure spoke in the same deep, sinister voice he had heard before. “Hello. Finally awake are you? You know it’s already been a day since you got here?”

Voice shook his head to lose the rest of the grogginess. There was no way this person would wait an entire day to fight him. After all he had ripped his heart out in seconds.

Voice scoffed. “Sure and you are very nice for waiting for me to wake.”

The other man nodded. “True. I see you have some respect for me. That’s good. Now the reason I waited was I wanted to see how far you had come in your training.”

With that the man was surrounded by smoke. Voice immediately felt the sensation of wind, and cause a medium sized gust of wind towards the smoke.

Since Voice had inspect on, he clearly saw that he had just caused 87 damage.

The robe man rematerialized. “HA! I knew you would learn some sort of spell to stop that! Well let’s discuss something. Come now.”

Voice wasn’t about to fall for any trap. He replied, “Sure but if it’s all the same to you I will stay in a defensive position.” The other man seemed to think about it for a moment.

“Sure, if that makes you feel safer. Now this is what I wanted to say. We should team up.” Voice gave him a quizzical look. He continued, “Davros said you would be granted one wish if you were to lose to me. Now I love rigged battles, but it occurs to me that you hold some sort of grudge against me.” Voice cursed Davros for tricking him. Voice tricked Davros, but it was bullshit that HE would get tricked.

“Furthermore, your wish could be used on anything. Now I have a proposition. I’ll lose on purpose.” Voice cocked his head. “You get what you want, and I can still keep all of my skills and levels.”

Voice quickly went over a few possible ways to get something good out of this. “Ok, but why not just kill me. If you do it without me actually trying to lose I don’t get me wi-“

As Voice said that the dark figure stood up. He rushed over and attacked Voice. Shit, I guess he didn’t think of that. The dark figure conjured an immense fog as he ran towards Voice. By the time he reached him, Voice couldn’t even see anything.

He was hit from behind, then the left, then the right. He wasn’t even taking damage, he just kept getting hit. He noticed a number in a blue box appear in front of his right eye. It said 100. Every time he took another hit he lost one to the number. He was at 89 before he even realized what was happening.

Voice had a good idea to stop the rapid decrease in number. Voice pictured what it felt like to be tossed around by the tornado room. He concentrated on when the massive force of the wind would keep him in the air. He pictured the gale force winds pushing the front of his body. At that same moment Voice jumped back as far as he could.

With the wind enhanced jump Voice leapt back over 50 feet. Shit that’s cool! I could be in the Olympics or something! Voice hit the ground, hard. As he got back to his feet he saw the man running towards him. Voice threw three of his homemade bombs at the man while he started to run away.

The man’s running speed was insane. Every step seemed to propel him at least ten feet. Voice noticed that the man had waves of air coming out of his feet. He also noticed that the man’s hood was kept perfectly in place. Even the bombs seemed to be tossed aside before they could hit him. He threw a quick glance at his mana regen. Voice’s mind concentrated on his shoes. He channeled as much mana as he could into them. He jumped with all of his might. He easily flew a hundred feet in the air. He felt the mana drain immediately. He had rationalized an escape plan. Since he saw that his mana regen was still dented from his stomach, he figured godly items didn’t count as blessings. It paid off.

When he reached the apex of his jump, he felt his shoes form some sort of platform. He was falling, but very slowly. It felt like the boots were pushing constant eddies of air against his feet. His opponent was waiting for him. Right where he would land was a cloaked man with twin daggers drawn. Voice threw down a dozen more bombs. Each was swatted aside by some invisible force before causing a large explosion in the distance.

Voice tried casting wind magic, but noticed his mana regen was completely stopped.

I guess that means that the shoes are using exactly 2.2 points of magic a second.

He wondered if the air on his soles was pushing up, or just pushing against the bottom of the shoes. He lifted his left leg slightly. He felt his body start to slowly drift in the direction he was pointing. He noticed that he started falling just a bit faster.

The figure just started to lazily walk after him. Keeping pace wasn’t hard since Voice was only going a few miles an hour. Voice smirked. He forced himself into the superman position. It multiplied his horizontal speed magnificently, but he also started falling a lot faster. He felt like he could make himself go faster if he were able to actually cast magic as well, but that didn’t matter. The entire time he was throwing bombs to try to slow down his opponent.

