《Alternate Dreams》Dream 60

Jessica sighed contently, she lay on her bed, cuddling with Alex felt wonderful.

They were now clean and fully dressed, they didn't want to be caught by the other two naked after all.

The only thing the room was missing was a door, for privacy.

Jessica herself didn't care what the other two thought about her and Alex, they were all consenting adults after-all.

Alex said the other two might feel uncomfortable they had sneaked off to have sex, while they were undergoing their training.

Jessica conceded the point, Eian easily angered and Sarah loved to point out their faults.

For now they agreed to try to get some privacy in the rooms later, a door would be a godsend.

Soon Alex got up and they spent the rest of the time chatting about many things, like how they could work things out, once they got home of course.

Alex went to get a drink of water and soon Jessica leaned against the wall of her bed.

Closing her eyes she felt herself drift off.

Darkness engulfed her and she quickly opened her eyes.

She was back in her altered old room, Jessica spooked.

"Hello?!" She scanned everything.

The windows were pitch black and her room was once more how she remembered it.

Panic momentarily settled in, before she realized what had happened.

"Calmness Jessica, settle your emotions. Your mind must be balanced, to master the powers of the mind." Myru's voice echoed from the other room.

"Why am I here?" Jessica's breathing slowed, as her nerves calmed.

"I deemed this an appropriate time to teach you the usage of your powers. You are in no mortal danger and.......well your partner helped you relax." Myru's voice held a touch too much mirth.

Jessica's eyes widened and she took a step back.

She held her shoulders.

'She can see me in the real world?' Jessica felt violated.

"No." Myru's answer was a second after her thought, which made her feel more violated.

"You're reading my mind?" Jessica begun to be freaked out.

"Step into the next room with me Jessica, I will answer what I can. We have much to discuss." Myru's voice was steady and sweetly smooth.

Any more questions on her part were met with silence.

Jessica slowly made her way to the other room.

Once there, Myru beckoned her to sit facing her.

"Well?" Jessica crossed her arms, she had been looking forward to conversing with Alex some more.

"Such a haughty attitude. You should watch your tongue around your elders, child." Myru blind-fold betrayed little emotion.

"You don't look older than me." Jessica narrowed her eyes and scanned Myru's young and healthy face.

"Then your first lesson is simple. Looks are deceiving. I am easily over a thousand years old. Not all at my age have patience to waste on your attitude.

Many would outright harm you, from disrespect." Myru's frown and tone was that of a scolding grandmother.

Jessica remained silent, as that passed through her head.

How this this old lady keep her looks for so long?

Not to mention how she even lived them.

Jessica hoped she could learn that health care plan.

Perhaps she should dye her hair though, it was the only thing that gave off age, snow white.

"Well. Only time will tell if you heed my advice. If not, well child,....you'll find yourself in an early grave." Myru shrugged and her smile sent a shiver down her spine.

"Is that a prophecy?" Jessica knew Myru could see the future like her.

"I do not need prophetic powers to tell where foolishness and ill temper leads when dealing with greater powers. It's just common sense." Myru let loose a short laugh.

"You said you would answer my questions. Can you see me in the real world." Jessica frowned, her privacy had been breached.

"No child. I simply run through this encounter so many times I know where it begins and where it ends. There is little my sight can not see, but I have better things to do with my time than waste it spying on a couple's intimate moments." Myru shrugged and smiled.

Jessica thought over that for a moment, the lady seemed genuinely amused.

Perhaps she was not lying, her argument held some weight to it.

Why would she spy on her and Alex anyways?

Of course there was the slight chance she was just a pervert watching over them.

"I am also not reading your mind, it is easily open enough to at least feel external influence. Like I said, I have had many versions of this conversation with you." Myru's tilted her head at her slightly, her smile took a creepy quality.

Her second question had been answered before she could even ask a second time, that was peculiar feeling.

"Forgive me. I get ahead of myself. Sometimes I like teasing the younger generations. It's one of my guilty pleasures." Myru erupted in a minor fit of giggles and her smile brightened.

"You're a weird old lady." Jessica pouted and her arms were still crossed defensively.

"Most my age are. Let us move on from pleasantries. I'm sure you want this over with." Myru steepled her fingers and placed her chin atop them.

The blind-fold was really eerie, especially since Jessica somehow knew it didn't hinder her sight one bit.

