《Afterlife - Next World's Auction House》Actions speak louder than words

Browsing through the achievement store, I brought up the racial explanation sub-page and tried to find out what the system’s take on Druids was. I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised.

Druids

The Druids excel in the fields of magic and agriculture, having exceptional affinity with mana as well as any living things. Being able to conjure magic limited only to their imagination and knowledge, but also able to care about the state of the environment they live in, unlike the Elves which only protect the nature’s status quo, they have an important role in the development of a civilization and balance the technological advancement without hurting the ecosystem.

One can say that if the Elves are the common folk of the Faerie race, or its guardians at best, the Druids are unmistakably the nobility!

As part of the Faeries race, their lifespans are also blessed with thousands of years without taking in consideration their evolution to a higher Job Tier through rank up.

World Tree presence detected in your world!

Due to synergy effect, the Druids will automatically be converted to your Faith, because of your identity as Divine Guardian (because you planted the World Tree, your identity is automatically recognized as the God of the world, without the need for a Divine Revelation).

The synergy effect of the World Tree provides a blessing to the Fairies race as follows:

- an increase of 100% in basic attributes;

- an increase of 200% in experience gained (general and not limited to assimilation)

As your World Tree grows to the next level, more blessings will be unlocked!

Seeing the curious looks the two girls, Alexandra and Decarbia were giving me, I explained to them the description of the Druid sub-race and they both marveled at the status increase the World Tree was giving. Since the benefits would only grow with its rank up, I remembered a certain Divine Artefact that could increase the mana conversion efficiency and was almost 100% sure that it was something I could use in correlation with the World Tree.

After all, while my divine attribute was chaotic, it was the type of chaotic that will threaten your life, but once the danger pass, there were many gifts to be collected. The Abi-girl life was used to prove this point and I decided against ignoring such an obvious bait, but rather, make use of it!

[What about the cost, master?](Mia)

“Right… given the cost for the Elves, it’s likely that the Druids will be more expensive to redeem. However, since we received such lavish gifts after the invasion, we can only use those points to our advantage instead of having them gather dust. Let’s see what we got!”

Available population for purchase: 1 Human - 50.000 SP 1 Elf - 500.000 SP 1 Druid - 750.00 SP

Seeing that the amount only increased by 50% instead of the usual double, I couldn’t help but frown. Considering my luck and a certain shitty game God’s interference, I was certain that this wasn’t a good thing. Once something becomes easy or accessible, it signified that right across the corner, there was a huge pitfall lying in wait.

Nevertheless, theory and reality are two different things and without any information, it was just baseless speculation (some might be saying even slander) that will have a detrimental effect on both my mood and the festive mood of the camp. Therefore, I could only grit my teeth and prepare for the worst… as always…

[Master?](Mia)

“It’s nothing… Just thinking about some annoying things. Mia, Alexandra, Decarbia… I have decided to bring over a total of 500 Druids and another 300 Elves. Not only that, but we will focus on a second camp effective immediately and call a meeting tomorrow to talk with everyone about it. I will think about the details and specifics of it as we go, but I want to hear your thoughts.”

[800 new people? Master, even Mia said that 500 it’s the maximum we can handle at the moment. Are you sure we can do this? We are talking about increasing our numbers five times fold…](Decarbia)

“If we were on Earth, no! However, this is Midgard! Not only are the inhabitants more tolerant and understanding, but they are kinder as well. We will make use of this situation to make a power move and bolster our forces, through which we could quickly make a leap in both the military and the technological fields.”

[I agree with your view, Michael! If there is a time for it, it is certainly now while the morale and the sentiment of our people are at its highest. From a logistic standpoint, the resource our camp lacks the most right now, are people. With such an influx, we could double, if not, triple the speed with which our civilization advances.](Alexandra)

[While that might be true, we can’t be sure it is the right thing to do. Having two different sub-races living in the same area could pose problems, while segregating them into two camps would be even worse. I can list an endless amount of examples in the history of Earth where such things had catastrophic endings…](Mia)

“Then, your suggestion to make it work?”

[Haaah… master, are you certain you want to rush this?](Mia)

“Yes!” – I answered stubbornly

[The I would advise to split the people in the camp fairly, half and half. Not only that, but go the extra mile and include the same type of 50/50 mix in the important groups such as the dungeon diving unit, the Agriculture Chamber, etc. In addition, for the secondary camp, we need to send some of the current departments heads, but also promote some new blood from the Druids side. It will be a truly grueling process and we might fail a couple of times in our tries. Of course, that might be just me using the Earth when comparing.](Mia)

“No! I think you are right and we should prepare for the worst case scenario. Only that way we can respond accordingly. Then, I guess the decision has been made, right?”

[Yes.](Mia)

[Mhm!](Alexandra)

[Of course.](Decarbia)

“Great! Let’s proceed then! Buy 500 Druids and 300 Elves!”

Warning! Warning! Warning!

Population purchase has currently been restricted and it can only be completed by the World's administrator within the civilization's designated interface waypoint.

When a blue window suddenly popped up, it caught both myself and the three girls by surprise, creating small gasps in the silent room. To suddenly face a restriction which wasn’t existent prior to the invasion, was an obvious sign that my authority over the world I created, faced some interference.

“Certainly, there’s always a flip side to the coin! Is the system worried that I might have too much of a headstart and try to place restrictions to make the game fair? If that’s the case, I have no desire to comply with such blatant interference. I’m not going to dance on the palm of their hands for entertainment purposes, but rather use that very own palm to bitch-slap them across the face if they think they can use me as a pawn.”

