《Afterlife - Next World's Auction House》Building order

Gathering next to the huge interface window measuring at least five meters in height and another five in width, Mia began explaining to the pretty heroine what each tab meant. For some (like Constructions, Materials Available and Population) she understood them quite fast, while others (like Social Policies, Research and Great People) it took a more… in depth explanation. What she was utterly confused about was why would we have access to Miracles that only the God of Chaos has. That’s where Mia and I had to coax her into believing that the Chaos God prefers self-governance over heavily influencing his believers.
[Thinking about how we were saved from our predicament in the previous world by Him and all the gifts we were given in order to live a happier life here… but He doesn’t plan to interfere at all with us? Why big sister?](Alexa)
[We do not know… However, we are talking about a God. Saving us and who knows how many others that might come later, giving us his blessings… isn’t that already more than enough? Wanting to have Him babysit us is already exaggerated.](Mia)
[I guess big sister is right. However, isn’t the Chaos God similar to Michael? Personality-wise? He also said that he doesn’t want to be involved in leading the elves…](A)
“ (⊙o⊙) ”
[I guess he is, isn’t he? I never noticed until now…](Mia)
Seems like Mia was still taking revenge for leaving her to the wolves previously. Using that moment and the fact that the day was soon coming to an end, I began bringing up the tabs in the interface so we can examine the available routes we could take.
“Enough joking… Let’s take a look at what we need to take in consideration for the future of our civilization. Actually, Mia, bring up the tabs one at a time.”
[Acknowledged!](Mia)
Construction
Provides the option to decide on the order in which buildings can be built.
Keep in mind that each building provides certain benefits which affect other fields such as Research, Population growth, Production, or even the simple material gathering speed or amount.
Current Production Points: 0 (Assign people in order to increase production)
Buildings available:
-Monument;
-Shrine;
-Stone Works;
-Farms;
-Lumber Mill;
-Water Mill;
-Barracks ;
-Ancestral Library
Production points are calculated based on the number of people assigned to the Construction field divided by 5. Be advised that each building will require a number of points in order to be completed and your civilization generates a specific number per day.
If you are unable to meet the number of points required to build in only one day, the construction timeframe can be extended for longer periods.
“It seems like we’ll have loads of work ahead of us…”
[It is to be expected now that we advanced in the Tools Age…](Mia)
[Big sister received the notification as well?](A)
“Notification? Alexa did you get a message about the advancement to the Tools Age?”
[Yes, Michael… and not only myself. All the elves did.](A)
“Did they now? Interesting… “
I realized that maybe when that type of advancement happens, the notification becomes a World Announcement of sorts, meaning that the entire civilization is made aware. That is not bad at all really… Thinking about it, wouldn’t they be happier if they knew when something like that happened? All their hard work being rewarded will make them have a feeling of achievement.

“Mia, let’s take a look at the buildings available. We need to decide on the construction order.”
Nodding her head while sending her beautiful flaming hair afloat slightly, she touched the blue window and made a gesture towards the Construction tab. Then, she began expanding up the description for each building, one at a time.
Monument
The Monument increases the Culture Points of a city, speeds up the growth of the city's territory and the civilization's acquisition of Social Policies.
It's the first building available for every city in the Tool Age, without having to research any technology as requirement. Cost 200 Production Points and 1000 stone units Maintenance Inspections or repairs required once per month Technology req None Specialists req to operate None Effect provided +2 Culture Points/day Shrine
Shrines are sacred monuments typically built to memorialize revered cultural icons or religious figures.
Represented in nearly every religious denomination found throughout the world, shrines play an important role in religious ceremonies in both public and private worship. Cost 200 Production Points, 500 wood units 1000 stone units Maintenance Inspections or repairs required once per month Technology req Pottery (already researched) Specialists req to operate None Effect provided +2 Faith Points/day Stone Works
The stone works serves as the workshop for stonemasons, who shape and process various types of stone to create both artistic and structural elements during the construction process.
The art of stonemasonry is one of the world's oldest professions, encompassing everything from the extraction of stone from quarries, to the actual carving of geometric shapes and the fitment of these stones at the building site.
Historically, stonemasons have worked with everything from Limestone, which was primarily used in building massive structures, to Granite and Marble which were more commonly found in statues and monuments. Cost 550 Production Points, 1000 wood units 500 stone units Maintenance Inspections or repairs required once per month Technology req Mining Specialists req to operate None Effect provided +50% increase in mining resource efficiency
Farms
A farm is an area of land that is devoted primarily to agricultural processes with the primary objective of producing food and other crops; it is the basic facility in food production.
The name is used for specialised units such as arable farms, vegetable farms, fruit farms, dairy, pig and poultry farms, and land used for the production of natural fibres, biofuel and other commodities.
It includes ranches, feedlots, orchards, plantations and estates, smallholdings and hobby farms, and includes the farmhouse and agricultural buildings as well as the land. In modern times the term has been extended so as to include such industrial operations as wind farms and fish farms, both of which can operate on land or sea.
Cost 550 Production Points, 750 wood units 750 stone units Maintenance Inspections or repairs required once per month Technology req Farming and Gathering (already researched) Specialists req to operate None Effect provided +50% increase in farming resource efficiency Hierapolis Lumber Mill
A Lumber Mill is an area of land that is devoted primarily to agricultural processes with the primary objective of producing wood for construction or manufacturing; it is the basic facility in wood production.
