《Divine Dragon》Chapter 25: Aftermath of the fight; Beginning of the War

Seeing this unexpected turn of events, everyone inhaled in shock. They could see that the Meng Clan didn’t care for the youth and even seemed to loathe him. At the same time, Curo who had been fighting him had found respect towards his opponent.
It had been as Jing Fang had said, the Meng Clan did not deserve a talent such as Meng Zhi. The Heavenly Sovereigns of the Meng Clan glared at Ji Long with fire in their eyes and one stepped forward to take action but the moment he did, Jing Fang and Instructor Sheng stepped froward as well. Seeing the two step forward, the three men unconsciously cast their gazes towards the Heavenly Hall. Feeling the fluctuations from within, their faces turned ugly.
The one who stood in the middle then snorted and said, “You can keep that waste then. My Meng Clan has no use for half blood weaklings.” Hearing this, a laughter rang out from below. Everyone turned their gazes towards the origin of the laughter and saw it was Curo. However, he was different. When before he had been smiling coldly, now, his eyes seemed to be fuelled by rage. He said in a loud mocking voice, “What do you shit fucks know about talent? You only rely on the big Primordial Clans. By yourselves, you are nothing.”
These words silenced everyone as they stared at Curo in shock. Jing Fang and Instructor Sheng both looked at Curo with wide eyes, while Ji Long could only smile wryly. He knew from the moment that the laughter sounded out, that Curo was pissed. The last time he was pissed, he had berated people that could kill him with a cough with no care in the world, seemed like this time was the same.
“From the scars it is obvious he has put his life on the line for the Clan more time than you jack asses have. From the determination he exhibited from this fight, it is obvious he did his utmost for the Meng Clan.” He then took a deep breath and roared, “WHO THE FUCKING HELL ARE YOU TO CALL HIM A WORTHLESS WEAKLING?!”
These words stunned the whole Arena into silence. The Meng Clan Ancestor then tried to step forward again but the moment he did, another flash of light appeared from the Heavenly Hall and Qing Zhao stepped out with his true body. As the three Heavenly Sovereigns stood between Curo and the Meng Clan Sovereigns, friction started to build up. Just when it seemed like it would come to blows, a gentle sigh rang out.
Hearing this sigh, everyone present were stunned and the world stilled. This sigh had instantly calmed the entire Arena down and suppressed all the auras present. It was only then that the people present noticed a young blue haired man walk towards Curo with a helpless expression. Seeing the man, Curo looked at him with a cold gaze and Ji Long in astonishment.
The boy walked in front of Curo and then looked him in the eyes and said, “I had intended to stay out of this, however, you altered his fate by making him your brother.” Curo raised his brows in surprise. The boy then sat down and gestured for Curo to do the same. Curo glanced at the sky for a moment before sighing and sitting down as well.

No one made a sound as though time was frozen. All gazes were converged on the two figures sitting down. Curo withdrew a wine bottle and two cups from him Spacial Ring. He filled the two cups and then, after taking a sip the young man glanced at Meng Zhi and said, “His fate was to stand up, try to fight his earnest and die from the injuries. However, by knocking him out and taking him as a brother for yourself, you changed that fate.” Hearing this, Curo gulped. Just as he wanted to ask something, the youth looked at Curo and said, “It is not yet time to ask such questions.” Curo sighed as closed his mouth.
The youth then turned towards Meng Zhi and said, “I will take him under my protection for now. When he wakes up, I will offer to become his Master. If he accepts, I will give my all in teaching him. If not, I will let him go his own way.” Curo was shocked when he heard this but then smiled as he nodded his head. He then said, “I will have to bother Senior then.”
The young man let out a laugh and said, “No problem, although you changed his fate, I am more interest in seeing him play out this fate. Today, you sowed good Karma with him, when the time comes, he will definitely pay you back this Karma.” Hearing this, Curo gave a slight smile as he gave a glance at Meng Zhi.
Although, he had declared him as a brother out of rage and on a whim, he didn’t regret the choice. It was obvious that he had his own dark past and he was pushing his way through it all. This made Curo respect him. The youth then downed his cup and took a glance at the Meng Clan’s Heavenly Sovereigns and said in a cold tone, “This is my warning to you, if you use your own strength, I wont intervene. However, if you contact the Primordial Clans for help again, I will also make my move.” Leaving this sentence behind, the youth disappeared.
Only a, “Good wine.” echoed in the air as both him and Meng Zhi had disappeared without a trace. Seeing this, Curo sighed as he downed his cup as well and stored the things. He then looked towards the Meng Clan Sovereigns and smiled provocatively. Everyone could read it out from his smile, “You have the Primordial Clans behind your back, we have him.”
The Heavenly Sovereigns of the Meng Clan grimaced heavily as they felt cold sweat forming on their backs. Although the natives of the Realm didn’t know who that man was, they most certainly knew. The warning he left behind was something that not even their Primordial Clans would dare take lightly. If he truly got involved, not to mention this Realm, there was a high chance of their Nine Primordial Clans would suffer a devastating blow to their strength.