"I know you know little of your power, much less how any other PSI powers work. You will listen yes?" Myru's face straightened and her smile disappeared.

A brief moment passed and Jessica realized she was waiting for confirmation.

She nodded, before she remembered the lady's eyes were covered.

"Very well. Now like all powers, PSI has limits. Unlike spirit, which you are more familiar with, PSI doesn't have a well to draw from. Instead your power puts stress on your physical brain. Push too far and a head ache will begin, push further and your brain may hemorrhage. Persist more and this power will either knock you out from pain, or kill you." The lady's voice remained steady and betrayed nothing.

Jessica squirmed and took a deep breathe, she didn't want to die.

"Brain hemorrhages can be healed with magic. Death as well, but the mind is a tricky thing. Even if you are resurrected, you may land in a temporary coma. Unless you have an expert healer, you may be stuck so for the rest of your life. Take my warning seriously, do not push far past a head-ache, unless you are truly desperate. Even then, take care and do not push past brain hemorrhaging." If Myru had no blind fold her eye's would be drilling into Jessica.

This just kept sounding more and more dangerous.

A short shudder passed behind her neck.

"Now, enough of that. A headache will take a while to settle in, hemorrhaging even more so. I just wanted you to be aware of the dangers." Myru explained.

It took some more explaining, but Myru put her worries at ease.

She would feel a head-ache long before she hurt herself with her own power.

Myru told her she stressed it because she wanted the warning to sink in.

"Now let me explain part of the gift you now possess. As I have told you. You may see the future with it through your eyes, but by no means is it all powerful. The power will show you the probability most likely to occur, but by working your mind on it you may see other possibilities within your scope of change. It has a combat application as well, which is what you should learn first. Come." Myru stood.

"Why?" Jessica remained seated, her arms crossed.

"Do you not wish to learn your gift?" Myru shrugged.

Sighing Jessica stood.

"Try to hit me. I won't fight back." Myru stood straight, her arms behind her back.

"I'm not hitting an old lady." Jessica frowned.

"Of course you won't. How would a worthless child like you even manage it? A disappointing burden to both parents I'm sure." Myru sneered.

"What did you call me!?" Jessica narrowed her eyes.

"A baby." Myru's sneer grew.

'This bitch is asking for it!' Jessica slapped at her.

Her hand passed through empty air, easily missing Myru somehow.

Agitated Jessica threw another slap at her, only to miss again.

She kicked at her legs, punched wildly, chopped and even tried a tackle, all attempts failed spectacularly.

On the floor, soon Jessica realized she had been played, the old lady baited her.

'Ugrrrrhhh.' Jessica got up and stomped her foot on the ground.

"You're playing with me!" Jessica crossed her arms defensively.

"No child, I'm teaching you. You swing wildly at me, without using your power." Myru shrugged.

"How is this teaching me!?" Jessica fumed.

"Lower your voice. Ask again, politely or I will bend you over my knee and spank you. If you behave like a child I will treat you as one." Myru stretched cat-like.

"You're not my mother!" Jessica grit her teeth at the indignity.

"Hmmmm....true, nor would I want to be." Myru shrugged.

"BITCH!" Jessica lunged at her.

Myru side-stepped and tripped her with one foot.

Suddenly she found herself on the floor.

Strong hands gripped her and Jessica struggled to resist.

Elbowing behind her, Jessica felt something block them easily, and it budged not an inch.

Myru held her arms in a lock behind her back, Jessica's knees were on the floor and her cheek was forcefully pressed against the floor.

"Take my lesson to heart. Comport yourself around those with more power or you will die. This is your last warning, not everyone is as kind and forgiving as I." Myru's voice rang behind her.

Jessica squirmed, both of Jessica's hands were held by one of the bitch's impossibly strong hands.

Suddenly she felt a resounding smack against her buttocks.

She let loose a surprised yelp.

Another smack hit her, then another, and another.

"STOP! STOP IT!" Jessica gashed her teeth and tried to fight back.

Myru ignored her completely.

After several minutes her buttocks ached terribly and tears had long ago welled up in her eyes.

The indignity was overwhelming, the physical pain was much less painful than her her shame and injured pride.

"Stop.....please....stop.....hic." Tears flowed down her eyes, Jessica closed her eyes.

"Good. Let this be the last time." Myru let her go.

Jessica scrambled away on all fours, dignity broken.