Requires the Lumber Mill to be placed near a running river. Cost 550 Production Points, 1000 wood units 1000 stone units Maintenance Inspections or repairs required once per month Technology req Wheel and Calendar (already researched) Specialists req to operate None Effect provided +50% increase in woodcutting resource efficiency Water Mill
Advertisement
A water mill is a building which uses water power to turn grain into flour. In a mill, grain is poured between two stones, one of which is turning slowly. As it moves between the stones the grain is ground into tiny pieces (flour).
Many early mills employed animal or human labor to turn the grinding stone, but in a water mill water provided that power, freeing human and animal labor which could be employed elsewhere to greater profit.
Later on, steam or electricity would power mills far more reliably and efficiently, but water mills were great labor-saving devices of their day. Cost 550 Production Points, 1000 wood units 1000 stone units Maintenance Inspections or repairs required once per month Technology req Wheel and Calendar (already researched) Specialists req to operate None Effect provided +50% increase in food production of the territory (if grains are available flour can be processed)
Barracks
Barracks are military buildings that house a country's professional soldiers. In addition to providing food and shelter for the soldiers, they provide training and medical facilities, as well as military jails, vehicle maintenance, and so forth.
Barracks are important to a civilization's happiness and well-being. They promote cohesion among the ranks, improving the soldiers' chances of success in combat, and they control direct contact between civilians and soldiers, limiting the friction that is almost universally caused when the two groups intermingle overmuch.
Cost 550 Production Points, 1000 wood units 1500 stone units Maintenance Inspections or repairs required once per month Technology req Bronze working Specialists req to operate None Effect provided +25% increase in experience gain through fighting for all units trained in this building
Ancestral Library
A library is a building housing a collection of books, scrolls, and other written material. Historically, books have been fairly expensive, often beyond the reach of a civilization's poorer classes.
The library allows the poor access to the same knowledge as the rich, greatly improving their chances of success and advancement.
Cost 550 Production Points, 1500 wood units 1000 stone units Maintenance Inspections or repairs required once per month Technology req Writing Specialists req to operate None Effect provided +1 Research Point per day for each 2 people in your civilization
I stared in wonder at the multitude of buildings available. Eight of them! While the amount of resources required for all of them is huge, the production costs are even higher…
Seeing however, that specialist required to operate field, a strange idea popped in my mind.
“Mia, Alexandra, would you say that our current resource output is sufficient?”
[Considering our costs and how many buildings we can construct daily, we are overproducing.](Mia)
[I think the same Michael. The Granary could use more diversity as well as quantity, but the warehouse is reaching its maximum space allotted for wood.](Alexa)
“Then I have a suggestion: we reduce the number of people from the woodcutting and mining unit to half and prioritize building the Lumber Mill and the Stone Works. If that happens, the resource output remains the same but we will have more people to work with. Even more important, I want a specialized building unit and a Great Engineer ASAP!”
[Then, should we have the first buildings be the Lumber Mill and the Stone Works?](Mia)
“Hmm? Nope! We’ll build the Monument first.”
[… ╮(╯_╰)╭…](Mia)
“Oh wow… that’s a new expression. Hahaha! We need to focus on the benefits we receive from the Social Policies; therefore, while we will prioritize the resource production buildings, first one to be created tomorrow will be the Monument. I would absolutely love to have the Library as well, but we need to get the Writing tech first. Keeping that in mind, Mia, what’s your take on the order we should go with?”
[…Monument, Lumber Mill, Stone Works, Farms, Water Mill, Barracks, Shrine and Library. If we successfully research Writing in the meantime, then it will be Library first and then Barracks, followed by Shrine last.](Mia)
[But…big sister… shouldn’t we build the Shrine as soon as possible? It feels disrespectful to the Chaos God to leave it last…](A)
I realized that I haven’t exactly put much thought into the religious point of view other people might have. I really don’t care much about that Shrine given that it’s only an extra 2 points of Faith per day, however, going by its description, people need a place where to pray.
“While it might be so, keep in mind that we are allowed to make all the decisions ourselves and the Chaos God choose not to interfere. That means that he already took in consideration this type of situation happening. What he wants from us more than anything is to survive and prosper! To do that, we might have to be a bit disrespectful from time to time… however, this time I agree with you.”
[[Eh!?]](Mia)(Alexa)
I chuckled slightly seeing their reactions and their inquisitive looks.
“We’re going to have a total of 50 people removed from the two previously mentioned units. Beside them, on the first two days only, the dungeon diving unit will help with the building as well. Therefore, we will focus on construction both days. If 50 people generate 10 production points per hour, we will get 20 with 100 builders. That means one building per day for starters, but it will considerably slow down afterwards. Like I already mentioned, the first day we’ll build the Monument and the Shrine on the following one.”
[Why only the first two days Michael? The hard manual labor is very rewarding when considering the attribute points everyone in the dungeon diving unit received…](Alexa)
“While that might be true, we will begin our second dungeon expedition on the 14th day.”
[So soon?](A)
“Yes. We need to bathe the new ones in a bit of blood and we’ll also try something new tomorrow, in the hope of better weapons.”
[You mean…](Mia)
“We’ll try to melt ores!”
[It will be difficult…](Alexa)
“But not impossible! We’ll try and see what we can do…”
Thinking about metal casting, another lifestyle Job came to mind: blacksmith! If I could grab another one of those for my camp, we will have a continuous income of weapons, armors and tools.
