《Divine Dragon》Chapter 17: Aftermath

The entire Hall was completely silent. Every person in the room looked towards the screen that showed the battle inside the Formation with a shocked expression. The Instructor in charge of the Formation was shocked silly as he forgot to pull Curo out of the Formation before he got himself killed. He was no longer in any condition to fight. Instructor Sheng’s eyes were serious as his hand was covered in a milky white glow and shot inside the Formation.
A giant white hand appeared from the sky and gently pulled Curo out of the formation. Instead of putting Curo down, Instructor Sheng let him gently float in front of him as he fished out several Pills and shoved them in his mouth. A few moments later, when the Pills started dissolving, Curo’s complexion changed. At some point in time, he had passed out from the sheer amount of pain he had suffered. When Instructor Sheng saw that Curo’s complexion turned for the better, he let out a sigh of relief before he sent a bit of Qi inside Curo’s body to search for internal damages.
What he saw, made his face turn grim as Curo’s meridians were on the verge of being ruptured to pieces. His muscles and bones had been torn and broken from several places. He took out several other Pills and after feeding them to Curo, he sat down cross legged on the ground as he sent in small waves of Qi to help heal the internal injuries he had suffered.
As everyone looked at this in shock, no one dared to make even the slightest of sound. Some people even held their breaths in fear of disturb Instructor Sheng. They had all seen the display Curo had put on, that kind of a Secret Art, that allowed one to explode in power like that was something that Curo’s body should not be able to handle.
As everyone waited in silence, time passed slowly and soon an hour, then two had passed. It was only then that Instructor Sheng opened his eyes and let out a deep breath of relief. The Medicinal Pills coupled with his first aid had managed to deal with more serious injuries and he had managed to make sure that there would not be any implications because of this in the future.
After he opened his eyes, he stood up and started walking towards the exit, Curo gently floating after him. He brought Curo to the Healing hall that specialized in dealing with all of the injured Students and Instructors. It didn’t take long for the word to get out that Curo had been admitted with serious internal injuries and was currently in an unconscious state.
Hearing this, some people snickered at him overestimating himself while some breathed a sigh of relief. This was surely going to impact his future. However, everyone were curious as to what had happened to him. Soon another wave of shock took the Academy by the storm when someone discovered that the Number One on Human Rankings had exceeded the Number One on Earth Rankings in terms of Battle Score.

When this fact spread out, no one could hide the shock on their faces when they saw that Curo’s Battle Score was 27 000. Some people started making a fuss that it must have been a mistake and there must have been some kind of an error somewhere or that he had cheated somehow, however, those rumours were quickly drowned when the people that saw how Curo had fought heard them. They immediately started spreading word of Curo’s battle to every single detail.
When they told everyone about Curo using a Secret Art that let his cultivation temporarily climb to 98 Qi Springs, it left people feeling shock, fear and also dread. The 27th wave was named by the Student’s as “Battle with oneself”. Everyone who had reached the 27th wave at least once knew the difficulty of winning that battle.
The Earth Rankings Number One had had the Battle Score of 26 000 for the last 8 years solely due to the fact that he had not managed to pass the 27th wave. It wasn’t that he hadn’t tried, every time he could, he would enter the Formation to fight his Copy. However, he would always fall a sliver short and when he came back the next time, he would have to start all over again.
While the whole Academy was in an uproar again, Qing Zhao heard of what had happened. His face changed drastically as he shot towards the Healing Hall like a shooting star; Headmistress Xi Qing was only a step late arriving. When the two had arrived, Instructor Sheng looked at Qing Zhao with an extremely cold gaze. Seeing the gaze, Qing Zhao could see that Instructor Sheng was extremely angry.
With a freezing tone, Instructor Sheng asked, “Did you know of this Secret Art?” Hearing this, Qing Zhao struggled for a moment before he let out a deep sigh and waved his hand, putting up a barrier that shut out all prying eyes and ears. He then slowly said, “When he exited the Dragon Form Awakening, his cultivation had climbed nearly to the peak of Palace Building.” Hearing this, Instructor Sheng and Headmistress Xi both looked at he man in shock.
It was obvious that this was the first time Headmistress Xi had heard about it. Qing zhao cast a complicated look towards Curo and the said, “Ancestor Jing then used a Sealing Art to seal the excess cultivation that would cause harm to his body. He handed him a method to undo the seal temporarily should he need it in a time of need, however, I had never thought he would use it in a situation like this.” He sighed deeply at the last part. Although it wasn’t completely true, the truth was something best kept hidden until the right time. None of the people present could ask Ancestor Jing whether what Qing Zhao had said was true or not.
If Curo waked up, he would confirm what Qing Zhao had said. This was something that they agreed on when they were coming towards the Academy with Ancestor Jing. The truth of the matter was too important and they couldn’t risk it being found out, one way or another. The less people knew about it, the better. Qing Zhao then said with a sigh, “Curo currently needs to only focus on upgrading his body. When his body grows stronger and more resilient, he can gradually loosen the Seal to bring his cultivation forward.”

