Snow Wolf King! Why in this Desolate Plain?
Princess Leticia frowned but only for a moment as she immediately ordered her knights and warriors to lower their weapons. She then returned her gaze towards it, “I guess introductions would be a good place to start. I am the first princess of the Delouria Kingdom, Leticia Persil Louridia, its pleasure to meet you, Wolf King,”
“Ho, a princess huh,” The Silver Wolf King nodded in understanding. “So that is the reason why you have such good manners…”
“You can call me Alba, a retired Snow Wolf King, only here waiting for her pup to return…”
Pup?
“Was that so? In any case, do you need something from us, Wolf King Alba?”
“From you? Of course not, not from you,” Snow Wolf King Alba replied as she walked towards princess Leticia. Doram and Garas who was standing behind the princess clenched their swords tightly, waiting to engage the moment the magic beast showed any hostile intention.
However, surprisingly the Snow Wolf King only brushed past the Princess and walked towards the huge tree where the twin Geminin Sisters are standing causing them to frown and become extremely vigilant.
“Unfilial pup! How dare you not pay respect to your mother!?” Suddenly the Silver Wolf looked up and roared in anger.
The wolf king’s angry gaze stared at the youth sitting on the branch.
Rain was startled at being yelled out by the wolf king. What?!
Pup? Mother?
What’s going on?
Princess Leticia’s eyes widened in shock! What!?
All the people in the area stared at the scene in shock and confusion. What did it say? Mother?
“You finally return after a long time and yet you didn’t even look for me? You unfilial pup, do you want to be bitten to death!?”
Rain turned her around him trying to find the person the wolf king was talking to and still couldn’t anyone. “What? Are you talking to me?” he asked, dumbfounded while pointing at himself.
“What are you talking about? Did you forget who found you and bring you here? Didn’t you remember the smell of your mother! You unfilial pup come down!” The Snow Wolf King casually swings its front leg and in a blink of an eye, the huge tree with a trunk as wide as two adult’s waist was cut down extremely easily.

“Waaah!!”
Rain screamed while falling down into the ground and if not for the Werebat immediately carrying her while flying, he would certainly fall heavily. Although breaking bones was not certain but, pain is still pain!
All the people didn’t know how to respond to this situation and could only stare at silver wolf king and the youth with a complicated expression. They didn’t know what to do!
“What, what are you talking about!!?” Rain asked as he stared at the Wolf King’s eyes. “You probably mistook me for someone else!”
Although he doesn’t know her mother but she would certainly not be a wolf!!
As Rain maintained eye contact, he took one step back, and the wolf, too, took one step forward.
If he took two steps backward, it took two steps forward. And if he took three steps backward, it took three steps forward.
“Are you an idiot?” The Silver Wolf King scowled. “As if I mistook the smell of my child for someone else!”
“But I can’t possibly be a child of a wolf!!” Rain’s mind snapped and he shot upward, standing in front of the huge silver wolf king and snarled angrily, “Look at me, I’m a child of man! A handsome man!! How can I possibly be a child of a wolf!? Learn your biology you goddamn self-proclaimed mother!!”
The surrounding people nodded from Rain’s statement. That was right! He has a point! Though whether the handsome part was a bit exaggerating but that doesn’t matter right now…
“This unfilial son!” Alba growled angrily. She suddenly raised her right paw, scaring Rain. However, contrary to what Rain had expected, Alba suddenly pointed the paw to his chest.
When Rain looked down to where he was pointing, there was a faint, transparent light escaping from his chest and revolve at the top of Alba’s beautiful white coated paw.
“Wha, what are you?!” Rain was extremely scared, feeling something taken from him. But Alba only looked at Rain and said, “Look,”

Rain stared at the white light and saw that it was not a ball of light but an image of a wolf’s head howling in the sky.
“You stupid son. What is this? Why is it inside you then?” Alba’s mocking voice rang out. “This is the mark I left inside of my child then if you are not my child then why is it inside of you, huh?”
“Eh?” Rain stared at the mark without blinking. No way…
At this moment, Sylphy’s voice suddenly rang out. [ I see. So that’s what it was. Now I know why master seems to have a good attraction to any kind of monsters. ]
What?
[ That is the Mark used by many pack monsters to show they are the members of the same group! And if that was put into a human, it would make the affinity of any human towards monsters increased as they felt intimacy from that mark! ]
… …
[ And most importantly, it was a mark created by a Wolf King. She might have done it so that you will not be attacked by monsters so easily when you meet one… a thoughtful parent~ ]
“How is that possible?”
“I also want to ask that, wolf king!” At this moment, Princess Leticia walked over to them while wearing a perplex expression. Behind her was her were Doram, Garas, and the twin Geminin Sisters who was looking at him with a complicated expression. Is he a child of a monster?
“That youth is from the Aquarian Clan… how is it possible he was your child?” Are the Aquarian now doesn’t differentiate between human and monster? Are they that hardcore?
As a great noble of the Kingdom, Princess Leticia can’t help but felt complicated by that kind of thought. It can still be acceptable if it was a humanoid monster but a magical beast?? Most of all a wolf…? That is somewhat disturbing!!
“Of course, I’m the one who found him and so he was mine, isn’t that obvious?” But the Wolf King’s answer was beyond their expectations.
“What? You mean you’re not my biological mother?” I never know I was actually Mowgli?
Rain, realizing that he had misunderstood being a biological son of a wolf – although it was fine, but it will certainly leave a very complicated feeling!
“Was that important?” Alba growled. “I found you and so you are mine.”
Finder’s keeper is actually active in this world…?
“But that is impossible!” The one who found me was Uncle Glen! Besides, in the first place, I was from another world.
“I grew in another place!! Not here!”
“Yeah, I don’t know where you were thrown to after messing with that mirror I found inside the Lair… but I was always waiting for you here, you unfilial son! And you didn’t even remember the smell of your mother!!? How can you possibly be so stupid?!”
Mirror? What is that…?
“As if I can remember a smell when I was still an infant!!!”
He tried to make sense of what he had heard. And as the truth dawned on him, he began to shake. No way! He wasn’t from Earth… but here?
“Tsk!” Seeing Rain in a daze, Alba’s expression softened – though it wasn’t clearly noticeable due to her wolfish face, she started walked towards Rain and said, “Welcome back son…”
“… …”
“… I am genuinely joyful about your safe return.”
Alba’s voice clearly felt happy as she extended her tongue and lick Rain’s cheek and then to his lips, like a mother wolf cleaning her pup.

Despite that, it is written with the intent to be enjoyable by those unfamiliar with the series as well. However, Etrian Odyssey is known for its lore being sparse and open to speculation, so much of the details provided in this story are exactly that—a fan’s speculation and personal expansion of the lore. This story was also inspired by and written as part of HereBeTreasure's Fast Food Frontpage Competition, enjoy some simple dungeon exploration plot and whatever else pops up from this.