Just before he hit the ground he stood upright. The hit was still hard, although cushioned by a small platform of air created by his shoes. His knees buckled. The next thing he knew the robed figure was dashing towards him. He saw giant gusts of air coming from his back.

Voice staggered up, just as he got his staff in position he was attacked. The Dark Champion attacked with both of his daggers quickly. Voice was getting beaten badly. He would block one dagger, only to have the other come from a completely different angle.

Whenever he would block an attack the next would be a little quicker, and a little stronger. Voice blocked an attack while trying to regain some mana. The figure attacked for his head, so he spun his staff in a circle to deflect it. As he deflected the first strike he saw the man throw his other dagger in the air.

Voice pushed himself back with what little mana he had gathered in those few seconds. He started running, only to have his right leg impaled by a falling dagger. Cursing he continued to run, the bandages already done healing the wound.

He felt a gust of wind hit his back. He was knocked off balance, and hit the ground. He rolled once then brought his staff up, expecting an attack. It was a good thing he did. The robed man did several slashes in only a few seconds. Voice managed to block most of them, but four of them hit. The indicator now said 28.

Voice was getting a really bad premonition as to what the counter indicated. He used a small gust of wind to force his opponent away, while at the same time pushing him in the air. While in the air he slightly turned his body, and began running in a direction perpendicular to the other man. He heard the familiar sound of large amounts of wind.

He heard the man shouting. “STOP RUNNING AWAY!” Suddenly large dark chains started to come up from the ground. Even though Voice ran past where they were coming out, they still managed to grasp at his body. The chains were going slightly faster than he was. He had to constantly use bursts of wind, and his bombs to stop them from getting him. He was getting frantic. This whole endeavor had been a horrible idea. Nothing he did worked, he was getting beaten horribly.

After a few seconds of this the enemy had caught up to him. The man knocked Voice down with a gust of wind directed to the back of his knees. Chains of concentrated darkness sprung up around him faster than he could get up.

The chains encircle his entire body. The man had caught up, and was snickering at Voice. “Well, it looks like you can’t run anymore huh?” The man removed his hood as he laughed. His name instantly showed up.

Voice made a humph sound. He had expected something like this. The figures name was DefiledHealer.’

Voice was about to speak when a thick rope of darkness drug itself across his mouth. DH smirked. “You know, I was just wanting to test how powerful you are. You just kept running away though. Kind of pisses me off.” DH hit Voice until his number gauge read one. “Now let’s talk a bit. Do you know why I could use the wind magic like you?” It seemed as though DH was trying to brag. The rope around Voice’s mouth disintegrated, allowing him to speak.

“I don’t know. Given the way you asked I would assume I had something to do with it.” DH nodded. “Maybe it had to do with that time you killed me?” Voice felt that his only option here was to make DH free him on his own.

DH looked impressed. “That’s exactly it. When I sacrificed your heart I gained access to one of your magical abilities. It just turned out that it was complete manipulation of wind. Care to tell me how you got that?”

Voice decided to try something. “Sure, but in exchange could you free me first? That way we can battle.”

DH thought that was reasonable so he did. Voice instantly used the new ability he had gotten. DH was taken slightly off guard by the attack. “Good! You seem to take me seriously! I wish everyone respected my power like you do!” Voice continued his attack.

He didn’t mind giving DH a little bit of info. If only to confuse the shit out of him. “I learned it from the mage’s tower in the city. If you go train in the wind class you will be able to figure it out.” DH took this as an actual answer.

During his speech Voice landed a hit. He had thrown three bombs. Two towards DH, and one on the ground between them. As the one on the ground exploded Voice managed to catch DH by surprise. He only did ten damage, but he noticed that DH’s health bar was only at 100. “So why is your health so low? Was it a curse from Davros?” Voice thought he could weasel some info out of DH. It came out much easier than he expected.

At first DH was angry when he heard how Voice was making fun of his health, but when he heard Voice realized it was a curse his anger abated. The attacks kept getting more and more ferocious. DH was only blocking, he wanted to see how good Voice was. Voice only managed to land that first hit, but it was still something.

“Yes, it is. In exchange I get to use a special ability.” When he said that he had figured out Voice’s attack pattern. Blocking was quickly becoming boring, so he started adding in some attacks of his own. “I can use one magical ability of the last thing I killed, as long as I eat its heart. It’s pretty handy, although the ability is random, and it dissipates if I kill something else. Even if it’s the same thing I have to eat its heart again.”

