《Rain Revert》Chapter 20: [ New Life for him ]

Along the trip, Rain felt like the world had betrayed him.
His face depressed and seems like he was about to cry… though this was actually just him pretending, hoping that Lafetti would grow some heart and let him do what he wants.
If this was Pokemon Legends, a prompt would certainly show up like this;
Rain used hurt-puppy expression!
It was super effective!
Lamias now felt pity and would cuddle you lovingly.
Indeed, aside from Lafetti who was still wearing her stern expression – though she actually felt down inside of her, all Lamias who was staring at Rain felt they did something wrong.
The group all the way was silent as if mourning something…
The one who broke the strange atmosphere was Zarda who instead of feeling sympathy was feeling amused from the current situation.
“Why are you having that kind of expression? You should raise your spirit; we’re going to a fight.”
“I’m not feeling down,” Rain replied defiantly. “Just my heart is bleeding right now. Look at my wrists, it had shackles on it like I’m some sort of prisoner, my freedom taken.”
Rain presented his wrist to Zarda, of course with no shackles… just imaginary. Zarda let out a faint smile.
“Say NO to Tyranny, Say YES to Diplomacy!” He cast a glance at Lafetti but she was ignoring him big time as if she didn’t hear it at all…
Inside his mind, Rain clicked his tongue, then he muttered, a bit louder for Lafetti to hear, “ – One man, alone, betrayed by the woman he loves. But who knows, he might be the last hope in their final hour of need…”
He quoted Seymour Simmons from Transformers, trying to gain some sympathy but Lafetti continued to ignore him.
Looking at Lafetti’s aloof expression, Rain was very helpless and fell into depression again.
This was also the idea that Lafetti had come up with which she felt was the best way to handle him. No matter what he said or did, she would just give him a cold emotionless face, so that the rascal wouldn’t reach out for a yard after taking an inch*.
She would never let Rain do something dangerous that might take his life.
Zarda didn’t say anything and just watched Rain cheerfully. She was doing this since the beginning of the trip – though at first, she did it just to observe him, trying to see his real character, after all, although she liked the youth, he was still a human, a race veiled by betrayal.
Naturally, this was the reason why she let Rain come with them. Just like the saying goes, a one’s real character can be seen in their precarious situation…

But now, that had become a second priority as she watched Rain with full interest.
His every action and word greatly interest her… and if she wasn’t mistaken about humans in the human world, Rain’s bearings and character wasn’t that same one lower class humans called commoners possess but that of a higher class called nobles – possessing a certain self-respect— never touching upon self-esteem, and far removed from self-conceit – Though that was only for an ideal good nobles r those families from the past age.
Most nobles nowadays had already forgotten the teachings of the old…
Like those famous and well-known families, Rain formed his opinions boldly while expressing them gracefully. When in action, he was brave - of course, while not forgetting to be gentle. He was always anxious to please, and always willing to be pleased.
He was full of courage but free from ostentation. He is dignified but not too haughty and firm but not also impracticable…
Zarda listed all she could think upon seeing Rain’s actions up till now. And lastly, the image of Rain playing and interacting with children, talking happily with each other appeared inside her mind
– And most of all he is kind to his inferiors.
His intelligence, his character, his views, his gestures, his every movements and etiquette were strange – not that of a lower class that lack pride and grace. Even now when he was walking, his every stride, his stand - dignity, and pride can be seen from it.
… What a mysterious human. If what he said was true about his memories being lost, then his life before should be that of a noble, maybe he was a scion of a high-class family, a young master of some sort.
But never did Zarda expect that Rain was from another world… such absurdity didn’t even cross her mind even once.
As for Rain’s noble qualities, of course, it was due to him living in a society much progressive than this world. He wouldn’t act like a barbarian due to him living in a civilized world where etiquette was valued and respect is necessary though a lot of people had already forgotten this back in the modern world.
However, since Rain had received good education, he of course would be extremely different from this back country world!
But Zarda didn’t know that so her views were completely different.
His memories must not be recovered!!
At this moment, Zarda made an oath to herself that the moment there was a sign of regaining his memories, she would do anything to prevent it. Rain must not regain his memories in that way; he would stay with them and would never leave them!

