《The Rude Time Stopper》Chapter 138 Split Image

-Can you tell me something about the imperial family ?
I asked, feeling the strong wind brushing by my sides as my hands tightly embraced scar's soft stomach supporting myself to not fall off while my head was also leaning on her warm back.
A very pleasant odor was entering my nostrils coming from scar's body,at first I thought it was some kind of perfume, but I slowly realized that the pleasant smell was actually her body odor.
Scar who was riding the lizard for us didn't need to fully concentrate on the road since it was straight without any curves, she could speak and ride at the same time, but from her shudder I could still feel the tense atmosphere she had inside her body making me a bit worried.
-The current imperial family has only 4 members the emperor, his younger brother, his elder son the late crown prince and the current princess serath the next heir to the crown...
Scar started explaining giving me a lot news about the imperial family telling me things that I should need to know right now and things that were good to keep in mind either way scar was very informed about this topic because she was indeed someone who used to live by giving information to others.
From what I gathered from her,I figured out that the emperors younger brother and sera came back to this world a few days ago. No,one seems to really know where they had been gone all this time the emperor himself isn't giving details either, but the general idea people had was that these two were imprisoned somewhere and the emperor finally figured out where they were located and saved them on the spot, the princess had been gone missing for a while 4 to 5 years actually which adds up with sera's story when she was abandoned by the dragons and then sheltered by the dwarves, the story sera told me about only has a half truth in it as she claimed that she was an ordinary dragon who was exiled because she had no pride as a dragon, but that obviously isn't what really happened and looking back I remember clearly that she said that a red dragon had come and destroyed the town of the dwarves because he was searching for her...for what exactly ?
Sera wasn't exiled, from the history scar just told me about I could at least deduce that much and add my own theory into the mix to create an answer for myself.
Sera is a royalty of this empire, for some reason sera ran away one day and when she couldn't run anymore and got exhausted the dwarves showed up and gave her a helping hand her foster parents to be exact.Living with them for an entire year until the red dragon arrived...and burned down the village.
Now the question is why did the dragon burn the village ? I understand he was probably there to reclaim the princess, but why didn't he just say who sera is and taken a more peaceful approach ?
I also understand that dragons have anger issues, but for someone who is supposed to recover a princess I am expecting some kind of discreetness and not burning a entire village...
Then again if you think about it,I hadn't met any dragons in this world, the people here are all from different races it is a fey realm after all maybe the dragons are rare or just keep to themselves which is why I can't judge their nature without knowing how they act here because I didn't meet one in the first place...

Either way I know that sera ran for some reason...now looking at it from another perspective I could slowly see missing links to this puzzle...Sera ran and she didn't run because she was exiled,no the reason she left was probably because...
-She was hunted...
I muttered to myself closing my eyes as the scenario started to play inside my head very so slowly with it some previous questions starting to get answered and why the red dragon didn't use a peaceful approach,it was to kill sera of course a royalty.
-Did you say anything ?
Scar asked she probably heard my small mutter and thought that I was calling out to her.
-No,its just that I found a few answers to this puzzle, mainly about my friend sera
I replied my voice a bit solemn, scar noticed that and made a stinging gesture her back slightly curved for a second as she sighed keeping her eyes at the front, she was very stressed and most of the that stress came from me,her expression wasn't very healthy either still looking a bit haunted probably remembering that she had murdered someone with her own hands.
Before this ride,I had offered to take some rest and ride tomorrow so scar could recover some bit,but scar refused as she stated that she didn't want to be baggage of any kind and slow us down even more insisting on doing the full ride today until we reached the capital stating that she wasn't tired at all even though she was mentally exhausted which I could tell by a single glimpse,I couldn't argue with her about this since she was too stubborn to listen and trying to convince her would probably also hurt her pride some bit so I held my tongue at the time and let her do what she wanted until we would get to the capital which shouldn't be far off right now.
The sun was up we had been riding for 2 hours now and scar assured that we were close by so I wasn't all too worried about anything right now other then scar's mental health issues.
Just as I was thinking about it scar who kept a pretty sharp look on the road suddenly spoke her voice a bit hesitant as if she wanted to say something quickly, but didn't find the right words to explain it,either way she spoke.
-Say dawn...I really don't know much about you...the only thing I know is that you come from a very far place you are 15 years old a mage and seem to know the princess long enough to call her a friend and come to help her for some inexplicable reason even though I am very sure that she is safe right now...
Scar started her words seemed very stiff for some reason, but I could understand the reasoning behind it since I am very secretive about myself which is true,my conversations with scar had always something to do with her or about a few random things I wanted to know when she would ask me questions concerning myself I would answer very little or sometimes even end the topic altogether it may even be a bit hard for her to fully understand me and call me a friend because of it which is why she always hesitates when I say that she is my friend...I should be a honest right now shouldn't I ?

