Chapter 21: VRDD

The next few months flew by.

These days, I’ve been hanging out with the girls, traveling to The-ar to consult with the Demon King, coming back here in Earth to advise Arthur, and so on.

The reason for this is naturally for the VR device that I previously announced to the heroes.

Arthur was in charge of coding, the Demon King was in charge of the rules and restrictions, and I was in charge of the magic behind the device.

It was harder than what I thought at first but we somehow managed to accomplish it.

The process is to use the tech side to create a device that will feed certain small informations to the user’s head which would allow them to see floating icons and such.

Normally, this wouldn’t work at all because the brain will unconsciously reject it. But I thought that if the brain is in a passive state, like sleeping, it will allow the informations to pass through in the form of dreams.

It’s impossible to fully make a virtual world with just that as the information needed for that will be huge.

That’s where I come along.

Using the circuit lines, I overlayed a magic circle pattern of the [Dream Lobby] magic. This will be able to bring together numerous people’s minds in one place.

Then I added another magic circle that would send their minds in The-ar.

This magic is called [Mind Projection] which magicians would usually use in order to scout dangerous places in The-ar.

After that, I added another magic circle called [Create Clone] to create solid bodies for their projection.

And lastly, loop [Create Clone] in a 5 minutes interval.

It may be hard for you all to imagine it, but just think of it like this:

Dream Lobby - Server Mind Projection - Account Create Clone - Character If the clone dies, repeat 3 to respawn in 5 minutes.

Oh, and if you’re wondering, yes, you can see your status in The-ar. But not as a floating window.

They have a magic called [Status] which anyone can do and the information gets directly sent in their brains.

As for inventory, it is considered a space magic so not everyone can do it.

Initially, I was planning on making a magic circle for them, but then I thought that it could be added for ‘realism’ if I didn't do so.

Also, as the magic circles needed mana to be activated, I engraved certain magic circles on the internal battery of the device.

The magic circle will convert half of the electricity to mana. It is my newest creation.

When I showed it to the Demon King, he threw a fuss over how much of a cheat I am and so on. It seems that there was no such magic circle that could do what I just did.

Ahem, as expected of this genius me…

After completing the device, me and Arthur went over to my mother’s company, the Connors Technologies, and gave our presentation.

When we asked for a meeting of the board, they all thought that Arthur was the one who had the presentation and that I was his assistant.

Being the CEO’s cute and handsome some, they were all smiles when they saw us.

However, immediately afterwards, their smiles froze in shock!

“Ladies and gentlemen of the board. I present to you, the world’s first, Virtual Reality Dream Device.” (Max)

With me leading the presentation, Arthur was naturally the assistant and did his job of unveiling the device.

What was revealed was a visor-like mask with an engraving on the compartment on the left side that looked very mysterious.

Just as I was going to continue talking, my mother spoke.

“H-hold on. This...is this Arthur’s creation? Max, why are you the one presenting!? Don’t cause trouble for him!” (Mother)

Towards my mother’s scolding, Arthur just weakly laughed.

“It’s not like that Aunty. This is actually Max’ invention. I only helped him a bit in the coding so I was able to become his assistant.” (Arthur)

Everyone’s eyes went wide hearing that.

Of course, if a 16 year old brat came to you and said he created the world’s first ever something, would you stay calm!?

Haha, though it was amusing to see the other’s reaction, it’s much more interesting seeing my mother’s reaction. I must say, I’ve never seen her look so shocked and surprised like that!

“...Does it work? This is just a prototype right?” (Mother)

Mother asked slowly.

Looking at the device’s design, she should know that it couldn’t possibly be a prototype. After all, prototype doesn’t need to be decorated as it’s just a test run. Yet she still asked as she still couldn’t believe that I made it.

“Nope, it’s fully functioning and ready for mass production!” (Max)

As I said that, I touch the power switch and the lights turned on.

The weird engraving on the side also glowed mysteriously.

Well, since that was the magic circle responsible for converting electricity to mana, of course it would glow.

“Now then. Can I continue my presentation? CEO mother?” (Max)

“U-un...continue...” (Mother)

Smiling, I continued.

“Well, I suppose it’s a bit boring to present this way. How about we have everyone do a live test for the VRDD?” (Max)

Arthur called in some people outside the room and sent them in. Each holding a VRDD on their hands and delivering them to everyone in the room.

“Now, everyone switch them on. It’s the button on the right side...Good. Now wear it on your heads like you would wear a mask.” (Max)

I waited for everyone to do so and continued.

