Chapter 8: Rescue Operation

As the daughter of Ben Drew, the current CEO of Drew Enterprises, Ina is constantly protected and isolated among the common people.

The Drew Enterprises is a huge company with branches and connections all across the globe. Naturally, as the CEO, Ben and his family are constantly targeted by opposing companies or crime gangs.

Just yesterday, Ina was almost kidnapped by a criminal organization known as [Purgatory]. They’re not a big group but still bigger than street gangs.

It’s not that Ina didn’t have a security detail. Actually, she has and they were only undercover so as to not isolate her further amongst her peers. It’s just that the actions of the criminals are too normal and natural. Besides, Max had also intervened naturally, making them think nothing is wrong so they didn't appear in the end.

Still, they were reprimanded severely by Ben afterwards and he immediately hired more bodyguards.

However, he was too hasty in hiring them, giving the enemy an opportunity to sneak some of their men that isn’t well known, creating an opportunity to easily kidnap Ina.

Right now, they are in an abandoned building a couple of blocks away from the mall Max is currently in.

Ina is tied to a chair with her mouth covered. Inside the room there are three men guarding. One of which is talking to someone on the phone.

“Boss, this girl’s weird...there’s some kind of forcefield around her...”

“Shush! It’s probably some high-tech defense mechanism or something, I’m sure it won’t last long now quiet down...Hehe, ah Sir Drew, did you see the picture? Look, your precious daughter is in our hands. You have 5 minutes to send $5 billion to the account I sent you. But if I were you, I’d do it earlier. Hehe, you’re daughter’s quite beautiful for a kid. Unfortunately, one of my men are into that kind of thing and I don’t know how long I can hold him back.” (Boss)

“Boss! Just let me do her! We only need her alive right? I’ll make sure not to break her!”

[[Don’t! Alright, alright! I’ll send it okay!? But $5 billion is too much! I can’t send it all immediately!]] (Ben)

“Tsk tsk tsk, we can’t have that. You only have two choices here. Give us the money, or your daughter will pay the price!” (Boss)

“Wow, as expected from a third rate villain. Always being so unreasonable.” (???)

“Who!?” (Boss)

The boss and the other two men were startled as they heard another person’s muffled voice inside the room.

They looked around but didn’t see anyone.

One of them immediately pulled a gun and started pointing at things.

“Where are you bastard!?”

“Hey, that’s rude. We just met and you’re already calling me bastard? Alright, then I’ll call you shit.” (???)

“Show yourself or I will kill this bitch!” (Shit)

It seems Shit is an intelligent person and knew that the man had come to save Ina so he immediately used her as hostage and pointed the gun towards her but...she’s no longer there! Even the chair was gone!

“Fuck! Where did that girl go!?” (Boss)

“Pop quiz! Question #1: Who am I?” (???)

“Huh? The fuck do you mean motherfucker!?”

“Oh, are we name calling now? Alright, then you will be Dick and your boss is Pussy. Oh oh! Let’s change Shit to Ass!” (???)

“Fuck you!” (Dick)

Dick no longer cared and started shooting at things.

Hearing the gunshots, the man on the other end of the phone was scared silly.

[[W-what’s happening!? Is my daughter still alive!?]] (Ben)

“Hello Mr. Drew. You’re daughter is safe. Right now, Dick is shooting like an idiot for no reason.” (???)

“Wha-!?” (Pussy)

Hearing the mystery man suddenly answer the call, the Boss, rather, Pussy looked at his hands and found out that his phone has already been taken!

This made him secretly be afraid. After all, he didn’t even notice that his phone was taken!? If this man instead tried to stab him...the result is obvious.

Looking over at the source of the voice, they found a man wearing jet black leather coat, jet black pants, and jet black motorcycle helmet.

If one looked from afar, he would look like a shadow of a man instead. The jet black color of his clothes and helmet are too mysterious as it didn’t seem to reflect light at all! It even looks like it’s absorbing light!

“Ah, wait. Can you hold on for a sec? I still have to deal with these guys. Ah, I’ll leave this open so just wait.” (???)

The masked man put down the phone on the ground and turned towards Pussy, Dick, and Ass.

“Right, where were we? Question #1: Who am I? Sorry if I’m being talkative. Y’see, I have all this power and no one that could be considered as an equal opponent so it gets pretty boring~ Now answer.” (???)

The three dumbly looked at each other then Ass replied with sweat dripping on his forehead.

“Uhh, are there choices?” (Ass)

The masked man was quiet, seemingly surprised and amused at his reply.

“Fine, I’ll give you choices!” (???)

“Fuck! That can’t be it! And why are they all old comic heroes!?” (Dick)

“What can I say? I’m a man out of time. Hail Hydra!...You didn’t get the reference?...Captain America? He was actually Hydra all along...No?...Whatever, that was a shitty plot twist anyway. Then, these are the real choices! Choose wisely!” (???)

Hearing the choices, the three gulped down. The answer was obvious, but they still didn’t dare to say it.

“...Power Ranger Black?” (Pussy)

“Bzzt! Wrong answer! I’m De-...no wait...Nightmare! Hn, that sounds better.” (Nightmare)

That wasn’t even in the choices!!! And did you just suddenly change it!?

Unfortunately, the three can only retort this in their minds as Nightmare had already closed in and touched Pussy’s head.

Suddenly, Pussy trembled and started hysterically screaming before fainting with foam in his mouth.

The next moment, Nightmare’s two hands touch the other two’s head as well and the same thing happened.

Nightmare sighed as he looked at the three men fainted on the ground then turned back to where Ina was.

