Chapter 27: Midnight chat
As Nalser stood up, he put Curo down from his lap. From his Spacial Ring, he withdrew a strip of black cloth and wrapped it around his head. Dressed in black clothes and having a piece of black cloth covering his face, he looked like assassin.
This was all part of his plan, if the ladies in the house woke up and saw him, he would have a very hard time explaining things. He walked towards the place the 7 people were coming from. The closer he drew, the better he heard their conversation. “Pfft, that bitch. Does she really think that just because Grandpa hasn't killed her yet, that she cares about her. She's a disgrace towards our family.”
A feminine voice echoed out, it was filled with self righteousness. When Nalser got a good look at the people, he realized that they had 3 young men and three young women there, they all seemed to be 13-16 years old. They were all dressed in expensive clothes and had an aura of insufferable arrogance. The last person was actually the one Nalser was the most wary about.
He wasn't afraid of even pissing off a King but he could feel that the old man in black clothes was an expert. Even though Nalser felt that this so called expert was at most on par with him, he could lead to unexpected complications. As Nalser stood in the shadows, thinking of how he would proceed, the old man looked at him and yelled, “Who are you, come out now!”
Nalser was a bit startled by it but he also saw that the old man was aware of his existence. Nalser just sighed and walked out clapping, “Bravo, you seem to be quite on alert old man, now then, what the hell are you doing here in the middle of the night?” Nalser had already entered combat mode and was ready to withdraw Dreamer from his Spacial Ring and fight.
When the old man saw Nalser's clothing, he was surprised for a second. The rumors of a young man practically annihilating the Nadin border fortress was spread far and wide but this old man was not part of the masses. He knew Nalser's features from that day and he looked 1 to 1 replica to the information from the intelligence reports. A tinge of fear surfaced in his heart as he thought, “It's not possible. If that Demon is the one in front of me, no mater how many experts on my level were behind this shitty Mayor's back, they would be annihilated. For now, maybe we can salvage this situation.”

The old man took in a deep breath and smiled while lightly bowing, “This lowly one is only a servant for the Mayor of Fallen Leaves. Might I ask, what is the exalted Phantom doing in a backwater place like this?” The young men and women were all speechless. They knew very well how strong the old man is.
When Nalser heard the nickname Phantom, he was shocked. He immediately started laughing loudly and after a few seconds, he stopped. His voice grew cold as he started emitting killing intent towards the 7, “I asked you a question, why have you not answered me yet?” If there was one thing he learned from his time in this world, it is that, with people like them, you won't get anywhere, if you talk to them nicely. When the old man heard the question, he felt a shiver run down his spine.
Just as he was about to answer, the young of the ladies, that looked to be around 13, opened her mouth in an arrogant manner, “What's it to you? This is our families territory, we can go where we please. Hmph, some random loser shows up and started interrogating us.” Just as the lady finished, the old man felt like he wanted choke her to death immediately.
He knew very well how frightening the young man in front of them was and for that little girl to take such a tone with him was asking to be killed. The old man also understood that, if before they had a chance of talking their way out of this, then now all of that had gone up in flames.
Nalser was also stunned from how ignorant the young lady was but he could only shake his head and said, “This household is under my protection, I will give you 10 seconds to get lost before you will understand that death isn't the worst outcome there is.” When the old man heard that, he was overjoyed. He felt as if he just now dodged a bullet and just as he was about to tell Nalser that they will be on their way, another one of the youngsters opened his mouth.
This time it was the oldest of the young men. He had short brown hair and a sturdy build. He just withdrew his sword and pointed it at Nalser, “Like I will take orders from some random bum. Now get lost, we have some business with the mother daughter, slut pair inside that house.” They all looked arrogantly smug but the old man felt like cutting off the tongues of all of them.