“Okay then! You three remain here and rest, while I will go and visit the Town Hall. That’s the only probable ‘interface waypoint’, so I have to go there and complete the adjustments.”

When I left the house and saw the Elves sprawled around in the grass under the World Tree, I couldn’t help but agree with Alexandra’s point. From a population standpoint, we were doing poorly! However, the answer to suddenly increase it five fold will be a bet that I was willing to take. Why? Because in this world, I was God and God always has the final word!

While shaking my head in a useless attempt at clearing away the distracting thoughts, I already reached the Town Hall and entered it. Once again, I was caught off guard because of the changes that occurred to this room.

The previously cave-like room with an out-of-place state of the art virtual interface, was now replaced with an office meeting room, where a huge table and about 50 chairs were placed before the same interface.

Deciding to hold any meetings relevant to our civilization development here, from this point onward, I took a chair at the head of the table, facing the ‘waypoint’ that shouldn’t be restricted anymore.

“Bring up the sub-page for the Achievement Store that will allow me to buy new population.”

After a simple order, the same pop-up window appeared in front of me.

Available population for purchase: 1 Human - 50.000 SP (specific Earth race) 1 Elf - 500.000 SP (fantastic race, nature related) 1 Druid - 750.00 SP (fantastic race, nature related)

“I would like to buy 500 Druids and 300 Elves.”

Alert!

If you would like to proceed, 500 Druids will cost 375M Soul Points, while the 300 Elves will cost 150M Soul Points.

The grand total spent, will bring you up to 525M.

Will you like to proceed? YES NO

"Yes!"

Confirmation received!

Deducting 525M Soul Points from the player’s funds.

Please specify the genders and approximate age of the population you have purchased!

“The gender huh? For the Elves they shall be split on a ratio of 1/3, one quarter being males while the other three quarters females. For the Druids… Ugh… 200 will be males while the remaining 300 will be females. Adjust the body’s age around 20.”

Confirmation received!

Proceeding with the migration of the souls!

“Oh fuck! I forgot that they would be brought here instantly. It might cause some panic…”

Alert!

Due to the influence of the World Tree, the technological advancement, as well as the multiple blessings Midgard has, a period of 36 hours will be required before migration.

Player, please prepare to receive the migrators!

Breathing in relief, I took another look at the message that gave me a bit of a reprieve while pondering what the fuck I’m I supposed to do next. Yes, having the two raced mix would be hard and it might not even be effective without a proper leader taking control of the camps. I couldn’t bring myself to move, or have the girls leave my side either, so I was pondering how should I implement the Chinese lording system. If that could work, I might be able to have the two camps set up different departments (technological, military, agricultural, etc.), with a proper camp leader that will answer to me and the girls.

“But that isn’t even the most important thing. I did decide on building a second camp, but where the hell I’m I supposed to put it… Bring up the world map by focusing it around the World Tree and our current camp!”

A properly detailed map was brought up and not only was I able to see everything on it, I also had a specified area through which my current civilization scouted or passed through. It was impressive to see that in such a little period of time, we managed to plow through such a large area.

“Given that the wide forest covers a big part of the North, South and West of the continent, the only option is to go East. It is also the safest option because of the Dungeon in that area being the lowest threatening one. I would love to set up the second camp by the river, however that is utterly impossible given that it could just as well be on a different continent due to the stupid distance. I think it would take by foot, at least two weeks to reach the shore and that is by continuously walking. I must settle for a camp in the clear plains. With them, I will be able to focus heavily on agriculture and industry. That area has many ore deposits a bit north and could grow into a huge city as times goes on. I should check with the girls first and set up a meeting with the other important figures in our civilization to present the idea.”

Stretching a bit, I realized that I unknowingly spent almost an hour in the Town Hall, so I got up and left for home. I felt more tired than ever and my insides were still hurting from forcibly devouring a higher being. Now that I think about it, even said aloud, it is utterly ridiculous.

“Those ancestors of mine are quite scary. I should organize their memories and see if I can uncover more mysteries.”

Sighing again, I realized that since the true start of the game was announced, it became a habit of mine. I really disliked it. I could only climb into our bed, surrounded by the three beautiful girls and sleep in their embrace. That would wash away all the fatigue gathered throughout this day.

“As for sex… Well, it’s not like I don’t want to do it, but I don’t want to force them either. I guess I will just let nature take its… course…”

As for why my thought process was so suddenly interrupted, that was because three heaven-shaking beauties were sitting on our bed, barely dressed in a transparent camisole each. With Mia’s body taking after Eternity, but with that beautiful red hair of hers, Alexandra’s supple body and bashful expression, Decarbia’s alluring and almost demonic-like body filled with mature charm… I couldn’t help but gulp.

“It seems like they made their decision. As a guy, no questions should be asked!”

“Activate Pandemonium! Air Wall!”

Pandemonium successfully activated! Air Wall has been created!

Mana required to sustain a wall of continuously moving air around the room is 50MP/second.

“Activate Imaginarium! 18+ version!”

…Imaginarium activated!

Ignoring the almost complaining system's voice, I glanced around me. With a film around the room blocking all sounds from entering or exiting, while also keeping a cool temperature and other ‘tools’ that would make even the most straightforward person shy, a truly awesome night started.
