《The Necromancer King》Chapter 16: Passing the Trials

(Author: Hello all. Elgar has finally overcome the six doors and accepted his new life. He has accepted that he was blinded by his past life. He was no longer a Dragon king ranked magical beast. He had human, demon, and dragon blood in his veins. He had achieved inner peace with himself. Again, there are nine mage and warrior ranks before ascending by choice reaching the 9th rank and no choice after three hundred years after reaching rank 9. Mage ranks are Apprentice Mage, Adept Mage, Elite Mage, Sorcerer, Wizard, Magus, Arch Magus, Mage King, and Mage Emperor. For warriors (if I forgot to post it earlier) is Soldier, Squire, Knight, Knight Lord, Paladin, Warrior Mage, Blade King, Blade Emperor, and Overlord. There is a table below which will keep you posted on Elgar with slight alterations. To those who write stories with tables: I realize some of your struggles. Again, no idea when or if Royal Road will stop posting the navigation links below my own. Enjoy.)
Chapter 16: Passing the Trials
"Master? You have changed. Even you sword has changed. What kind of snake is that magical beast?" Magmar asked as it greeted its master.
Magmar had been outside the lion turtle and waited for three hours before it saw its master changed. It was relieved that its master was alright and surprised to see the snake. It was not able to follow its master as he carried the two spies inside the mouth of the lion turtle as the lion turtle closed its mouth after eating them.
"A great many things happened inside the lion turtle. I seem to have broken through to the fifth rank, Wizard. I also reached rank 4 as a warrior. My right arm is no longer black but the lava tattoos remain. I became more in tune with my demon and dragon blood in my human body. I am immune to fire and naturally absorb fire element qi as a dragon. I no longer hide my wings if I don't want to and my demonic mana has become purer and more powerful. I have changed much while I was gone. The snake's name will be Void as I am too tired to think of a name. I need to quickly leave this place and rest, " Elgar said to Magmar.
He held the little snake magical beast in left hand as he carried Lava Tyrant. All long the grip of the double blade were veins of amethyst crystals. It seems the mana stone had evolved and became one with the sword. The snake was sleeping as it had become a rank 2 magical beast after devouring the spirit core of the black slime. It looked cute and harmless but would eventually become powerful as even the First Dragon said it was a one-of-a-kind existence.

Elgar summoned bone mice minions of the third rank and over one hundred of them traveled around Elgar and Magmar as they walked back to the lake where the lich where hiding. Elgar no longer hid his secret as a necromancer, but that didn't mean he would use his qi techniques or poison magic. He stared at the group of applicants and they were all instantaneously trapped in their own bone cage except for the rank 2 mages and warriors.
"All three of you lich, hear my words," Elgar said to them mentally as their master. "You will remain here and gather strength. Become stronger and start exploring this chasm. There are bound to be treasures here. When we meet again, I expect a full report on how much of the chasm has been explored. Furthermore, find a secluded area in the chasm and build a house for me. There might be a time I will have to go in hiding from my enemies."
"We hear and obey!" the three lich cried.
"Let us go demon!" the rank 4 warrior shouted as he knew Elgar was the one who imprisoned them. "Come here and face me like a man! Do you know who I am? I am the third son of the emperor of the Batralga Empire! This empire!"
"And I am a human with demon and dragon blood in my veins. You think you, a pure human, can beat me? I am a rank 5 mage and rank 4 warrior. You're so weak, your blood would only dirty my blade. Even using magic on you is a waste. The spell will be released once I pass through the formation barrier in front of the exit. Until then, stay there little princeling," Elgar sighed and walked up to the warrior.
The prince's eyes widened in horror as Elgar grabbed his sword made of low tier holy metal and crushed it in his fist. In front of a dragon and any other demi-human with draconic blood, low tier holy metal was junk and utterly useless. Their sheer brute strength was what made them superior to humans. Elgar laughed as the prince's face turned pale as he stretched his wings. The demi-humans with demon blood cried in alarm and knelt on one knee with their heads bowed low. Demons and demi-humans with demon wings were considered members of an ancient bloodline of demons and any country not prejudiced against demons would humble themselves before one.
Elgar did not know of this as he had never embraced his demon blood besides the magic he wielded and flew into the sky toward his hidden stash of magic bags taken from the dead. He arrived near the entrance of the chasm and took his time looting the magic bags. He was ecstatic when he realized he could breathe fire from his mouth like a dragon when he roared with laughter at how much money and magical items he found. He piled the empty magic bags and burned them to ash. Magic bags and spatial rings were indestructible if, and only if, the owner was dead or there was not owner. Naturally, he did not want others to know he was responsible for so many deaths.

