《Kinda Real Online》34. More Questions

Blanket man immediately got up, and started moving towards the door, "Excuse me sir, I'll get out of your way."
The doctor stopped him, "Wait, I want a second opinion from our world. Marcus you may restart your explaination."
Marcus let out a little sigh then started talking, "We, Me, Lily, and Bwyd come from a world that was created for the enjoyment of people. It is not a real world, but people from our world are able to travel there in different forms, and interact with the fabricated world. We were all told it was a game world, but no one said that it was actually... Oh, Kinda Real." He stopped talking and stared off into the distance. Which really wasn't that far since we were in a room.
"Hello? Marcus? Anyone home?" Lily lightly punched his arm.
"Oh, sorry, I just realized something." He stopped again.
Lily looked at the doctor and shrugged, "He does this alot when he's thinking about something. He'll figure it out soon, and tell us all about it."
"Hmm, then can one of you tell us more about your world?"
"Sure! It's big, bright, and filled with lots of people."
"Can you be more specific. What kind of magic do you have, what kinds of people, geography, climate, religions. I need details, and I will be recording this." The doctor held his tablet ball up.
"Details? Well, there's a bunch of different climates, and races, and geography, and religions, but no magic." The doctor was looking strangely at his tablet ball. "We have some racial tensions, but for the most part everyone gets along, except the changelings, nobody trusts changelings."
I almost spit out the last piece of steak that I was eating, but managed to swallow it instead, "What do you mean changelings?"

"Changelings are changelings. They change, so you never know what they really are." She looked surprised that I asked.
"But they aren't real. They're fantasy creatures, like elves and dwarves, and... dragons." I said the last word a little quieter. I was a dragon in a, probably, real world.
"Uh, Bwyd. I'm normally an elf. I am definitely not a fantasy, and so is my family." She spoke telepathically to me, like what she did when we first met. "Do you really not have elves where you are from?"
I just nodded.
The doctor, who had been messing with his tablet ball for most of our conversation, said, "Lily, is there a reason your voice can't be recorded?"
"Does her voice sound like bells in the recording?" I moved closer to him to get a look at his tablet ball.
"Her voice is not registering as a voice. I cannot get it to record."
"So, when we first met her voice sounded like bells to me, then she figured out how to talk to dragons, and it sounded like words, so maybe she can't talk to tablet balls."
"What? Tablet balls?" The doctor looked confused.
Marcus surprised us all as he started laughing, "I picked the right time to start listening. Great name Bwyd!"
Everyone else looked confused, and Lily asked, "What is a tablet ball?"
Marcus started laughing again, so I had to answer, "Well a tablet is a device from my world that you can do a whole bunch of stuff with, and it can be carried around easily. That thing" I pointed at the tablet ball, "reminded me of tablets, but it's round, and tablets are flat, so I was calling it a tablet ball in my mind."

The doctor looked a little upset that I called his device a tablet ball, "First of all this is a multi-purpose utility device, or MUD. Secondly, if Lily's communication ability is a mix between telepathy, and 'bell noises' that would explain why the MUD does not register her voice as a voice. It also means that we cannot record what she says, so someone else will need to describe your world. And lastly, Marcus good to have you back, please finish where you left off."
"Oh, sorry about that, but I realized something. The virtual world we came from, was called Kinda Real Online. They were basically saying that it was almost a real world, but not quite. It was filled with both fake and real things, held together by something powerful that made everything make sense. It didn't matter what happened in that world, no one ever questioned it. It was like we were all forced to accept what happened as possible, no matter how absurd. You could have an alien android fighting a flying spagetti monster along side a six armed snake woman, and no one would question it.
"I could cast magic, and do things I would never imagine doing in reality, but now I think I could have. I don't think our worlds were devoid of magic. I think we just didn't know how to do it."
The doctor stopped him, "If that is the case, then perhaps we should discuss your world. It may help us to get a better picture of what is going on."
The next few hours we talked about Earth. Well Marcus and I talked about Earth. The doctor asked a lot of questions, and we answered them as best as possible. It was kind of interesting how the doctor reacted to our descriptions of political events, and the governments of the world. To his people, the idea of separate nations was odd. They needed to work together to survive, and though they had factions, everyone had a place, and a purpose. They were kind of like a capitalist communist city, ruled by a noble class, who also happened to possess strong magical bloodlines. So as Marcus explained things and I felt like I should pay more attention to the news, the doctor seemed to get more and more upset with what he heard.
He mostly complained about the waste of resources, and if Earth was governed like his world was, we would be able to acomplish more. Eventually, he stopped trying to figure out why we did things the way we did, and just listened with a frown on his face. I also learned that Marcus was from Hawaii, and didn't like Hawaiian pizza.
When the doctor was finally done asking questions about Earth, we took a bathroom/stretching break before we started learning about Lily's world.

My Intergalactic Boyfriend
Rae is an 18 year old boy, with "Fluffy Cat-Like Ears and a Tail", who is going into his senior year in high school at the lowest point in his life. Rae has been relentlessly bullied and tormented for his entire childhood because of his physical differences. When Rae's last bit of hope for a life with meaning is crushed, the Cosmos decides to send him a guide to help him find his Purpose and grant him Love. First and foremost this is a Science Fiction, Fantasy-Adventure story. The story has a strong "Slow-Burn" Gay Romance sub-plot (Male x Male / Boy x Boy) that is central to the events in the story. (i.e. Characters are not going to fall in love with each other immediately.) You will likely find that the pacing in the beginning is intentionally slower than some other stories. To some it may even resemble a slice-of-life / school-life style story early on. This is intentional and is my personal choice for character developement and world-building, but I assure you there will be plenty of Fantasy and Adventure later in the story. Hopefully, the various mix of elements will appeal to a wide range of readers. This story is published only on: RoyalRoad / Tapas / Wattpad This story is published only under the ScreenName: SpuriousSimulacrum