Jessica quickly sat, only to jump up from the pain on her behind.

She backed herself into a corner of the room, she held herself as she cried.

"I will be here, when you are ready to learn." Myru sat down and went absolutely still.

Several minutes passed by, Jessica had squatted down comfortably to evade sitting.

She had her back against the wall and her arms crossed a top her knees, forehead resting on her arms.

In all her mind was blank, she didn't want to think right now.

She lost track of time.

Much later, Jessica roused herself from her melancholy.

Surprisingly Myru had stood and was facing her.

Once more her arms were behind her back and she held a relaxed stance.

Definitely creepy.

"The trick is to focus your mind on me. Bend your will to see my movements." Myru began tilting her head from side to side lazily.

Sighing Jessica stood, she wanted this over with.

Once she was back with Alex she could relax again.

Hopefully he could cheer her up.

"It may take some time, I will begin walking in a line, try to predict them." Myru's head stopped and watched her.

Myru began moving, facing where her left side was.

After a while she stopped changed directions and begun moving to the right.

Jessica stared at her, she sighed again then breathed in deeply.

Her stare focused and her brows furrowed, until she looked to be glaring at Myru, perhaps she was.

Minutes passed with no improvement.

Concentrating, she tried everything.

Suddenly she felt something shift in her brain.

Myru multiplied, a blurry image of her appeared in front of Myru.

Jessica saw the image stop, turn the walk to the other direction, phasing through Myru's body.

Suddenly Myru copied what Jessica had seen the image do before.

The image had stopped walking and turned to face Jessica, but Jessica had focused mostly on the actual Myru.

Soon Myru and the blurry image stood facing her, merged seamlessly together.

"Good. Now try to attack me while doing that." Myru stood still.

Jessica walked cautiously to her instructor.

Breathing in deeply she saw an arm lift and attempt to block where Jessica had planned to punch.

Jessica kicked low instead, suddenly several images overwhelmed her vision.

Myru skipped away from her.

"Keep this always in mind. This power counters itself. I am stronger so I knew everything before hand. Otherwise I would be operating on my other abilities alone." Myru shrugged.

All the images settled a top Myru once more.

Jessica blinked.

"What use is an ability that can be countered?" Jessica sighed and shook her head frustrated.

Here she thought her power might be amazing.

"All powers can be countered. I've told you it's not all powerful." Myru stretched her heels till she was tip-toeing.

Jessica opened her mouth to respond, but Myru cut her off.

"Shush! Listen to your elders or I'll spank you again. There are few people with this ability, so the chances of running into one is rare. Now let me tell you what other powers counter it or prove difficult to handle." Myru lowered herself and stood at attention again.

Jessica listened, she didn't want a repeat of another spanking.

"The most abundant problem is wind magic, the element itself is invisible so difficult to predict. Illusions are another problem, you won't be able to see someone invisible and any images they create will only confuse you. That ability is less rare than yours, so watch out for it especially. Predicting Teleportation can also be tricky, if they know of your ability they can get behind you, where you cannot see. The major factor at play right now is that you're slow. Even if you can see something coming, if you can't dodge you'll be hit before you know it. You also must practice your power more, if you don't know what to do with what your see you're wasting your potential." Myru remained completely still while lecturing.

Jessica paid attention, every time her attention waned Myru called out to her.

"Now let's move on to visions." Myru sat down and beckoned for her to sit.

Jessica slowly sat.

"Good, now moving on. Visions are hard to master. For now you can't see very far. There are tools to improve this, but that will take long to get. Blessings are a great help in boosting your mind temporarily to see more, but you'll need to invoke a being for it in the short run. Let us begin practicing your vision. Close your eyes." Myru instructed.

Jessica swallowed any acidic comments she had and closed her eyes reluctantly.

"Focus, try to get the feeling you had while predicting my movements." Myru instructed.

Jessica focused she felt the shift in her mind.

"Once you feel something happening try to delve deeper and push further. Focus on our conversation and where it will lead." Myru went silent.

Jessica felt herself sink slowly into her mind.

She opened her eyes wide, shocked.

She lost the feeling.

"Trust your power, you will feel if your minds strain and can snap out of it." Myru nodded.

Jessica tried again, this time she let herself begrudgingly sink slowly.

********

Opening her eyes she was sitting with Myru once more.

Nothing was different.

