Gin’s Notes #3 – Theories on how Mages came to be
How Mages came to be has always been a mystery. From mankind’s perspective, they just popped into thin air. Below I have listed what are the possible origins of Magikind.
It happened naturally as a random mutation. Evolution is a theory where those strong enough to live and able enough to breed will pass on their characteristics down to their offspring. So if a random mutation happens in a person to enable him or his descendants to become mages, then it isn’t entirely improbable that this might have happened, especially when the governments of the 3rd millennia forced an emigration for all of those who share this common trait of being a mage into an island for a century forcing any children on that island to be mages themselves. However this theory is improbable as although rate for one mutation in a human is small but possible, the chances of several happening at roughly the same time is even unlikelier Experimentations on humans causing a forced mutation. In an age where laws cannot be one hundred percent enforced and underground markets existed, human torture and experimentations took place. It is possible that one of those experiments caused people to become a mage. It would explain a lot but unfortunately I don’t believe that is the case. My reason being is that the mage outbreak occurred on a global scale. Experimentation would explain if they appeared in one place but that didn’t happen and I highly doubt any collusion happened between the experimenters. It was a scientific breakthrough. Back then disease was much more of a problem. Nowadays we have the latest medicine and evolved humans that specialise in treating you. However, the search for cures was much more of a priority and this may have lead to advanced genetic research (it may also explain why the only relevant science to remain today is genetic research). As a result, becoming a mage may have become a by-product. A few centuries down the line and we get where we are It might be that the trait that made you a mage was just dormant and technically everyone is a mage. Much like how I can change my breathing rate with a bit of concentration, it might be that the next step of controlling every cell in my body is the next step that only was only found out by some all those millennia back. Why I say this, you may ask, is because there have been cases of people doing things out of the ordinary, or miracles. Were these mages? Who can tell?

That’s all I can think of for now but I might add more later on. However, dear readers, please don’t take this page seriously as I cannot confirm anything to be true and am just theorising possible reasons. I could be completely wrong in the end.
