-It can't be....

I denied it tapping onto wooden table as my troubling thoughts started running through my head.

I opened my eyes,looking up towards the window I saw the refreshing ray of sun light going through giving me some warmth,I looked down again it was already the fifth or sixth time I was doing the exact same thing looking at my aquamarine ring and while doing so doubt would always start nagging my mind endlessly with a single question.

-But,what if it is true ?

It had been a single night since the incident that had occurred on my sons birthday that day a lot of things happened things that I was always prepared for and had seen coming from a mile away things that I thought wouldn't disturb me or make me question something keeping my up at night,but I was wrong...

-Is he really my son ?

The question continued to nag on me as I stared into the aquamarine ring,it was a ring that my mother gave to me when she passed away it was a ring that my father had given her as a promise that they would reunite some day a promise that my father couldn't keep,but something my mother kept dear to herself and then passed onto me telling me that family was the most important thing in the world nothing else mattered and in her dying breath I took those words to heart and lived my life thinking about these words,the ring without a doubt was magical my mother was a "Witch" not a sorcerers,but a woman that controls the powers of the dark and studies witchcraft which is a combination of science and chemistry in itself.

The ring was made by my also late father a warlock he had enchanted the ring through his own soul and made it so that it would always detect his own bloodline through a bright shine that would reveal itself on the ring,since the day my mother passed away I never once wore the ring nor did I ever tell anyone of its ability I kept it safe all these years and in one night I decided to just simply wear it just because of the nostalgia and also because I felt that I had already established everything that my mother and father would have been proud of,but then again I never expect for the ring to light up that night...not for a member of my family,but for a stranger another boy who I had barely known,but was slowly getting my attention towards because of my husband my daughter and my personal reasons..

Who is he ?

I wondered my brains clashing on themselves,I knew that the ring wasn't defect even after all these years it would never break,get old or jam something like this doesn't exist for a magical item especially for one that was forged through soul magic and on the topic I already tested it just to be sure holding the hands of my family I had seen the shine like the one the boy had...dawn was his name...and puzzling enough there was another issue..

-My son...is he my real son ?

My mind immediately rejected that idea,without a doubt joseph senjin is my son I watched over him and grew him up to this day blood or not that didn't matter he was my son and that would never change even if he wasn't biologically so...as the ring didn't shine when I held hands with him.

I took a deep breath cupping my hands onto my head I stared down again the cup of milk tea that was in front of me was becoming mild warm the sweet smell of the tea lingered making me dazed for a moment.

-lady joanna your husband has returned..

I snapped out of my thoughts as I heard henry talk to me...his presence was a surprise to me,but I caught myself and smiled turning towards him.

-Yes,thank you I don't think I need anything..

Henry smiled politely nodding his head and opening the door to leave the room.I turned back to my ring staring at it still my mind couldn't let this topic go away...I needed to know for sure..

Determined I stood up from my seat I needed to understand,I knew that something in this case was incredibly wrong and I was scared nonetheless scared that my real son for all these years was never by my side scared that anything might have happened..

-Dawn...Time..

I muttered engraving the name into my mind temporarily while searching for my husband.

================A few minutes later================

-Dad we have to get that boy on our side...

The moment I was about enter the dinning room I saw both quinn and my husband aiden sitting on their opposite ends of the table talking to each other quinn's sudden words pulled my immediate attention as I watched both of these talking to each other.

Aiden was a bit troubled for the last few days he seemed to be slightly tired,he didn't tell me what the problem was just yet so I didn't ask.

-Even if you say that,dawn seems to be determined staying where he is,steward must have done something to keep him by his side permanently something that the boy feels indebted to we can't bribe such a person quinn I have seen these kinds of people and personally speaking I am quiet surprised...he is very young talented and reliable at that too it seems steward even trusts him to protect their future heir which is pretty new to me...

Hearing their conversation I grew increasingly curious of what they were talking about I leaned closer to the door trying to listen onto them,I peeked my eyes through the slit of the door and saw quinn making a sour expression while eating.

Quinn didn't say any further,but as she was eating chewing her steak she suddenly got up from her seat and stared towards her father,it looked as if a idea had popped up inside of her when she finally spoke.

-How about we borrow him ?

Hearing these words both me and aiden made the exact same expression which was surprise.

