《Emerald》63

The day of Fleur and Bills wedding, was a bright sunny day.
The wind was warm and light.
I wore one of Ginnys dresses, which was light green.
It was long and tight fighting.
After Hermione and I got ready, we walked into the tent with Harry and Ron.
People were talking and drinking, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Hermione and Ron walked away to talk with others.
"Well, hello." A soft voice said from behind us.
We turned to see Luna smiling, accompanied by her father.
"Hi, Luna." Harry said.
I gave her a hug.
"How are you?" I asked her.
"Very well, I can see your still upset about that blonde boy." Luna replied.
"Luna, dear..." her father hushed her.
"It's alright." I laughed.
I swear Luna could read minds.
"When I choose too." Luna spoke to me as he father talked to Harry.
Harry listened to him, as he glanced at the chain around her father's neck.
"Come now, father. Harry doesn't wish to speak to us anymore. He's just too kind to say it." Luna took her father by his arm, and led him away.
"I guess it's just us then." I looked at Harry.
His attention was directed across the room, he wasn't listening to me.
"I'll be right back." Harry quickly said, walking into the crowd of people.
I sighed to myself, as I walked over and grabbed a glass of champagne.
"I guess it's just.... me." I told myself sipping my drink.
The last time I was dressed up, I was at a party with Draco.
I hated how everything made me think of him.
Everything pulled my mind back to Draco.
I couldn't help it, he was under my skin.
A loud crash interrupted my thoughts.

Glass and decorations flew too the ground, as deatheaters entered at every side.
People screamed and ran, as the lights went out.
"Hermione!" I yelled, as I pushed through people.
She grabbed my hand, and pulled me close to her.
Ron and Harry ran to us, putting their hands on ours.
Hermione flashed us out.
We appeared in a an alley way.
"Where are we?" I asked.
Hermione took her bag off of her shoulder.
"Down town London... somewhere..." Ron replied.
"What about the others? What about our things?" Harry frantically asked.
"Shhhh," Hermione hushed him as she dug in her bag, "We can't go back. Everyone there probably flashed out and went into hiding. I've had our stuff packed for weeks now... it was only a matter of time."
Hermione pulled out a set of clothes for each of us, and we quickly changed out of our wedding attire.
We walked down the street a few blocks, and into a small coffee shop.
"What can I get for you?" The woman asked us.
"Cappuccino, please." Hermione said.
"Same." Harry replied.
"Yeah, what they're having." Ron said.
"Regular cup, with some cream." I smiled at her.
She walked to the back, and began making our drinks.
Two men walked in, I watched them as the other three talked amongst themselves.
I had a weird feeling about them.
I gave Harry a little nudge with my elbow.
He turned his head to them, just as one of them pulled their wand out of their pocket.
"Get down!" I yelled.
The two turned around, and casted at us.
The four of us ducked under the table, just in time.
"Stupefy!" I casted at one of them, knocking them back and to the ground.

Harry casted at the other, he too fell back.
The lady walked out with our drinks.
Once the sight of the destroyed room hit her, she dropped everything in her hands.
"Leave! Go, now!" Hermione yelled at the woman.
She frantically ran out of the back off the room.
"I'll look the door, and close the blinds." I replied stepping over the rubble.
"I'll get the lights." Ron said pulling something out of his pocket.
He flicked it open, and the light from the room went into the thing in his hand.
"Where did that come from?" I asked as I locked the door.
"Dumbledore, the guy came the other day and gave us stuff from his will." Ron smiled.
"Yeah, I got the golden snitch that I caught." Harry, said coming over to me to help me with the blinds.
"Where was I?" I asked.
"Sleeping, which reminds me..." Hermione dug in her bag.
She pulled out a small gold chain, and a set of small jars.
"This is what Dumbledore had for you." Hermione stuffed them back into her purse.
We quickly turned to the two men who were laying on the floor.
"Not very smart, are they." I said pushing ones face with my foot.
"Let's ki-" Ron began to say pulling his wand out.
"No!" Harry cut him off.
"Suppose he did Mad Eye?!" Ron argued.
"We will just wipe their memories. Quickly, we need to get out of here." Hermione told him.
Ron casted Obliviate on them, before we flashed out of there.
She brought us too the 12 Grimmauld Place.
We entered quickly, and went into a room.
We laid down for the night.
"Hermione, can you get me that gold chain if you could?" I asked her.
She dug through her bag.
When she found it, she tossed it to me.
As I placed it around my neck, I noticed a small loop and clasp.
"What's this part for?" I asked Hermione.
She reached her hand out and examined it.
"Don't know, the only things there for you were the jars and the chain." She whispered.
She turned her back to me, and closed her eyes.
The jars were very small, only about an inch tall.
That's when the idea popped into my head.
I pulled the small jar of Peruvian Instant Darkness Power out of my pocket.
Just as I thought, it latched onto the necklace.
"Perfect, now I can't loose it." I told myself as I laid down.
"Shhhh." Someone hushed me.
"Don't hush me, I wasn't being loud." I laughed.
"Who are you talking to?" Harry asked me.
"What do you mean?" I sat up quickly, "one of you shhhhh'ed me."
The others sat up, and Ron let the light into the room with his illuminator.
"That wasn't us." Hermione spoke nervously.
"Someone else is here." I began breathing heavily.
I could hear small footsteps in a cabinet across the room.
I stood up quickly and rushed over.

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
