《Rain Revert》Chapter 9: [ Summoning ]

Since that time, Rain began his sword training and he was getting better and better as time passed by.
His movements had also started getting smoother and fluid.
Rain had already forgotten about time in this place. For him, it wasn’t important anymore.
Trying to survive, to love and to be loved… This was what he found valuable in this hell-like hole.
“Haa!” Rain raised his voice as he raised the sword in his hand and slashed it down to the incoming Bone Eater.
Cut! He killed a Bone Eater by cutting its throat.
Since the time she had started teaching Rain how to use a sword, Lafetti predicted that Rain will become a considerably strong warrior as she was impressed by his quick learning speed. Still, it would need a long time for him to become like that.
Becoming strong doesn’t only rely on knowing how to swing a sword. Talent. Speed, agility, strength, reflexes, quick mind, resourcefulness, et cetera but most of all, Experience! One needed to hone those skills as they were extremely necessary to become a really strong warrior.
She had thought that Rain still needed to be trained more but, seeing him fighting in real combat for the first time, Lafetti could tell that her assessment fell far short.
—Strong.
No, there was something in his fighting that could not accurately be described by the word “strong”.
Something that transcended measuring scales like power, strength or speed, and left like it went into a something more.
Almost the realm of being a Genius… that was what Lafetti thought. His ferocity, his willpower, and his resourcefulness in battle make him impressive.
When he was being cornered, Rain would scrape his foot on the ground and kick the bones and clouds of dust to blind his enemy and struck in many different fatal points. Most of his attacks, aimed at the throat, head, eyes, and if not chest or abdomen.
Deadly.
He seemed to be trying to remove any excessiveness in all of his movements during the fight while looking for a comfortable position and actions to strike, hence his techniques were quick and his sword was fatal.
With an instant slash, he would repel the monster claws, and then casually retreat – hitting then running away, then when the guard was down – struck with a fatal blow. He looks like a cunning predator…
Impressive…
Although there were still some rough edges but, overall – it’s already amazing for an amateur.

Is this still the beginner she had just been teaching all this time?
He just started learning for a couple of weeks’ worth of training but he fought like it’s been months…
A mystifying human…
But is teaching him how to fight really the best choice?
Lafetti started becoming doubtful as he watched Rain’s impressive growth. There were already many Laminas in the history that was betrayed by humans. They trusted humans loved them and give them all they want but in the end, they were betrayed and hurt, worst they were killed.
That was the reason why her tribe had been living in this kind of gloomy place… away from the cursed humans.
But now she was actually treading that twisted path… would she end the same way?
A hint of sadness and sorrow flashed across her eyes. Was she really doing the right thing?
Would Rain become that very kind of human?
As Lafetti felt conflicted inside, suddenly she heard Rain’s voice calling her. She raised her head and saw him running towards her, with a huge smile on his face.
“I did it! I defeated three Bone Eaters!!” Rain cheered while pointing at the Bone Eater’s corpses as if showing his trophy to Lafetti.
With that sight, Lafetti’s complicated emotions seem to have been instantly set aside as she showed him a gentle smile. These past few days, she had been showing many expressions to Rain which made him delighted even more.
“You still need some training… only three beasts and you’re already having difficulty… you even almost died at one time…”
“I know…” Rain showed an embarrassed expression. “Next time, I will do better…”
Rain grabbed Lafetti’s hand very naturally and started walking back to their current base – the Stone Pedestal.

Rain’s status was rising steadily.
While eating the Bone Eaters he had killed like eating popcorn, Rain checked his status and felt satisfied.
[ Master, you’re becoming stronger now ]
“Right!” Rain felt proud of his growth up until now. “This is only the beginning. The more I fight, the more I eat, the stronger I become!”

[ Master is cool! ]
Rain chuckled at Sylphy’s childlike response.
Currently, Lafetti was absent since she went somewhere she didn’t say.
Well, probably returned to her tribe… that was what Rain had concluded after gathering much information. In the first place, it’s not like Lafetti was a lone Lamia in this kind of place and although she doesn’t like talking about her tribe that much, she also doesn’t hate it since she speaks of them sometimes, most were a slip of tongues…
Rain was now thinking about his fight a while ago. He recalled the mistakes he had made during the battle that almost took his life – sometimes there was some delay in his actions and movements.
It’s not like he was late for a response but even though he had already thought of what to do, sometimes his movements were just too late to react. If he wasn’t mistaken, there was a delay of about 0.02 seconds, tentative calculations and not really accurate but Rain think that it’s around those digits…
And as insignificant as it looks, it can be proven fatal during battles.
Rain grabbed the sword that was given to him by Lafetti. It was a bit rusted on the edges and hilt but it was still sharp.
He stood up and started practice swinging it again.

Somewhere in the world , in a big kingdom named [ Delouria ], something funny was going on.
BOOM!!
An explosion echoed from the sky.
---No, this wasn't any figure of speech nor an imagination.
The sky truly had exploded!
A destructive like energy spread out from the sky. At this moment, waves of ripples surfaced in the empty air. The ripples spread and passed through the towering peak of a mountain in the clouds not far away.
Right now, the originally clear blue sky was like the surface of a pond. And the waves that just happened were like the ripple of water waves.
As if Gods were descending to the mortal world, not a second later, something flashed brightly and a pillar of golden light shone down from the sky towards the Kingdom’s palace.
After a few moments, the pillar of light gradually disappeared only leaving a circular-looking disk encompassing a distance of several kilometers. What was strange was that this disk-like thing looked like a huge crest. At the center of it were two swords crossing from each other while a serpent was encircling it.
The disk finally started to fade until it disappeared into the clear blue sky as if nothing happened.
This extremely magical phenomenon awes every people who had seen it and some even kneeled in reverence.

Inside the Palace.
"Oh, please Heroes, please save our world!"
A beautiful girl dressed in a white dress called. Her voice soft and very feminine.
The strange magic circle engraved on the floor let out a dazzling light and their shine became stronger in response to her call.
However, the light gradually quiets down as it slowly faded.
Not only the beautiful girl but the others with her were also thought that the summoning was a failure.
However, at that time a flash engulfed the surroundings that made everyone present unable to open their eyes.
After the light calmed down and disappeared, four no, rubbing their eyes, the Six people became there Five people and one animal. What more surprising is that the animal beside one of the girls looked like a lion.... no, clearly it should be a lion.
After looking around, the lion suddenly bared its fangs towards them while standing in front of the girl as if it was protecting her.
"Eh? Wh-What is this? What happened?"
From what they saw, there were two boys and three girls. The boys were cautiously looking around as if they didn't saw the lion beside them with a surprised expression.
The girls were also surprised and their bodies stiffened in shock---except for one lone girl which was behind the lion. As soon as she saw the people around, her countenance changed and became alert.
Her gaze filled with hostility and her cold sharp eyes were like daggers, waiting to cut them down if they do even a little bit.
However, the people present didn't notice the girl's expression because she as covered by the huge body of the lion.
The beautiful girl was the first one who managed to recover from her shock first as she slowly approached the new arrivals.
Her body was slightly trembling whenever she saw the lion growling towards her but she still endured it and steeled herself.
"Please save our kingdom, oh heroes from another world!"
