《Afterlife - Next World's Auction House》The meaning of a title!
I was feeling puzzled by the title I randomly received. After all, I held no recollection of its meaning and it granted me no skills or extra attributes from what I can see at a single glance. What worried me even further, was the fact that I received it after the more than realistic dream I had.
"Maybe prior to all this happening I wouldn't have thought about it too much and blame it on an active imagination. However, given all the weird shit I've already experienced after my 'death' back on Earth, I can't simply ignore it."
Trying to piece the pieces of the puzzle together, all I had so far was the existence of Gods (since I was currently considered one of them), the existence of the game we are currently playing (again, since I am a part of it) and the dream I had about the (apparently) first God to exist on Earth. Oh, right! And the creation of humanity.
Moreover, if the voice I keep hearing in my head (and yes, I know how crazy that sounds) is indeed a piece of memory or maybe the 'me' back then, although from what I remember in the conversation which was held at the last Assembly of Gods, reincarnation is not really a thing.
"So then, while I can't see the faces of the people in the story, I can still feel the familiarity with which I interacted with them. If this was just a random memory implanted in me, it would affect me all the same since my brain would recognize it as my own, therefore I can't say for sure that it was still me. Ugh... complicated..."
The whole problem in all this was the fact that in this 'puzzle' of mine, I had only two pieces: the dream and the title. Nevertheless, the puzzle itself was at least 100 pieces big...
“So I guess I should inspect the title...”
Kyrie: Signifying the dominance of a Lord, this title is awarded only to those few capable of leading the demon hordes.
Effect: allows contracting demons from the Underworld.
Hint: once your Tier reaches LvL 1 and you can select your Job, it automatically becomes Lord, its effect making it possible for more demons to be contracted. At your current level, prior to Tier 1, only one demon can be summoned, at maximum one Tier higher than the contractor, depending on your luck.
Uwaaaaah... Underworld it is being mentioned again. Moreover, demons... Speaking of demons, Eternity said that she would chose them as her starting race. I truly wondered exactly how different they are, compared to humans or my elves.
“Nevertheless, a summoning ability and a Job that comes with it huh? How do I even contract the demon?”

The system acknowledged your intent to establish a contract with a demon.
Would you like to proceed?
Alert!
At your current Tier you will only be able to summon a low-ranked demon, Tier 1 at best!
“Proceed!”
I literally had no reason to hesitate. I mean is that, isn’t it? Summoning someone else to be the tank while you take the backline... cowardly? Hell naw! It is called being safe.
“But this summoning ritual... isn’t it way too flashy? What’s with the blinding light?”
Was there a need for the sudden Aurora Borealis? In addition, why the hell was there a sudden split in the air in front of me? Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan! I had a really bad feeling seeing the ‘portal’ which pretty much was a huge tear in the space, about three meters tall.
Then, almost like a slap in the face that would confirm all my worries, a large hand grabbed the left side of the portal.
Hmm... How can I describe this? The color of the skin was blue and the hand itself could easily grab my head in its palm and cover it completely. That without taking in consideration the nails... or rather claws, which were 100% sharper than the rusty short sword I was carrying at the moment. Yup! I was scared shitless and was preparing to bolt at a moment’s notice.
“Motherfucker! I was curious about their looks and shit, but is there a need to fucking scare the soul out of me?”
The silhouette which was towering at over 3 meters, required to bend its back in order to pass through the portal. Its blue skin was barely containing its bulging muscles and the veins appeared to be a step away from exploding through it. On its forehead a horn, about 5-10 centimeters, pushed out of the skin and on its back a pair of small wings that appeared incapable of carrying the giant through the air.
Overall, this huge monster was stupidly intimidating and looked down on me with its red pupils and a human-like sneer on its face.
“Fuck! This is bad...”
[Are you the puny insect that dared summon this Great One?](stupid low-rank demon)
My eyebrow twitched and I wondered if this piece of garbage would give experience once I killed it. I opened my mouth to speak, however the stupid low-ranked demon beat me to the punch once more...
[Actually, it matters not! Now that this Great One arrived on this plane, I will make all you puny humans shudder in fear of my noble name! Let this world fear the name Iz...ual...](Izual)
*PUCHI*
I watched in abject horror as a hand emerged through the demon’s chest, following which a wave of blue blood sprayed on my face and clothes, making my body involuntarily shudder for a second. Izual, the Great One (self-entitled) fell to his knees and glanced incredulously behind him.

