Chapter 32: Truth
When Nalser had calmed down, he cast his sight on the horizon. The dawn had arrived and the sun had started to rise. Nalser just sighed and walked to the well in the corner of the courtyard. He took a sip of water from the already drawn bucket and started thinking on what to do from now on.
Even though he had been up the whole night, he wasn't sleepy at all. He had noticed that, the more he practiced the “Phantom Song Sutra”, the less he needed sleep and rest. If before, walking for 30 km was very tiring and took a long time, then now, he could do it with half the time and practically no fatigue at all. He stood there for a while, clearly in a daze, when Xi and Mei arrived at the courtyard gate.
When Nalser saw Xi coming near, his fist immediately was traveling towards Xi's face. Both Xi and Mei were startled and didn't know , how to respond, so the fist made contact with Xi's face. Before they could ask anything, Nalser lashed out in a cold voice, “You little shit, you know very well, who is behind my back and why. Why the flying fuck have you kept it to yourself?”
Now both Mei and Xi understood, what was going on. When they first thought about telling him about his origin, they were stuck between a rock and a hard place. If they nonchalantly told him, all the efforts the Nura Clan went through to keep him alive, would pretty much be in vain at the moment. However, if they didn't there would arise a situation like this in the future.
They decided to keep their mouths shut and decided, that if this situation arose, they would say, “I am not part of the Nura Clan, it is not my place to talk about things like these.” No matter which one they chose, they would have no excuse for doing so. They may prettily say, that it was not their place to talk about it but what they were actually most afraid was the change in his mentality. Nalser was already hard to read, they couldn't know what changes to his mentality it would bring if they told him about his origins.

If he knew, would he want to pursue vengeance or would he want nothing to do with it. Xi looked Nalser straight in the eyes and asked in a serious tone, “If I had told you, what then? Neither me or Mei is part of the Nura clan, it is not our place to tell others how to live their lives. The second reason is, I wasn't completely sure in the beginning. I had my doubts but as time passed, they were answered. However, that still doesn't give me the reason or justification to stick my nose where it doesn't belong.”
When Xi had said everything, he looked at Nalser with a very serious look. Nalser, having calmed down a little, thought about it from Xi's point of view and understood, that he was right. It wasn't his place to talk about things like these. He calmed down and apologized for hitting him, Xi however, didn't mind it at all, Nalser was pissed and he was surprised that he didn't do anything else. They sat down nearby and Xi decided that it was time to talk about everything he knew.
Mei had decided it was not her place to stay there, so she decided to take a stroll around. When Xi and Nalser had sat down, Xi cleared his throat and asked, “What do you want to know first, your origin or your circumstances?” This question left Nalser puzzled, “Aren't the two intertwined?” Xi shook his head and sighed, “To a point yea, however, your circumstances have nearly nothing to do with your origins. I plan to tell you of both anyways, which do you want to hear first is the question.” Nalser thought for a second and said, “Well, let's hear of my origins first, then about the circumstances.” Xi nodded slightly, this was also the best course of action in his mind.
He took a breath and started, “Well, you see, amongst countless worlds, there are Major ones and Minor ones. I have told you that already haven't I?” Hearing this Nalser nodded, Xi had told him about the countless worlds and how and on what criteria they were classified as. Xi continued, “Amongst the oldest of the Major worlds, there is a world controlled by 7 Clans that are from the same origin.” As Xi paused to take a breath, Nalser asked, “7 Clans from the same origin? It is a Clan that split up into 7 fragments or something?”

Hearing this, Xi shook his head before saying, “No, the Founders of the 7 Clans were blood brothers, whose Clan was destroyed and the brothers separated. Hundreds of years later, they reunited but that was after they had all founded their respective clans. To get revenge for their original Clan, they struck an alliance and over 500 years of bloody battles, they managed to overthrow the Royal Clan that annihilated their original Clan. They united the realm and split it in 7. Every clan controls one part of it and the Lightning Flame Angel Clan is the Leader of the Seven. That is due the Founder of that Clan being the eldest of the brothers, the rest of the brothers had no objection either. It wasn't that they had to bend the knee to him, so no one minded. There is an unwritten rule amongst them, that they do not interfere with another clans territory's rules, unless they went insane and started massacring everyone.”
Xi took a sip of the coffee Nalser had done before and continued, “The 7 Clans are collectively called, The Seven Angel Clans. Red Flame Angel Clan, Blue Flame Angel Clan, Green Flame Angel Clan, Brown Flame Angel Clan, Black Flame Angel Clan, Yellow Flame Angel Clan and finally, the leader White Flame Angel Clan.”
Xi took a breath and continued, “The difference in name is only due to their cultivation technique. The difference between them is the color of their wings. You see, all seven clans have a cultivation technique created by their respective Founders. The 7 Founders are all still alive but they rarely show their faces even around their clans. A clan will be lucky if they got to see their Founder once in 200 or 300 years. So, they management of the Clans has been passed down in successive generations. However, after countless years passing, the Clans relationships have started to deteriorate. When before, they were a single faction, now, there is a great divide. Red Flame Angel Clan, Brown Flame Angel Clan and Black Flame Angel Clan side with the “Leader” Clan White Flame Angel Clan. Blue, Green and Yellow however want to make changes to the Clan system as a whole.
If before, the Clans were one but segmented, they want to lose that and join into one big clan. However, the one who is supposed to be in charge are in their opinion Yellow Flame Angel Clan. This is the basic history of your Clan's origin and the current situation. You are from the Black Flame Angel Clan, the Nura Clan.”
When Xi had finished, he took a minute to let Nalser process everything. This was a lot of new information and you need to think a bit before you can completely understand everything. When he saw that Nalser had more or less understood everything, he continued, “Well, you are also not an ordinary Nura Clan member, you are the Second born son of the Nura Clans Clan Master. Your status in the clan is only second to the First born son and the Clan Master. As for the reason you lived a life you have, is because of some idiot.”
When he heard that he was the second born son of the Nura Clan, he wasn't that surprised, he wasn't an idiot and managed to get bits and pieces of his origin from the man in black. What he was intrigued about was “the idiot” part. Before he could ask, Xi started talking again, “15 years ago, a “Divinator” divined that the Second born son of the Nura Clan will be a peerless genius. This however put the opposing Angel Clans on their toes. Currently there is a very delicate balance between them and you could tilt everything against them, making their “revolution” all for naught. So they tried to kill you the day you were born. However, your Father and his allies, were on guard and to make sure you didn't die, they sent you to a backwater Minor world to live under your Grandfather, the previous head of the Nura Clan.”
When Xi had talked this far, Nalser abruptly stood up and asked in a very serious voice, “You are saying that I was living under my Grandfather but I was living alone there. Due to that, I had to go through Hell every single day ever since the day I was forcibly enlisted.”
Rage was very evident in his voice and then Xi lightly smiled, “A child doing one of the most dangerous jobs in the world but survived, also that necklace you are wearing, is a talisman that holds the Nura Clans most precious cultivation technique, “Black Flame Angel” cultivating technique. Only the ones of the Nura Clans blood can activate it.”
As Xi said that, Nalser's whole world collapsed on him.