I thought smiling lightly as I took in a small breath and started speaking.
-My name is dawn timer I am 15 years old and live in a different realm or planet that is called earth...
With that simple introduction,I started telling scar a few things about myself such as where I came from and how I came here what kind of relation I had towards sera and why I was doing this in the first place,I also told her that I don't have any parents and live with my sister acting as a brother and a parent to her while working to earn money myself.
When scar heard that I didn't have any parents she immediately twitched hearing that a bit surprised, but also somehow anticipating such answer from me quickly calming down as I saw her face cramp for some reason.
She wasn't very surprised that I came from another world though and when I asked her why that was the case so she pretty easily listed the few ridiculous things I had done so far which were taking out mountains of gold out of my small pockets, rewinding multiple buildings and crashing them into each other, putting my hand into fire and not get burned, behead people without even moving my hand or drawing a weapon and renew clothing, heal injuries through simple thought.
I felt mildly embarrassed when she listed all of these things, because I already felt very used to them and didn't feel like they were anything special of that sort,I knew they were extraordinary and not something normal people would usually see,but when I sometimes use these powers before magicians or other arcane practitioners they never seem to be very amazed by my abilities because they use magic too, this world also had magic in it,but the people here seemed to be fairly ignorant towards magic while only a select few seem to able to wield it properly to make sense out of what they are actually doing and research it...I hadn't really had a lot of opportunities to mingle around normal people...my job mainly entitles me to protect someone from the magical community and act as a bodyguard almost all of my times goes to this and I don't have connections to the outside world of normal people other then the magical community like steward, cecilia or even illeana who is a vampire a supernatural...
I sighed...at least its not like I pretend to like being normal is it ?
While hanging onto scar's stomach I could feel her eyes directed towards me,the thought these eyes conveyed was very odd to me foreign if you had to say it,almost pity even...I didn't like it.
-Why are you looking at me that way ?
I asked my tone slowly rising with a small irritated feeling steaming up inside my stomach, scar noticed the sudden change and quickly decided to avert her eyes from me looking back towards the road in front of her trying to find the right words to convey her meaning to me.
-I...I am sorry,I just didn't know you much, knowing that you grew up like this explains a lot of things about you...your much more mature then am I am if I had to be honest, its probably because you had to grow up earlier then most of the people I had met so far which is one of the many mysteries about you that I always wanted to know, thinking "why that brat is always so straight forward" or says such things like that "even though he is a brat" deep down I always tried to find an excuse why you seem so much more decisive then I was because I felt very inferior you know and....
-Stop
I said, the tone of my voice was slightly dark for some reason and even I didn't know why it was like this, bad memories came to my mind the more scar continued to talk even though I kinda knew that she was praising me it still made me feel uncomfortable from the inside as if she was striking a old wound inside of me.
Scar seemed to have realized her actions and immediately felt ashamed of it suddenly letting go of the reins as her hands embraced me from the front entirely pressing me towards her ample soft chest while the lizard continued to stride in high speed neither of us falling off the big lizard and just staying like this.
The smell was deep into my nose and her warm chest had me caught off guard momentarily as it felt good to be embraced...it wasn't that I craved for close contact or anything,it was just that I was a bit spacing out of myself.
-I am sorry...I didn't think of what I was saying, this doesn't mean that I think less of you
She tried to console, but I didn't feel like receiving consolation and simply detached myself from her the warmth of her body sticking onto my for a few minutes until it turned cold again.
-Forget it scar, continue riding I am fine...
My voice was back to normal and I was able to suppress my feelings getting back to my normal self and act more rationally...I didn't want to be like this I needed to be clear and tranquil nothing else.
The look in my eyes caught scar momentarily off guard even though she wasn't holding the reins the lizard still continued to travel in its normal speed, scar didn't say anything anymore, but she still smiled at me for a small moment catching me off guard.
The split second scar smiled at me an image crossed my eyes resembling the smiling hestia...my heart soon started beating afterwards as scar took on the reins again, concentrating on the ride.
I calmed down soon after, scolding myself for a few seconds inside my mind.
She isn't her ! Don't get tricked so easily you idiot !
It was a bit hard...I was home-sick I had already traveled so far fought so long and I wanted to go home already and do my goddamn job and earn my goddamn money without anyone interrupting me or trying to kill me for some dumb reason !
I sighed...it didn't matter whoever stood in my way...I behead them !

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