[It’s you bitch!!! You dare attack this one!? Her Lordship will skin you alive! Just wait until she finally finds clues of you trail! She will have hellhounds rape you while the entire Underworld watches! She will...](Izual)
A nasty sound of crunching bones was heard and after a loud *PLOP*, the head of the demon hit the ground. At the same time, the hand that pierced the chest of the demon retracted as well and took a bite out of something. I did not dare look at what that was and instead stared straight into the red eyes looking curiously at me, while munching on what was most likely, the heart of the stupid demon from before.
There were two small horns on her forehead and the lithe body was covered with a lustrous blue skin, apparent due to her clothes... or rather, the haggard state of them. On her back a pair of wings bigger than Izual’s (or maybe it just appeared so due to her height being normal) and to my utmost delight in this strange situation, a slim tail with a pointy end was waving about.
Body-wise, she fell into the category ‘I’d jump on her anytime, anywhere!’. She was about 1.7 in height and she had an hourglass figure with a well proportioned body, making me inwardly scream ‘temptress’. There wasn’t anything exaggerated about her body and her face held a strangely calm while a beautiful smile remained plastered on her face, keeping in mind that she just killed someone of her own race. Long hair fell to her elbows, shining in the dim light given by the still open portal.
“I should’ve bought some stars... the scene of this beauty would’ve been better with them illuminating and not only with the moon. Leaving all jokes aside though, this situation is rather bad isn’t it?”
The pair of eyes pierced through the darkness and pinned my own gaze, making me unable to move. It reminded me of the same feeling I had when I was killed, making the whole situation rather uncomfortable.
The smile on her face widened and with slow steps she began walking towards me. Given that I had no Fear resistance anymore, I couldn’t even move the muscles on my face and just stared (probably with a plain look) at the approaching demoness.
Seeing her stop merely a step away from me and still looking in my eyes, she bowed in a way similar to movies about nobility and spoke with a sweet voice.
[This one is called Decarbia. May I have the honor of knowing the name of my contractor?](Decarbia)
“Michael Corbett.”
[If your Excellency could forgive this one’s lack of manners, I would like to close the portal, or else more demons shall follow.](Decarbia)
“Would that be an issue?”
[I apologize if I might insult your Excellency, however judging by your current strength you are unable to establish a contract or defeat even the lowest ranked ones. As for my personal strength goes... I am afraid that I might be even weaker.](Decarbia)
“You say that after you slaughtered the one at your feet?”
[Fortunately, I was able to catch him unaware. In a direct fight, I would not stand a chance him. I am well versed in the use of long-range magic, but we demons have a high magic resistance, the dumb dead one even more so. Therefore, if your Excellency won’t mind...](Decarbia)
“By all means...”
OIIIII!!! Who is this arrogant bastard talking right now? It can’t possibly be the same person who was too scared to move a second ago and still is, right!? Also this chick... As beautiful as she is, she didn’t even blink when killing one of the people of her own race. Okay, yes! The blockhead Izual kind of deserved that, but the fact that she slaughtered him as easy as killing a chicken worries me...
Not to mention, the blockhead said something about this girl being a wanted criminal or something and even mentioned for the punishment to be as severe as being raped by hellhounds. The fuck did I just get myself into!? I would sincerely want not to be included in the list of people to be fucked by dogs... especially if they are hellish ones...
[It has been done your Excellency!](Decarbia)
She returned and with a slight bow, she reported to me. I could indeed confirm that the portal behind her was closing, meaning that this temptress will remain here with me…
“Huh!? Then, how do I send her back to hell or something, if shit hits the fan!?”
I could feel beads of cold perspiration forming on my back, while I was strangely drawn to her beautiful eyes.
“Well, I guess that even if I die there’s no problem, therefore let’s just wing it...”
“I have a couple of questions for you if you don’t mind Decarbia.”
[It would be my honor your Excellency!](Decarbia)
Seeing the honest (or at least that’s what I thought it was) smile on her face, I slightly relaxed and prepared to make some sense out of the current situation.
