《Alternate Dreams》Dream 48

Eian had kept digging, the last big wolf was already dead.
It had been the biggest meanest wolf ever, but he had no problems.
Something in his chestplate felt torn, it was digging uncomfortably at his side now, it felt similarly to the edge of a can.
Suddenly he felt the earth crack, the opening widened and swallowed him.
'WTF??!' Eian fell shortly and landed on his knees,
He hadd a second to register the floor felt damp and the air humid.
Shortly there after several wolf carcasses landed atop his body.
'Ugh.' Eian lay beneath their bodies.
He pushed through the throng of bodies and found himself in a large damp warren.
It was surprisingly barren and not a soul was within, though several stalagmites were atop the roof.
Looking upwards he saw an the opening had collapsed into some form of underground room.
His entrance had been more than a story high, luckily his bones weren't quite like before now.
The room had a tunnel-exit, though the rest seemed sealed off, but for now Eian was content to relax atop the dead bodies.
They were sort of like meaty pillows, even if they did have blood everywhere.
'Fuck...I deserve a break.' Eian relaxed and let his mind wander.
He sported a massive headache along with several bumps, scraps and bruises.
His arm was an itchy mess and his side was beginning to feel a little raw from the metal chaffing.
Eian took off his helmet to get a better look, which was near impossible with almost no light.
Eian inspected the damaged chestplate was and realized the combination of a recent dents and the thin slices had carved through and bent an area inward.
With great effort he painstakingly removed it, the torn side passed through patches of skin and scraped it uncomfortably.
Feeling at the mangled excuse of armor Eian wondered how he had even managed to stay within its confines.
'Well I got time. And food. Are these the same tunnels as before?' Eian inspected the wolf carcasses which favored lumps of darkness within the cavern.
With his helmet off he could hear running water in the distance.
Eian drew his great-sword, through the tunnel and walked toward the sound of water.
The tunnel leg on wards, but he discovered the source of the sound.
He found a tiny shower along the wall, that could generously be called a waterfall flowing from a slightly wider opening, it led off upwards into darkness and Eian though perhaps even he could squeeze into the opening.
The water had eroded the floor and led deeper down into the earth, he had to watch his footing or his foot would get stuck.
Eian drank deeply from the water before going back towards his landing.
He looked up at the opening in the ceiling.
'Well, worst case scenario I slowly stack stone blocks, till I get out through the top.' Eian's shoulders slumped and he decided his spirit was close to drained once more.
He turned and looked at his blinking tattoo.
'Well. No time like the present.' Eian wrinkled his nose, he knew what would come.
He walked towards the wolf carcasses carved out uneven chunks of meat and ate.

He meat was coppery and tough, almost rubbery.
He tore at it and tried to ignore the taste, it was disgusting.
Once he was adequately full he went back for some water, and nourished himself.
He lay back on a bed of dead carcasses and pressed selected Body on his tattoo.
His belly instantly began to protest.
He rushed to an area secluded from the meat.
His suffering had begun.
*****
Time passed slowly in Eian's mind.
He had stripped himself naked, and stacked his equipment in a pile.
It was much easier to exist that way, than to remove it all every time he had to go use the rest-room.
He thought he had drunk a barrel of water and eaten an entire wolf by now.
His stomach was revolting and he felt disgusted by the filth.
Second past second his world was eternal suffering.
When he realized the pain had subsided and he watched his tattoo.
It marked the transformation as complete, though they were not blinking.
He was at: Body:6, Mind:4, and Spirit:5.
He rejoiced it was finally over.
He re-equiped everything after a through hand shower.
Once he felt akin to slightly human he could ponder other things.
Now he just had to decide what his plan was.
In the time of his suffering his spirit had recovered a substantial degree.
He looked at the opening.
'I guess I should start building upwards slowly. No telling where this tunnel leads, besides I'll probably have to wait till the sun comes out to actually find those guys. Hopefully they're still waiting for me.' Eian sighed, things still weren't looking good.
His chest was once more bare, the chestplate was too damaged to be used and it hindered his movements.
He got to work slowly, ensuring his spirit was not over taxed and to recover it slowly.
He was still aching and had to take multiple breaks to rest the wolf pillows.
He was still hungry and had to tear off parts of meat occasionally as well.
He got back to work.

Jessica gazed about at her spacious room, directly in front of her was an open door that was definitely not the door of her room.
It led off somewhere out of sight from her angle, though the coloring was different from what her house would hold.
She was having a really weird out-of-body sensation, the windows showed her nothing literally nothing.
It was as if they had been painted black on the other side.
Everything else was the same, though only a few things really mattered to her.
She saw the picture of her joyful parents and herself as a baby, her father was crying on his knees holding her, her mother was obscured her face with both hands.
A picture of her sweet sixteen dress, he parents were there as well, though she had been single at the time a cousin had danced with her.
She even saw a shark pillow she had won by herself at an amusement park last year, her boyfriend hadn't even wanted to play and even try to win her something.
She was glad she had met Alex though, as soon as they got back home she would dump her loser boyfriend and ask Alex if he was single, she really hoped he was.

