Chapter 58: [ Advancement in status ]

Following the yell, a sturdy human figure suddenly shot out from the forested area. His hand carried a huge broadsword and together with the faint yellow light enveloping the blade, he violently hacked at the body of the three-headed wolf, sending it flying a few meters away.

The figure then grabbed Garas’ arm and hurriedly leap back.

“Oh?” Seeing that the person who suddenly appeared did not lose in a direct confrontation against the three-headed wolf with the Boss monster category, Rain immediately let out a shocked gasp.

So strong!

“Thanks, Doram,” Garas sent a gratified nod towards Doram as they immediately made a distance.

“Be careful,” Doram shrugs his shoulder.

Another round of arrows and magic started again. However, most of them were just swept away by its claws and tails. Another group of warriors also hurried over.

Without waiting for the others, Rain decided to attack first.

He leaped into the air and pulled four wired daggers, throwing it towards the monster. Three was dodged while one lodges itself into the monster’s side.

Rain immediately used his electricity, causing the monster to howl in pain from being electrocuted!

However, after a moment, the Cerberus Wolf howled and bit down the wire, pulling it with great force. Fortunately, before he was pulled, Rain immediately let go of the wire and flipped back a few meters away.

At this moment, the others finally managed to encircle the monster as they started besieging it at the same time.

Knights with shield went upfront, standing like a city wall, straight and upright!

Unexpectedly, they managed to stop the monster’s attacks by locking together with their shields.

As expected, these people are extremely powerful!

Rain watched the people fighting against the monster and couldn’t help but admired their ferocity. As an upstart, Rain felt he was extremely useless and weak.

Princess Leticia looked at Rain at the back, shooting out a ridiculous amount of arrows in a mere second, and he was quite accurate. This guy was also proficient with the bow. Every time his fingers released the bowstring, another one was shot out of the sky.

Rain’s mind had never been calmer. It was as if he had already fought for over a dozen years already.

He continued shooting arrows while the others continued to attack the monster, not stopping at all. He needed to get the last kill so that the experience he would get would be even larger. Right now, for some unknown reason, Rain started seeing the entire world like a game!

Obviously, with the exception of love and family, Rain see everything; fighting and all, as a game and killing enemies was nothing but grinding levels and earning experience points!

This has now become his mentality – some sort of accepting the reality that had presented inside of him.

If he thought that fighting and killing was just a game, at least, he wouldn’t feel too affected by killing someone or something.

Because, even if he had accepted his new reality, the mindset he had cultivated in the previous world will block his path – but what if he treats the fighting as a game? A virtual game?

A fighting virtual game??

Then everything will be alright, in any case, he can see his status just like one. Though, without a doubt, people called that escaping from reality.

But he had no choice…

To be able to survive in this kind of world – one must be broken!

Doram’s great sword was suddenly enveloped by flames as he swung it towards the monster, causing huge wounds on its neck and lower spine. He then immediately jumps back, avoiding the incoming claws.

The monster opened its three mouths and started spewing fire all of a sudden like some crazed arsonist. Even Rain’s arrow wasn’t spared and became a puddle the moment the fire block the arrows coming at it.

It was extremely hot, even the knights holding the shields felt their hands being grilled but they still held on, though, the shields seem to be saying otherwise. Their appearance started to distort and melt due to the angry arsonist.

The mages behind immediately moved. Different water magic spells rain down, trying to stop the fire.

Seeing this, Rain immediately started running. His hand crackling with electricity.

He then jumped in the air and projected a bolt of lightning, striking the three-headed wolf. Although it lacks a punch but due to the water magic drenching the monster, the weak thunderbolt would certainly be upgraded and become akin to that of a kick of a horse!

“Groooaaaaarrr!!” The three wolf heads howled in pain as the electricity run through its body like playful snakes.

Seeing this opportunity, all the people immediately rushed towards the monsters and once again bombarded it with numerous attacks. Slowly descending, one of the wolf head glared at Rain. It seems like it had noticed that Rain was the one who had just attack him.

And so, it hatefully opened its mouth and shoots out another flamethrower. Rain’s back felt ice cold.

“Rain!!” Anxious voices rang out and he can even hear Lafetti’s scream but he ignored it for now. He raised his both arms in front of him and cried out, “Congealed!”

After a moment, water particles started gathering in front of him as if they were attracted by a magnet. Then he spread his palms and a transparent water like substance appeared in front of him, like a cellophane sheet.

The water barrier blocked the flame spear.

Anyone thought that it would pierce through but contrary to what others expected, it resisted for a while and just as Rain finally landed in the ground, safe and sound, that’s the moment the barrier broke into pieces.

Fuck!! What was that!!? It actually managed to block a fifth rank monster’s flame spear!!

The moment Rain landed on the ground, he turned his body swiftly, bent down and supported his body with his arms. With his left leg as a pivot point, he whipped his right leg like a giant whip towards the monster’s open waist.

[ Strength EX ] immediately activated. With just a kick, the three-headed wolf stumbled at the side from the clean hit. At this moment, “[ Bone Spike ]!!” He desperately cried out.

Several sharp bone spikes protruded from the ground and stabbed the monster. Three successfully pierced through while the other broke from the point of contact.

[ Agility EX ]! Rain did a few backflips and dashed away from the monster as it swung its tail and claws to counter-attack.

With Rain retreated, the few warriors once again resumed their attacks.

This lasted for almost half an hour before the three-headed monster wolf finally fell down and died – Though it also dragged three people with it to the afterlife. What a bastard monster.

The monster was extremely tough and persistent, giving huge trouble towards Rain and the others.

Now, with its death, the group finally had time to breathe and relax. They immediately opened some dried meats and slowly chewed on it while some just sit down, trying to recover their strength and rest.

Rain stretched his arms and started walking towards Alba and Zarda who was watching the fight from a distance.

Greeted by them, Rain leaned down against Zarda and rest.

Rain started cleaning his sword while being embraced by Zarda from behind. Lafetti came over with the others and after seeing Zarda’s affectionate actions; she frowned and sit beside Rain, lovingly wiping his face from dirt.

“Are you okay?” Lafetti’s voice was soft and gentle.

Rain nodded his head and smiled.

“There will be a short rest before we continue,”