-How ? and why would we do that ? Even if we borrow him I don't think he will come to our side...

Aiden said doubtfully sipping his coffee,but quinn continued.

-Even if so it is worth the try forcing him is a no go and bribing him also doesn't seem to be an option going to him openly and trying to win him over is also too slow so we need to have him around instead binding him to this place like steward did !

My face turned slightly doubtful hearing quinns suggestion,it was ambitious and it could maybe even work,but it could also very well be a waste of time even though I was thinking like this in the back of my head I also thought that the idea should be considered it would be a perfect chance for me verify somethings...

-Alright,then tell me how am I supposed to do that ?

Quinn smiled again.

-I remember that you once said that steward owed you one how about you ask him and see if he agrees to it ? From what I know steward is a very honorable man he always holds his word everyone In the community knows it and its also a reason why most of the people respect such a person like steward it is already bad enough that he works at the greenwood house,but if dawn also becomes their asset in the future things will get problematic the power may also even shift from the position the things dawn can do are very mysterious coupled with the fact that there are another two powerful individuals that follow him around makes him worth the try,on top of that there is another thing that is highly intriguing about him...

Aiden raised his eyebrows for a moment I knew that the he was really thinking about the idea telling quinn to continue with his hand gesture.

-Yesterday when the party was over I decided to look closer into dawn timer the result was pretty obvious,but also very weird since what they reports say about him are very vague on top of that it makes him look like he is pretty ordinary which we already established him not to be,anyways seeing the report I immediately knew that it had to be fake I traced it down from where the information came,but I couldn't find the one who had made the info making me believe that it was the greenwood family who had forged the identity of dawn...

My heart skipped a beat.

-Even if they forged the identity it doesn't mean we can't find anything about him...

Aiden commented now very interested it seemed,quinn in returned nodded her head,but her expression told me that there was a problem.

-You see what father is saying is right,there is no such person who is that clean enough to erase or hide himself without leaving any trace,but the problem here is that...dawn can't be found anywhere this person doesn't seem to exist...

-...

-...

There was a small moment of silence embracing the whole room both aiden and I were momentarily lost for words...

-Maybe he came from a different plane ?No...wait that is also not possible is it ?

-Yes,its true I also considered that option,but it isn't possible for such thing to happen last night I checked dawn with my own magic pulse and discovered that he doesn't have a single shred of magic inside of him the other plans are bountiful with magic it is clearly impossible for a child with not a single shred of magic to be born in such a place it proofs that dawn was indeed born on earth at least in this plane of existence where humans can be born with zero amount of magic power,but if so then there would be at least a small trace of him like for say his birth certificate or what he did the last 15 years it can't be that he was inside a box for 15 years and just like that decided to come out its just too ridiculous to be true...

Quinn said finishing her thoughts on the matter and sitting down waiting for aiden to respond his look seemed to be very conflicted and also confused my body tingled for a bit I felt impatient and I could see that aiden was leaning onto dismissing this matter...

I couldn't let go...

-Hun ? How about it try at least before you do anything it seems to be a very good plan its not like there is any other choice ?

My sudden entrance shocked both quinn and aiden,but hearing my words quinn immediately smiled seeing me jump on her side aiden still looked a bit hesitant,but sighed in the end.

-Alright...I try to arrange it,but I can't promise anything and remember I am doing this for the family...

-Yesss...

Quinn squealed happily in her seat aiden just sighed and stood up from his table walking away I kissed him on his cheek which he appreciated before he left the both of us inside the dining room.

-Mom ! I Love you so much I love you I love you I love you...thanks for jumping in I didn't think that dad would agree at first !

Quinn smiled hugging me from behind I smiled and just hugged her back...I already knew why quinn was doing this she of course wanted to be the next head of the family thats why she worked very hard from day and night trying to impress aiden this matter was also something that benefited the family and quinn was probably trying to get dawn on her side so she would have better odds on when it would be decided on who would become the next house head.

-Its okay,but remember young woman be moderate if the boy do comes here be a bit more secretive I don't want you scare him away...

Quinn snorted hearing my words which made me laugh for a moment as both of us stood like this hugging one another...

-I need to wait I guess...

I muttered feeling increasingly anxious in my heart.
