V2 Chapter 4

The attackers were five Lv3 monster beasts known as Blue Scaled Snake. These Monster Beasts frequently appeared at the edge of Golden Toad Swamp and possessed the ice attribute; within them was an ice poison. If one was not treated within half a day of being poisoned, this poison would freeze the blood within the victim’s body and result in death.

The five Snake monsters hung on the tree branches, hiding and some were even among the thicket of the bushes, waiting for the mercenaries to pass by and pounced on them. With lightning-like speed, they took the mercenaries by surprise, swiftly and easily poisoning several of their members.

Instantly, the members who were poisoned immediately felt their faces turned an icy pale. Their legs and hands became cold as they collapsed. Obviously, this didn’t bypass everyone’s strict vigilance and immediately angrily struck back.

A moment later, the monsters were unsurprisingly killed by the group of mercenaries. Upon finding no monster cores within their corpses, the mercenaries could only let out a slightly regretful sigh. In the wild, it was common to suffer serious injuries and be unrewarded after killing the monsters and beasts. Thus, they did not hold much hope of finding anything.

Fortunately enough, among the group were people from the Thousand Medicine Pavilion and immediately managed to save those who were inflicted by poison.

As they were helping the wounded, suddenly,

Ah!!

A shrill scream erupted out from somewhere.

This voice caught the group’s attention in an instant. Then the ground shook as if a massive foot was steeping on the ground, shaking the entire mountain.

“What is happening?” Asked the voice. When the voice rang out, the crowd’s attention immediately turned towards the owner.

When they turned their heads almost simultaneously, they then saw Shisha Cortex. She had an exquisite figure and had curves underneath her dress. Her blonde hair shone like fine gold silk fluttering in the sky as the breeze blew. It was exceptionally moving.

The girl’s skin was white as snow while her eyebrows were like crescent moons. While she moved gently, it seemed that it teased people’s hearts.

Underneath the moon-like eyebrows were a pair of heroic phoenix eyes. These eyes were so beautiful those who stared into them would lose themselves in them. Not many males of the same age were able to maintain their calm under her gaze.

Moreover, she possessed an extremely refined face. The only shortcoming it had, was that it did not have a smile. It wasn’t that the face was cold and detached; instead, it was as calm as a lake. Her beautiful piercing phoenix eyes blinked gently and gave off a feeling that nothing in this world would attract her gaze.

The originally bustling crowd had instantly turned quiet by such a scene. Many people secretly stole a glance at her.

“Miss Shisha, something is apparently coming towards this direction…”

Finally, a tall man, who was relatively handsome, walked over.

“Something?” Shisha frowned. Then, the ground was again shaking, this time much stronger. Shisha almost stumbled down. The tall man hurriedly came to support her but she slaps the hands away without a care and snorted. She then grabbed the tree beside her and her eyes narrowed.

The tall handsome man could only smile bitterly as he felt the stinging pain coming from his hand.

This woman was well-known to have hatred against men, that she never likes even to touch men slightly. There was even a rumor that she was apparently a lily flower, those that prefer similar genders.

When the ground finally stopped shaking, under the stunned gazes of the crowd, a large figure of over 20 to thirty meters tall appeared before them.

“Save me…!!!” Then from in front, a desperate cry could be heard running towards them.

“Run! Faster!”

The horse sprinted through the forest, a young adolescent knight riding atop it.

Sweat pooled on her forehead, her beautiful face etched in fear.

Blood flowed freely from hands which held the reins, the stirrup was a ruined mess. The knight glanced back on occasion, looking out for her pursuer.

“Hurry! It will catch up!”

Beyond the sight of the girl, a city gate towered in the distance. She desperately swung her riding crop in order to get there as soon as possible, but she could not feel that the distance was shrinking at all.

From the inside the forest next to prairie, the figure of her pursuer revealed itself.

“Grororo… Gorororo….”

The humanoid monster approached while trampling trees. It was a one-eyed giant, a Cyclops. With light green skin and wielding a club that was thick as a tree, every time it took a step, the earth trembled, and each time the youth looked, its distance shrinks. Faint sound leaked from the youth’s throat.

“Damn, even though I finally became a knight.”

“Poooooodddd—!!”

The cyclops stretches its huge long arm to catch its prey. Drool dripped from between its sharp fangs and wilted the flowers.

The life of one person before one monster is like a candle in the wind.

“No, I don’t want to die…!”

A huge palm blocks the sunlight, casting a shadow overhead. Grotesque nails from five fingers imitated the scythe of the reaper. The castle gate was still a long distance ahead, completely out of reach.

“Someone… someone, please help me!”

“Gorororo… hungry”

The Cyclops makes a ferocious smile and exposes its fangs. It opened its large mouth, drawing sticky threads of saliva, reveling in delight as it catches its prey’s fear on its lone eyeball.

But the moment its fingertip touched the girl,

“Goaa!? Gorororoooooo!?”

“Get lost!!” A figure flashed and directly appeared on top of the Cyclops. Then, his legs stomped on the enormous body of the giant.

Boom!

Following an explosion, the huge force threw the huge body of the giant up. It smashed through quite a few trees before coming to a slow stop.

“Bravo!” A voice rang out and then another until all the people started cheering.

“Eh?” As for the Young Knight, she had finally realized that she had been saved. Exhaustion feeling her body and she started falling from the horse.

“Uh to…” With a flash, someone appeared before her and managed to catch her on time.

“Runa? What are you doing here?!” A voice asked the moment her face was seen.

“Sister Shisha?!” Through her blurry eyes, the young knight Runa saw Shisha who had managed to catch her and her eyes turned blurry in tears. She started crying while hugging Shisha’s body.

Runa stared over with a face full of tears. She hugged Shisha’s exquisite dynamic body tightly in her arms as her body trembled and she began to whimper.

“Runa what are you doing here?” Shisha furrowed her eyebrows as she glared at Runa. This girl… what is she doing inside the Desolate Plain…?

“Sister Shisha, actually…” While sniffling, Runa started narrating her experience.

She was a newly appointed Knight of the Kingdom and was then stationed at the Puzzling Town Holy Cathedral due to the shortage of manpower. The war that had happened a few months ago had hurt the kingdom’s army quite badly and even famous General Radon was gravely injured.

A few weeks after her designation in this place, the second young Bishop of the Holy Cathedral within the Buzzling town started wanting an expedition towards the Desolate Cave where rumored evil monsters lurked in the name of God. He rallied several dozen knights and charged through the forest.

“The Desolate Cave…!!? Is that bastard an idiot?!!” Shisha was extremely direct and serious in her manner of speech, showing how unbridled she was!

If this was other people, they would think twice saying it even if they thought the same thing as well. After all, even if the second young bishop was an idiot, no a complete utter fool, he was after all still a member of the Holy Cathedral—it was the strongest religious organization whose power was second only to the Imperial Family!

Thus, wanting to create an achievement, he wanted to kill some monsters within the infamous Desolate Cave—thinking that the monsters within the Desolate Cave should have been slaughtered by the Princess a year ago when she started an expedition to find the extremely famous Holy Sword; Excalibur!

He thought it wouldn’t be as horrible and terrifying as it currently was—but he was mistaken! The Desolate Forest was much more frightening than anyone’s imagination—!

Thus, the second young bishop and the others don’t have any other choice but to return back before it was too late. At that time, suddenly, a massive explosion occurred…