'This....This isn't my home. It feels too weird.' Jessica was feeling strange and begun fidgeting.
"It is part of your mind, I have reached out to you here to help you." Female voice.
"Who's there?!" Jessica startled and gasped.
"Relax Miss Price. Pass the open the door of your potential. I await you here." Female voice.
"Why should I trust you?" Jessica glanced about the room and her eyes narrowed.
"Your friends have already told you of their guides. Your power has finally awoken and I have some advice before you leave." Female voice.
The voice spoke punctually with no surprise and little emotion.
"What power have I gotten?" Jessica's breathing quickened.
'PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! BE TELEPORTATION!' Jessica's heart was racing.
"It is a most wonderful gift child. Please come. It is not teleportation as you hope. It is something much much more rare." Female voice.
"It's not teleportation?!" Jessica shoulders slumped.
"I knew it, but it is still funny. Teleportation would not have helped you get home either way. You understand so little, but it must be so for now. What you have makes that power pale in comparison, people would kill and raze cities to possess your gift." Female voice.
"How do I get home then! My parents are probably dying to find me!" Jessica lightly pulled at her hair.
"All things have their appropriate time. Worry not. Now come let us speak face to face. I know my presence disturbs you, you will feel better once you see me." Female.
Jessica narrowed her eyes and debated.
In the end she decided to at least go to see her apparent guide, then she could ask her some more questions.
Everything the others told her led her to believe they meant no harm, she crossed her arms and readied herself.
Jessica left the imitation of her room and passed the open door, it was a wooden and had a large flowing line that split into many more.
Soon she was standing a top another barren room, at its center was an ordinary woman.
She wore an old-style white-dress similar to a priestess, a grey-cloak covered only one side of her dress.
The dress materials were strange and favored modern fabric, an elegant blend of classic and stylish, Jessica approved.
She was in a meditative sitting position and had her back turned.
Jessica could see her hair was pure white that bordered silver, her hood was not up.
'Is she old? I hope her face isn't a monster....' Jessica shuddered at the thought.
She walked around the figure keeping a large distance between them.
"Miss Price. You worry too much and scare so easy." Sitting lady held some humor in her voice.
Jessica felt a little foolish, but still didn't approach better safe than sorry.
Soon she could see her face.
It looked surprisingly young and ordinary, except she had a cloth-blindfold covering her eyes.
Jessica breathed a sigh of relief.
"Sit please. My name is Myru, you may call me Mir, if you desire Miss Price. Can I call you by your given name?" Myru's lips curled into a smile.
"Ummmm....Sure Miss Me-ru." Jessica looked at the floor.
Jessica played with her hair as she sat on the floor in front of the mysterious lady.
"It is pronounced My-Ru. Jessica, I am here for a simple reason." Myru clarified.
"Um? What is it?" Jessica had a jumble of confused-questions, and she didn't even know what to ask.
"You have the ability to read your future Jessica." Myru.
"What?" Jessia's brow wrinkled.
Out of everything that she was expecting that was the last.
"I am here to tell you that no matter what you see. ALWAYS HOLD HOPE. ALWAYS." Myru was firm and it struck a cord in her mind.
"Your scaring me a little, what do you mean?" Jessica held her breathe.
Myru somehow held her gaze through the blindfold.
"You can only read the possibilities of your future. You can only see things you could witness with your own two eyes. There are many possibilities, but most will not come true, there can only be one tomorrow after all." Myru.
"Wait so can I or can't I see the future?" Jessica tilted her head.
"Listen closely to every word. The future is like a boat on a river. Ever following onwards, the river branches off endlessly at every turn. You can see where those branches lead before the vessel enters, most people are within in the vessel unable to see the destination. For now you are a sailor on top, able to rig a sail and perhaps tilt the vessel to a more favorable out-come, but you may fail as well. With experience you may be able to wrestle control from the captain to guide it to your desire." Myru.
Jessica was beginning to feel overwhelmed, she rubbed her temple with the fingers on one hand.
She was understanding most of what Myru was saying, but it was all so much to take in.
"As the future enters a different channel, the other futures are closed off from your sight. Also the closer you are, the more clearly you can see other destinations. For now far into the future will be clouded almost entirely." Myru.
"How about the past? Can I see the past?" Jessica licked her lips.
"No. That is another mental power and has its many uses as well." Myru .
"So.... What can I do for now?" Jessica furrowed her brows.
"This power can not be taught easily. I will contact you again in a day." Myru.
"Wait! What do you mean?" Jessica's eyes widened.
"The initial visions will be traumatizing. Your mind will go out of control, there is no way to control it for now. I will wait till your mind settles." Myru.
"Traumatizing?" Jessica felt her heart seize.
"It is best you see and experience it." Myru.
"So you're not going to help me?" Jessica trembled and felt a chill.
"I already have. Remember most visions are not true. Always hold hope." Myru.
Myru waved her hand and Jesscia had returned to the forest with the group.
The visions began.

Trailblazer
The story of a man who accidentally wrote another world into existence. Everyone breaks away from their mundane daily life in one way or another. Our protagonist, an unfortunate consequence of circumstance, being no different, often escaped the harsh reality of life by writing stories of an alternate world of swords and magic. Though he recognized the difference between reality and fantasy, he could've never imagined what would happen, when the line between the two blurred as lightning struck down from the skies, and his escapism fantasy became all too real... After he came to, he would soon learn that things in the other world aren't quite as he remembered them to be. The world he wrote of had become but a shadow of its former self. Albeit hesitant at first, he sets off on a quest to find out the secrets behind the Trails, yet even then, he can't help but wonder... Can he really bring his world back to its old glory? —————————— I have never written a story before in my life and now I'm doing so in a language I don't natively speak. Groundbreaking quality is probably not something to be expected, but I do my best to keep things readable. With the necessities out of the way, both constructive criticism and other suggestions are very much welcome, and I'll do my best to take them into account when writing future chapters.
