Chapter 1: [ Misfortunate Accident ]

“Whenever I'm late, could you please do the opening preparations?” A man in his thirties asked Rain.

“Sure, no problem. But is it really okay to give a key to a student who only works part-time? There's no guarantee I won't do anything bad, right?” Rain answered. He was still 16 years old, still a high school student, only working due to financial problems.

He was working at a restaurant and at the same time, a bar called [ Heaven’s Rest ] as an apprentice chef/waiter/ and sometimes bartender of a friend he had known for a long time.

He was an orphan, discarded when he was a child inside a trash bin, fortunately, some kindly found him and took him to the authority, which put him in a small time orphanage.

He had a good life but when he entered high school, he decided to separate and lived for himself to become independent.

As means of supporting his life and studies, Rain work on many establishments. Due to that he somehow became learned in many life skills, works and such…

“Hoho. I'm sure Rain won't do those kinds of things, right?” The man in front of him was Glen Robert, the owner of [ Heaven’s Rest ].

He had met him since way back when he was still in the orphanage.

Glen was one of the Sponsors of the Orphanage… he was well-known in this area as a kindly and generous person.

Faced with the dashing smile displayed by Glen, Rain felt rather anxious and unsettled.

Such responsibility had made him rather nervous at the same time happy for the trust.

“Still, aren't there university kids who work part-time as shopkeepers too? There were also regulars…”

“Nah, you’re good enough. I trust you more than them…” He answered.

Rain couldn’t do anything and just accept it.

After which, while carrying his bag pack, Rain made sure that the shop was already locked tight that even a rat can’t find his way in when he left.

In the way, he saw a convenience store and decided to drop by for a bit and bought some cup noodles which would become his next lunch/dinner for several days.

It’s a bit unhealthy but… it’s the fate of a poor man.

*Ding! Dong!* The electronic sliding door sounded when Rain left the store, with him bringing a plastic bag filled with cup noodles and some energy bars.

While walking towards his rundown apartment, which he had managed to acquire for only a cheap price ( Due to rumors of some not-good-to-hear stories ), Rain spotted a black colored snake slithering through the street. He noticed it despite the darkness because of its shining under the dim streetlight.

Rain was startled at the unusual animal that shouldn’t be seen in the center of the city.

As Rain was trying to pretend that he didn’t see anything,

“Woah!”

Suddenly in front of him, a black cat jumps out causing some of his cup noodle’s to spill out from the plastic. Its golden feline eyes stared at him while growling.

“Easy girl,” Rain mumbled as he slowly picked up to scattered cup noodles.

*Kwak! Kwak!* Following the sounds, Rain noticed a group of black birds hovering above him. Although because of the Darkness which the dim street light wasn’t helping at all, he couldn’t see quite clearly, still Rain could recognize those types of birds as easy as recognizing panties over briefs.

Just from those cry, anyone would immediately know that they were none other than; Crows.

“Full list of unlucky signs ey?” Rain couldn’t help but smile bitterly.

What’s with this day? He had noticed since this morning, he was rather unlucky.

Stepping in dog crap just after leaving the house, almost run down by a car, scolded by the teacher for things he hadn’t done which were in fact was his seat mate’s fault, as well as sliding on the floor when he was working, being splashed with water when two lovers were having a quarrel… haa, what a weird day…

As Rain was sighing bitterly from his misfortunes while turning right, he hasn’t discovered the incoming doom.

He only noticed when he was hit by the light and before he could react, he felt as if he was rammed by something and was sent flying…

On his blurry vision, all he could see was a front face of a truck with its lights glaring at him…

Truck-sama?! That was the last thing that crossed his mind before losing consciousness.
