Here we have a basic model of Gin's weaponry: the Integrated Nanobot System, or INS for short. One side contains stored nanobots (and if you twist it off, you can open up a control panel to programme what the INS does). The middle contains the mechanism and the other end is where the whole thing comes out.
This is basically an illustration of how Gin uses the INS on his xernim gauntlets (introduced in the last 2 chapters)