Voice was getting worried again. At first DH was only blocking, but he after a while he started to throw in some of his own attacks. Voice tried to increase the pressure, but DH was getting closer to hitting him. He blocked or dodged every thrust and slice DH sent towards him, but his stamina was getting low. He was using his staff in a spinning motion, and would block wherever he saw DH’s arm flex towards. Unfortunately DH was getting too fast for Voice to handle. He swung a dagger in a downwards motion, while slicing the other horizontally. Voice angled his staff so he could deflect the first attack, and then scoop his second dagger, blocking that one. The second dagger switched attacks halfway through. Voice was pierced again.

The counter hit zero. Voice staggered as he took a lot of damage. DH smile and explained. “These daggers have a unique ability. Whenever I hit someone a total of one hundred times the lose 99.99% of their current health. It’s not very good for enemies that have low hp, but I wanted you to know I could beat you even using these.” DH stopped attacking during this monologue. He disappeared in a puff of smoke.

Voice instinctively turned around and raised his staff to block. His stamina had completely drained, he was only moving on pure willpower. Unfortunately willpower alone made you move at 50% speed.

DH wasn’t having a hard time at all from what Voice could tell. He was even able to hold a conversation with no problem. DH did in fact appear behind him. Even though Voice knew where he would come from DH managed to land another four hits as Voice was too exhausted to block properly.

The hits seemed to grow heavier as Voice slowly started to lose the ability to move. DH easily managed to hit Voice a hundred times as Voice was getting extremely sloppy. What surprised him was what happened when he had hit Voice another 100 times. His health had dropped by 289.

DH got curious as to why Voice’s health regened so quickly. He stopped attacking for a few moments to give Voice a breather. He sat beside Voice. After waiting for a couple of minutes DH asked, “So how did you heal so quickly?”

Voice was so exhausted he could only be grateful towards DH for not attacking any more. He no longer had the will, or stamina, to keep going.

He answered in between breaths. His stamina was full, but he was still fatigued. “Well… I prepared a bunch… of healing items.”

DH took in this new information. He was pleased that Voice recognized him as so dangerous a threat he would even prepare automatically usable healing items.

DH waited for Voice to be fully healed before continuing on with his one sided slaughter. Voice occasionally tried using his wind magic, but in never mattered in the end. Anything he could do, DH could easily figure out how to nullify.

DH was quickly losing interest in this game. It was always the same, everything always went his way. After a while he got bored and tried stirring things up. Voice kept running out of stamina. DH had drank a Potion of Unending Stamina he had gotten from doing a quest for Davros. The potion consumed all of his agility stat after the effects wore off, but for half an hour he would regenerate a total of 50% of his maximum stamina a second.

DH did a long flurry of blows. With his heavy armor on, Voice managed to dodge or block most of them. His armor even stopped a few slicing attacks from counting, but DH was too fast. Voice couldn’t compare.

Where the hell did he get this speed!?

Voice didn’t understand how someone could become so strong. While getting horribly beaten he asked, “So how did you get so many powers?”

DH took on a bit of an instructor’s aura, all while mercilessly hammering Voice. “Davros rewards sacrifices. The more you sacrifice to him, the more power he will give you. Of course,” DH managed to land two consecutive hits at that. If they had been able to do damage Voice would probably have lost right there. One went through his heart, the other through his eye. He was momentarily blinded. DH continued without even pausing. “Of course you can always do quests, or donate to the church, but sacrificing others is by far the most efficient way to gain power.”

DH started slashing and hacking at Voice. He now wanted to cause as much pain as possible. Voice cried out when the first few strikes hit him, but after that became too focused on defending. Every time Voice would block one dagger DH would attack with the other. It seemed as if he were only playing with Voice. Voice had to use Sense just to keep up. He had never fought a battle this hard. Every time he put more effort in, it was met by an equal amount from DH.

They battled for several more minutes. Voice tried using wind magic to push DH away, or go into the sky, but whenever he did DH would just knock him down with a sadistic smile.

DH decided it would be fun to see how much pain Voice could take. He used his Binding Chains of Darkness spell. After tying Voice up with several chains, and equipping real daggers, he went to work. The sound of Voice screaming was beautiful. In the Ether Realm you couldn’t even log out. So until DH was done Voice would have to withstand the torture.