He stared at Magmar and saw that it had been feeding on the demonic cores of the dead magical beasts that littered the area and had grown to two feet in height. He salvaged some of the dead magical beasts in a spatial ring he found so he could he and his new magical beast could feast on them later. He sighed as he walked through the formation barrier as if it never existed and destroyed his bone mice minions as they had served their purpose.
Before he entered the black door, he snapped his fingers and destroyed the bone cages. He stored Lava Tyrant in the black ring he had found in the catacombs and entered the door. All he had discovered that it was a very powerful ring and could store many more items with higher qualities. Only he, the owner, could see the white runes along the side of the ring. To others, it was just a regular spatial ring. One day, he would find out what the runes did.
"Oh the necromancer returns and quite successful as well," Draxil grinned as he received a rank 3 spirit core. "Congratulations Elgar Maltos. Welcome to the Tyrannical Dragon Academy. The most dangerous academy in the entire empire. My thanks for taking care of my guinea pig. I don't know why a blue, rank 1 magical beast slime became black and so powerful. Oh well, it's dead and the brass will be off my back soon. As a reward for passing my first entrance exam as a proctor, I will give you this book on how to make golems. Once you become as powerful as I, a rank 9 mage, you'll realize how useful it is to have minions. You already have a magical beast and a fusion type elemental minion, but a golem can be controlled with....YOUR MIND! Get it? Your mind? HAHAHAHAHA! I know your a necromancer, but you'll need more assets at your disposal if you run out of qi and mana. Yeah, I can sense the fire element qi in your right arm. I am a Mage Emperor after all. Good luck making a golem. That is, if you choose to make one anyway. Report to the judge at the front of the academy to get your half-token and update that status card of yours. Its good to hide what magic you use, but not the profession you wish to be. You'll ruin your own potential you know."
"Thank you," Elgar said and stored the golem book in his black spatial ring. Only the golem book and Lava Tyrant were valuable enough to be placed inside. One storage bag had food and exploding vials and other alchemical tools and the other had loot he didn't need and could sell.
"Welcome back young man," the judge said five minutes later as Elgar flew in front of him. "Let's update that status card."

"Oh! You've been keeping your potential hidden I see," the judge laughed and present him with a half-token. "Head to the registration office at the main building overhead and show them your half-token and status card. Your class request will be reviewed and changes will be made. Welcome to Tyrannical Dragon Academy."
Elgar put the necklace on and flew toward the main building, many people gossiping behind him and wondering when the other applicants would arrive. Geo Valkim was hidden among the anxious parents and guardians and was sad to not see the three spies he had sent. Seeing as Elgar had arrived first and di not head to House Dune, Geo suspected the spies had died without their cover being blown.
He quickly turned around and headed to House Dune to make his report and tell the families the bad news. Lucky for him, he had found out from some of the knights that they had children at the academy so there were plenty of spies to replace those who had failed. That would lessen the disappointment from the madam.

Mortals are weird. They insisted in unity, as well as individualism. More often than not, they're shocked at truth and honesty, but not at falsehood and deceit. They asked questions with multiple answers, and provided answers that begged other questions. They made things to break, they destroyed things to study, they researched things to recreate. Humans, Elves, Beastmen. All of them. Within these contradictions, a miracle might manifest. But this tended to work with a trial and error methodology. Most mortals never got the happy ending.