Just as the Meng Clan Sovereigns turned around to leave, Jing Fang’s voice sounded out, “Seeing as you lost the fight, aren’t you going to give me an explanation?” Hearing this, the Meng Clan Sovereigns wanted to puke blood. It was obvious that he was outright taunting them. It was obvious that he knew everything there was to know but he still called them out like this. The Meng Clan Sovereign then snorted, “Yes, we are from the Realm. Yes, we plotted with the Nine Primordial Clans to kill the previous Realms Lord and seal you and your fellow beasts. We then uprooted your entire Clans to make sure we received no resistance when we subdued the Realm Will and enslaved all you native savages.”
Hearing this, Jing Fang smiled maliciously as he retorted, “Well, seems like you “refined” outsiders aren’t worth much then if we, he native savages, could kick your asses so hard you need to call in your mommies and daddies to fight for you.” The out right ridicule in the tone was something that ripped the last bit cordiality they had. From everything that had transpired here, when the Meng Clan had admitted to being from outside the Realm and from the Meng Clan’s Sovereign’s tone, they did not look at the people of this Realm as even cultivators.
When they heard that they wanted to enslave them, rage boiled inside them. The Meng Clan Sovereign then snorted coldly as he walked away. Jing Fang didn’t stop them, instead he smiled as he had accomplished everything he had set out to do here.
The people in the Arena knew that this was going to raise a storm the moment it spread out and a war between the Nine Clans and the Five Academies was going to be certain. Which side they took, this will indicate the fate of the Realm. As natives, their pride wouldn’t let outsiders simply waltz in and enslave them, however, they all had a tinge of fear towards the unknown “Primordial Clans”.
Although, the mysterious Senior had said that he would also intervene if the Primordial Clans did, they did not have the knowledge, whether the man was strong enough to fight against them or not. Since there were too many things that were still unknown, they had no choice but to wait and see. When push came to shove, they would most likely choose the Five Academies side as they were native to the Realm and also nurtured the people from their Realm.
When the Meng Clan had left, all gazes present concentrated on one spot, the youth standing in the middle of the remains of the Ring. There were many complicated looks involved. Some people still couldn’t believe that this entire thing had happened and was carried out by one youth. Someone that had not even entered the Saint Realms, had caused such a storm and started such a Bloody War.
It was obvious there were going to be countless dead, untold number of annihilated Clans and countless lost legacies. Thinking about this, the people present could do nothing but sigh heavily; this war was going to drag on for a while, neither side was weak and neither side had the upper hand. With that, they gave Curo one final glance before slowly standing up one by one and cupping their hands in respect towards Headmistress Xi and the three Heavenly Sovereigns.
Then, all the Elders present took their Juniors and departed towards their own Clans and Schools. They all had their own preparations to do in order to survive this ordeal and time was not something they had a lot of right now. As the various Elders left, Instructor Sheng hurriedly ushered Curo away.
This came as a surprise to many but only a few could see that Curo’s Qi was extremely unstable right now. If he didn’t sit down to cultivate and stabilize it, then this whole fight would be without gains for him. Right now, his body was strong enough to house the Palace Building Qi however, it wasn’t stable. The moment Curo sat down in his courtyard to try and stabilize it, his courtyard was surrounded by Instructor Sheng, Qing Zhao and Jing Fang.
The three sat down in a defensive formation to make sure nothing disturbed him and no one could harm him during this time. The more Curo rotated the Qi according to the [Dragon Human Unification Art] the calmer the Qi became. Once, twice, five times, ten times and soon, with each completed rotation, the Qi became more obedient and docile. When he had finally reached sixty rotations, the Qi had completely calmed down.
Seeing this, Curo sighed heavily in relief. He then inspected his body and smiled wryly. The fight with Meng Zhi had been tough and his body was riddled with injuries. However, thanks to the Dragon Blood and countless Heavenly Treasures Jing Fang had used during his Awakening, his body was recovering and healing at a rapid pace. By being nurtured by the Palace Building level Qi, Curo felt his body also slowly improve. Now, both his fleshly body and his Qi cultivation were in balance again.
Curo smiled as he felt the Qi roaming through his body. However, with this, he had lost a trump card of his. Just as he thought about this, he noticed that the [Dragon Cross Seal] was still there. It lacked the Qi but the Dragon was still there, sealing the Cross. Curo then had a wild thought as he directed a stream of Qi inside the Cross.
His face lit up when he saw the result.

Paladin
When the first derelict alien spacecraft fell to Earth, humanity took what was found in it and propelled themselves to new heights. In their new Golden Age, humanity developed technology that they had only dreamed about. The following years saw hundreds more ships crash into the planet, spurring even greater technological leaps. An unassuming spacecraft, one of the dozens that fell yearly, descended on Siberia in 2021. The world took no particular notice of it. However, this one contained something beyond the miraculous technology that had made humans so prosperous. Three years later, in a top-secret underground facility in eastern Colorado, the automated construction of an army of Paladin Mobile Infantry Suits was underway. With this new, state-of-the-art weaponry, the military would turn the tide against the alien incursion that was consuming the planet. Humanity fell before that could happen. Sam was an engineer responsible for overseeing the facility. Now alone, he lives in utter boredom and near insanity, his only company the base’s pseudo AI and an army of empty Paladins. With the world gone to hell around him, and the things that caused it still living above, he decides that he is much better off staying exactly where he is. Unfortunately for him, that is no longer an option. This is the first novel I've written. The first fifteen or so chapters are going to be a little slower. I want there to be time to get to know the characters before they start blowing stuff up. Also, though the MC will be strong relative to the world, he won't be OP, and won't win every fight. Not every fight will be physical either. Currently, I'm aiming for something like 5 fairly short chapters a week, after the introduction part is done, but we'll see how that goes. Thanks for reading, and please let me know if I've made mistakes!