Rain didn't know anything.
He had no clue of the frightening plans being formed inside Zarda’s mind that was walking behind him. He was, while was restraining his depressed feelings, was silently following behind Lafetti.
--- ---
While walking, Rain scans the surroundings. He never stopped paying attention around him.
Of course, he wasn’t frantically swiveling his head around him but his eyes were swimming towards different directions from time to time.
At this moment, Zarda who was walking contently beside Rain suddenly furrowed her brows: “They’re here!”
Rain snapped out of his thoughts and took a deep breath. Instead of panic, he calms his nerves. He then walked in front of Zarda while his hand was on the hilt of his sword.
Zarda who noticed Rain’s actions was confused. She saw Rain and noticed his body was slightly trembling but he was calm and was standing in front of her as if trying to protect her. Zarda’s lips curled into an amused smile.
Different from Rain, Lafetti draws her sword out and calmly took a battle stance.
As what Rain had expected, he wasn’t needed. When the giant ants, red dyed and with the size of a Ferrari, came rushing, all the Lamias engaged as if they were the Avengers.
Enemies number over ten.
One Lamia readied her bow and shot three arrows, two of which struck in each head of two giant ants.
Then another, their bows were then fully drawn. One after another, each arrow hit every target, some were killed instantly.
Many arrows and fireballs, water balls, wind blades… magic cast by several Lamia Magicians flew past the battlefield, striking their respective targets, raining down like missiles in world war 2!
Then some Lamias held their respective weapons and attack the enemies. Even Lafetti looked like she was dancing amidst the incoming monsters, cutting their legs, heads and piercing through their heads.
Blood the color of a beautiful sapphire rained down the walls and floor as if someone was painting the beautiful blue sky.
The fight was extremely brutal, although Rain had killed before and the enemies were not really humanoids but it still caused him to feel nauseated. His face distorted in disgust and revulsion. He almost wanted to vomit.
If the World Animal Protection saw this carnage they would certainly start raining calls to the court or endure overnights just to file lawsuits one after another.
It was really a blood-curdling scene.
Zarda who didn’t really care about the battle accidentally turned her vision towards Rain and her eyes couldn’t help but widened in surprise. As if all the blood was drained from his face, Rain’s face was extremely pale. His shoulders even trembling and his breath hurried.
Then she realized, well, indeed for them, this kind of scene was nothing new but to someone who was not used to this kind of scene would certainly find it appalling.
Zarda’s expression immediately changed and her eyes flashed the color of worry. Her tail moved and coiled around Rain and hastily pulled him towards her, completely not realizing herself, how surprising her reaction was. This was the first time she had worried for someone, not to mention for a human, a race who looked at her kind of hate and prejudice.
Rain was surprised by Zarda’s actions and turned his head.
“Calm yourself, took deep short breathes,” Her voice extremely soft, softer than usual. Her expression was extremely genial that Rain was stunned. He subconsciously nodded his head and did what she said.
“If you want to survive in this world, you need to become selfish and steal the life of others...” Zarda softly muttered. “You need to get used to it, however, you don’t need to rush and take it slow…” she flashes a small smile that Rain almost thought his heart would stop… of course this time, for an extremely different reason!
Rain was charmed and nodded his head like a robot being programmed to do so.
Not so far away from them, Lafetti who had just killed another giant reflexively turned her head to check on Rain but her eye widened in shock the moment she saw Zarda and Rain’s intimate position. Shadows immediately fell on her face as she bolted back.
But the moment she arrived already a meter away from them, she suddenly heard Zarda, “… you don’t need to feel bad or embarrassed. Feeling sick after seeing and experiencing something like this the first time was completely and utterly normal. No one felt good the first time they witness this kind of scene… no matter what kind of person they are. You will get used to it as time as passed by,”
Zarda’s expression and voice were extremely gentle that Lafetti halted her actions. She then noticed Rain’s expression, although a bit of color had already returned to his face one can still see the paleness on it.

And Simon answered their call with a single statement that nobody understood "Et super mos absit hoc hodie!" "Yah!" "WWWaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!" "AAAlllllaaaaallllaaaaallllaaaa!" "EeEEellllleeeeeelllllleeeeeeuuuuuuu!" I, too, yelled a battle cry at the top of my lungs. I had no idea what Simon had just spouted but from Camilla's giggling, I could guess that Simon thought that spouting nonsense was his way of getting out of the earlier predicament. "I forbid death upon this day," Camilla said. "What?" I answered a bit at a loss. "Ancient Latin," she replied smugly, "He said 'I forbid death upon this day'." I laughed aloud "Then he is gonna be really disappointed in everyone here," Camilla did not reply and instead took a deep breath. I did the same, zoning out everything in my surroundings. The environment became a world of electrical pulses traveling across several networks. I perceived the world through my lightning and sped my heartbeat to inhuman levels.
