"What?!" Draco's smirk quickly fell off his face, as he stared at me with disbelief.
"Take the ring off of my finger, Malfoy." I hissed.
"I've got the same one, and they aren't coming off." Draco raised his right hand up, and wiggled his fingers in the air.
He had a new silver ring on his middle finger.
It had the same, small engraving on it.
"Take them both off." I begged.
"Sorry, they don't come off. I guess... we're both stuck with this little piece of silver wrapped around our fingers, for the rest of eternity.... and then some." The smirk appeared on his face again.
"Lies," I crossed my arms over my chest, "if we both say we don't want the promise anymore... they will disappear."
"Then, say it." Draco cocked an eyebrow at me.
"I..." I began to say, but trailed off.
I couldn't break the promise, Draco knew that.
"You go, first." I managed to say.
"No, I'm not breaking it." Draco shook his head.
"Why not?" I grabbed his bicep.
"I don't want to break it, you want break it either. You are scared, just as much as I am, of being alone." Draco spoke sternly and deeply, as he pulled his arm away from my grip.
He was right, and he knew it.
I hated that Draco was right.
I quickly turned away from him, and walked quickly from the library.
"Hey! Wait!" Hermione yelled, as she ran to catch up with me.
"What?" I sighed, as she walked at my side.
"What promise did you make?" She asked.
"That in the end, we would still have each other. Even if we weren't on good terms, we would at least have someone. If shit really went down, Hermione. Like if the world was ending. That was our promise, we would find each other no matter what." I ran my hands through my hair.

My heart pounded, it felt like my throat was tight.
"You couldn't break it, could you?" Hermione asked softly, as we entered the Gryffindor commodore.
"No, I couldn't. He wouldn't break it either. " We entered our room.
I sat down on the floor, and pulled my knees up to my chest.
"You both care about each other too much, and you both are too scared to admit it. Dinner is in about an hour, I'll give you some alone time." Hermione left the room before I could even reply.
...
"So... I broke up with her?" Ron asked us, as the four of us ate dinner in the Great Hall.
"Yup." Hermione quickly replied.
Across the room, Katie stood up from her table.
She had gotten out of the hospital wing weeks ago. She's glad to be alive after how powerful that hex was.
Harry quickly stood up from the table, and walked over to her.
"This can be good." Hermione whispered to me.
Over the chatter of the room I could hear her say, "I don't know who did it, harry."
Katie quickly stopped talking, as her eyes drifted straight ahead of her.
They were locked on Draco, who stood there with fear.
His forehead dripped in sweat, and his face turned red.
He looked like he was going to cry.
Draco quickly ran out of the Great Hall.
Harry ran after him.
"This can be good either." I quickly got up from the table.
"Where are you going?" Hermione grabbed my arm.
"You're telling me, that both of them running out of here after one another... isn't going to end bad?" I asked her.
Hermione blinked quickly, as she thought.
"You go after them, Ron and I will find a teacher." The three of us got up, and ran.

I followed their loud crashes and screams, to the boys bathroom.
As I opened the door, spells were flying back and forth between them.
The sinks were all exploded, and there was rubble from the walls everywhere.
Water began pooling at the floor.
The bathroom was completely destroyed.
"Stop it! Both of you, stop it!" I yelled as I stepped into the bathroom.
They both ignored me as they continued casting.
"Sectumsempra!" Harry casted at Draco.
Draco flew to the floor.
Draco laid there, slightly breathing.
Blood began pouring out of his chest, soaking into his white shirt.
"Harry!" I yelled, rushing in.
Harry looked at me with wide eyes.
I ran over to Draco, and went to my knees.
Draco cried, as he was barely able to breath.
Blood continued to gush out of the wounds of his chest, with every beat of his heart.
"HARRY, WHAT DID YOU DO!" I yelled from my chest.
My voice echoed throughout the room.
Harry didn't say anything, he stood there in disbelief.
I ripped open Draco's shirt, and used my hands to put pressure on the wounds.
Blood still poured out of Draco.
"Stay with me, Draco!" I begged him, as I began to cry.
I can't let another one of my friends die.
Snape, Hermione, McGonagall, and Dumbledore busted through the door.
They all stood in shock.
"Some one help, please!" My cries ripped through the air.
Snape quickly walked over.
"Get up, and step back." Snape ordered me.
I quick got up to my feet, and stepped several feet behind Snape.
"No! Don't leave me!" Draco managed to cry out, lifting his hand in my direction.
Snape went to his knees, and pulled his wand out.
"Vulnera Sanentur." Snape casted over Draco.
The wounds began closing, and the blood stopped pouring.
Draco began taking deep breaths.
"Snape, take Draco to the hospital wing. McGonagall and Ms Granger, repair the bathrooms. Ms Stewart and Mr Potter, I will take you to my office." Dumbledore waved us out the door.
We followed him to his office, Dumbledore pulled me in to talk to him first.

Yancy Lazarus—bluesman, gambler, future world-class mage and fix-it man—is just a dumb, unlucky kid serving with the 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines in Vietnam. With just a few weeks left to go until Yancy gets shipped back to the States, he’s just trying to keep his head down and avoid a body bag—no mean feat in Nam. But when his squad is tasked with conducting a routine patrol deep in enemy territory, everything goes to nine kinds of hell, and he quickly sees his chances at survival slipping away. When the radio operators start to pick up some funky, dirty ol’ blues all the way out in the backcountry, it’s a nice change of pace. At least until the men in Yancy’s squad start losing their minds, turning on each other with murderous intent as the music works its deadly power within them. Convinced it’s some kind of new psychological warfare initiative, the squad leader forces the men to push deeper and deeper into the Vietnamese jungle, obsessed with locating the music’s source. What they find, however, isn’t some new technology, but an ancient spirit awoken by the terrible war. Even worse, the music is changing Yancy too, awakening something buried inside of him. Only one thing is certain, nothing is ever going to be the same.See how it all began … *** PRAISE FOR SIREN SONG:Hunter's writing is as low-down, gritty, and insidious as the blues Yancy Lazarus loves.