Hearing this Instructor Sheng let out a deep breath. He then looked at Curo and several thoughts swirled in his head. Headmistress Xi then gave a hollow laugh and said, “This boy is a walking magnet for shocking events….” Hearing this, Instructor Sheng and Qing Zhao looked at one another with a helpless gaze as well. The waves he set off this time were something that could not be so easily drowned. Qing Zhao thought back and couldn’t find another monster like him in all of the History of the Academy.
On his first day, he reached the Number One on Human Ranking. What’s even more shocking is that the Battle Score he has is even higher than the Number One on Earth Ranking. Technically, in terms of Battle Score, he should be ranked Number One on the Earth Ranking. However, that Ranking is strictly for Senior Students. Qing Zhao then asked, trying to divert the topic from this headache, “How are his injuries?”
Instructor Sheng said, “His injuries have actually been healed already under the Pills I gave him and the expertise of Healing Hall Masters. However, he is still unconscious for some reason.” Hearing this, Qing Zhao furrowed his brows as Instructor Sheng continued, “However, he is constantly revolving the [Dragon Human Unification Art] and all the flaws he had in his cultivation have been slowly fixed. Whether it is a conscious or an unconscious thing is unknown.”
Hearing this, Qing Zhao frowned even harder as he couldn’t see the cause of the loss of consciousness. As they were discussing this, all of the other Heavenly Instructors had arrived outside the barrier. Qing Zhao talked with the two a bit longer before he let the other Heavenly Instructors in.
When the others arrived inside, Qing Zhao sealed the area again. He then turned towards Instructor Sheng and asked the wider circle of people, “What are we going to do with his Ranking?” Hearing this question, the faces of the people present turned complicated. Something like this had not happened in the history of the Academy. Since this was a first, they needed to deal with it accordingly.
However, considering the fact that another person as monstrous as him coming along in the future is rather non existent, they need to figure out how to deal with Curo, not completely rebuild the ranking system.
One of the Heavenly Instructors, an older woman, said, “How about we remove his name from the Rankings? He will be given the rewards on his Battle Score, rather than on the ranking itself.” Hearing this suggestion, the people present looked at each other with a complicated expression. Currently, this truly was the best way to resolve this. His performance was shocking to say the least.
His score already passed the Earth Ranking Number One and given a bit of time, he will most certainly pass the Number One on Heavenly Rankings as well. This was going to happen when he was in his Junior years of Academy.
One thing was that he would not have to do anything and just sit at the top of the Rankings to enjoy the rewards without much more effort. However, the other thing would be the mental blow to the other students. His accomplishments truly were astonishing and the Academy was excited to have such a monstrous genius however, they had 30 000 other students to think about as well.
If there was no competition for the Number One spot, people would lose their motivation for it. Since they can’t become Number One no matter what they did, what was the point? Such a mental blow could be quite serious the older the students became.
Especially the current Elder Students. If they were passed by a Junior that had been at the school for only a day, how could they have any confidence in themselves? As all the people present stood in a contemplating position, a white light enveloped Curo. Instructor Sheng and Qing Zhao quickly shot towards Curo the moment they noticed it but before they could grab him, he was enveloped in a milky white glow. Qing zhao narrowed his eyes as he saw that the light was originating from the pendant on his neck. However, he had no knowledge of Curo ever having such a pendant.
As he kept trying to discern it’s features, his face grew solemn when he saw that the pendant was a complete copy of the tattoo on his shoulder. Seeing this, Qing Zhao’s eyes flashed as he coldly barked, “This room is now off limits to everyone. Heavenly Instructors are to guard this room with their lives and let no one in.” Hearing this, the Heavenly Instructors present paled. They had not heard this cold of a tone from the man in years and the last time they did, a bloodbath ensued.
They hurriedly looked one another as they shot out of the room and into a defensive formation around the room. Only Instructor Sheng, Qing Zhao and Headmistress Xi were present in the room besides Curo. As the white glow surrounding Curo intensified, Qing Zhao snorted coldly and increased the strength of the barrier surrounding them.
As if a slumbering dragon had been awakened, the pendant on Curo’s neck hovered in front of Curo’s chest as many complicated and ancient runes circled around Curo’s body. Seeing the pendant, Qing Zhao’s eyes narrowed as he remember where he had seen it before. With a hoarse voice he said, “Heaven Sealing Dragon Pendant….”