However before he could reprimand them or even as much as glance at them, he heard a shriek from the young man that just talked. As he looked over, he saw that the hand holding the sword had just been cut cleanly from the wrist and in front the young man, stood Nalser. He felt his heart grow cold as he had not taken his eyes off of him before the cry was heard.
He had no idea, how he had managed to move so fast. He could only stare dumbfoundedly at Nalser and mutter in a small voice, “No wonder he was nicknamed the Phantom. He moves just like a ghost.” However, the only one who heard him was Nalser. He just glanced at the old man before turning his attention back to the young man in front of him, “I told you, this house is under my protection. Today, I will let you all off with a warning but the next time you come and find trouble with the two inside the house, you will know suffering.”
As Nalser said that he slowly backed away until he couldn't be seen anymore. When the youth's blood was stopped, the old man said to the six, “From now on, under no circumstance are you allowed to find trouble with them. If you dare to find trouble with them, I wouldn't be surprised if your Grandfather personally sold you as slaves.” Hearing this, the color of their faces changed.
However, the young of the ladies still didn't feel satisfied and asked the old man, “Wang, why aren't we allowed. He chopped off Eldest Brother's hand, are we just supposed to let him and the slut pair get away with this?” Her voice was filled with arrogance but when the old man heard that, He immediately slapped the girl in the face.
He yelled at her, “You idiot. We got away with our lives by a hairs breath already and you want to go kick a sleeping dragon in the ass? That guy is the Phantom who singlehandedly nearly annihilated the Nadin border fortress. Use that fucking pretty head of yours, will ya? He gave us his warning and if you guys keep messing with them, I dare say that even the King wouldn't be able to save us, let alone your Grandfather.”
When he had said everything in frustration, reality suddenly hit every one of them. When they heard that this person was the Phantom, they felt their feet go cold and they felt that they truly escaped by a hairs breath. No one dared to object anymore and they quickly scampered back to the Mayor's residence.
When Nalser left from their sight, he was waiting nearby so he naturally heard the entire conversation. When he heard the conversation, he could only lightly sigh and shake his head. He was currently standing next to the window of the young ladies room. He just murmured silently, “So no matter what, only strength prevails in this world. Go around and destroy one border fortress and everyone will listen to you, well at least the ones with half a brain do. However, it seems I have taken care of the bullying problem now.”
Just as he looked up at the sky to see the moon a cowardly voice came out from next to him, “Thank you for your help but why are you helping us?” As the voice came out, Nalser's eyes went as big as cart wheels and he looked next to him and saw a brown haired young lady looking straight at him.

Checkpoint
as an anomaly sweeps the world, many gain strange abilities. as for Mal, the power makes it so they cannot die, or more accurately, they get sent back in time to the last place they were safe at. A power that seems like a blessing until you’re crushed under rubble, drowned in sewage, shot, stabbed, all while having the royalties to feel all the pain from such fates. And to put the icing on the cake, a strange message appeared before everyone’s eyes stating that unless someone breaks down the gate within 17 years, everyone will die”. now Mal needs to find a way to “break down the gate” (whatever the hell that means) or they will be forced to die and revive, only to die again for the rest of time. Which would suck, probably. /————————————————— this is technically a time loop novel. the MC is chaotic neutral with a worryingly lack of care about how their actions affect people. i want to interact with my readers so give critique and suggestions. I will sometimes host polls for the personality for new characters, story decisions, and the ability to cancel annoying characters, besides Mal, if they get enough complaints. I am also impatient and will end decision polls when I want to write more. If no one votes, I choose, so don’t let that happen. if you’re want world building check out hitchhikers guide to checkpoint (an encyclopedia of what I made up with lots more explanation)

A Mildly Odd Reality Breaker
Omar receives an unexpected visitor who comes baring a gift—a "registration ticket"—in the form of a small metal card. The ticket is itself an offer to participate in the game, "Reality Break." Accepting this offer means that Omar will be able to perceive the true nature of reality where there is not one, but two dimensions of time, and in this second dimension history changes (and somewhat "frequently"). Along with this, he will also gain access to the "chronopause"; another reality that is not so much parallel to our own as it is perpendicular, which acts as both a place and the natural boundary between non-sequential points on the timeline. Using the chronopause, Omar will become a chrononaut with the ability to travel through time, and as a player, he will be given a cybernetic interface and his own portable extradimensional storage space. It's a strange conversation, but due to Omar's dismally short attention span, he only consciously hears that last bit about the portable pocket space, and that's only after the physics-defying void is opened in his living room and literally waved in front of his face. Reality is certainly stranger than most people realize, but then again, so is Omar. Thankfully, he responds well to shiny things, and for better or for worse, his chronic inattentiveness is the least of his psychological issues. Omar also has a mild form of "Oppositional Defiant Disorder" which presents itself as an occasional, arbitrary need to disobey others (especially authority figures). However, his oddest psychological issue by far is his "abnormally hyperactive" subconscious mind. Outwardly and consciously, Omar is a lazy, apathetic man-child prone to mildly asinine behavior. Subconsciously, he's some sort of genius capable of extraordinary feats of cognition. Most of the time, Omar is a (technically) functioning adult, but in order to live as such, he must rely entirely upon unusual abilities he's completely unaware of, despite the fact that he uses them regularly. Up until now, his life had merely been ridiculous, but now it was also a game. Note: The narrative style is that of a reliable narrator with a "3rd-person sarcastic" POV. This story takes place in the Reality Breakers/Chronopause universe.