He waved his hand and suddenly, Ina reappeared, seemingly shocked at what just happened.

Nightmare walked over, picked up the phone and started untying Ina.

“Mission complete. The three idiots are down for the count. Ah, they’re not dead by the way. There, you’re free to go.” (Nightmare)

[[I-I see...may I talk to my daughter?]] (Ben)

“Hoi~” (Nightmare)

Nightmare tossed the phone to Ina who silently caught it.

“...Father?” (Ina)

[[Ina! Dear! Are you alright!? Did they hurt you!?]] (Ben)

“...Nn, I’m fine. They only tied me. Mr. Nightmare saved me.” (Ina)

[[Nightmare...is it?]] (Ben)

“Yup, you can call me Night, or Mare or NM or whatever, just don’t call me Hero~” (Nightmare)

[[I-I see...then, Mr. Night, thank you very much. However, my thanks doesn’t really sound sincere on the phone. Can I trouble Mr. Night for a visit?]] (Ben)

“Nah, I still have somewhere else to be...my parents will probably start worrying if I’m gone for long…*cough* I mean. Uhh, I have a date!” (Nightmare)

Though he murmured on the middle part and Ben wasn’t able to hear it well, Ina, however, managed to catch it but instead of being surprised, she simply smiled.

[[I see...even though you hid your voice well, your childish tone and playfulness suggests that you are still a young man. I’m surprised you were able to deal with armed thugs despite being so young. Alright, if you don’t want to meet me, please immediately call the police to deal with those thugs. Ina, call me immediately if something happens.]] (Ben)

“...I understand, father.” (Ina)

The call ended and Ina immediately called for the police.

Since there may still be danger, Nightmare stayed until the police come and soon, an awkward silence covered them.

“...Thank you for saving me, Max.” (Ina)

“It’s fine~...huh!?” (Max)

Nightmare, rather, Max was surprised when Ina mentioned his name.

Ina let out a rare chuckle.

“Fufu, you appearing after I ripped the paper you gave me, that magical forcefield, those guys not seeing me or you as if invisible, and how you made them faint with a touch...it seems that when you said magic yesterday...you meant it...” (Ina)

“Ah...haha...it was that obvious huh?” (Max)

Sighing, Max dispelled the illusion spell around him and the figure of Nightmare dissipated like mist, revealing the 5 year old Max.

Ina’s eyes widened as she saw this happen. After all, although she guessed it earlier, seeing this obvious proof in front of her eyes is still different.

“Amazing...does uncle and aunt Connors know?” (Ina)

“No. Right now, you’re the only person in this world who knows apart from myself.” (Max)

“...Only me...” (Ina)

“Hn?” (Max)

“Nothing...can I...also do that?” (Ina)

Ina asked nervously. Since this is a secret that even Max’s parents do not know, she’s afraid that he won’t teach her how.

Even if Ina is cold and indifferent on the outside, she is still a kid and which kid doesn’t want to use magic? Ina is a rational person and does not dream to actually wield magic, but now that she knows that magic is real, then how can she miss this opportunity?

Contrary to her expectations, Max actually agreed without hesitation.

“Sure.” (Max)

“R-really!?...Will you...teach me?” (Ina)

“Yeah. But you must promise me not to tell this to anyone. Not even your parents. As they say, the less people know, the less likely it will be known. Walls have ears, so trust no one but me, okay?” (Max)

“Nn! Since even you won’t tell your parents, I won’t either.” (Ina)

“Alright, good girl. I won’t teach you spells yet. For now, you must gather mana. Don’t worry, it’s hard if one doesn’t have anyone as a guide. Hehe, luckily for you, I’m here!” (Max)

Max patted his chest proudly as he grinned.

“But first I want a kiss.” (Max)

“A-...kiss?” (Ina)

Ina faintly blushed but wasn’t too embarrassed.

“Yep, a kiss! I need to transfer a bit of mana first so it’s easier to stimulate your senses to gather mana.” (Max)

This wasn’t actually needed but it is true that it makes gathering mana for the first time easier.

With this, the person’s body will be able to feel the sensation of mana for the first time and will be able to identify it from the outside energies, making it easy to absorb them.

Though, a simple touch is fine instead of a kiss but there are things that’s better not said…

“...Okay.” (Ina)

Ina closed her eyes and puckered her lips.

Seeing her pink moist lips, Max held her head and gave her a deep kiss...oh, and also poured mana…

“Puah-...did you feel it?” (Max)

“...Yes…this warm, tingling energy flowing inside me...is mana?” (Ina)

“Right, now, as for how to gather mana on your own, the method is...” (Max)

Max taught her how to gather mana as well see mana. Ina was surprised at the beauty of mana flowing in the world and also at the power of magic.

“For now, just continue gathering mana. Next time we meet, I’ll teach you some basic spells.” (Max)

“Nn!” (Ina)

“Ah, the cops are here. Alright, I’ll go back now. Remember, keep it a secret okay? Trust me, I’ll know if you tell anyone.” (Max)

“Nn...I understand...but how can I protect myself if I don’t know any spells?” (Ina)

“I doubt you will be attacked again but just in case, here’s another talisman. Also, if you focus your mana on your hands, you will become powerful. And if you focus mana on your feet, you can run faster. Anyway, I will know if you’re in danger so there’s no need to worry.” (Max)

“Un...then, goodbye.” (Ina)

Surprisingly, Ina kissed Max again as he was about to go.

Max smiled and teleported back to the mall after hiding himself with magic so the people won’t see him suddenly appear.

“Now then...how am I going to deal with Jenny and Rosalline?” (Max)