“Now, everyone say: [Dream on].” (Max)

Right after I said that, a countdown was displayed in the visor’s screen in front of me.

Since the magic circle directly sends the person’s mind to another place, there was no need for any login or registration at all.

“See you all in the flipside.” (Max)

Smiling, the countdown ended and my consciousness was sucked into the magical world of The-ar.

I had already set the location beforehand to a neutral ground and already had every powers cooperate with me so when me and the rest appeared in thin air, they all happily congratulated us.

“WELCOME TO THE-AR!!!”

Aside from me, everyone else was shocked at the sight in front of their eyes. Even Arthur.

Well, it can’t be helped. Even for him, this was his first time being in this world.

“This...this...”

“I-is that a demon!?”

“That guy has animal ears!”

“Hey, her ears are long...is this...what they call an elf?”

“D-dragons!? Dragons are flying in the air!?”

The board all looked at the world before them in complete surprise. Some were frightened, some were excited. In any case, no one was calm at all!

One of the locals, a female elf, smiled at them.

“Greetings, otherworlders! This world of ours is called The-ar! There are beings of different races that lives here. Humans, elves, dwarves, demons, dragons, and so on. I hope you all enjoy your experience in this world of ours!”

“O-ouu...Are you an AI? It can’t be, you look so real...how is this possible?”

A board member asked.

Since I already warned everyone beforehand, none of them were offended and they actually thought it was funny when hearing it first hand.

The elven girl laughed sweetly.

“Haha, Sir Max informed us that you’ll be asking that. But what is this AI about? He didn’t tell us about it.”

“...AI. Artificial Intelligence. Simply put, an invention of mankind that can think for itself. Are you an AI?”

“Oh, like a golem. No, I’m an elf. How about you, sir? You look like a normal human. Are you an AI?”

“I...I’m human...”

The board member didn’t know how to answer so he just said it like so.

To him, he just realized that the AI I created was simply wonderful...or maybe he was just smitten by the elf’s beauty. Who could know?

I laughed and shot a dazzling magic in the sky.

They all went ‘ooohh’ as they saw release magic. Haha, even my mother’s doing it.

Soon, figures came flying over and stopped beside me.

“Let me introduce you all. Beside me are this world’s leaders.” (Max)

“The Demon King, Lucifer.”

“The Angel King, Samael.”

“The Elf Queen, Aer-zella”

“The Dwarf King, Kulgrur”

“The Werebeast King, Beowulf”

“The Dragon Queen, Ignis”

“The Human Queen, Elizabeth.”

Upon being introduced, they all smiled and bowed slightly.

While still in shock, I introduced mother and the rest.

“Everyone, this are the important people of Connors Technologies. And my mother, Maria Connors.” (Max)

“Hoho, mother hmm? Hehe, how about I also introduce all your gra- gufoh!?” (Lucifer)

Just as this idiot was about to mention my children, I sent him back to hell with a kick.

A huge crater formed at the spot where Lucifer stood. The other demons and my demon children at the side stood there quiet in fear.

I smiled, and turned back to my mother and the others.

“Any questions?” (Max)

“...No...” (Mother)

“Right then! Shall we begin the mass production?” (Max)

Mother and the members of the board all looked at each other.

There were no words that needed to be said.

They all knew one thing.

We’re going to be rich!

After bidding farewell to the other world, we all logged out and continued the discussion offline.

“When we log-in, our bodies are left defenseless outside. This is a problem no?”

“The device uses the person’s dream to transfer the mind to a virtual world. Naturally, if you are waken up with a loud noise or was shook hard, then you will be forced to log out. The device also monitors your body through neuro electricity so you will be notified if a new foreign object touches your body. Shall we try? Of course, it is always better not to use the device outdoors.” (Max)

“How long is it’s internal battery?”

“It can last for a week if run nonstop.” (Max)

“What’s that design on the side?”

“Oh, that. That’s my sign. I was thinking of including that to all the things I made from now on.” (Max)

“How about the gore level. Surely when you kill monsters, blood will flow right?”

“There is an option to turn off the gore and would replace it with mosaics.” (Max)

“...Is sex also possible?”

“...Well, yes...” (Max)

“...”

“...But you can’t have children...” (Max)

“...Approved!”

“Oi.” (Max)

“...Can’t we do something about this, Max? Is it even necessary?” (Mother)

“...Well, I can make the guy’s dicks disappear.” (Max)

“...”

“...Or the girls’-” (Max)

“...Let’s not do that.” (Mother)

“Yes...” (Max)

And so, my device was approved.