Jessica felt confused.

Had she failed?

"Good. Now let us continue." Myru smirked, as if to some inside joke.

"Did I fail?" Jessica narrowed her eyes.

"No." Myru's smiled widened, and she stood.

Jessica was confused.

"What do you mean?" Jessica frowned.

"Stand up." Myru commanded.

Sighing Jessica stood.

'What's going on.' Jessica blinked, she wanted nothing more than go back.

Her head felt a bit funny, as if she were thinking on something very complicated.

"I've warned you. With time you will feel strain slowly build up. Stop when it begins to be painful." Myru folded her hands behind her back.

"I'm confused." Jessica tilted her head.

"Listen closely. Follow me" Myru warned.

Jessica shut up, this was weird.

Myru led her to her room.

She motioned her to sit on her comfortable bed.

Gingerly Jessica sat on the edge of the bed and folded her arms.

"Well?" Jessica waited, her head still felt a little weird.

"Now I offer you, your choices." Myru kept smiling.

"A choices?" Jessica frowned, she hoped it was to send her back, she was tired of this session.

"Yes tell me. Do you prefer to be a mage or a warrior?" Myru asked casually.

"Don't you know?" Jessica rolled her eyes.

"Hah! Don't make me spank you again. See though? You can learn. Yes, I do know, but I find it polite to ask. It's a life-long journey after all." Myru let loose a short laugh.

Jessica frowned.

"You shouldn't frown so much. You'll get wrinkles. Anyways answer my question." Myru kept her smile.

"I'll choose to be a mage." Jessica replied exasperated, her head still felt funny.

"I know you chose death magic. It's potent at killing." Myru nodded.

"Then why ask?" Jessica frowned.

"Because I need to inform you that your mind by itself is potent. With a fire-arm or a long range weapon you can easily kill most mundane things by predicting their movements. Your dexterity and aim are top notch already. You'll rarely miss with a little training." Myru.

"I don't have a fire-arm available to me right now." Jessica leaned into her bed.

"Yes, but it's for the future. Death magic is potent and you must be careful not to harm your friends while practicing. In the future you can use fire-arms mostly and use magic only on stronger opponents. This will allow you to conserve your spirit well and focus more on PSI instead of magic." Myru explained.

"Why should I do that? Besides I thought I was at my limit." Jessica thought magic was a much better choice than PSI at the moment.

"You are at your human limit, but you'll be able to surpass it eventually. Once you do if you focus on PSI again, you'll be able to unlock another PSI power earlier. Your efficiency on your current one will also increase. Imagine being able to see deeper into the future to prevent yourself from dying from any disaster. You possess a wonderful gift and should not squander it." Myru explained.

"When will I unlock another power? Do you know what it is?" Jessica narrowed her eyes.

"I do know what it is. You'll unlock it at twenty mind. I won't tell you yet, but its potent and will suit your future needs." Myru smiled.

"Twenty!" Jessica jaw almost dropped.

"Yes you may focus on spirit for now, till you're able to overcome your human limits." Myru nodded sagely.

"How will I even overcome my limits? You make it sound like I'll be an old lady by that time." Jessica frowned.

"I think you'll be surprised at what lies ahead. I can't say more, but you'll need all the power you can get. With such a potent power you should not squander it. You are blessed." Myru shrugged.

By now Jessica was feeling as if she was a little low on sugar levels.

"Close you eyes and try to relax child." Myru smirked again.

Sighing Jessica closed her eyes and strangely she felt as if falling asleep.

Mentally she gave a sigh of relief, she had gone too long without true rest.

*******

Jessica blinked she was once more in front of Myru.

They were sitting back in the room outside of Jessica's own room.

Jessica looked around confused beyond reason.

Looking she saw that smirk Myru wore.

"I trust you to make right decisions." Myru gave her a toothy smile.

"What? What just happened?" Jessica frowned.

"Experience child, I have had plenty of experience. Perhaps someday you shall learn my tricks." Myru kept smiling.

"Did you send your thoughts into my head!?" Jessica felt truly violated.

"Shush! No. You would have felt such an intrusion into your mind." Myru's smile turned into a frown, but then became a smirk.

Jessica grit her teeth, then shut her mouth.

"Good-bye. Think on your future carefully. We may not meet again." Myru waved her hand.

"WAIT!" Jessica tried to stand.

Everything washed away.