Voice tried changing the pain settings, but there was none. He screamed as DH cut and prodded his body. His damn bandages were auto healing his wounds. He didn’t even care what happened to the future of the game. He just wanted for the pain to be over.

DH was amazed. He cut and stabbed Voice with real daggers, only to have him instantly regenerate. DH gleefully continued to stab and defile Voice. Every time he would scream DH would stab harder. Oh the joy! DH got an almost erotic satisfaction from the constant pain he inflicted. In DefiledHealer’s defense, he had to pay hefty price for the power he borrowed from Davros. DH was basically giving up his entire character for this satisfaction. All of his stats would be set to 1, as would his level.

But the rush! He always felt a rush while skinning animals in the real world, but now he could skin humans and get away with it!

The battle had lasted less than half an hour, but DH had one-sidedly beaten Voice down. Voice couldn’t even land a hit unless DH allowed it. It felt so good to be able to dominate others.

Unfortunately for DH, Voice was not strong enough to last for long. He heard Voice mumble something, so he got closer. He was wondering what could possibly be more important than his fun. He heard two words.

“I surrender.”

Everything went black. The Ether Realm turned into the realm of Davros. Deep, dark, foreboding. DH was angry that his fun was interrupted. DH heard Davros clapping.

Beside Davros were eight other figures. DH didn’t really care who they were. HE was promised a brand new character if he won this battle. A character with a unique race no less. He was going to be a dark elemental! He viciously grinned. Even though his fun was ruined, he’d be able to get more.

Davros spoke. “Well Voice you upheld your end of the bargain. Now what is your wish?” DH was more than a little mad at being ignored. Davros was trying to show his superiority. He always did that. DH vowed to one day kill Davros, of course after weeks of torture. DH hated when people looked down on him. He had to make things right if they did. He never got caught, but that’s because of how clever he was.

Well, that’s a story for a different time.

Voice was lifted in the air by the wind goddess. Davros continued. “You see Mar, I promised Voice one single wish if he threw the fight. It could be ANYTHING. This was all it took to push him into my camp.” He gave her a horrendous smile. “Oh Voice, by the way. I already signed an agreement with DH. I can’t use my powers to adversely affect him. So if you wanted something along those lines sorry.” His grin now turned towards Voice, who was just able to sit up.

Voice returned his smile. He turned to Mar. “I’m really sorry about going behind your back and all, but I really needed that wish.” Mar gave him a look of disgust. He went up to her. She tried to leave the realm, but Davros’ sadistic magic kept her in place.

Voice whispered something into her ear. She looked unbelieving, then confused. Then she started crying, while weakly nodding her head. Davros, seeing this, smiled with pride that someone could upset her so much.

Voice spoke his wish. “I wish that, after this wish, you no longer have any power to alter, affect, manipulate, anything within what I know as the game DIVE in anyway, without my express permission. This permission must be given by me, Voice0fReason, and I must give it while conscious and fully aware of my actions for it to count. Furthermore you can only alter, affect, or manipulate with exactly what I agree to, no more no less, and only at the time I dictate.”

Voice made his wish as solid as he could. He tried to make sure there were no loop holes in it. After getting beaten so badly it felt good to see Davros’ horrified expression.

Davros started to stammer. He continued to stammer, causing Voice to smile. “The wish was that you couldn’t manipulate anything that included me.” Voice was pretty proud of himself. He had gotten the second best thing to a loyal dog. A dog that could only act on his master’s orders. Sure Davros probably wouldn’t do what Voice wanted, but after a while of no interactions and the complete inability to use his power, Voice was sure he would be at least a little willing to cooperate.

What he had told Mar was simple, “I haven’t betrayed you. I am going to save your people. Watch me.”

Davros tried to reject the deal, or find some sort of loop hole out of it, but that would have constituted affecting the game. Voice gave both DH and Davros a well-deserved wicked grin. “Well, I guess you two had really better leave.” He taunted the two now powerless evil individuals. Well, DH wasn’t powerless, but he soon would be.

A shadow flew at Voice. He tried to block it, but he felt something wet on his chest. As his world went black he saw DH with an evil smile directed at him. The world went black, but at the same time Voice threw as many bombs as he could at where DH was.
